Our server, Michelle, was fantastic! Good food, good service, good vibes! Just a bike ride away from our stay for absolute perfection!

    Blackened mahi-mahi sandwich.

A very disappointing experience. There was a hugh contrast between our two plates. The Fish & Chips was a $25 basket that contained two pieces of fish (that was nowhere near crisp) with a lot of fries. The amount of cold slaw in the side dish would not have filled a tablespoon and it looked like they scraped the bottom of the bowl to get that. I'm very doubtful this was freshly prepared fish. It tasted like it came from the freezer section and it had the soggy coating that comes with fish from a box. And it was listed at "Market Price" which as $25. The mahi-mahi sandwich, on the other hand, was really good and it was a hearty portion. It was also $25. Our table was also sticky. We did arrive at what looked like the end of a very busy rush. The place was almost empty, but there were only a handful of tables cleared and ready for new customers.

Mahi Mahi sandwich with fries, beans and rice.

Food was good. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend. We got a pepperoni pizza. Fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken. Mahi Mahi sandwich with sides.

The staff was very friendly. Leah was our server and she was great with our kiddos. Food arrived quickly and good drinks!

The restaurant is a cute vibe in a convenient location, but the quality of the food was meh and the service was slow.

It doesn't feel corporate or manufactured at all. More like you've stumbled into somebody's lovingly chaotic backyard dinner party where the food just happens to be genuinely top-tier. The mismatched charm, handwritten feel, and warm atmosphere are part of what makes it so special. There's this brilliant contrast between the laid-back hole-in-the-wall vibe and the seriously refined cooking coming out of the kitchen. We started with the fried green tomatoes which were incredibly tender, fried perfectly, and drizzled with a lovely house-made ranch. The sweet house pickles alongside were such a good touch. We also each had a cup of she crab soup which was beautifully seasoned and packed with tonnes of crab morsels. For mains, we shared the shrimp and grits and completely understood why the recipe has won awards, including being recognised as the 3rd best in the world. The recipe is rooted in traditional Lowcountry cooking but elevated with layers of flavour that somehow still feel comforting and homemade. The grits were unbelievably creamy, and the shrimp and sausage were perfectly cooked with fantastic flavour throughout. We also split the seafood purloo with blackened grouper, and it was equally impressive. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredibly fresh without trying too hard to be fancy. What really made the experience though was the staff. Everyone went above and beyond. They took time to chat with us about the area, paced the courses perfectly so nothing felt rushed, and by the end we were leaving with handshakes feeling more like guests than customers. Places like this are getting harder to find. We'll absolutely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Lowcountry food served by genuinely wonderful people.

He said it was generally more of a local than a tourist place, though everyone is welcome. They share a large parking lot with a shopping plaza. It appears that there is a Publix going in soon. Also, some areas had signs about using a QR code to validate parking, but apparently those were not activated yet (and seemed unpopular with the staff). It was fairly crowded when we arrived (probably 9:30 a.m.). However, they apparently just expanded and took over the adjoining space (formerly a t-shirt shop). So though the 'original' booths and counter stools were mostly taken, there appeared to be open tables in the new space. Service was sort of tag-team; whoever walked by and noticed that you needed something tried to take care of it. That is in no way a complaint - it was an efficient system. We all ordered and had a short wait for the food, given the volume of customers. When it arrived, everyone liked their platters. I had a cheese omelet, bacon, and hash browns. All were quite tasty. The coffee was good too. Prices were reasonable. I'm not much of a 'breakfast out' person at home, but if I were on HHI for any period of time, I'd definitely go back here.

They do have some a lot of dead space that they can use to expand for seating as the wait for a table can be a little long, but it's so worth it. Food is just fresh and good. You can tell it's made by love if you have an opportunity to set a counter you won't regret it. Make sure you talk to your counter mate. Somehow, we still waited 35 minutes just to be seated. After finally sitting down, we ordered immediately and then waited over 40 more minutes for food that wasn't even hot. To make matters worse, two of the orders were wrong. The pancakes came out with no syrup, and our server was basically nonexistent, only showing up twice in an hour, so we had to get up and get it ourselves. The poached eggs on the fourth meal were severely undercooked and practically raw. What made the experience even worse was having two young children with us who were completely melting down by the end because everything took so long. A restaurant should know better than to leave families sitting that long with no urgency, no communication, and no follow-up. What should have been a simple breakfast turned into a two-hour waste of time with bad service, poorly prepared food, and zero attention to detail. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence. I would absolutely not recommend this place.

First off, the restaurant is located perfect in a shopping center with plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating. The ordering style is synonymous of most of the "build-your-own" restaurants. I opted for a burrito and chose the "Java Special" as my choice of protein. It has a mix of steak and chicken, cooked in queso. The burrito was delicious and well portioned. Typically, a leaky burrito would turn-off some people from the food, including myself, but it was delicious nonetheless. I went back the next morning for some coffee and opted for a speciality Dubai Chocolate coffee. It was delicious to the point where we could not stop talking about it all morning. All in all, I love eating at Java Burrito whether I want a hefty meal or just some quality coffee. It's to the point where it's a guaranteed visit whenever I make my way down to the island.
