I have had the worst experience with Square Trade an Allstate company. It took almost a month after filing for them to send a replacement which was not the same Samsung model that I insured. Then when the replacement came it came damaged. And I have been calling everyday since to get a replacement for the replacement with no success. Every representative repeats the same thing that "I will receive an email within 24 hours it's been 8 business days with no updates! This has been a horrible experience. The last time I received an email updating me was 3/13. And when I call for an update the only thing I can hear is they are working on it on the back end and I should receive an email with 24 hours. I WILL update this review with any relevant updates. I purchased an extended warranty 3 years warranty through Newegg when I bought my daughter a laptop for her college master's degree course. The warranty I purchased I bought the premium one they had because she is on college and it can with a 5 day turn around guarantee (5 days from when they received it). The received almost 2 weeks ago and I've called many times to get the run around and told I would get a call back. After many calls I finally got a call back from Ameem an Escalation agent from the Corporate resolutions team yesterday afternoon. He apologized for all the times I didn't get a call back and promised he would personally handle it. He told me that the updates stated it would be repaired and completed on the 17th and mailed out 18th that day, and he would contact the repair dept and make sure it was and it it wasn't he would give me alternative options and pay me for laptop. Mind you I record every conversation I have with this people. He said he would personally contact me by phone with in 24 hours. He didn't he emailed me and said parts would be there until 23rd or 24th now and he hope that will be ok and if I need any further assistance to respond to his email. Which I directly did and said NO I CANT WAIT YOU PROMISED THAT IT WOULD BE HANDLED TODAY AND YOU WOULD CALL. I even called and then sent him messages to let him know I need him to call me. Remember 5 day guarantee. Well oddly enough he just called and stated after telling me he would have an alternative for me today, now states he needs another day. This insurance company is an absolute scam!!! Do not use it!!! My phone got wet and no longer worked. I filed a claim on June 29 and followed the instructions and took my phone to Apple for repair. Apple said the phone could not be repaired and provided documentation. I submitted the documentation and called on July 1 to explain the phone could not be repaired. The person I spoke with was helpful and said they were ordering a new phone and it would arrive at my house in 3-4 business days. Fast forward to July 10 I still had not received a replacement phone. I called again and was told that the phone was never ordered. After waiting on hold I was informed they don't even have my phone in stock and they don't know when a replacement would be available. Deplorable service. Avoid buying an extended warranty from Costco for appliances. Allstate ( also under the name of SquareTrade) is truly worst-in-class when it comes to servicing appliance warranties. It was a two month nightmare that was ultimately resolved within one day after filing a complaint to the BBB. TIME SAVING TIP - If SquareTrade can't fix your issue within two weeks, file a formal complaint with the BBB. Don't waste your time dealing with their call center employees. I wish I could go back in time and do that. Calling SquareTrade if there's an issue is a major hassle and frustrating. You'll thank me for this tip. SquareTrade FAILS In two key areas. FIRST: I was forced to use SquareTrade's assigned appliance repair company. This "company" is one the lowest rated shops on Yelp and Google. Hundred of negative reviews of workmanship issues and/or just not showing up to scheduled appointments.. This was not a certified repair company. They worked out of their personal car and wore street clothing. Zero due dillagece performed by SquareTrade. In the end I was left with a water damaged floor and a bricked dishwasher. SECOND: Usually a result of issue number 1, but if you find yourself calling SquareTrade's support you're in for a long wait for any type of update or escalation. Every time you call expect to be told "Two business day wait" for your update, question, or a request for a supervisor to contact you via email. Three weeks of my total ordeal was basically "waiting for SquareTrade". Their front line support has no training or authority to provide you with service issues you're having on your claim.. My Horror Story: So once approved for a dishwasher warranty claim, SquareTrade had to order my parts, ship the parts to me, and book their preferred appliance repair company. In my case it was Yelp's and Google's lowest rated appliance repair company in San Diego. Anyway, the repair company came over and said the parts that SquareTrade sent were wrong and the correct part would have to be resubmitted to SquareTrade, then SquareTrade would ship it to me, and then I would have to book another appointment. One more week without a dishwasher.. So after a few days of not hearing an update I find out through SquareTrade that the appliance repair company never followed through with ordering the new part. SquareTrade front end support can't do anything but they do send me to an escalation team which itself had a two business day waiting period before they could assist. So another week of NOT having a working dishwasher. So the process starts again. They ship me a new part, have to wait another week before repairman can install the new part. So we're close to a month now of not having a working dishwasher. BTW, I tried multiple times to escallate my dissatisfaction of owning a warranty and not having a working dishwasher after a month since my claim was approved.. SquareTrade just sends me to a different department ( two business day wait), and Costco says that because SquareTrade is a third party they have no authority over their actions. So the repair company finally fixed the main issue, but the part (a pump) is much louder than before. This was a low noise dishwasher but not now.. Whatever, at least I don't have to handwash anymore...right? This could have been the ending of this story...but... Three days later.....Dishwasher stops working. Alarm on the machine goes off. States water is leaking. Sure enough, water appears to be leaking from the area where the new part was installed and the floor underneath dishwasher is flooded. They clearly didn't install the part correctly... I first called the repair shop directly because calling SquareTrade always results in a two day turnaround on any reported issues. Shocked/Not shocked, the repair company proceeded to tell me that their first availability to look at the issue is TWO WEEKS to fix THEIR botched install. All pervious appointments were less than a week. Infuriated I call SquareTrade. Frontline support can't do anything but again send me back to their escalation team. Another two business day wait. FOUR days later (because the weekend) and they tell me there isn't anything they can do to escalate the repair time. I even requested a different repair company to fix the issue but they didn't even acknowledge that was an option. So stupid.. As I approach two months, the repair company finally comes by to fix their previously failed repair. Repair tech says an internal water hose has cracked and states he has to order a new part and the whole SquareTrade process will have to start again. I call SquareTrade again and report their third failed visit. This was mostly to document repeated incompetence and to file a formal complaint with Costco and the BBB. A totally unreliable warranty service agreement. My LG refrigerator stopped being cold - fridge and freezer. Allstate Squaretrade company scheduled an appointment to do an onsite inspection to determine the problem. This was on April 8, 2025. After three missed service appointments a new compressor was finally installed in June of 2025. I had to provide a backup refrigerator the entire time as the refrigerator was located in my rental unit. On August 8, 2025 I found out the ice maker had failed. I reported this to Squaretrade and they scheduled a service call on August 15, 2025 between 8AM and 5 PM to be provided by LG ELECTRONICS. When no one showed by noon I called LG ELECTRONICS and was told they informed Squaretrade on August 11th they did not have technicians available at my location, Maui, Hawaii. The worst and most defficient extended warranty company. Not all agents have the same skills, and you have to explain the same things to process your claim. If 5 agents attend, you have to explain the same things to get to the final point of your claim. If the estimate from company X doesn't say what they want, you've lost the money; they'll only pay you for the appliance. I have 5 active warranties with Square Trade from 3 years ago, but I would never buy a new one. I prefer to buy at Best Buy, they have their own technicians (Geek Squad) and everything is kept in-house. Square Trade is an absolute scam. We. bought an outdoor sectional couch from Nebraska Furniture Mart. The salesman highly encouraged us to get this amazing insurance that covers everything and raved about how easy it is to use. One day we came outside to see that several rips and holes were in our couch cushions. We sent a claim to Square Trade and included pictures. We kept our receipt which included a flyer outlining the insurance coverage where it clearly stated "rips, tears and punctures" as covered under this policy. In our claim, we speculated that a squirrel or some small rodent caused the holes (having no idea of what actually caused the holes / rips). Square Trade responded quickly saying that since the rips/holes were caused by squirrels, it was not covered and promptly closed the claim. This protection plan is a joke and borderline fraudulent. I bought my furniture from Nebraska Furniture Mart. After two years, I noticed some spots on the fabric, so I contacted SquareTrade multiple times. The first time, they sent a technician from a cleaning company. He briefly cleaned the sofas but didn't remove the spots. He told me he would report the issue to the company and that it would be resolved within 1 or 2 business days. However, I never received any follow-up emails or phone calls. I called them again and again, but it didn't help. Each time, they promised to email me within one business day, but I still haven't heard anything. It's been almost three months! After the time passes still no resolution, call in again basically get the same answer. This organization has been a nightmare to work with. No issue taking your money for a warranty, but when it comes to placing a claim on the purchased warranty, there is no desire to assist. Have been in contact with them dozens of times, jumped through every hoop communicated, and still no remedy. Everywhere on social media and the rest of the internet everyone talks about how terrible of a company SquareTrade is. I bought a policy for my refrigerator about 4 years ago. It recently started to have mechanical issues, so I called SquareTrade. This is the 3rd issue I needed to call them them before do I know the dance at this point. My refrigerator is broken and there's no one who can fix it in my area. But the process to get to that was painful. I had to resubmit the claim around 5 times because the CSRs I was talking too, connected the wrong policy to the item in question which didn't cover the dollar amount. Then once that was sorted after a week I had to upload pictures and give an explanation into what was going on. This eventually turned into me having to send videos over and over again. This lasted around 2 weeks. I was so fed up that I had to demand to talk to a supervisor and then a senior supervisor. The senior supervisor sounded like he was based in the US. He was actually helpful, and helped me process things. There was no one in my area that could fix my fridge so we decided reimbursement was the best course of action. I was told my check would sent out and I would receive it in 5 days. This was on the 20th. Since I've lost all my trust in SquareTrade I reached out to verify that the check has been sent. I was told it was sent out on the 21st. The first CSR I spoke to about this said they don't use USPS and they only use UPS or FedEx. (This turned out to be a lie, but that's on brand for SquareTrade) The next day I reached out again to verify this. I needed to know for sure because UPS and FedEx don't leave anything in a mailbox, and I desperately need to replace my refrigerator. A different CSR told me they send mail through USPS only and it was shipped on the 21st. I asked to speak to a senior supervisor again because last time I was able to get traction with my claim that way. The senior supervisor said the check was sent out on the 22nd through USPS. This seems like another lie. Today is now the 30th and still no check. I'm not sure what to even do at this point, is there some sort of legal action I can take? They won't send a check with a tracking number which makes me think they aren't even sending checks. I've seen similar stories from others. I gave them the receipt showing Best buy was out here along with the email from the technician stating what the issue was with the television. Took 21 days and 3 service companies coming out to get a simple ice maker fixed. The first two techs did no diagnosis but only replaced the parts SquareTrade sent directly to us. They replaced the ice maker, an inlet valve and attempted to replace the control board. Finally, the third attempt resulted in repair. Only to find out it was a simple broken wire at the base and NO PARTS needed to be replaced!! This simple repair should have been fixed with one visit if only SquareTrade had sent qualified techs to make the repair. Can not recommend SquareTrade based on our terrible experience. I was out of town and not accessible to my secretary who was told to file a claim for damage to my dining room table. Allstate would not take his call and he had to resort to online claim but required a code be sent to my phone. He gave up. I have proof of this. We I came home one day past a 30 day cut off, Allstate stated it was past 30 days and they not accept claim. After email proof of their phone system not allow you to call them for the code and my assistant also put the date of occurrence at May 1 when he was guessing when it was May 17, Allstate did not care. I called Wayfair and they washed their hands of the matter even though they admitted that Allstate finds ways to not pay for most of their claims. I am out of $155 for a 5 year warranty and no repair of my dining room table. Next is the lawyer, bad reviews and never buy from Wayfair again. I've been going round and round with them for a week to get them to replace a burnt out power supply for our electric reclining couch. They finally agreed to honor the warranty so they are sending me a kit to clean stains on the couch. Our couch isn't stained, I never said anything about stains, and I'm wondering how a stain kit is going to fix the power supply issue. On top of that, the fedex tracking number they provided me shows that fedex has no record of this tracking number. Well, my first encounter with Square Trade Protection Plan was not promising. I bought a Bernhardt loveseat 2 1/2 years ago from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I took out the five year protection plan with the understanding that during that five years I had one cleaning by a professional for free. Well I have a serious stain problem. I had a little boy sleeping on the loveseat last night (6/13/2025) and he peed on it and there was excessive pee that ran on the cushions and between the cushions and onto to the base on the loveseat. I was offered by Square Trade to send me a cleaning kit for me to clean it myself. I paid $299.99 for that protection plan. The loveseat cost $1759.99 + tax. Total $2359.82. I think Square Trade needs to rethink their offer because I will not accept that. I think Nebraska Furniture Mart needs to know how Square Trade is treating NBM customers. I purchased a reclining loveseat and extended SquareTrade warranty from Nebraska Furniture Mart in Aug 2022. In May 2023, the recliner mechanism stopped working and the loveseat is extended in my den in the fully reclined position. I filed a claim with SquareTrade on May and as of today, 7 MONTHS LATER, it is not repaired. ("parts are on order"). Everytime I follow-up they're going to escalate to the highest authority in their company and they're going to get it resolved. They've done nothing. Now I'm on hold with a supervisor and she's looking at the situation but she comes back trying to get me to buy a plan re a new freezer. Finally I get a link to update my information and it goes. This took a long time, people on the phone don't know what they are doing. At the beginning of the year I will be looking at something else. Worse experience ever!! Were supposed to replace top grade TV with similar replacement. After jumping through hoops to get a replacement it finally arrived!! The worst replacement ever (Hinesee) was dispatched weeks later!! We returned it and asked for an apple to Apple TV!! After countless hours spent on the phone with supervisors the conversation is the same with sending me the same TV!! The staff at square trade are very nice but the worst customer care employees I've ever had the misfortune to have to deal with and the case still is ongoing after 7 weeks!! Do not , I repeat do not deal with these people, do not buy a square trade warranty under any circumstances if you want to keep your sanity!!!! Absolutely shocking!!!!
