My eggs were cooked to perfection My partner had the kalua pork Benedict. The kalua pork was melt in your mouth perfection and tender. Hollandaise sauce was creamy and velvet like. This is probably my go to breakfast spot in Irvine and Newport. They've got a great mix of American and Hawaiian style breakfast. I love Hawaiian breakfast so this fits right into what I love. They've got indoor and outdoor seating here. You order and pay at the counter and they bring out your order. My main go to here is the korean short rib with scrambled eggs and rice. The food came out quickly, and is representative of just good, quality, no frill Hawaiian food. Portions are large (we couldn't finish and took half of the food home). This past weekend, we were in the Irvine area supporting my niece as she performed in a Filipino Culture Night event. The following day we met up with my brother's family for breakfast since we didn't get to celebrate his daughter's performances because her event got out so late. I recommended Stacks Pancake House based on high Yelp rating and positive reviews. What also intrigued me about Stacks was their Hawaiian influenced dishes. It was a great choice especially if you're a peanut butter fan because their Crunchy Peanut Butter + Banana French Toast was soooooooo delish. Stacks is a small chain restaurant consisting of four restaurants located around the Orange County area. I'm assuming Stacks is owned by a Hawaiian or has origins from Hawaii because when you peruse their menu, you'll see plenty of Hawaiian dishes. The Stacks location we visiting is located in the Irvine area specifically in an outdoor strip mall on Culver Drive. This strip mall contains Trader Joe's, Omomo Tea Shoppe, The Kebab Shop, and the restaurant is next to a Smart & Final and Dolan's. There is plenty of parking at this location, but it's a busy location. As you enter the restaurant, there really isn't any decor that attributes Stacks to Hawaii. There are framed pics of food; the color scheme is green and beige; the indoor seating isn't too big; and there is umbrella outdoor seating. When you walk inside, you'll immediately order at the counter and they'll provide you with a number for the servers to bring your food. One of the servers didn't speak English, so she couldn't answer my questions about the food she was bringing out to us. Stacks has a diverse and extensive menu, so before you visit, I recommend that determine what you're going to order before you get in line. Stacks is a popular breakfast spot as the line to order food extended outside. I wished I had taken more time to look over the menu, but what grasped my attention immediately was the Crunchy Peanut Butter + Banana French Toast. I'm an aficionado of peanut butter, so when I saw that their French Toast contained peanut butter, I was all in. The Crunchy Peanut Butter + Banana French Toast is made with Hawaiian Sweet Bread, dusted with powder sugar, the peanut butter is in the middle of the bread, the peanut butter is piped on top of the bread, and the banana is sliced on top of the bread. When I took my first bite, I was in peanut butter heaven. Combine all the ingredients of this dish with the maple syrup and it was indulgence with every single bite. Not sure what they did to make the French Toast crunchy, but I loved the texture of that crunch. I just wish there was more on that plate. To cut the sweetness of my meal, I ordered a side of Portuguese sausage. The sausage was charred slightly and I enjoyed it, but for $6, I thought it was a small serving. My parents instilled in my brothers and I that family comes first always. I was glad that my wife and I were able to support our niece at her performance. The first time I was here, I did a "to go" and I tried their signature Ube pancakes. I recall them being nice and fluffy with a hint of ube taste, but didn't write a review. Was here again with a friend on 06-22-24 and we experienced a pleasant dining experience. While it feels like a mostly "self service" establishment, they do bring the food to you after you wait in line to order. Condiments, water, and "to go" containers are out for your convenience. I don't recall tipping anyone before we left. My friend was not a fan of her Hibachi Shrimps cuz she was expecting something more like the Giovanni truck and unfortunately, they looked overcooked and dry. I went with another signature, the Guava Toffee French Toast, which was good, but nothing to write home about. I'm happy to see that the place was near full on this Friday at 10 a.m. Maybe we just need to select the RIGHT menu option. I'll review Yelp ... again. read more

I think the spicy waffle is very good especially if you put two eggs on top. The pancakes were a short stack of two and had plenty of ube flavor since both the batter and syrup on top were vibrantly purple from the ube. The omelette and potatoes were solid, the meal helped satisfy my brunch cravings. I tried some of the Island Chilaquiles from someone at my table who ordered it but it wasn't as good as I expected. Our table ordered the: Loco Moco with katsu (other options are hamburger, Portuguese sausage, spam), Corned beef hash, and a Simple breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bacon). The food was bland and pretty basic. The saving grace for the pancakes was the coconut syrup (you have to request it). It's not really a syrup, it's more like the consistency of clotted cream, but delicious nonetheless. Parking is rough, it's just a really busy plaza. I used to come to Stacks all the time for brunch when I lived closed by. This spot is very casual but don't let that deter you. The food here is delicious. I love how they incorporated Hawaiian food and just good old comfort style breakfast food. I ordered the biscuits and gravy lite bite meal pretty much every time I went here. It was the perfect size for me; it came with your choice of protein and 2 eggs. All the menu items are very reasonable priced here. The service was always fast and accommodating.
