I miss my Thai massage spot back in Orange County but I was very happy with this establishment!…read more I arrived about 5 minutes before my appointment and filled out my new client form which I was immediately impressed because they ask for your problem spots there and you circle it! I think that's so helpful. I was paired with Sonia and she was amazing! She made sure that the pressure was not too much a few times and that was nice. Working on my back, she could tell what needed to be focused on. Afterwards, I paid and then received a small cup of non caffeinated tea. Such a wonderful touch to the experience. My only feedback which I recognize not much can change about this is the rooms are in separated curtains, not doors/walls. So it makes it feel not 100% private with sounds and potential for someone to just peak through the curtains.

Tina and Kate were our masseuses, and they did a terrific job. They applied the right amount of pressure and constantly checked in with us to see if the pressure was good throughout the massage. I will say that their accents are a bit hard to understand through, but they are patient. We ended the visit with 2 small cups of hot tea. Price-wise, I like that they don't charge extra for the couple's massage (it's the same price as if you got 2 individual massages. It was $220 for the two of us.

After Kave's treatment, my entire body felt great and, specifically, my shoulders and neck felt warm, loose, and flexible again. Kave gave me advice for at-home continuing care, which I will follow, but I will also be happy to go to her again for more massage therapy. Note the new location for Amylgama Massage: 317 State Street in Los Altos. The entry for the massage studio is not in the warren of offices the surrounds Fiesta Vallarta but on the parking plaza between Main and State Streets. I looked all around those offices before I found the right place on the plaza :)

I had an odd problem of an aching upper left leg/hip along with an uneven foot strike (like my left leg was slightly shorter), and a persistently sore hamstring. Kave told me that even though the symptoms were on the left, the problem was in my right leg. That sounded odd to me, but after she focused her massage efforts on several seemingly random locations (but it was clear she wasn't guessing and knew exactly how to find them), over several sessions my symptoms lessened. She said that it would take seven sessions, after which improvement would continue for a couple of weeks, and that I should be symptom-free for at least seven months. She was spot on; a couple of weeks after my last session I was all better, and I didn't start getting a sore hamstring for 9 months; time to see her again. It might be worth mentioning that before seeing Kave I had been to a physical therapist at Kaiser who gave me various exercises; they didn't help.

I got there early to make sure I had enough time to get settled and do check-in--no one was at the front and I was confused since last time there was someone. It seemed they were just chatting the whole time in the back despite me and one other person entering. It became past 6PM and I finally get settled in. I had my watch on and finally I was helped at 6:20. At this point I was just in so much pain and desperate so I waited. They finally started for maybe 10 seconds, only to leave for like 5-10 minutes to chat in the front, then come back. I was hesitant to just get up and leave but I had already waited so long. Massage was okay. Hated it to be honest. I asked for hard pressure and I feel like the person who did my massage last time did a lot better. It was difficult to communicate so I just didn't want to try. I appreciate that even though she wasn't fluent in English, she still tried. However, I think they should provide a whiteboard/pap similar to what other places do where you circle what kind of service you want, pressure, and focus areas. Anyways I finished the massage, feeling kind of meh about my whole experience. It was still $65 for 60 minutes and I was going to tip 30% which is $19.50. This was already pretty generous and what they usually ask for considering I had a delayed and poor service. I just wanted to leave and the therapist kept asking about the tip and insisted I pay an extra $6 because my back and shoulders were "tight". First off, isn't this what massages are for? I don't get a massage because I'm not tense. I get massages because my shoulders are tense, my back hurts, I worked from home, I'm in pain. Massages are literally meant to treat this. Also, I have NEVER had this experience where a therapist asked me for a tip because of that. I've gotten massages multiple times where they have no issue, and do wonderfully, and I always compliment them. This was horrible and I'm left feeling like this was not worth it. I should have just waited a day to get an appointment at Arisa Thai Massage. Anyways, I just wanted to leave because I was so sick and tired of my experience and just ended up giving her the $25 tip that she insisted on. I'm pretty pissed off. Insane. Literally never going here again. I thought I'd give it a chance since it is walking distance and I just really really was in so much pain and desperate. Now I'm out $90, still in pain, and regretful and wish I just had stayed home and slept it off. I thought that my experience would be similar to my last one, but this time I just had a really bad experience and unfortunately it seems my last visit was a 1-off thing. Left feeling like crying because it just wasn't a great experience and that I had wasted so much time and money. I reached out to the owner about my experience and he offered to give me a free massage at the Sunnyvale location. Unfortunately, it had slipped my mind since I was brought into an escalated meeting for work. I was flabbergasted that he said me not showing up was losing money, but I lost money during my horrible massage and experience. I just hung up at that point and didn't want deal anymore. I feel I gave them a fair chance, but nothing will take away from the experience I had at my last massage session. "Losing money".. no.. at least the business got $90 out of me at my last session. I lost money. Honestly wish I just requested a refund. -- Edit in response to owner: As for the follow-up: yes, I had scheduled a free session, but unfortunately had to miss it due to a work escalation. It happens. I reached out to explain, yet your response was to say that you lost money because I didn't show up. Please understand: I lost money first--$90 for a delayed, uncomfortable, and ineffective massage. And your concern about your loss over my missed free session, rather than any real acknowledgment of what I went through, only reinforced my frustration. I came to you in pain and left feeling worse--physically and emotionally. I genuinely wish I had never returned after my first visit. While I acknowledge you tried to rectify it by offering another session, your handling of this situation afterward makes it clear this is not a business I can trust with my well-being again. I stand by my review.

Review for Watercourse Way Bath House Spa…read more A peaceful oasis in the middle of Palo Alto that works for just about any occasion. This is a long overdue review. I have been to Watercourse Way by myself, with girlfriends, and with boyfriends--and it has been solid every single time. Whether you're looking for quiet alone time, a girls' day, or a relaxing couples experience, this place truly has something for everyone. What makes Watercourse Way special is the privacy and flexibility. The private rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully designed. Each one typically includes a hot tub, cold plunge, shower, and a comfortable resting area with clean towels and linens. It feels like your own little retreat tucked away from the world. They also offer larger rooms that are perfect for sharing with friends--soaking, chatting, and maybe adding a massage to the experience. The massage services are excellent, and you can book them individually, as a couple, or as part of a group visit. The staff makes the whole process easy and welcoming. A few practical notes: * Parking can be a little tricky right near the entrance * I usually park at the Whole Foods on Homer Avenue and walk a block or two--it's simple and feels very safe * The facility is consistently clean, well-maintained, and professionally run * Prices are reasonable for the level of privacy and service you receive What I appreciate most about Watercourse Way is how it encourages you to slow down. It's the kind of place that reminds you to take care of yourself, breathe, and reset. Life is short. Stress is unavoidable. You can't control other people--but you can control how you respond. So go soak. Get a massage. Unwind. Make it part of your routine. You'll leave calmer than when you arrived--and that alone makes it worth it.

Having recently had a great facial experience somewhere else, I was reminded of my disappointing…read moreexperience here last July. I had been neglecting my skin and knew it needed some help, so I booked the custom facial so the esthetician could choose what made sense instead of guessing myself. Once I was trying to relax, in the towel robe and lying down eyes closed to block the bright light, she looked at my skin and proceeded to tell me I needed a different facial because the custom one wouldn't be "enough." It was not really clear to me what the differences were although I asked clarifying questions, but she talked through multiple options and prices even mentioning one had an offer of a free take home product. This was NOT the vibe I was looking for. Now I could have just said no please stick with the original plan, but I was vulnerable... this was the first nice postpartum thing I had done for myself and did want to do what was needed for my skin. However, I ultimately felt like I was being upsold and having to make the decision to spend more money on the spot when I'm sitting there eyes closed trying to relax. It was too much mental load especially since I wasn't familiar with the facial options as a first time customer. The mention of the free product also made me feel like it was a sales pitch. I wasn't familiar with the product, and it wasn't going to play a factor in my facial choice. The facial overall seemed good and I did add on microderm abrasion which I do think make sense for my skin and would have been a simple add on without doing the mental math on the other facial types. At the end, she put on a tinted sunscreen that when I stepped out, made me appear slightly orange like a really poor foundation match so I ended up going home to wipe off my face instead of continuing along my day. All in all, I think they use quality products and know what they're doing. However, my recent facial somewhere else reminded me how this one was simply not a relaxing experience, made me feel put on the spot, and led me to spend more than I had planned without the conviction it made a noticeable difference.
