This is my go-to breakfast spot whenever I'm in the area. Mission City Grill is always consistent, with great service and exceptional food. We stopped by this past weekend for breakfast and ordered the California omelette, chocolate pancakes, and the Country Breakfast with pancakes. Everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. The pancakes are always a highlight--they're flavorful and definitely worth ordering. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Wifey and I found our new favorite breakfast place. In the heart of Santa clara...Mission city Grill. This place is very clean. Our server and help people are awesome and VERY friendly! We will be back for more! Our breakfast omelettes were amazing! Did I mentioned they serve free cage eggs?!?!? Definitely a place worth our money.

Another solid breakfast spot! Everyone here is very kind and attentive to their customers. Definitely recommend this place, there are plenty of options to choose from! Also we sat by the window and loved the morning shine.

I came here this morning and was pleasantly surprised. I loved the look of the restaurant from the seating to the overhead light fixtures. The service was good and my server was a very sweet older woman. I ordered the corned beef eggs Benedict and I loved every bite. As a reply to the guy complaining about being served canned corned beef, it's something I typically expect from breakfast spots and actually prefer because I like crispy edges. For him to be pissy about his breakfast corned beef coming from a can is actually ridiculous. Anyway, I also enjoyed that the English muffins were delicate yet still sturdy enough to act as a base. The cooks did a great job making everything crispy on the outside but tender and fluffy on the inside!

I just love this place so much! I come after my workouts around 11 and there's little to no line. My new obsession is the corned beef and hash with over easy eggs. Their hashbrowns are just so crisp and PERFECT!!!! Booth seating, fast service and delish food keeps me coming back!!!

Amazing experience at Mission City Grill! Came to try their brunch food (served all day by the way), and left thinking about our next visit to try their other non-brunch food options as well since their brunch was so awesome! Denver omelette - fluffiest omelette I've had in a while and they didn't skimp on the ingredients! The extra cheese on top was a nice touch. Hash browns were also crispy and delicious. I love that pancakes is an option to go with this entree. I was super surprised by the pancakes - you get two pancakes and both were super fluffy, soft, flavorful even as-is. Wow. Favorite pancakes as a side yet from any brunch place I've been to. Traditional Benedict - pretty standard benedict; perfectly poached eggs and yummy hollandaise sauce. Gilroy Garlic Fries - crispy, crunchy, garlicky fries didn't disappoint! Comes with ranch but I thought the fries were plenty flavorful enough. Loved this as well. Definitely will be coming back for more brunches or for the rest of their delicious looking menu. Folks around us ordered sandwiches and burgers and they all looked phenomenal. Plentiful parking and there wasn't a wait when I came around 1pm on a Saturday.

You're looking for a good breakfast spot. The spot was a very good option. The menu was full of different options depending on what you are in the mood for. I was in the mood for breakfast that day and I ended up getting an omelette. Place was packed full of people only waited. A little bit in our service was quick friendly into the point. The omelette was fluffy and packed with everything that I liked. I definitely recommend this spot you're looking for a different breakfast spot to choose from in the Bay Area.

I ordered the Country Fried Steak with hash browns and over easy eggs, it comes with your choice of pancakes or toast. I went with the pancakes, they were massive! It was freshly made, surprisingly it was crispy on the outside (was expecting soft) and fluffy on the inside. Very delicious, highly recommend trying it while it is still crispy, after a few mins the pancakes becomes soft on the outside, and the batter starts to stick to the mouth. So enjoy while its fresh! The fried steak was a bit on the salty side but delicious, there was so much food, I could not finish it. We also ordered the fruit crepe, without powdered sugar. Fruits were fresh, crepe was soft and not too sweet, it paired perfectly with the whipped cream and fruits.

Who can afford to eat at a "grill" with these kind of prices in this economy? $45 steak! $16 drinks? I came in for breakfast and walked right on out because what in the hell do you mean a SMALL BREAKFAST BURRITO with CHORIZO is $20!!!!

I've been coming to Mission City Grill for years! It's always been great--big portion sizes, affordable prices, and consistently good food. I've never been let down here. We got the garlic fries--probably some of the best I've ever had. They add a ton of garlic with amazing flavor, and they're not too salty. Only $10 for a very generous portion. 10/10. We also got the country fried steak--pretty standard, but it comes with pancakes, which I think are some of the best in town. They're not too soft like Denny's or IHOP--perfectly balanced between firm and fluffy. The portions are great, and at just $20, it's basically two meals for me. 10/10. We tried the Florentine omelet--again, pretty standard since breakfast food is hard to mess up. It also comes with pancakes, but we opted for waffles instead for an extra $2. Not worth it--the waffles were too firm. I'd recommend sticking with the pancakes since they're included at no extra cost. $19. 8/10. The service is always great, and the ambiance is nice with plenty of seating. All in all, if you're looking for a consistently good breakfast spot with big portions and affordable prices, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Since we discovered Mission city Grill 2 months ago, we have been here 3 times!!! Anytime we are in the mood for good old American food staples, we think of Mission City. Love the fact that there is no crowd or queue to get in for an impromptu dinner... We also love to have a large breakfast for dinner and their breakfast is served all day which makes it another plus. The staff is super friendly, helpful and efficient. Some of our favorites so far are their chicken fired steak and eggs, burgers, fried chicken with waffles and on the most recent visit blackened salmon salad!! The side of the garlic fries are super yummy and a must try as well. Food portions are generous but not super massive, the quality is good and service is fast and efficient. Will be back again soon!!

Final Thoughts: 4.20/5.0…read more Contrary to many other opinions, I personally really like brunch. It really is more for the vibes and spending time with my friends and family versus the food sometimes. For some reason, this place has always been on my list of to-go brunch places, but I've just never had the chance to go here. After our matcha run, my friend and I decided to go here for brunch. It was around a 45 minute wait today. On their Yelp, appears to be quite the quaint place to to get food and relax. Will definitely be a 4 star for me. Food: Jumbo Crab Bene with seasonal fruit: 4.0/5 This is their fresh lump crab with sliced avocado, whole grain mustard and poached eggs stacked on lightly toasted English muffins, topped with scratch made Hollandaise sauce and garnished with locally sourced microgreens. This is served with either house potatoes or seasonal fruits. The lump crab is actually fresh crab I believe. There are some pieces of the shell that were still in there. I'm honestly not even mad because that's a pretty big indicator that it's the fresh crab meat picked out. The egg is nicely poached with a runny yolk. Hollandaise sauce is quite nice and light. The Dijon mustard was quite strong for me and did overwhelm some of the other flavors on the plate. It does add a nice flavor, but occasionally, it was too much. For the English muffin, it was quite thick, so it felt kind of dry. It's noted to be slightly toasted, but its somewhat hard to tell with the mustard, crab meat, and poached egg on top, which are mainly wet items. Avocado is perfectly ripe. I'm not an avocado person, but this one did it just right for me. The fruits came with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, apples, cantaloupe, and honeydew. Very refreshing and needed after the savory foods. Philly Steak Sandwich with garlic fries: 4.0/5 This sandwich has grilled steak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms topped with provolone cheese on a toasted baguette with mayo and a light teriyaki drizzle. Will come with either a side of house salad or garlic fries. I really liked how they caramelized the onions and peppers inside of this. There's that additional sweetness from it that works well with the steak and cheese. Very tender meat. The bread also seemed kind of big and just almost dry too. Not too big of a concern given the amount of filling that they give. My friend choose the garlic fries and those were amazing. The cut is just right and the crisp on the outside is just so good. You can taste the garlic, but I could do with even more garlic to it. --------- Quality: Fresh Something I really like is that they use real crab in their jumbo crab bene. You can actually feel the tiny pieces of the shell in it, which usually means its fresh. The food did take a second to come out, but both were piping hot. My friends onions and veggies were quite caramelized, which is nice. Brings out a lot of the flavor component in the sandwich. The fries were actually so good too. I wanted the side of garli fries, but it was convenient that his came with it. Super crispy, nice size, flavor is good. May need a little more fresh garlic, but overall, really good. Price: Reasonable Prices seem reasonable for what they give. Initially, it does lean more on the expensive side, but their portion sizes are larger than your average brunch place. Prices will range from between $18 to $24, with a few outliers. Service: Very sweet workers Very nice service here. Everyone was sweet, greeted us, and checked on us. Our food did take a little longer than some others around us. For us, it was around a 25-30 minute wait after ordering our food. Even the table next to us that were seated after got their food first. The food did come out fresh, so I'm not really complaining. They did let us know and give us little updates about our wait and food though. Ambiance: Classic Brunch Spot The space is nice and looks slightly cramped inside. It was just my friend and I and they gave us a seat right in the corner next to the window. Honestly, probably the best spot for me and the person who seated us also noted that it was his favorite spot in the house. I didn't see much beyond from what was seen by the door. The space looks fairly small, but fit a decent amount of tables with walking space in between still. Always love the open kitchen. It's fun to watch what happens behind the scenes. Location/Parking: Large space It's located right on Saratoga Avenue. There is a Lucky grocery store here, so there is a lot of parking around. We really didn't have any concerns finding a space at all.

Even with a baby in tow, the staff was super friendly and accommodating, bringing hot water super quickly for warming a bottle and carefully selecting seating that accommodated our stroller. The menu is relatively small, but also very diverse with a variety of protein options and some vegetarian selections. Since it's served tapas/family style, you get to try a ton of the menu. Everything we had was delicious and very balanced. Even with a super low spice tolerance, the heat in all the dishes was not just tolerable, but even delicious. I think the dish I'd most recommend is the pork shank. Everything about it was super surprising and incredibly delicious. It literally fell off the bone and had a ton of texture with a melty, tender inside and a sticky, crunchy exterior. I would eat just this for a whole meal! Despite my own dislike for goat, even the goat empanadas were good and managed to convince me I don't actually hate all goat meat! Much like the menu, the ambiance is perfectly balanced, perfect for a romantic date night, a business meeting and even for a friend/family dinner. I'd highly recommend Valley Goat for anyone, for any occasion.

His group absolutely loved the goat empanadas, the disco fries, and the pork shank. My sister and BIL were in town again in mid-July so I made a reservation on OpenTable (easy with one week in advance). We were seated at one of the booths and service was... a little odd. We never got a "Welcome to Valley Goat, have you been here before?" or any explanation about the menu. We sort of knew what to order because of my BIL but it was notably weird. Service that day was impersonal and the main reason why I've downgraded one star. BIL said that he had better service with the bachelor party in March - the server back then had thoroughly explained the menu and was great about everything until things got a bit busier later and they had to wait a long time for the check. However, despite the weird service, the food was so good that I brought some of my local friends the following weekend - and this time, we did not make a reservation and decided to walk in and sit at the bar. Big shout out to Jonathan, Roy, Erica and Nick who took good care of us at the bar! At one point in our meal, they noticed we were waiting for our last two dishes for a while and I overheard them talking about going to check on those plates, and sure enough they appeared shortly after. We never waited long after drinks were finished before they checked in if we wanted anything else. Food: Disco fries ($25) were fire - loved the combination of savory / creamy / pickled items. Would definitely order again. Sticky pork shank ($59) - the number one reason I wanted to bring my friends here because I knew they would be as impressed as I was. With the $59 price tag, it's a little hefty but absolutely worth it. Meat slides right off the bones, sauces are fantastic, pickled cucumber salad and pluot salad add a nice counterbalance to the meat... the only thing I would like more of is the lettuce pieces so I can make my own lettuce wraps! Chickpea fritters ($21) - one of my faves other than the pork shank. Loved the crisp textures and flavors. Goat empanadas ($20) - delicious and one of my BIL's favorite dishes. That limey huacatay sauce appears on several menu items and stands out each time - can't go wrong with it! Less impressive: sautéed green beans ($20) were not worth the money and were too salty, and the kalbi ($45) was fine and didn't stand out like the other dishes. Sort of a run-of-the-mill kalbi. Drinks: drinks were definitely on the pricier side but all very tasty! I was actually most impressed by one of their mocktails - the Temple Fizz ($16). Mocktails are weird in that some bars will increase the price to an unreasonable amount, but I think it's genuinely deserved here. The Temple Fizz had complex notes that had me sipping like I would any other cocktail, rather than guzzling it down like a soda. Jonathan mentioned that their mocktails are super popular as well, and I think that speaks strongly to their mocktail selection. Overall, I would keep coming back and sitting at the bar. Food and drinks are fantastic!

I thought some dishes were great; the wagyu burger was decadent. Other dishes were not that special. The scallops didn't taste too fresh (likely frozen) and combining them with hummus didn't quite work. The side of bread was practically insulting. $5 for stale table bread was a surprise. Dishes arrived very late; we were nearly forgotten when we tried to order, and then after ordering, we waited 40 minutes between appetizers and the main course. Not because they were cooking it; they just forgot we were there and when they brought out the dishes, the scallops were no longer just-cooked, and the burger had been sitting for a bit. No apology, just an acknowledgment it was late, and no discount (not even on the stale bread). They offered us wine, we said we didn't drink, and they just moved on. I debated a lot about how to review this. It's my personal experience that was disappointing, and I'm glad some reviews are very upbeat. My only complaint was the steak. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out medium well, a bit dry and was tougher than expected, making it difficult to cut. It was still tasty--just not cooked quite the way I was hoping. The mimosas were good too, a great value. Nothing that really stood out as amazing, but definitely nothing bad about them either--they got the job done. What really elevated the experience was the service. Our server Rebecca was attentive, knowledgeable, kind, and incredibly quick throughout the meal. They checked in at the right times, answered our questions confidently, and made us feel well taken care of without ever being overbearing. Overall, I'd come back, especially to sit on the patio again. With a more tender steak, this meal would've easily been an 8.5 or 9 out of 10!! :)

There's plenty of seating indoors, outdoors, and at the bar. They also have good amount of TVs for watching games. Unfortunately I thought the service and food here were ok. To drink, I got the On the Wagon mocktail which is basically a variation of a Moscow Mule. I really did like this mocktail. It was so refreshing. For the table, we ordered herb fries and chicken tinga nachos. The herb fries were good. Nothing special. The nachos were not my favorite. The serving was a good amount but it wasn't too flavorful.

I ordered the chicken plate, and the chicken was incredibly dry, tough, and completely lacking in flavor. It was honestly difficult to eat. After just a few bites, I ended up throwing the entire plate away. Paying $24 for food of this quality is simply unacceptable. My friends ordered the burgers, and they were just as disappointed. None of us enjoyed our meals, which made the experience even more frustrating. I'm writing this review in the hope that the owner sees it and shares it with the management team. The kitchen really needs stronger quality control before dishes are served to customers. Good service alone can't make up for poor food. If the food quality doesn't improve, I think it will be difficult to earn repeat customers after their first visit. I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously because the staff deserve food that matches the level of service they provide.

Went here on a Saturday night with a girlfriend and we ordered: Steak Fries, Bucatini Pasta, Clams, Tomato & Cheese Dip (AMAZING! ) In fact, every single dish was completely on point. The vibe inside is super fun--there's a tiny bar lit up by a spinning disco ball. However, the ordering process is pretty disconnected and chaotic. You normally have to order food and drinks at the bar, but because the entire interior was so packed with people waiting for tables and pre-dinner drinks, the host kindly offered to help us at our table. The catch? She could only take our food order and not the drinks. It's definitely a bit disorderly, but the incredible food almost makes up for the logistical mess!

The bar was pretty busy with groups at all the tables so we had to sit outside on stools at a fold up table. You walk inside to place an order then you get seated at a table. The staff were really nice and gave great recommendations for our group who were beginner wine drinkers. Super cool vibe inside, they even have a disco ball and cute decor. My expectations were already low as I'm not usually into tapas style (aka small portion but expensive and possibly mediocre food) but boy was I wrong. All of the food that we ordered was genuinely so good. I still think about the BUCATINI (tom yum butter, lime, garlic and basil) and would solely come back for that dish. The portion sizes were on the smaller side but it is tapas, we had a group of 8 hungry people so that was on our part lol Overall, would recommend and come back to try some of their other dishes and wine! super cute for date night
