I have had Square Trade cell phone insurance for several years. I have never had a claim for anything. They have taken my monthly premiums all along. My wife accidentally dropped her iPhone 6S in the toilet a week ago Friday. The iPhone worked until Sunday morning, then the touch screen quit working. I called Square Trade to file a claim for water damage. I was told without the ORIGINAL sales receipt they couldn't process my claim. Before Square Trade I had the Verizon insurance company and decided to change to Square Trade. When I switched to Square Trade I provided them with all of the information they required to activate my insurance policy, and they've taken my premium money every month for over three years. I just received a refund check from Square Trade for $39.98 as a refund. Square Trade is a RIP OFF!!!! As a result of this I had to buy my wife a new iPhone XR for over $700. I also bought a 3 year Apple Care+ with damage, loss & theft insurance. At least with Apple I'll have peace of mind. Screw Square Trade!!!!! They are RIP OFF Artist! read more

Well my Sony tv just died eight days ago. Looking into it, it was a common problem for this model. So common that Sony extended their warranty from 1 year to 5 years for the same problem I experienced. But Sony extended warranty, officially ended March 31st. About 45 days before my TV died. I tried reasoning with Sony who immediately said it's out warranty and I need to pay for any repairs myself. I've heard stories about manufacturers repairing TVs year out of warranty when hearing of common issues but this wasn't even close to the case for me even after escalating. Then I realized I completely forgot I bought an extended four year square trade warranty. Looking at the date though, the squaretrade warranty actually expired mid February 2021, 45 days before Sony's. But when I emailed them a copy of my warranty plan that explicitly states that my warranty expires after the manufacturers warranty ends and Sony extended their warranty the agent talked to his supervisor, reinstated my warranty and approved it. Two days later tv parts were received in the mail and three days after that the repairman stopped by and fixed my tv. Five days after I picked up the phone I had my tv fixed. I was only on the phone a little over an hour to talk to the agent, reinstate the warranty, go through the warranty claim, and have it immediately processed and approved. Blazing fast and no nonsense. When I was on the call the agents would check in with me every five minutes to let me know where they were in the process. Things could not have been easier and I'm so thankful I purchased that square trade warranty. Most companies are unsympathetic and unwavering. Square trade was simple, quick, and the two agents I talked to, spoke to me like an actual human instead of a corporate drone. Five stars all day. read more

DO NOT PURCHASE WARRANTY FROM SQUARE TRADE US. I've come across Square Trade Us through Ebay when I purchased a necklace on August 2020. They have a telephone number with instructions but no phone representatives. The only representatives you could communicate with is through a Chat Line. The representatives that I've chatted with are trained to lie to to you repetitively. If your claim for a purchase has been approved for repairs, the reps will give you the run around. They will tell you that your claim is approved and inform you that they will send a return postage and form to fill out, knowing that they won't. I remember filing a claim with them in 2012, it was so easy and efficient. Well I bought protection again from them for a laptop purchased in 2019. It broke in February this year so I filed a claim in March. They said it should take 24 hours for the claim to get updated. Still no update for 4 weeks so I call them. They said "ok we approved the claim now you will get a shipping label in your email". A few days pass and I still dont get a shipping label. I finally call them again a month since I submitted the original claim and now finally they shipped me the label after a 10 minute phone call. This was by far the worst customer experience i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I ended up cancelling all of my Square Trade policies due to the ineptitude and false promises made to me regarding a simple phone repair. The phone is still NOT repaired and I had to endure a week without my primary work communication device. This was unacceptable by even the lowest standards anyone can think of. Square Trade should be ashamed of marketing these policies and not being able to fulfill the simplest of tasks. Being a second market insurer of phones, laptops, iPads, etc..., I was a tad skeptical of how the process of filing a claim would work. I hit a roadblock when they asked for the original receipt from when I bought my iPhone 6 and assumed I'd just been hoodwinked. They seriously expect you to hold onto a receipt for 10+ months? That's absolutely absurd. However, after a search of my inbox I was lucky enough to have opted for a digital receipt last November when I purchased my phone. That was the missing piece of the puzzle for getting a full reimbursement. So note to anyone buying a SquareTrade plan instead of the traditional insurance; KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! I bought a protection plan for furniture I ordered online, and it turned out to be covered by Square Trade. That was a total waste of money and time. People seem nice enough on the phone, but they will give you the run around. Think endless phone transfers, asking the same questions over and over again, reps asking for receipts/invoices, when you've already provided them, the website freezing when you're trying to upload pictures. In my case, I contacted a rep via chat when the website froze after I uploaded pictures and it asked for my email address. I put in my email address, and I pressed the submit button, only for the website to freeze. I tried 2 other browsers and even restarted my computer, and I still had the same freezing issue. I then contacted a rep via the online chat (though at first they wanted me to talk to a bot). The rep I chatted with online said not to worry, she got the pictures, and that I didn't need to do anything else. But then a few days later I received an email saying the pictures were rejected and the reason given is that they were blank. I tried again thinking that maybe it would work this time, and the same thing happened again. I figured I'd try to call them again, but I didn't have the number anymore. Their number wasn't on the receipt for the furniture. Nor was it on any of the emails I've received from them. I looked for their number online, and my search only yielded the number for the device protection plan. I tried that number anyway and tried to follow the prompts. I didn't get anywhere. They really don't make it easy. All of this hassle for literally what is probably a $2 part that I needed/requested. I've bought a lot of protection plans for various electronics I've purhcased. I looked into my paperwork drawer and found another Square Trade plan purchased for a TV from Costco. I figured I should try to register that plan onto my account in case I ever needed to use it. For Costco plans, the Square Trade website instructs you to put in your Costco membership number, which I then had to look up. It's not on the piece of Square Trade paperwork I received from Costco. That piece of paper only gives the protection plan number, price, and deductible. After a long period of waiting, I finally received a message that said the "operation failed." I tried to do that two more times; it failed again. See the picture I uploaded of my screen. What a disaster. Somehow I found a number on their website and I tried to get a customer rep. After being on hold for awhile and several attempts, I finally got ahold of a live person. I told them I wasn't trying to file a claim, I was just trying to register my plan so I can find it easier should I need it. I told him that the website didn't work when I gave it my Costco membership number. I told him he probably needed to check a different way, I gave him the protection plan number and my membership number again. He can't find my plan in their system, and he informed me I need to give him the order number. I said I didn't order the item. I bought it at the store, and that I no longer had the receipt. Too bad, he told me I needed to contact Costco and get the receipt. I looked at my letter again, and the letter states "this letter has all of the information you'll need in case you have to file a claim so please keep it in a safe place." See the picture I posted. Considering they can't even find my protection plan, that statement is clearly false. Okay well that confirms that this company is terrible, and the warranties/protection plans mean nothing. Word of advice - cancel your insurance and try to get your money back. Get a different kind of insurance. A lot of manufacturers will sell you an extended warranty or a protection plan. If Square Trade gives you the run around, contact your credit card company instead and dispute the charge. Square Trade will get penalized for the charge back. Note that disputing the charge is your right and entirely justifiable, given that Square Trade is not providing the service you paid for. This is the reason you give in the dispute. read more

They fix broken hardware, not plastic stuff, so don't load up your refrigerator vegetable crisper with a heap of beer bottles because the little plastic thingamabobs that keep it sliding in and out will break. I used to really love Squaretrade. Now, I'm on my fourth week with no phone. First, they had me take my phone to a local repair shop. After three days, he couldn't fix it. Squaretrade said they could overnight my phone to their repair facility. Cool, right? Nope. Even though my phone claim had been approved, they required me to wait ANOTHER two business days for a second approval. This marks two weeks without my phone. They also refunded my first deductible. Finally, my phone was determined to be nonrepairable. They sent me a replacement phone. I thought my experience was done. Yesterday, the replacement phone arrived. I paid extra when I purchased my phone directly from Samsung to have it unlocked and not tied to any carrier or carrier specific android updates. The replacement phone is branded to AT&T, asks me for logins to AT&T, and has multiple AT&T apps that can't be uninstalled. I called customer service last night and spent 30 minutes on the phone with them, only for them to tell me that I had to FILE ANOTHER CLAIM. This marks three claims and four weeks without my phone. I am now waiting for another review process for the same claim. They didn't send me a proper replacement phone, and now I have to wait on their error again. UPDATE: Square Trade made it right, after contacting the BBB and filing a formal complaint. It is unfortunate that it took so many steps - however, I have to say from the perspective as someone whom works diligently at doing my best to make changes when something has gone south... they deserve to be commended. Max, I have been disconnected 4 times now when calling customer service for replacement phones. I just spent over 35 minutes on the phone only to have the final rep. Marlin ask me to stay on the line while he connects me with the troubleshooting department. Guess what, it disconnected me because they are closed!!! Does Marlin not know his own companies business hours? I have a very poorly functioning replacement phone, I have received no response from you and no assistance from the company you represent to remedy this. I need a phone that works. I need someone whom can stay on the phone and resolve this to my satisfaction. I'm exhausted with the multiple 20-30+ minute hold times. Your extension is not recognized by the phone system when I call. This is terrible customer service and I'm venturing out to see whom I report this to to obtain some assistance from squaretrade. After 8 calls and proper documentation, with my signed and completed affidavit scanned into the computer and sent to them, they think they only have to pay me back $9.99 for the price I paid for the warranty less then a year ago. I purchased a monitor 3 months ago from CDW, and then purchased a warranty directly from Squaretrade. Full coverage with ADH (Accidental Damage) protection. The monitor broke a few days ago, so I started a claim online. I uploaded the purchase receipt again and within a day someone contacted me to let me know that they only cover Amazon Warranties for products purchased from Amazon... I went Huh, what are you talking about. I sent them a reply with the receipt again and an email confirmation of my squaretrade purchase. Then I received an email that my claim was approved, but to get it resolved, I would need to call into their customer line. I did this, waited on hold a fair amount of time and spoke to a nice lady who thought she could resolve it. She placed me on hold to speak to a S3 person, and then returned 10 minutes later to again say that the item was purchased through Amazon, and that I purchased it using the wrong category, and that I could. Here are there excuses on why they arent paying: 1) I somehow puchased the warranty through Amazon, even though I have a squaretrade receipt and purchased it directly from them. The receipt shows that. 2) I choose the wrong the category when I purchased the plan from. According to the agent I should have choose "Desktop". Huh, how does that work. 3) Since my monitor is broken, I should take it in to get fixed and then they will reimburse me. 0 STARS!!!! I purchased an iPad through Walmart on 7-13-22 which about 2 weeks later the screen cut out and was glitching. I started a claim through square trade which was fairly smooth but then I tried receiving the iPad. SquareTrade shipped the iPad through fedex which apparently they require a signature to drop off if you're not home so we signed the paper for them to just leave it as we aren't home during the hours they drop off. Well apparently Fedex has the option to refuse to leave it even if we sign for them to do so? So now I had to wait for fedex to "attempt to deliver" again even though I still would not be home, then it had to be sent back to Squaretrade and processed in again, and then sent to the new address I provided. I eventually got the iPad but then upon looking at it there was damage(scrapes and small dents) all along the edges and backside, then I noticed some boogers or maybe food in a couple spots which were not there when I sent in the iPad as I had cleaned it prior to sending it in. Come to find out I was sent a repaired iPad, which would be fine if it wasn't in damaged condition PLUS had literal boogers or food on it from SOMEONE ELSE DURING A PANDEMIC. I was baffled!!!!!! So now I'm supposed to receive an electronic gift card. I've been waiting 4 months to receive this gift card to my email. Every time I contact customer service they just "resend" it. Today was my final straw. I was told on Wednesday that if I did not receive the email by 9pm that day then we could try getting the gift card sent to another email so today, Friday, I contact customer service again and they won't send it to my other email. Absolutely atrocious "insurance", do not purchase this plan for an iPad or really probably anything! They won't make it easy to use your insurance They sent me to a cellular store to repair a dehumidifier. All the recommended repair shops are cellular phone stores. I wanted to speak to a human, but they make that impossible after hours. They do not allow an email where I could detail the problem and wait for a reply. The only help I got was a constant loop back to the FAQ page. I went through the online process and my claim was approved. I thought they would send me the cost of the item as they did years ago with my last claim. NOT ANY MORE! Their solution is to make me take my dehumidifier into a repair shop and then submit the bill for reimbursement. The repair estimate will be more than a new dehumidifier. So what do I do? Why don't they have repair shops where I can bring my dehumidifier in for repair and the shop gets paid by Squaretrade? What insurance company tells the insured to pay for the repair and then submit the bill for their approval? That is insane. What if they do not approve it? Then I am stuck with the bill. I cannot afford to repair the appliance and that is why I have an insurance policy. They make claims illusionary and impossible. I guess my only option is small claims court and to get insurance somewhere else. I advise you to avoid companies that do not have email addresses for customer support. It is a dead giveaway they want to hassle you so much you do not file a claim. No contact is good contact at Allstate. The hands that slap you in the face in my opinion. read more

I have a SquareTrade warranty I bought with my high end 75" Samsung TV at Sam's Club on 12/30/18. It's a 4 year warranty, so still active till 12/30/22. I contacted SquareTrade on Monday 04/25/22 because I hadn't yet registered my warranty. Here's where the run around begins... I was told to upload an attachment *jpg file of my warranty. I took a picture of the receipt on my iPhone and emailed it to myself. I took that attachment and followed the rep's instructions. I've since received 4 emails stating I needed to include a *jpg picture of the receipt so they could verify the warranty plan. Now it's 04/28/22, and I called again because the last email had these instructions: Claim ID: 028770212133 Hi Phillip, You'll need to speak to one of our specialists to complete your claim. Give us a call at 1-877-927-7268. Be near your item, and have the model number and serial numbers handy. So I called. Guess what they needed me to do? You got it! Reply to a NEW email being sent to you with a *jpg attachment added to it!! I resent the original *jpg and included 5 other types of photo files. *.png, *.heic, *.gif, *.bmp, and *.tif. These are ALL valid photo files and can be viewed on any windows PC, no problem. Does anyone else smell a RUN AROUND??? Someone needs to address this issue quick. Being told all claims need to be started on line and my claim was denied due to a manufacturers warranty (2010 Mac Pro ) which I had problems 3 months after purchasing it on Ebay. I was told to take it to the Apple Store (30 plus miles away) and then pay for the repairs and then submit a copy of the receipt for reimbursement. I refused to go that far with a MacPro desktop so they sent a Fed Ex label which took 4 days to arrive at their location in KS from Texas . I was told I would have it back within 3-5 days . Now I get calls from On Process Technology claiming I'll be charged $350 for not returning the first (broken) replacement phone. They ended up refunding me the full price of my 2 year old laptop, refunding my protection plan, and mailed back my hard drive and SSD with all of my files! After purchasing a new laptop, they had one with the specs I was looking for at Best Buy, I decided not to go with the geek squad protection and opted to go with Squaretrade again because of the price. Now I'm sure Best Buy could have replaced it sooner, but with the way I back up my system it shouldn't matter if I have to wait longer for the device to be mailed back. Purchased a phone at Target. I was fraudulently signed up for this insurance, without consent. I called explaining I never authorized the charges from my bank account as I have insurance through my wireless provider. They offered to cancel but not refund my money. I spoke with a supervisor and explained I would be reporting them to my bank for fraud & wouldn't you know it. Suddenly they said they would refund the money. UPDATE - After reading my review SquareTrade contacted me. While maintaining that damage was not included in my coverage, they did offer to reimburse me as a good will gesture. One of the reasons I bought it is, they listed the screen as something covered and I knew it would be expensive to replace if needed. I've never broken a phone before, but it finally happened. The first resistance from Square Trade? Do you have the receipt? Fortunately I did! Then, "simply fill out the online claim form". Online, they ask a host of needless questions designed to stop you. Then, when you finally hit the 'Submit" button, instantaneously "Claim Denied". It was "accidental damage" and that's not covered. Well, it was when I paid for the plan. I should've smelled a rat when they never emailed a copy of my plan as was promised. When I called, and they knew they were going to deny, why did they have me do the whole online thing? I'm sure they'll reply with their typical "I'm sorry, but you are screwed" response. These replies are designed to make the customer look ill-informed. I know what I bought. AND, just look how often they need to reply! Notice how they can reply, but the customer can't rebut? I signed up for monthly Square Trade coverage when I purchased a new phone and wanted it for 1 year. After that time, the value of my phone dropped enough that it wasn't worth continuing. My plan paperwork says I could cancel from their site or by calling. Beware! I cancelled from the site but there must have been a problem and I didn't realize it until much later. (Honestly, I should've checked my card statement earlier to catch this.) Unfortunately I had no proof, so over the phone they cancelled it for me and said they'd refund 2 months. It's been a week and I still don't see that refund. Moral of the story: document everything (most laptops allow screen recordings) and consider cancelling over the phone since that should be less error-prone. read more

This business was honest until it was bought out by All State. My son bought a keyboard and Square Trade warranty last Xmas. It is well within the two year warranty. There were some drops of water or condensation spilled on it from a drink and it stopped working. Though the Square Trade warranty says covered for "Accidental damage from handling (ADH), such as damage from drops, spills and liquid damage associated with the handling and use of Your Product, if the coverage has been offered and purchased at the time of sale with your Protection Plan;" they are refusing to honor it and claim that the accidental coverage wasn't part of the original Square Trade plan. Apparently they don't offer any real coverage for products, they are just taking a few dollars from each customer. A million customers at a few bucks each equals a several million dollars of embezzlement. A class action lawyer should take over this case. I'll be happy to cooperate. read more

SquareTrade I would give you 0 stars if I could. This is the first time I have had issues with receiving a replacement cell phone that I have insurance on. My cell phone seems to be out of stock for replacement and the website makes it impossible for me to seek another option for replacement. The website is forcing me to chose the only option they have for me which is to take my cell to a genius apple bar when my phone is unrepairable and needs to be replaced. By not giving me an option that meets my needs as a costumer they are causing me financial hardship and are affecting my life negatively everyday because they are selling insurance for products that they are not insuring yet charging customers wrongfully and this is false advertisement. I do not recommend. This is a company that partners with Allstate and provides insurance for all types of items for electronica devices. I Purchased my insurance when I made my original purchase of a Fitbit. I took the time to read the fine print in detail however upon my item becoming damaged due to no fault of my own I contacted them to get a replacement. I was told to get a replacement I had to pay a deductible. This informations is note in the fine print. Its ays nothing about a deductible. It says full coverage including shipping! I noted this to them stating that is not in their policy and if their policy has changed they should've updated policyholders. After speaking with the representative I was told that I would not have to pay the deductible less than 24 hours later I was contacted by someone within their office is sitting that I would have to pay the deductible asked to speak to a supervisor and was not provided my request. UPDATE: SquareTrade contacted me, and we have came to an agreeable resolution to our situation. Summary of my initial claim with SquareTrade: I purchased a SquareTrade warranty for an HP Streambook. The laptop was sent in for repairs. I received an email stating that they had received the computer, and that it would be repaired within 2-5 days, and it would be shipped back within 2 days of repairs... (for those keeping track, maximum time without a computer should have been 7 days). TEN days later, I received a call from my daughter (who is in college out of state), wanting to know when she can expect her laptop, because she's got term papers due, assignments that need submitted online, tests and midterms to study for-- and no computer. I had received an email request from the company to "take a moment to leave us a review" over a week prior, so I thought that meant that the computer had been repaired and returned. My daughter was concerned that the computer had been returned, and possibly stolen from the mailbox. I called the company to check on the status of the claim, and found out that the computer was still with SquareTrade, awaiting repairs. The part to fix the computer was not in stock, and was on back order. I was not updated with any information that there were delays in getting parts, or repairing the computer until I called. The ETA on the part to fix the computer, was over a week out. SquareTrade's initial resolution was offering to refund the cost of the warranty, wait for the part to come in, then repair the computer and send it to my daughter. This would have taken at least another 7-10 days, possibly longer. My daughter is in the engineering program at a university, so this option was completely unacceptable. She could not risk failing a semester of classes, because she did not have access to a computer. We felt we had no choice except to purchase a new computer for her, so that she could complete her studies for the semester. The whole reason I had purchased the SquareTrade warranty, was because I had been told it was a "5 day repair or replace" guaranty. If ANYTHING were to happen to the computer during the coverage period, it would be covered. The longest my daughter would be without her computer would be approximately 7 days (5 days, plus shipping time). After speaking with another supervisor (Kristopher), in response to my initial review, it appears that the warranty was misrepresented to us at the time we purchased it. The warranty is actually "most repairs completed in 2-5 days" not "all repairs"-- because there can be instances where the computer is repairable, but the part to repair the computer may not be readily available. While I do appreciate this; I felt that there had been a complete lack of communication of the part of SquareTrade (we were unaware of the delay); and that for a college student, any significant delay is unacceptable-- it could mean the difference between a successful or failing semester. RESOLUTION: The supervisor (Kristopher) took a look at our case, and was able to offer a resolution that our daughter is happy with. Because SquareTrade reached out to us, and went to extra mile to contact both my daughter (in another state), and myself, I feel that they do care about their customers, and are trying to help them in any way possible. I'm changing the review I initially posted, to reflect the resolution of our claim. I would have given SquareTrade a 5 star review, had they given this resolution initially, without my having to contact them. read more

This is an awful company. Stay away from them, use any other service. I filed a claim with them for a repair of my phone. Broken back Glass of S10. In the process of filing the claim they asked for my credit card to charge $149 deductible. When I had finished filing the claim they told me to go to local repair store, have it repaired and send them the invoice. Which I did. Fortunately the repair costed only $117. SquareTrade told me they would not charge me the deductible. Why did they request my CC information? This is not an insurance company, this is a scam. read more

Nightmare fiasco! I bought a cell phone though Costco along with a Square Trade warranty. I filled a claim as the phone was water damaged and deemed unserviceable by Apple. It was still within the warranty period. An "unwarranted XR " was not available. I contacted Square Trade 5 times via email and by phone and we're very responsive, but each time they requested something more to do. I even spoke with a supervisor and they said they needed a replacement cost which I submitted in my original documentation. This was a legitimate claim and after 10 days without a phone dealing with SquareTrade I had to get another phone. The XR phone was not available at my at T mobile so I got another model. I continued to work my claim and submitted more documents.
