Visited Dots on a recent trip to Louisiana. The diner reminds me of a few that we have back here in Colorado where I'm from. While certainly not health food, it's ok to treat oneself to diner cuisine every now and then right?! Dots hosted 20+ folks in our party on this visit and all things considered the staff were friendly and on point, keeping orders straight and food out promptly. I had a burger and it was juicy and flavorful. An all around classic choice. The ambiance of the restaurant is fun 50s diner. It was a nice spot, our waitress was not really engaged with us like what im use too but it could of been just Monday morning and we know how Mondays are, but the french toast was pretty darn good!! Didn't quite do it for me. The food was cold and looked like it had been sitting in the kitchen waiting for it to be placed on a plate. We went off the previous reviews, but feel those didn't live up to what they said. There are too many excellent restaurants in New Orleans to settle for below par food. How much do I like Dot's Diner? When I visit New Orleans, I'm often a guest of Harrah's Casino, who provide me with transportation between their property and the airport in Kenner. More than once, on my way out of town, I've paid my driver a substantial tip to stop at Dot's on Williams Blvd. before we reached MSY, so I could enjoy an unplanned one-more-last-good-meal. Eggs, pancakes, breakfast meats and good coffee are obvious choices, but Dot's does more: their kitchen, which I suspect it haunted by someone's cher tante, turns out home-style Southeastern Louisiana fare that stands with the best such dishes served in da Parish. Is Dot's in Kenner convenient? Not unless you're already in the area. Is it fast? Depends on the day, and time of day. But Dot's food is very good, and it's inexpensive, even when you add in the monster tip required to convince your driver to abandon his schedule. There's value in those things. read more

I ordered strawberry pancakes with whipped cream, cheese grits, eggs, hasbrown, and a sweet tea. The pancakes were terrible, dry, and tasteless. The grits didn't have cheese on them, although, I had paid for them. The eggs were okay and nothing to brag about. The hasbrown werr mid at the most. We were honeymooning in New Orleans and staying in Kenner, needed a place to have breakfast and Dots popped up with really good reviews. Really good, well deserved reviews. It's a small "hole in the wall" and you can tell that this restaurant is a local favorite. The food was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the Dot Burger which was good and the fries were definitely fresh and homemade. My wife had the club sandwich which I've never had before and was so good. The service was very friendly. We are traveling from Mississippi and wanted a good home cooked breakfast before heading back home and we found Dots Dinner.Man did we have a bad experience. For one our waitress didn't once come to the table after giving us are good to ask for refills with all of our cups empty. Secondly the biscuits are from Walmart and just in a ziplock bag on top of the microwave, the hash browns are instant hash browns also from Walmart, and the bacon is just in a big bucket they just reheat it. 1 out of 10 experiences here will not eat here again for sure. read more

We drove all the way down from Baton Rouge to go to another place, turns out they started closing at 4 on Mondays. A search led us to Dot's!! We really lucked up!! Dot's is friendly, the food is very very good!! The place is clean and bright, stools at the counter, booths with plexiglass between and some tables scattered around. Breakfast is served all day, so are diners. The grill is well seasoned too. We both had hamburger steaks, mashed potatoes and green beans. The potatoes have some garlic in them, the gravy is smooth. A salad came with the dinner and garlic bread. I loved every bite!! Out server is the manager and she was super friendly! The cook was friendly and quick getting the food out, lots of experience! First time here and I decided to bring my father-in-law for breakfast. This diner is practicing social distancing by blocking every other booth and table. Masks are required prior to entry and staff are also donning their face coverings. Well, some of them. In terms of the food and service. Service was excellent and our food was prepared and delivered to us super fast. As for the taste, well ya know, it's a diner and the food was uh, ya know, meh. I ordered the Biggest Omelet Yet, (the actual name), and it was delicious but the cheese could've been less and/or melted more. All of the meat and veggies were diced nicely and portioned well so that was a plus. Paw paw wasn't a big fan of his breakfast but he ate just about everything. I think he was disappointed that he didn't get lunch because he admired the way the spaghetti and meatballs looked on another patron's plate lol. Breakfast is mostly good and plentiful. The BLT is excellent if the bacon is crispy! The BLT is always extra stuffed too. Best BLT in town in my opinion. Service is great, but taking orders has really slowed at table side due to the introduction of a computerized ordering pad rather than a handwritten order pad. The place is noisy, it's small, crowded and the cooking is right there. I don't go for the ambiance, just the food. read more
