What a neat spot! I have been meaning to go to the one in Oro Valley but I am seldom up that way- this one is in a perfect location! I love independent bookshops, especially ones that are built for browsing and chatting. Also, we got a coffee flight and even thought there were some flavors that weren't my favorite I was so enchanted by the concept that I didn't even mind. i will say that the flight would be best shared because they are full pours- close to 40 ounces of coffee! I am looking forward to a return trip, but it may need to wait until the books waiting to be read pile shrinks a bit... or do I? read more

I was genuinely excited to learn that a bookshop and coffee shop in the area would finally be open later into the evening. I had visited this location several times before and always appreciated the ambience, the quality of the coffee and food, and the variety of merchandise. Unfortunately, this most recent visit was a markedly negative experience. Because I had enjoyed the shop in the past, I invited several close friends to explore it with me and then sit down to chat over coffee and scones. Shortly after we arrived, an employee--an older woman--began hovering around our group in a way that felt intrusive and uncomfortable. She informed us that a book club meeting was taking place and insisted that we remain quiet. Any time one of us spoke above a whisper, she would approach and linger nearby, glaring at us. The entire situation felt inappropriate, especially given that this is a retail space, not a library. If the intention was to maintain a quiet environment for a private meeting, the shop should have been closed to the public during that time. What made the situation even more frustrating was that members of the book club themselves were laughing and speaking loudly enough to be heard from the front of the store. It created the impression that the issue was not noise in general, but perhaps our group specifically. At times we were speaking in Spanish, and I cannot help but wonder if that contributed to her behavior. This experience left all of us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. It is disappointing to feel harassed in a place where we were paying customers, and it certainly diminished our desire to return. What should have been an enjoyable outing instead left a very sour impression. read more

Still loving it! I've been frequently coming to this spot for work and chill times. Though, I've not had an opportunity to experience the night. It's been lovely and tbh, I can't think of a single thing I don't like. Plenty of space, all indoor. Good for work or chill. Lots of drinks and food. Lots of books! Cute items to purchase like Knick knacks. Bathrooms and WiFi for guest. Good service. Yummy coffee. read more

This is my happy place! I've been to the northwest location months ago and it was such a great experience! Once, I heard Stacks was opening a central location, I knew I had to head in. Their second location is in the space that Austin's diner use to occupy and celebrates the restoration of the Sunshine Mile. It's a fantastic amount of space with plenty of tables, comfy couches, and even a bar seating area at the counter. They have such a phenomenal selection of books it's amazing! They have so many genres, and offer frequent buyer discounts, and book clubs you can join! They also offer a multitude of beverages, including local coffee, beer and wine. And most importantly, they have excellent snacks! I decided on a glass of Chardonnay and a charcuterie plate. For everything I received, it was a great amount of food for a reasonable price! I had a total blast sitting on a comfortable chair, sipping wine, and people watching. I ended up also checking out all of their local gifts and goodies they sell. I had to buy a cookbook by my favorite chef (and human!) Chef Jose Andres. This spot is going to become my regular getaway for relaxing, reading, studying, and getting out of the summer heat. I highly recommend this newly opened, locally owned, central bookstore. Go in and read awhile! read more

First, I love Stacks and always go to the Oro Valley location, so I was excited to visit this location. Regarding the bookstore, it is more spacious than the Oro Valley location, and I think they have a better book selection. Second, their drinks are delicious, so no complaints in this category. However, the parking is a hassle and limited, so this may be a disadvantage if you visit. Otherwise, support local indie bookstores, and Stacks is one of them. read more

Came here, like a lot of other women, to gather for a social meetup. My group was there to craft, make new friends while enjoying an alcoholic beverage that was not served in a bar all while chatting surrounded by books and occasional wafts of baked goods or roasting beans. Partook of a refreshing cider and a rice crispy treat and took home a pain chocolat for the hubby. There's a variety of seating including bar space, and a fun selection of merch. Didn't buy any books but did see some interesting titles to check at the near next time. Definitely worth a stop in for a cup and bookish curiosity. read more

Thrilled to have another Stacks in town. They bring such a beautiful 3rd space to our Tucson community. Plenty of comfy chairs and couches are available, along with a long community table if you're looking for a work space. The bookshelves themselves are gorgeous woodwork, with the special addition of rolling ladders. The coffee/drink bar is much the same as the original location, meaning they make a great cup of coffee. Keep an eye out for the unique seasonal menu changes. My only suggestion is to consider parking at the back lot because the spots in front of the strip of shops is limited. read more

I got 2 honey lavender lattes with cold foam for my mom and I and also a mango strawberry lemonade for my child and they were all delicious!! It was the first time visiting and there was an author event which was really nice to sit down and experience! 10/10 recommend. I'm definitely going back!! read more

Stoked for Stacks! This second store is nicely located on Broadway I like the plaza and lots of parking options. The store is bigger than the OV shop! I love the style and all the book cafe scents! Coffee brewing, fresh new books, the wood smell-AH! I came for the soft opening of "The May House" and the event was lovely. When there aren't chairs I believe there will be plenty of furniture and tables. The bathroom is simple and nice too. I'm looking forward to visiting again and making this my local spot. The best bookstore in Tucson has added a second location more centrally located, and it gorgeous inside!! Beautiful stacks of books on beautiful wooden shelves with brick wall behind it!! I came tonight for the May House discussion with the fabulous Hannah Lisa Lohr moderating!! It was a packed house with specialty drinks, a book signing and an engaging discussion! There will so many more events here once they officially open in a couple of weeks. There are so many book-themed gifts, puzzles, jewelry, coffee and adult beverages too... it's more than just books, but the curated book selection is top notch and offers something for everyone!! I have been a long time customer of Stacks, and recently had the opportunity to visit the Broadway location. Initially starting, parking was certainly a challenge as the space is tight and while one can park in another store's parking lot, it's certainly not one's primary choice especially in the heat. Moving forward, entering the store, I adored the space, some furniture, and layout options especially the brick walls and merchandise all being in one location toward the back (significant improvement from the OV location). Food wise, I enjoyed my sandwich and drink- no concerns and given the rush I felt it was in fine time. It's not unique but it's adequate. Staff was courteous though clearly swamped. Seating wise, it is certainly packed and there are many people on laptops for timely periods- perhaps because it's downtown towards the UofA with students. Though, it is fairly chatty/noisy but nothing unexpected. However, I was able to find seating and enjoyed my food. Regarding the book selection, I was surprised it was very similar to the OV selection as they do have thousands of covers, primarily mainstream and a dash of local author. None being my cup of tea but a good selection from a store that is half cafe. If I was in the area, I would certainly visit but not a location I might go out of my way for. read more
