I am so glad I was proved incorrect by Okan, and we already cannot wait to go back. Eating at Okan was easy for me because almost everything was gluten free on the menu. While it was a hard choice, we went with the macaroni and cheese, cashew curry, and curried goat tonight. We also had 3 drinks, all of which were delicious. The Trini macaroni was so perfectly done with Gouda and in a small cast iron skillet. Crispy browned cheese crust, creamy filling, and it truly was multiple steps above any standard macaroni and cheese. I loved how ooey gooey it was, and it was rich without being overwhelming. The curried goat and rice was delicious. Light, not greasy or too rich, and each bite was perfectly tender. We both loved the rice - perfectly cooked and seasoned, and along with the veggies, this was such a special dish. This curried goat was comfort in a bowl. The star of this meal was the cashew curry with lobster. I just didn't know that curry could taste like this. The depth of flavor we tasted in this curry was special - it was earthy and brought the sweet lobster to life. We received two pieces of lobster, and while the smaller piece was a little overcooked, the larger piece was perfectly tender and paired so wonderfully with the curry and potatoes. I just loved every layer of this dish and cannot wait to get it again the next time we come. The service was lovely. She was full of recommendations and did a great job with helping us decide which dishes to consumer. Also, do not sleep on the Sinsun drink. Honestly, all of the drinks we had were FANTASTIC. I loved how they meshed so well with our dishes - Smoky, earthy, not sweet, and light. I loved the vibe here; it was sensual. You could feel the heart and love and soul that went into this menu and the food. You could tell all the thought put into the restaurant layout, down to the wood used for the bar and the color of the napkins and silverware. The Oyster Po-Boy added an extra $1.00. So that's what I ordered----half oyster Po-Boy with Shrimp & Corn soup. The soup tasted like it may have been homemade. It was excellent with at least 6 medium size shrimp along with a delicious corn and seafood broth. The half Po-Boy was definitely a good size packed with large fried oysters. They had a separate room which I didn't visit. I'm guessing for larger parties or overflow. I believe they also serve alcohol although I didn't see a bar when I was there. The restaurant is very charming, it's giving off White Barn Inn Kennebunkport vibes. Once you're seated, you'll see why this is a popular Low Country restaurant. We're all given menus and what I noticed was a game changer. Farm is offering a three course tasting menu but the entire table has to participate. My wife was feeling under the weather so I grabbed the waiter to the side and said, we're all in with the tasting menu except my wife. Can you make an exception? Not a problem sir! The three course menu does not include the popular Farm corn bread. I placed an order before our tasting started. You're probably saying, what's so special about corn bread? Man... If lovin' you is wrong, I don't wanna be right. The corn bread was cooked in a skillet pan, the end result was a buttery, sweet treat. The sharable starters came to the table. Roasted May River Oysters, Beef Carpaccio and Burrata with shaved ham. The Roasted May River Oysters were my favorite bite of all these selections. The oysters were large and plumpy and the chef did not overcook the shell fish. Next, the waiter dropped off a huge bowl of Shrimp Rice along with a Heritage Pork Chop. This is what elevated southern cooking is all about, the pork chop was moist and had a wonderful taste. Another highly recommended dish. Dessert, I was starting to get really full but the Blueberry Olive Oil cake did not disappoint. There was a Toll House Hand Made Pie, also very good but I really full at this point of the meal. That selection was impossible to be disappointed with. The food is sourced locally, the taste is exceptional, and the service (shout-out to Justin) is outstanding. We just planned a return visit to Bluffton for May. This is what a low-country dining experience should be.
