2 Mixed Crepes - Cheese and Apple
    Leemor Y.

We stopped by Restaurant Relax on a cold winter day for some brunch and it just hit the spot. Lets start with the food: - vegetarian polish plate (4.5/5): we got 3 different types of pierogis (spinach cheese, jalapenos cheese potato, and mushroom sauerkraut), and they didn't have the lentil pate but changed it for the mushroom croquette (which was very well made!). Came with a side of red cabbage salad which was great. - flounder filet with French fries, beets and carrot salads (4.5/5): while it was a fried fish, it still tasted fresh somehow. Solid portion! Salads were solid - particularly the carrots. - crepes with cheese and apple (4/5): very nice and again, great portion size. Our mistake was ordering the crepes with the rest of the food since it all came out at the same time, and it was more cooled down by the time we ate it. Suggest either ordering it later or letting them know to bring it out later. Vibe: it feels like you're in a cozy polish mountain ski hut. This place has been around since 97 but they def updated the restaurant since then. It had a very family-owned restaurant feel. Would love to come back and try some of their soups. If you're looking for a no-frills, cozy, good price-to-portion ratio spot, this is your spot. Music was also great.

Amazing homey soups and pierogi, we got the buckwheat & cheese option and it was much more morish than the meat filling. The salads are also amazing, and highly recommend getting the crepes with any filling!

Chlodnik (RED) - The Cold Buttermilk Soup That Makes Summer Special

My favorite polish restaurant in Greenpoint. Finally was able to try their cold borscht (summertime) and it was amazing just like everything else. You pay at the counter and it's very chill. Love it.

The food is amazing and the price point is on. While most people suggest Karczma for Polish food in Greenpoint, a Polish neighborhood, I often redirect them here for an unassuming but delicious experience. Get the cold cabbage salad or borscht for a light weekday lunch.

When the only language you hear is Polish, then you know you've encountered a local gem that must be protected at all costs! Move over, Karczma - Restaurant Relax is ten times better than you'll ever be; sorry, but this is the truth! I was really wanting to have some comfort food, and Polish food is a staple in this neighborhood. Taking my work mom, we dined in this afternoon for an unforgettable meal that really sent my taste buds for a joy ride! First off, you need to walk up to the counter to order. They have daily soup offerings, so don't have your heart set on any one kind of soup. I decided to go with chicken noodle soup ($5.25) since the mushroom soup wasn't available. We split an order of mushroom and sauerkraut pierogies($9.50), because I just can't say no. I opted for their chicken cutlet with sauteed mushrooms ($17.25), paired with potato dumplings on the side ($2 extra!) - get that mushroom gravy!- with beet and sauerkraut salads. Work mom got fried kielbasa with mashed potatoes ($13.25) - yum to the 100th degree! I haven't wholeheartedly enjoyed a lunch like this in LONG time. For a place that is woman owned and operated, you feel that motherly love. I need a hug today - and this place served it up with sour cream! Chicken cutlet was HUGE and fried to batter perfection - the kielbasa was flavorful and not fatty. The potato dumplings were gobbled up in one go, and the pierogies were stuffed perfectly. The chicken noodle soup had a nice yet not overpowering broth that warmed me to my bones. Perfect especially with all this rain we've been having! Perfect was just THE word to describe this lunch; I can't wait to eat through this menu! Oh, we happened to also get a free ice cream cone because we ordered plates - what's there not to like?! We were like two kids that hit the jackpot! Word is gonna spread real fast about this place in the office - a GEM!

We were so relaxed!! Spot on name. Wonderful staff and great ambiance. We were sated and didn't break the bank. Pierogis are a must try! Beautiful silverware.

Great spot for Polish food fans! Lots of traditional favorites especially pierogis at an awesome price! Soups, entrees, sides, and brews. The interior is basic but neat and clean with plenty of options for solo and small group dinging. The service is always prompt and friendly here.

Overall rating: 4.9 Cute, authentic, polish spot. I LOVE THEIR PIEROGIS. The service is a mom and pop shop and they are so cute. While this is in Greenpoint/ Williamsburg, it doesn't feel that way which I really like. Dare I say, it's better than the popular one in LES? YES. You order & pay, then they serve you which I really enjoy. It feels like a shop in Germany.

Super restauracja! A must try when in Greenpoint. The food is just like home cooked, we got the barszcz, schabowe, i ruskie pierogi. Everything was delicious. The service was incredible, the sweetest lady was working, so kind and accommodating. Wasn't too busy when we got there but quickly filled out. Excellent little restaurant for delicious polish dinner. Super cute inside.

I love the ambiance and the price point of this Polish diner. It's bright and warm, and they decorated really nicely for autumn. You order at the counter in the back and pick a seat at any of the tables. There's also a counter by the front window that lets you people watch. I thought the food was just ok, but I would come back because the portions are large and filling, and the price is reasonable. The meat on the chicken cutlet with sauteed mushrooms is tender, but the mushrooms were dry and unseasoned. I asked for a cup of mushroom gravy on the side and seasoned it with some salt and this helped. The french fries were standard, maybe frozen. The beet salad was good, I just thought the beets were shredded so thin they became mushy. The cucumber salad was also good, it just has a lot of excess liquid. I seasoned both with extra salt.

    Croquet and polish platter

An absolute treasure! A very authentic polish restaurant, serving real polish food. As an Eastern European myself, I truly enjoy "relax", and recommend everyone to visit them. They have a sweet lady working at the counter as well as a very hospitable ambiance!

    Hair inside pierogi

I used to love this place but they got my order wrong today and I even found a hair in my pierogi today. Lost my appetite and wasted my money

I saw a couple pointing and nodding, so I asked, is this place amazing? They said yes. We were sold. We were wanting a drink and conveniently, they had a bar. Polish beer and incredible Polish cabbage on the way to meet friends for dinner at another restaurant? Duh!! Im Jewish - not religious - but it's important because beef/rice is the norm in my world. Karczma makes a pork version which was so so good. Big fat pieces. Thick, perfectly wrapped cabbage. Juicy, flavorful filling. The sauce was bright with tomato flavor. The wagon wheel decor was a curveball, but the warm and comfy vibe in the restaurant is what mattered most. We loved it.

I got the schnitzel (breaded chicken cutlet) and it came with a side of coleslaw and mashed potatoes. You used to be able to pick two sides, but anyway... There was zero seasoning in the whole dish. The coleslaw tasty like nothing. It was full of mayo but tasted like nothing. The chicken was super dry and tasted like it had been fried yesterday and then heated in the microwave. The mashed potatoes had an annoying amount of chopped dill on top, but no salt. The biggest sadness came when I tasted the pickle soup. It is a shadow of its former self. It is light on pickles and full of under-cooked potato cubes. It was badder than bad. What is going on here? SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED CASH!

We were the only people in the restaurant the entire time, though there were a few delivery orders. The restaurant has a homey interior, with callouts to their historic presence in Bay Ridge. We ordered the chicken klopsiki ($15.65) and the Hungarian pancakes ($20). Each dish comes with a house salad, which consists of red cabbage, sauerkraut, cole slaw, beets, shredded carrots, and lettuce. The salad had nice flavors and tasted fresh! I really enjoyed the chicken klopsiki, which is a chicken meatball. The meatball was moist, and the sauce had a nice flavor, like chicken soup. The only downside was that the mashed potatoes had no flavor and tasted like powdered mashed potatoes. I liked the flavor of the Hungarian pancakes, but the ratio of pancake to filling was heavily skewed toward the pancake, which was just fried potato with minimal flavor. Therefore, I would pass on the pancakes and just get the goulash if I decided to return. Service was okay. When I asked the server for recommendations, she wasn't enthusiastic, but I was asking generally, and I could have been more specific. She left during our meal, and we had to call someone to give us the check. So after giving us the food, service was nonexistent. Overall, I liked some parts of the dishes, but nothing was so amazing that I would be itching to return again!

It was tasty! The bacon definitely adds a salty bite to mellow out the richness of the pierogi. I was worried the sheep cheese would be too pungent, but it wasn't. The filling I chose only comes as a full order of 9. If you are torn between a couple choices, I would do two half orders of 5. On the side I got their Fresh Cut Fries. These were excellent. I love a fry, and these checked every box for me. They were well salted though. If you have any aversion to salt, I would ask for light salt. Price-wise, it's very fair! And you can taste to quality and heart they put into these Pierogis. Can't go wrong with any flavor. I got the lamb and it was stuffed with tender lamb pieces, no filler. And they make for great quick meals! I also snagged a box of cabbage rolls stuffed with a pork and rice filling. Simple home-y flavor and better than rolls I've gotten from restaurants. Just reheat and it's ready to go! $15 for 5 large cabbage rolls was a great deal as well! Would get again. The only thing I wouldn't get again is their soup dumplings, as it was a bit difficult to cook and was a little too doughy near the top of the dumpling.
