Legendary Buffalo wings
Robbie R.

Surprisingly good airport food! Fast service, good atmosphere, and a great spot if in the SLC airport. We got their "legendary" wings which were good but I think not quite up to the title. The nachos also were really tasty and quite the portion!

Breakfast Sandwich

(6/29/2023) needed some substantial brunch before getting on a cross-country flight and wanted something local-ish; we saw the Squatters Pub Brewery downtown. The place was packed, but we only waited s few moments for a small table. The Breakfast Sandwich and Breakfast Burrito (smothered in Pork Chili Colorado) were both as described, pretty tasty and very filling. The Pork Chili Colorado was rather salty, but I applied it as a condiment. The service was attentive and quick, likely used to airport dining pace. My coffee came in a to-go cup, which I appreciate in an airport restaurant, in case I gotta run. Great stop, if you have the time.

a shot of salt lake city
Judi D.

My usual dinner place at SLC has closed so I was casting about trying to find a decent place to eat at the Salt Lake City Airport on a Thursday evening on a three hour layover. You know how that is. Thank you, Yelpers!! Long line and a good wait, maybe 20 minutes, to get in But everyone seated and everyone standing around - about 12 ppl when I queued up, perhaps 15 by the time I got seated - seemed just happy to hv the opportunity to be traveling again, and no one was ugly. Yea, traveling public! The wait tho gave me a chance to peruse Yelp reviews; I ordered the calamari and the yellow curry with shrimp. The latter was the standout. No heat to it, which was good by me, but terrific flavor, everything melded together well without being gloppy. Hip, hip, hooray! The calamari was good too, just not memorably outstanding- or bad (always a plus) Gary was a wonderful server, observant, polite, friendly and even tho quite busy, checked in and topped off at a good pace. He really made my meal a pleasure.

Phenomenal! Super big portions and service was fast. There's a separate to go ordering on the left side that's perfect if you're limited on time.

Mushroom and Leek soup, with a Mormon Mule to accompany. Super delicious

I love this place! The staff is crazy excellent at what they do, they are crazy personable and of course, the food and beer are great! Yes, I realize I have a mixed drink in the image but they are so thoughtful with their beer and food pairings, I think it is impossible to compare. It is a really popular location so if you see a line for seating, don't get discouraged as it moves fairly quickly. Tbh, I don't know that I have ever waited longer than ten minutes to be seated. It is well worth the wait!

Just look at that pretzel
Silvia L.

Best pretzel I ever tasted, like it was taken out freshly from the oven (which it might of been).

Local!!

I saw on their chalkboard "we have local kombucha" & as I am attracted to the local and unusual I stopped in. Their 4 flavors of kombucha were not on the menu of which I tried 3; lavender honey (2nd very delicate with a honey taste), ginger mint (3rd perfect), lime mint (1st very refreshing), concord grape. I got a blackened tilapia salad which although the big piece of tilapia was overcooked everything was so flavorful that I hardly needed the dressing. It literally came out fast, in under 3 minutes Also ordered a cup of tomato bisque which the first waiter forgot. Must have been end of his shift as he disappeared. New waiter was much more attentive. The bisque was too sweet but had a good smoky flavor and some texture like I like it. They didn't have a gluten free dessert. They has very high quality almost cloth like 100% recycled napkins

Great breakfast sandwich

Very nice bison burger. Enough there to hold a person for quite awhile. Ate at the bar. Drank water but enjoyed the place.

After getting my last beer and finding a seat in the back, the shy bartender somehow found his courage to engage and serve other folks, so I naturally took it personally. The ambiance was nice in that it felt like an authentic brewery, not a restaurant that serves beer like some establishments closer to downtown. On a Tuesday, tacosdaddyfoodtruckslc was on the scene serving a brilliant smothered burrito, albeit a bit heavy on rice but still amazing. When I asked a bartender to compare and contrasts two beers, they did so lifelessly and unconvincingly without asking me first what I preferred. It reinforced my perception that the establishment is either low on customer service or selective in the welcoming of guests. I was the oldest person in the brewery at the time and I hope that had nothing to do with it. I was also concerned with their lack of descriptions on their brews, only presenting a name on a wall. A serious and reputable brewer will attempt to communicate their beer to aficionados and this lack of information made me question their commitment to the craft. These are all management issues and given that these deficiencies were outwardly obvious, it makes me wonder what other issues I would find with a little more time here. That said, I was here once and that's enough. Edit: I read the rest of the reviews and I am so happy to learn that their bad customer service, including ignoring customers, is legendary. I got suckered in by the high rating, while failing to read the one- and two-star reviews. I went to another brewery in the area yesterday and am off to have another there (cutting my time here short). I wish this place were better.

For those familiar with the PNW chain, Squatters feels like the Utah equivalent of McMenamins, in a…read morecertain way: certainly not in quirkiness, style or ambiance (of which they could not be further apart), but in their ubiquity - it seems like they're everywhere, even though there are only four(?) of them. We visited at least two, during our four days in SLC. This one was the first: a cathedral-style brewpub with a sports bar aesthetic, with decent food, decent drinks, decent service, and decent prices. Everything was decent. You're not likely to be disappointed by anything you order, but you're not likely to be blown away by anything, either (another thing Squatters has in common with McMenamins, I'd say). During our second visit (to another location, but I'm sure the same rule applies), our party was only interested in ordering drinks (one per person, mind you), but we were informed that we *had* to order some sort of food to accompany them (I'm sure this is more of a Utah thing, rather than a Squatter's thing, but still annoying), so bear that in mind if you're looking for a place to just chill with a beverage and watch a game. Still, the vibe here is lively and friendly; assuming your server is as well, which was a coin flip, in our experience. For a fast, casual chain of brewpubs, Squatters has a lot going for it, and I can see why they are popular, as clearly as I can see ways in which they can improve. A little more focus, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence, and Squatters could absolutely dominate in SLC, and beyond.

The host was great, very friendly very personable. We original wanted to sit outside because it was a nice day but they didn't have any shade. So we sat inside. Our waitress was intentive at first. I don't like that they won't bring cold ice water. I have to go get my own water that's lukewarm. It Was very warm in there probably 80° or hotter. They had no air flow in there no air conditioning. The door to the outside seating was wide open. We were sweating and very uncomfortable. Our waitress took our drink order then came back and we told her what appetizer we wanted to start with, before we could tell her what entree we wanted she took off. We just thought okay I guess she's in a hurry so we'll just tell her our order when she comes back with the appetizer. 5 minutes later she shows up with the appetizer but then doesn't take our food order and just leaves. Then she never came back. I thought she'd at least come back to check on our drinks or see how our appetizer was tasting but no. 30 minutes later after we finished our appetizer and definitely needed another drink by then. We decided to just leave. We wanted to try a couple of different beers and get 1 Pizza each. Not a very good waitress. Plus I was already sweating to death so I couldn't wait to get out of there. Who doesn't turn on their air conditioning when it's over 80° outside?

Trivia: Pappy is special because of its wheat and extended aging process and limited selection…read more What is Pappy? At Whiskey Street, I had two issues: I ordered a salad and it never arrived. My wagyu steak came out and I was irritated that the salad hadn't come first. But then the salad didn't come at all. Bummer. And the steak was questions all around. First they didn't know what cut of steak it was. "It's Wagyu" they said, as if all that mattered was where it came from. And just to make sure I wasn't an idiot, I looked up to make sure that Wagyu, like other beef, had various cuts. And the meal was rather salty. And the steak was far closer to rare than medium. And it was served au poivre style, which I would have like to have known. Service was excellent. The Scottish Old-Fashioned excellent. The libation selection is unparalleled. The bar seats have a weird spring to backing so it's more like sitting on a stool with a slight back brace.

My first thought in walking in was yay! It has such great personality, even a bartender with a handle mustache! Quite on a mid Saturday afternoon. We started brunch with drinks - Irish coffee for my friend which was enjoyable and a hot toddy for me which was quite citrusy. Next came our Benedicts. No betrayal here (sorry I know, cheesy!). What makes a good Benedict is the sauce and this one didn't disappoint. Usually I ask that the sauce be on the side but this time I forgot and trust me, that was ok. One of the best I've had that even made a great compliment to the very tasty potatoes. Don't worry, the potatoes were great on their own! Nice touch of flavor, soft inside and crisp outside. Perfect amount - barely too much that made up for two meals!

Ordering was kind of confusing because you had to wait in line instead of just walking up to the bar. One of the bartenders quickly explained it to us so we got in line. The line moved very quickly. Once we ordered our first beers, we sat at the bar and our bartender then took the rest of our orders while seated there. It seemed like once you ordered and established your seats, you could get waited on at your table but you had to order through the line first. There were 3 or 4 bartenders covering the bar and all the various seating areas. Our bartender was very attentive and we never had empty glasses before she was asking if we wanted another round. There was one time where she got side tracked and there was a very slight delay in bringing the next round for my wife and she profusely apologized and comped that round, but we didn't even notice the delay, to be honest. All the beers were great and the handmade pretzel from a place down the street was delicious. The tasting notes on their menu were spot on for the 5 or 6 beers we tried. They have a lot of seating in the main area and large patio in the back that were both pretty crowded, which is why we sat at the bar. We later found out about their "barrel room" that is in the back behind all the brewing equipment. One of the bar backs said it was a more laidback and quiet area. We peaked back there before we left and had we known about it, we would have sat back there because it's exactly like how it was described. Even with the large crowd we had a great time and it never seemed crowded with the speed of service we got.

The german beers here are one of the best and phenomenal. I can't get enough. The IPA is here are solid as well. Great vibes has TV with sports and a lot of seating and outdoors as well. The only issue I have unfortunately at this visit was I was trying to grab a glass to take home with me. However, there was a huge line for people to get carded so the front desk guy wanted to card them in first. That was understandable as that created a huge line and backed up the front door. However, someone came behind me with cans so he let them pay first and by the time they finish paying, more people were coming in to get carded. He decided to card them instead of letting me purchase a glass . So at that time I had just left instead of waiting for the continuous cycle of getting carded I'm having to further wait. Hopefully when things are busy, they will have someone to help out carting people in. Otherwise fantastic brewery.
