Wow, I have been to many St Louis/Panera's all over the country and my visit to this location today (3/23) was outstanding! Easy to order on the kiosk and my lunch (Autumn soup and tasty salad) was excellent and came out fast. What made this specific location GREAT was the (surprising and unexpected!) service. Went in store to pick up a DoorDash order I waited 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged that I was there employees kept on looking at me and walking past then when I took the order and was at the location to drop it off the employees did not but the lid of the soup container on correctly so when I went to pick up the bag, the container with soup in it spilt ripped a hole through the bag in the soup spilt all over my seat. The customer service was absolutely horrible. No one even acknowledged me. I advised no one to go here under any circumstances. read more

First of all, I want to say the service at this location is quick and efficient and appreciate the ability to order online through the app. The egg and cheese brioche sandwich was just the right portion for my appetite on this Saturday morning along with the iced coffee which I have to add my sweetener and half and half. The area that can improve is the layout of the cold beverage station. It gets cramped in that corner when there is more than three customers in that area, and it is also close to the trash cans which can cause gnats and other lil bugs flying nearby the cold beverage self serve drink station. I know the staff does their best with maintaining the place and my hope is as the unlimited sip club continues to be part of Panera's business model, hope for a different layout, maybe starting off with relocating the trash cans with the bins of used dishes away from the cold self serve beverage station. It's been awhile since I've eaten inside a Panera, or even eaten it at all and now I remember why. There was no one available to take a dine in order so we used the kiosk (along with 3 other groups). That's no problem really but somewhat frustrating with my elderly father in law. We ordered green tea and paid for it but it was out at the drink station. I alerted an employee but it was never refilled while we ate there. Nor did an employee offer to fill up out cups with their drink station in the back. The cinnamon roll was hard as a rock. The chicken bacon rancher sandwich was fine but not worth $12. The most frustrating thing was the mound of dirty dishes. I also noticed behind the counter trash cans over flowing. The main employee on the food line was very nice but understandably overwhelmed. Meanwhile 2 other employees I noticed and crossed paths with were ignoring customers or actively not going out of their way to help the gentleman working so hard. I have been coming to Panera locations for more years than I can count. I usually order the pick two with the caesar salad and one of my favorite sandwiches. Never have I been this stiffed, either with takeout or delivery. This salad is about three bites, with croutons being out of stock, and they charged me $5. It doesn't even fill half of the container! The fact that they were out of stock of almost everything by 4, including items that were listed as available and I later had to replace on the phone, just adds to it. I want to say a personal thank you so much to Sarah for helping me today at this location. I had a delivery order from this store over the app, and the driver NEVER delivered my food! Horrible. The delivery drivers go thru Doordash now which is a BAD situation. I know Panera used to have their own drivers. Now its a headache when they don't actually deliver the food for whatever reason. But I called the store for help and Sarah helped me and was so nice! She did everything possible to make the situation right for me. I got a refund and obviously taken care of everything. Cleanliness. Not at this location in 2021. The number of tables you can sit at is quite limited. They are random. It's not every other table. Some entire rows are blocked, and other rows can be used. So diners may be seated close to one another as opposed to six feet or more away from other diners. And this is one of those Panera locations where one person parks in a booth with their laptop and stays for hours. The tables are not cleaned, it looks like they haven't been wiped down all day. Came here specifically for a bread bowl soup Saturday at 6.30pm. They were out of bread bowls. What? You literally have a bakery in the store and you can't make more for the dinner crowd? Ever since DoorDash has taken over for delivery service has been terrible! I have noticed if the tip is less than $5 the order seems to take twice as long for delivery. I was told by a DoorDash delivery driver that they can pick which delivery's they want and can see ahead of time the tip on the order. It also seems the orders are missing extra items as well. I realize that every Bread Co. is fairly similar and that these days, they seem to be on every corner of every major intersection and are slowly taking over strip malls one at a time, however... I do enjoy this location quite a bit more than other locations. Yes, it offers the same menu as all other locations and has the same daily soup specials, and of course, the delicious vegetarian black bean soup. However, this place has one of the best outdoor dining areas of any Bread Co. in the city. There are a ton of tables, it is far enough off Clarkson that you don't really hear the traffic cruising by, and it's never that crowded, even on beautiful days. If this place was a bar and they had those amazing outdoor heating lamps, the patio would always be packed, I have no doubt. The wireless works great both inside and outside at this location as well. This Bread Company is in a convenient enough location, but it seems like the service can be hit or miss--it is probably more skewed to the 'casual' side of fast casual, as the lines can be long and orders take longer than expected to come out, even when there are ostensibly few patrons in the restaurant. On one occasion, the breakfast menus had not been turned to the lunch side, giving me false hope for a breakfast sandwich (cue the McDonald's scene with Michael Douglas in the movie Falling Down). I will say that the consistency here is a plus, and the cashier did honor my Panera card "perk" of a free bagel during the month of December. I use Panera as a go-to for home meals, but I think I'm going to stop for awhile. Today I received the worst dead food I've seen in a long time. The lettuce was old and wilted. There was no romaine. The Covid Virus and the STL County dine-in "lock down" makes it impossible for restaurant operators to manage food supplies and spoilage, paper, utilities, and labor. I get it, they're not selling 1/4 of the volume of lettuce they're used to selling. But, I got the bottom of the walk-in today. On top of all this chaos, they're launching pizzas all at the same time. It's just tough to get good, wholesome take-out during a pandemic and support local restaurants when they can't gauge their needs. This is a St. Louis Bread Co., like I've never seen. It's not straight. There are all sorts of turns and wiggles, nooks and crannies, corners and "quiet" areas for private meetings or working on your computer. This was my first visit to this facility, so I had to ask where to order. Well, duh, next register. I'm always at the wrong register. I got a large coffee. My register person didn't ask if I had a Panera card, but the register person next over DID ask her patron, so I chimed up with my card, and got $1 off my purchase. What a nice surprise . . . no thanks to my register person. You just get whatever coffee you want. All coffees have the time they were replenished so you can see how fresh the coffees are. I got decaf and topped it off with a little hazelnut. It was good coffee. Incredibly hot. I was meeting someone I did not know at 10:30 a.m., so I snagged a table facing the order area. And read my book. He arrived at 11:30 a.m. and by that time, I'd had three cups of coffee, read about 120 pages of my book, and the continual little splash of hazelnut was doing its job. We did our business in about 45 minutes. And I got a lot of coffee for just upwards of $2. I cannot fault St. Louis Bread Company for my hour-late appointment. But I can take off a star for my register clerk not asking if I have a Panera card. Just 'cause it's my first time at this store doesn't mean I don't have a card. Now that I think of it, I've been to other stores where they didn't ask if I had a card, and I didn't remember to brandish it. So, I may have lost out on buying a store. I generally love Panera/St. Louis Bread Co and have my usual go-to items. Popped in on a Sunday morning and, like usual, there was a line. Nothing to stress over, and one of the employees came over and offered for credit card customers to use their new kiosk ordering system. Cool beans, no more line! However, I'm a fairly educated person in graduate school and had a hard time figuring the kiosk self-ordering application out. I finally got a breakfast sandwich ordered and then took even longer to try to add a cup of coffee and ended up just giving up and going to the regular cashier after ordering the sandwich from the kiosk. No one was in the lobby by that point - that's how long I was at the kiosk. It was a good idea, but man, poor execution. So, panera as a whole, I still love, but this location dropped a few stars because ordering was such a bear. read more

I purchased a gift card and the person I gave it to brought it back saying there are no funds on the card... Long story short, the manager was absolutely no help!
