Mushroom and bacon toast, egg on the side, and ham, mushroom and spinach crêpe with Lyonnaise potatoes
    Patricia E.

We REALLY liked this breakfast place. First time we attempted to dine the line was out the door (weekend), so we picked a Friday morning and were able to get street parking and a spacious booth. Love the interior layout, and it is handicap accessible. Bar seating available. Lots of light. Seated immediately. Drink orders taken and brought - coffee, OJ and Diet Coke. Food was out in under 10 minutes. Husband's Mushroom Toast with Bacon was SO yummy, and they even put the egg on the side at our request. My ham, mushroom, spinach and Gruyere crepe was also divine. Added side of Lyonnaise potatoes which were the best breakfast potatoes I believe I have ever had. Service was a team effort, which I always appreciate. Friendly, quick check out and we were encouraged to return. Can't wait!

It was an interesting take on shrimp and grits. The shrimp were cooked in a creamy gravy and presented alongside the grits. Not my favorite but it wasn't bad. Our server was really interested and punctual. It's a cute little cozy space with hanging plants and natural decor. If I go back I just kind of hope I find a good option that will be a favorite. The hibiscus and pineapple mimosas are amazing!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today, so we sat outside and enjoyed a small breakfast on the patio. Honestly, I think this was a much better option as I feel like the inside was quite noisy due to the music and conversation that crowds you! We enjoyed the French toast, Classic breakfast and Abelskivers! The drinks were both amazing and my favorite item was probably the French toast! Not sure if I would recommend the Abelskivers because I felt like they weren't pretty dry without any drippings on them. Looking forward to going again though!

Hands down my favorite breakfast spot on the Westbank. Each time I visit Toast Gretna, I am greeted and seated immediately despite the crowd. The servers are always pleasant and attentive. Now the food, it is delicious. This time I ordered the fish and grits, those are the best grits in town. The eggs are perfection. I can go on and on just go to this cute and quaint spot and check for yourself.

This is catfish, eggs and grits with Tarragon Aioli on the side. Scrumptious!

The food was great. My first time visiting enjoyed my catfish, egg and cheese grits. It was delicious and a very nice portion so make sure you are hungry. The service friendly and courteous from the door to my waiter/ bartender. Chase, who made my suggestion after I asked for his input. Great job Chase. The ambiance is quaint and homie like a small cafe I would go weekly if I lived in the area. I would probably have given them 5stars. However I'm partial to places that don't offer military discount. I truly believe all veterans deserve a little thank you for through some kind of discount for their sacrifice to this country!

My cousin recommended this place for breakfast. I had chicken and waffles and my husband had the avocado toast. My chicken was cooked to perfection. Juicy and tender full of flavor and seasoned to perfection. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. The restaurant was welcoming and the music was nice to enjoy while having brunch. Next time I will try the fish and grits because I saw how good it looked and smelled as the plate passed our table. My latte was yummy also.

Y'all... I had this sandwich yesterday and I'm still thinking about it. Toast passed in every way. It was packed for Saturday brunch, but we only waited about 15 minutes. While we waited, there was plenty of space to hang out at the backyard bar and sip tasty coffee (or a morning cocktail if that's your vibe). Lots of seating, quick service, large kids menu, delicious specials. But this sandwich, y'all -- hands down the best fried chicken I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection, with a crunch on the outside and melting in my mouth on the inside. I don't remember the sauce, but it was on fresh brioche with bacon and some veggies. Had a side of your choice (I already finished before taking a pic .) My latte was excellent. The service was so sweet -- shoutout to Ionna for taking care of us and recommending the special. I wasn't even that hungry...but took one bite and devoured the whole thing. I couldn't get a pic of my neice's ratatouille omelette before she tore in, as well as my sisters food which was gone before you know it. Anywayzzz, we'll definitely be back. There's so much space out back, with a play set for kids. I honestly think I'm having my birthday brunch there when it cools off in the fall. Inside, it's a fun mix of southern murals and modern decor, but they kept the old-school southern restaurant feel with the bar and layout. Loved everything about it!

This place is really a hidden gem I knew nothing about!!!! The outside does nothing for what you will walk into. Friendly face and the warmest welcome very attentive waitress food was amazing I'd definitely recommend this place over and over again. There's also a area outside for kids to play and be comfortable

I visited Toast a few months ago to meet up with a friend. We arrived maybe an hour before closing, so things were winding down. I ordered the catfish and grits while my friend had the French toast. Our food came out quickly and was pretty tasty. However, the silverware on the table wasn't clean and my plate was also a little dingy looking. This raised some concerns about the overall cleanliness of the restaurant.

Thanks for making my dad birthday breakfast special. We were seated quickly. Food came out in a timely manner. My crawfish toast and mimosas were excellent. We frequent this location, due to the consistency in service and food. It's always loud inside due to the size of the building.

My Husband and I ate Breakfast here. The Hostess was very inviting. Our Server Alyanna was great. The food was succulent. The ambiance was nice .

This was our 3rd visit before actually being seated. The first two visits had wait times over an hour each visit so we went elsewhere locally. On this visit, we were seated instantly at the bar due to limited seating available in the dining room. The bar service was great, quick, and easy! I ordered the chicken and waffles which was made to order and provided that perfect balance of salt and sweet. The cayenne butter added a nice touch. Coffee was refilled without asking. I would recommend getting reservations even for two if you want to dine in. Once seated, you will enjoy a good meal. Dine local! Enjoy.

The food here is great every single time. Even though it's served from hot tables, everything is super fresh because they are busting out plates left and right. The line moves really quickly and everyone working there is very nice. I've tried something different every visit. From the variations of the Baby Back to the Biscuit Boat and the Back in Town Burrito, it's all been delicious. Also, the potatoes are so good! I usually take pictures of my food, but for some reason, I can never get a shot here because I eat it way too quick. This is definitely a top-tier spot in Gretna!

So far we have tried the Berry Sausage Frenchie, the Biscuit Boat w/ Catfish, Biscuit Boat w/ Chicken Tenders, French Toast meal w/ eggs, 2 strips of bacon, and 2 chicken tenders. Berry Sausage Frenchie - 6/10 I wasn't as impressed with the Berry Sausage Frenchie as I was hoping for. It was still good, but the flavors just kind of blended together to one, so wasn't bad just wasn't great. Filling though, it is huge. Can only eat half for a breakfast (if that). Biscuit Boat w/ Catfish - 8/10 Biscuit Boat w/Tenders - 7/10 My boyfriend has gotten the biscuit boat both times once with catfish and once with tenders, he says he prefers it with catfish as the sauce is complimented best with the catfish. However, he says he wouldn't get it a third time, it tastes delicious, just too rich for an early breakfast. Maybe better eaten closer to lunch time. Grits - 10/10 As expected, best grits I've had from a restaurant. Perfectly seasoned. French Toast w/ eggs, 2 strips of bacon, and 2 chicken tenders - 9/10 This was my favorite! Chicken tender, bacon, egg, and grits all in one bite was truly mind blowing, an explosion of flavors in one bite. The chicken tenders are so good with it. And as expected eggs were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Bacon may have been overcooked, was crispy just a little tough, but not really a big deal. Bacon is bacon! French toast tasted also amazing paired with a bite of a tender, such good flavors. French toast alone - 6/10 The french toast itself is cooked just fine, but I'm not a fan of the bread they use for it, like a canes toast with sesame seeds. I just don't prefer it, but it's still just fine! Didn't find it was too flavorful is all. But maybe that's just me. It certainly looks delightful!

The hashbrowns were very crispy and seasoned well, so I loved them, as soggy hashbrowns are a major pet peeve of mine. The chicken biscuit was good, but I'm not 100% sure it was to my taste. It was massive and very hard to eat, and there was a lot of fried chicken skin. The mayo on the sandwich was definitely homemade and had a very strong egg flavor, so I would go without that next time. The biscuit was probably the best biscuit I've ever had. As a California girl, I think the flavors might have just been a little too strong for me, but still a great spot to stop by.

Like where have I been?! We are forever grateful for that alone. As someone who already loves Vietnamese culture through food here in New Orleans, this place just hits. Vietnamese coffee is a staple for me--not even for energy, but for the flavor. If you know, you know... that bold, strong, chicory-meets-condensed-milk moment. It's rich, it's cultural, it's intentional. And when you start adding things like pandan cold foam? Simple, but it speaks volumes about the influence and beauty of the Vietnamese community here. I respect it, deeply. Now let's talk about that Croffle... a croissant-waffle situation. I went with the Chantilly and berries because... you already know, I'm gonna choose what feels like home every time. The cream was smooth, the fruit was fresh, everything worked. My only thing--personally--it was a little heavy on the almonds for me. Still good, just my preference. We also had The American--eggs, bacon, French ham, hand-cut fries, garlic aioli, and a baguette. I shared it with my son and made my own little sandwich moment with it. Used the aioli as a base, layered the eggs, bacon, and ham... and I feel like that's exactly what it was meant for. Solid, simple, and filling. I've tried a few other things too like the bánh mì and donuts. The bánh mì was good, donuts were okay... not my go-to for that. But that frozen cocktail? Listen... it was TOO good. Took it to a festival with me and between that drink and that sun, I slept the whole festival away lol. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I still want to try more from the kitchen--especially that chicken everybody keeps talking about. This is a great spot for early weekend brunch, late evening studying, or weekday coffee runs. Not too small, not too big. Beautiful lighting. A really good addition to Gretna.

We checked into our nearby hotel a bit early in the day and was looking to hit the streets for a spot to get a chill/light breakfast, a coffee and maybe a cocktail. We found all the things at Luzianne Cafe. Whether you belly up to the bar or grab a table, both of which are first come first serve, you start at the counter where you order, pay and grab your table number. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside.
