The poor service makes the good ice cream not worth it. My kids ordered ice cream - $23 worth. Like everything else on this island, it's quite expensive. I wanted to sample the chocolate and cookies and cream, but the employee said, without any affect, "no samples." As I couldn't decide, I ordered none. And neither did my wife. Further, because of this experience, all of our ice cream purchases during our 8 days on the island have been from other stores that appreciate their customers. Had they offered me the sample, we would have spent a lot of money here. Oh well. It should be noted that I sent a message to the store on Facebook describing my experience and they chose not to respond so I'm leaving this here. I found out about this place when I overheard someone in line at cinnamon beach talking about it. She said it was the "cutest local ice cream place" in St. John, so I dropped by after leaving the national park that day. It really is cute! Comes in a little pricey at $6 for one scoop and $9 for two, but what I liked were the flavors: they have all your classics, plus some fun Caribbean unique ones, for eg the flavor I got was "painkiller" which is a popular cocktail in the islands. The ice cream was creamy and I really liked the flavor! Overall this place is a nice little stop on the way into or out of the national park, because it's right there at the entrance! Don't come to the island just for this, but if you're already here it's a nice place to rest. read more

This was SO GOOD. Idk what is going on with the texture of this icecream, but it's different than most icecream i've had - and i mean this in a good way. I can't describe it but it is super good. I got the vanilla bean bourbon flavor and it was insaaaane. Idk how they got the aftertaste to be such a subtle sweet flavor of bourbon, but it's so awesome. I'd definitely recommend. read more

Not Bad, but Not impressed. Of course, there are people trying to take advantage of anything, potentially free. But seriously, they do not allow you to taste anything for free. So happens I personally almost never ask, but I was with my wife and two other adults, and at least one if not more wanted to try something, the girl nicely said I'm sorry, but we can't do that. Then it was the price, if anything, it was slightly pricey. But even worse, they among other places now charge 3% extra charge for using a credit card. I went to the St John market and purchased Häagen-Dazs ice cream. The tasted every bit as good, if not better than what this place has. Five dollars per small scoop, no AMEX allowed, but a 3% charge for a credit card, such as Visa or MasterCard Tight on allowing tasting but even tighter on the 3% credit charge. it's not terrible, but I'm in no rush to go there again read more

We went to STJ Scoops a couple times on our recent trip (Dec, '23 - Jan, '24). It's a great place. The variety of ice creams, both hard and soft serve, was impressive, and the "adult" flavors taste legitimately like what they say they are. Painkiller ice cream for me, please! STJ Scoops is located at the far east corner of Mongoose Junction. There's outdoor seating, if you want to stick around, which we did (1/3/24). It's great for couples like us, but it's PERFECT for families! We saw so many families there, probably after a full day on the beach, and what better way to finish your day on St. John than with some ice cream? Great service, too. A fun little ice cream shop on St. John that's open later than the others. We went here after dinner wanting some ice cream on a warm evening and this place did not disappoint. All of the other ice cream shops in the area had closed but this one stayed open 30 minutes later. If they were smart they would stay open an hour after all the other businesses and would make a killing. The line was wrapped around the corner. Maybe it was for the ice cream, maybe it was because it was the only shop still open. Hard to say. However, the hand made ice cream was well worth the wait. They have many flavors to choose from. Homemade toasted coconut ice cream! There seems to be a lot of coconut ice cream on this island, and this is by far the best one. You can get your ice cream in a cup or freshly made in front of you waffle cone or bowl. Aside from ice cream, they also sell healthy green smoothies.
