What a beautiful cozy and comfortable bar/restaurant and venue all in one. Our friend invited us for there for her birthday dinner. We started at the bar upstairs. What a beautiful atmosphere! It's intimate, warm and romantic. Live music is great! The drinks were tasty and creative. There were 8 of us for dinner. We were seated downstairs. That room is magical! It has wine shelves, another bar, wood and mirrors everywhere. The service was fast and great. For my dinner I had chicken, it was large, comforting and filling. My friends had vegetable lasagna and risotto. They all seemed to like their dishes. To sum it up, the upstairs and downstairs are amazing. The music is terrific! The food is ok. New favorite bar! Love the live jazz music, I felt like I walked into a scene of Midnight in Paris. The outdoor patio is also beautiful.

Disappointed. Just had a wedding at this place and it was completely disorganized. I walk in and no one greets me at the door. I'm wearing a tux. Obviously I'm not here for the jaz music. So me and my family walk to the back and start setting up for my kids wedding. Again no help, not a single person comes up to us and asks if this is the wedding party. Zero direction , zero assistance and the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. The "manager" is walking around and also never once comes up to us to ask if everything is ok or if there was something he could do. The only thing he did was ask if I was ready to pay the bill. As for the price spent it was so not worth it. The food was quite good so for a restaurant dinner I'd say go but a lot of the reviews did say that service wasn't the best and I'd have to agree with that. I'm sorry but if you're looking to book this place for a large party go elsewhere. Just not worth the aggravation or the money spent. read more

I've only done small plates for food but everything I've tried has been great! They have a super cute outdoor area in the back. It gets very busy though so I recommend making a reservation. My boyfriend and I went for the Sunday Jazz Brunch and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is so charming and romantic, like nothing has changed from the 1920's. We have been twice for Thursday night Jazz and it's been really lovely both times. They have had incredible talent both times and each group played about a 2 hour set. I recommend getting there a bit before the set starts and making a reservation. The menu is really conducive for sharing, they have a lot of Gluten Free options, which is amazing and it's a lot of small plates. I would not recommend putting your entire order in at the same time. Order as you go. The first time we went, we ordered everything at once thinking it would be spaced out and everything came at the same time. The tables are very small, cocktail size, which is beautiful for ambiance but challenging for 2-3 people to eat and drink around. Highly recommend for a lovely dinner and jazz night. This is our second time eating brunch at St. Mazie. Our first experience was awful, and the manager was kind enough to reach out to us and offer a discount on the next brunch because of our poor experience. However, the second time back was not good either. While the food is good, we don't understand why problems still happen. Three of us went on a Saturday morning around 12:30 and were literally the only table in there. However, the cooks still managed to get our order wrong. I ordered a BLT sandwich, but they sent it out without bacon. I asked for bacon, and it took another 15 minutes before a side of bacon could come. My friends eggs were so overcooked she couldn't eat them and had to send them back. The waiter was nice, but this place moves so slow we just don't understand. Would not go back for brunch again until they fix their kitchen problems. read more

So head to St. Mazie to experience this IRL (in real life). My all time favorite bar and meet up spot in Williamsburg. They have an incredible bar program and scheduled performers ranging from pianists to cello wizards and alto clarinetists..and let's not forget the dude playing spoons. AND, the food, just amazing. Jazz, drinks, & dinner all in one! Love this spot and will certainly come back again. The intimate vibe makes it a great date spot. Come early if you want to snag a table, otherwise bar seating is a great option where you can still hear the music and chit chat without being disrespectful. Food wise-their portions are quite big so it's easy to share. My favorite was the mushroom risotto and crostini. The charcuterie was nice but pretty large as well. The service- phenomenal. Our bar tender made excellent drinks (hot toddies) and even gave us a round on the house plus an appetizer after making a small mistake on our order. I love this place. Whenever there's a get-together or date, I have to force myself to explore other spots because St. Mazie's is always my first instinct. The ambiance is relaxed and fun, the interior (both upstairs and down) and patio are gorgeous, the service is friendly and timely (even when it's packed), the food and wine is great (and not overpriced), and whenever there's live music (which is most nights), it's lovely. I came for a Sunday jazz brunch with hubby and it was just one wrong thing after another. This place isn't for me. I did like the intimate feel and the band. I came for Sweet Megg and the Wayfarers, sweet megg was a no show. Hostess and waiter was a bit overwhelmed, even though it didn't look that busy to me. It took 30 mins to take my order, and 40 minutes later, wrong plate was delivered to me, they had to rush the correct one for me, another 10 minutes. Food was mediocre, like your home cooked breakfast would probably be more impressive. The mazie work plate was cold and my tostadas plate was better tasting but it did not impress. Haven't been to mazis in a while and I guess things have changed. 3pm walked in to a typical crowd. No sign on the door to indicate a private event. I should have taken the hint from all the scolding looks. Sat down, waited, waited. Decided to ask the busy bartender if there was a private event happening, there is and will end by 5pm. My wife and I got married in their back garden/patio. Vanessa and Evangelos were incredibly accommodating and had the space extra green with plants. They allowed us to stay a bit longer, as the space was so warm our guests didn't want to leave. The food was the "cake-topper", delicious and plentiful! Went here for a friend's birthday Saturday. It was a large group that sat in the downstairs dining room. Within an hour of sitting down, the room filled up. New York has been humid this summer and this room is not air conditioned well. It was uncomfortably hot where we were sitting. The waiters/servers had a strange system where they took orders, and then came to the table and asked who had what. I have never experienced this guessing game of service, it was weird. The drinks were fine. I ordered the risotto, and I was surprised when a giant bowl of rice was set down in front of me. I was disappointed, not only was it not made well, it was also not seasoned well. It was not the least bit creamy, although it was advertised on the on the menu to be "creamy portobello and parmesan." I had to add a bunch of salt and pepper to be able to eat a couple of bites. BF had the fettucine and said it was great, I left hungry. Towards the end of the meal, a leaky pipe over our table that had a towel wrapped around it started to drip into my hair, so that was nice. P.S. Please don't be cheap with the air conditioning, its just too hot this summer for that! read more

The moment you walk in you will hear a classy nice live jazz band playing which is seldom to find in NYC these days. Left door and go down, you will find a sexy little wine cav where you can enjoy a little intimate time with a date or a friend who you would want to chit-chat away over great choices of red, rosè to white. Go up and chill with the band, sit at the bar and enjoy a glass of drink and meet people. Give a little smile away and you're good. And if you're a smoker, oh boy! Need no weird bystanding outside, explore the little garden at the back. Food is excellent! Service is great, really nice people. You just have to wait a little, and can't blame, the place is conveniently packed. A must to see! And by the way, come early. What a gem this spot is. So glad my friend brought me here. I think this review is mostly for the ambiance as I only had the House red, pickles, and their cheese board. The vibe is great, the back patio was so lovely in the evening and we sat under a pergola over grown with grape vines. For food: The red was super normal. My friend wasnt blown away by the house white. The cheese plate was just manchego with some honey so pretty underwhelming. And the house pickles were kind of weak. I'd be curious to try some more items on their menu next time. read more

Our favorite place hands down in Williamsburg, always fun and friendly, and beautiful jazz swing music that fits perfectly with the ambience. It transports you to Paris in the 40's and you feel like you're in a dream but among the Williamsburg hipsters. Food is great too, we haven't had any dish that disappointed. Terrible service if you're coming with a group. Would not recommended more than party of 3. My friends and I made a reservation for 8 for a birthday and were not treated well. The servers were mean and deliberately put us at the worst table next to loud music from next door, despite a confirmed reservation made a month in advanced for the back garden area. The food was great but the service really ruined the experience for me and my friends. Not sure any of us will be returning. read more
