The emergency vet said it would be a 5-6 hour wait just to get Chewy back to see a vet. I called Dr. Hedges, and at 10 pm that night he met me at his clinic, at treated Chewy with fluids, pain medication, and antibiotics. He had so much compassion, I was and am so grateful. I'm happy to report Chewy is fine now. I'm pretty sure Dr Hedges saved my dog's life that night. All the support staff at Brighton are just as exceptional as Dr Hedges. I knew something was wrong. He was starting to hide from us. Our other cat would just leave him alone and not try to snuggle or play. Dr Nate looked at him and could tell there was something more wrong. Doing a bunch of tests wouldn't prevent what needed to happen. I told him I needed time to think. Called him the next morning and that afternoon I was in his office saying goodbye to my best friend. That was a year ago this July. We got a kitten a year ago Aug. This June he ate a string and it got stuck. I was in Shakopee visiting my parents. All the vets around there want 300-500 bucks to just look at him. I called Dr Nate and he told me to bring him in but try to be there by 230. I was there at 2:29. He was able to just pull the string out and 50 bucks later we were on our way. Dr Nate is about 45ish min from us and is 100% worth the drive. I wouldn't trust my babies with anyone else.

We took all three of our dogs the Cokato clinic and liked it all.....Until we needed to get in to see the vet with an emergency and was turned away! Our 4 year-old Giant Schnauzer started acting a bit slow on a Thursday evening in October 2022. We kept close watch on him and he didn't eat his food on Friday morning. He seemed out of sorts, but drank water and bodily waste was normal. Shortly after noon, the Giant Schnauzer vomited blood, along with lots of bloody gel-like substance. I immediately called (what was) our vet clinic, Associated Veterinary Clinic, and explained the situation and asked to bring the dog in. I was told that they could not see my dog because they were booked solid for the rest of the day and I would have to go to an Emergency Vet Clinic. The nearest ER Clinic available was in Anoka. We drove from Dassel to Anoka, waited 3+ hours with our sick dog, finally saw a just-graduated Vet, got a full set of X-rays and blood work, got shots with antibiotics, some pills and FortiFlora, and left after paying $1100. My beautiful Giant Schnauzer died on Sunday. We've been grieving for over 3 months. We're pissed that we were turned away by our local vet in our time of need. The woman that answered the call at Associated Vet Clinic on that Friday would not budge an inch - - - it was almost like she was NOT going to stay any longer on a Friday because she had plans for Friday night! My dog was really sick. My dog really needed help fast. My dog is gone.

Not that I regularly accost pet owners with questions about their pet care or anything--but when it comes up it's always surprising. It seems as though a lot of dog breeders go out of their way to take their pets to CPC. It has a good reputation that way. I grew up just a few miles from CPC, and I have many, many memories of taking various dogs and cats there for vet care as a kid. The staff was always friendly and caring--the vets were incredibly kind and knowledgeable (and were not above gently explaining things to a kid; i.e. when my dog had tumors and we had to make the decision to put him to sleep; or when my cat was shot and we had to do at-home wound care). When I moved out on my own and embarked on independent pet ownership, I still made the drive back to CPC. Not only because their care is top-notch, but also because they are--surprisingly--significantly cheaper than any vet in the cities. I haven't had to have a pet spayed/neutered in a while, but at the time the costs were somewhere around $20-25 for a male cat neuter versus $100+ for other vets around the cities. I hear now that they can have wait lists and there are rumors (that I cannot confirm) of them restricting their client base to the immediate location and existing/grandfathered in clients--but they're still worth a call. They've remodeled since I was a young 'un, and they have quite a bit in terms of food, supplies, etc. now as well.

You get an email a week or so prior giving all in depth instruction including arrival time, what to bring, Covid protocols (which were great!) and cost. Just an FYI you must pay in cash. Pain meds were prescribed and they also offer certain vaccines and microchips at an extremely affordable cost as well. The checkin process can take up to an hour depending where you're at in line since they only let one person in at a time. But they do give you a pager so you can stay in your car. It took us about 30 minutes. They call you about an hour or so prior to pickup and you need to pickup your animal around the pickup time. Staff was friendly and took the time to explain everything. Only issue was our dog was covered in his own urine after and we can't bathe him for a week, would be helpful to let them potty but we understand it's a hectic day!

Our poor pup had horrible skin flaking but no itching. After some blood work, a skin scraping and some medicated baths, nothing seemed to help. We became desperate. Most dermatology places I called were booked out for at least a few weeks. The pet dermatology clinic was thankfully able to get us in that same day due to a last minute cancellation. They are usually booked out at least a week as well. Dr Eisenschenk was so wonderful, sweet and kind. She could tell what was happening with our baby from a quick physical exam. Obviously we did a skin biopsy just to confirm. It just feels so great to be welcomed and get some answers. Prices were very fair and care exceeded all expectations!!
