California on sourdough (but didn't taste like sourdough at all. Seemed like white bread. Do not recommend)
    Heather W.

Stopped by for some lunch sandwiches driving a drive up to the mountains. Places start to get limited! This area is so convenient right off the road, and yelp told me it was a solid spot. Very cute local grocery store with prepared deli options. So, this was a case of ordering wrong in terms of "now I know." If there is every a time I'm in the area again (doubtful), I think our selections could be made better with some tweaks: THE BLTA on baguette - GET UNTOASTED. I had no idea it was going to be toasted to hell. It was that so toasted it was kind of painful to bite into - ya know? I was so looking forward to that great chewy baguette taste. I know BLTs are traditionally toasted, I dont get enough of them. At the very least, ask for LIGHTLY toasted. California - my mistake to say to put dijon mustard on it. Glops of mustard on BOTH SIDES. I think this is true of most places making your sandwiches. I'd get condiments on the side. It felt like if you doused something with salt to make it inedible. Even trying to wipe it off with a napkin couldnt help. Cookie was delicious but what's with the upsell on getting a snickerdoodle, etc? It just wasnt a very satisfying meal and made me feel to blame. Learn from my mistakes!

Stopped by this small, but very accommodating market on the way to the Rocky Mountain National Park. Lots of "goodies" in the market; very welcoming feel. Lots of healthy items from which to choose as well. The tour company we were with purchased our sandwiches from the market for our "pic-nic lunch." The deli meat was fresh and tasty, as was the bread. Even the chips were good! :o) too! :o)

Stopped by here for a quick snack in Lyons. We tried the cherry Garcia cookie and the cheddar biscuit. Super delicious. The store was clean and definitely operates like small supermarket selling local goods. The deli has a yummy looking sandwich menu.

First time here. Cute lil place. Best sandwich! Got the Santa Fe. Yum!!! Also, got steaks for dinner. Super expensive. Yikes. $45 for 2. But I like this place.

Cute little market with healthy grocery options and a deli to grab lunch in Lyons. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I love that they have healthy snack options - can grab some favorites that are usually found in a place like Whole Foods. Sandwich was made fast, good sized portion. I'm dinging one star (I'd do half if I could) for the sourdough bread. As a deli and bakery, this sourdough was more like wonder bread... Soft, mushy, and hardly any crust. More like something one can get pre-sliced in a bag from a grocery store than a fresh bakery... I was kinda hoping for that super crunchy crust with light and airy and chewy center, more of the artisanal/rustic style one could expect from a freshly baked bread. Maybe choose a different bread option than sourdough for your sandwich... Aside from that, sandwich ingredients were fresh (crisp lettuce, non-soggy tomatoes, etc.) plentiful and delicious. Would come here again, but once again, choose a different bread option

I stopped in this market in my way to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park, and was impressed by the inviting atmosphere, reflected both in their outdoor seating and the beautiful murals decorating the inside walls of the market. I bought a loaf of their in-house freshly baked sourdough bread, and I can attest how hefty and flavorful and very reasonably priced their bread is. They offer sandwiches and salads and refreshments that you can enjoy in their outside seating, and parking in the street is free for two hours.

Sandwichs, soup, and service was superb. We stopped off to check out the small stores nearby and had a bite to eat. There's only outside seating but it worked so we can take in the cute town vibes.

    What a cute street!

Fresh made sandwiches. Fabulous baked goods. And hard to find stuff in the grocery was a plus while waiting for the sandwiches.

Will be back (and again and again, but shhh! You should go before everyone finds out about it). People 10/10. Real, kind, generous. And with fun tidbits of conversation and humor. Ambiance: excellent for breakfast or brunch with friends, working solitary on your laptop, having a quick sandwich on the rooftop patio, or a work meeting (in-person would be nice because the velvet couches are legit). I really liked the attention to details (such as the hooks for hanging a purse under the countertop). Cool decor and the vibe is like somebody oversized den, but instagram-worthy, you know? The two highlights (neither of which I captured in pictures) were the mortadella sandwich (with mayo and what I think was pistachio) - EXCELLENT. It was a little pricey at $14 but a simple and hearty lunch. The other stand out item was their brownie - It was a mix of a little lava cake and chocolate fudge - again a little pricey but of all the things I got it was worth every penny. There is a walk up/take-away area and a sit down area that was charming. Parking is not always easy in the area but worth the struggle. I was extremely impressed and will be returning regularly.

We ordered two different kinds of sandwiches, and both were absolutely phenomenal. The flavor was completely on point, everything was so fresh, and they make it right in front of you. The deli is run by a super cute couple, and you can tell how much care they put into their business. We happened to visit during the shoulder season, so luckily the line wasn't very long. However, I've heard from others that this place is super popular, and during the peak summer season, there is usually a line waiting right out the door, and after eating here, I can totally see why! In fact, we loved it so much that we tried to go back the very next day, but unfortunately, they were closed (they are closed two days of the week, so be sure to check their hours!). I highly recommend stopping by Scratch Deli and Bakery. It is a must-visit spot, and we will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

All of their meats are cured in house and served on their fresh baked bread each day. They are vegetarian friendly and offer vegan and gluten free options. They also offer breakfast items like burritos. Be aware their sandwiches are loaded with ingredients and big. I could only eat half of my sandwich. I do appreciate the size though as you never know how hungry you are going to be after a long hike especially in this altitude. We went with the turkey sandwich and added cheese, all kinds of toppings and a spread. These sandwiches were very tasty and all the veggies on the sandwich were so fresh. Their baked goods looked so inviting especially the cinnamon rolls. I will have to come back! Service was efficient and helpful. Parking can be a bit of a challenge when they are busy. It was the perfect stop before entering the park!

Creative Cakes I…read morefound Tasty Cakes on yelp while searching for a bakery to make my sons birthday cake. I was impressed with the work that was presented online and wanted to patronize her business. The communication between us was fairly good with the exception of a blip when there was a family emergency. Kellie was pretty nice throughout the entire process but I did feel a little like I was bothering her with questions. I figured since I paid her $115 for a 8 inch round cake, that it was okay to make sure it was being made the way I envisioned. At some point, I went to the baking section at Michael's and looked at an 8 inch pan and thought it was super tiny. I inquired about how much it would be to make it 12 inches. I've read that she charges by the slice but I was hoping that she could cut me a deal but it didn't happen. She just said that it added 'x' amount of slices and will be an additional $55. No worries, it's a business and I completely understand. My total tab on this cake was $170. We threw a few ideas around but I gave her complete freedom to do as she wished. I'm usually hands on with everything but thought it would be nice to just let an expert do their jig. When my babies big day came, the cake was nice. It was detailed and a lot of work was definitely put into it. It was just not my personal cup of tea. Nonetheless, it was a good center piece. I ordered a bubblegum cake and I wish I didn't. When I first discusses flavors I asked about bubblegum and Kellie said that kids like it. I wanted something different so I thought it was a good choice. I only cut 20% of the cake and not one person ate a complete slice. I threw a majority of the thing away the next day. I was a little disappointed. One kid asked me what flavor it was & I said, "bubblegum." In which he replied, "Oh yeah, it tastes like bubblegum...with puke in it." I'm not blaming Kellie for my flavor choice but I would have appreciated some honesty. I suggest sticking to a normal flavor. Besides the taste, the cake wasn't very moist. I believe she started to bake on Thursday for my Saturday night party since she emailed me on a Wednesday stating that she was going to get started the next day. I know the giant (Jack the Giant Slayer theme) on top of the cake was made later because the color was more vibrant and the texture was a lot better than the main cake. This is a "cottage food" business and I really wanted to love it with all my heart. I just feel that it was a little pricey for the overall experience I had. Given the type of home based business it is, I wish she could have worked out a deal with me for a bigger sized cake. I guess I just have a chip on my shoulder because I could have ordered an amazing half sheet of scrumptious Haupia or Hawaiian Paradise cake from the notorious Kings Hawaiian bakery for under $50 if I were still in California. Tasty Cakes Cakery is a great local choice if you have the money to drop on a custom cake. Kellie does great work. If I were to do it differently, I would choose a better flavor, draw out exactly how I wanted the cake to look & ask if she could bake the cake the day before. I would have loved to meet her in person but we did everything through email, postal service to send payment, and text. She also asked if it were possible to change my drop off time because her husband was playing a game someplace and wanted to watch it, which was okay with me. I was just in school at that time, so my husband was there to receive the cake without me. Anyway, sorry for the novel. I just wanted to share my experience with my yelp community. Check her out and decide for yourself :) Solid 2.5 Stars rounded up to 3 for an A-OK experience.
