I thought the katsu was just okay, even in light of the portion size, I am not certain I'd be willing to pay $20 for "okay" katsu. To be honest, I don't really like chicken katsu made from chicken breast... it doesn't really hit for me. The sauce seemed like the store bought bulldog katsu sauce and is a little too tart for my liking. But the mac salad was pretty good and so was the homemade POG. My friends got loco moco and corned beef hash and enjoyed it so those might be better dishes reflective of the restaurant quality. My family ordered two dishes and waited approximately 40 minutes. When I politely asked for an update, I was told that our food would be ready shortly. What an disappointment. We went to Stacks the day after Xmas. Orders our normal dish and both has home friend potatoes. One of my children starts to complain the home friend potatoes had a wired after taste. I happen to pick up another potatoes from my plate. Obviously, it is a "rotten" pieces of potatoes. I immediately went to the counter and with the half bitten potatoes, one of the lady took a smell, and immediately throw in the trash. They are soon offer a replacement on the two side potatoes. As luck has it, the first bite on the replace potatoes, it was another "rotten" piece. It has to be very rotten that a fryer cannot covered the taste. I went back and show them the piece again. once again, they offered to "replace" the potatoes. Of course, I won't want any more potatoes from that place. They should throw out all the cooked potatoes and start from scratch. I have total 4 sides, from different time point and they are all bad. Unfortunately, they didn't any action. I am here to make a major positive update about my experience! We arrived for brunch on a weekday, so there was absolutely no wait and much available seating both inside and outside. After we ordered, we received our drinks almost immediately after as they prepared them as we listed our long orders at the register! We took a seat outside and enjoyed that there tables both with and without umbrellas for coverage from the sun. It allowed for the optimal comfort level in that regard. Our food arrived in no longer than 10 minutes after we ordered. The main reason for this update is because of my dish. I decided to try the crepes again and I am SO glad that I did. I ordered the Banana Nutella 'N Cream crepes. However, I very much so customized it and am beyond happy that I did so. I asked if I could replace the bananas with strawberries and to add extra Nutella drizzle. Not only were they so kind as to accept these customizations, but they even added an extra little cup of Nutella on the side which I appreciated SO much. The old school type of diner breakfast one might find in a small town where Beatrice takes your order every morning with a smile and tables are bussed seconds upon leaving. The service is on it. Fluffy and fresh and does the trick for good ol' carb craving. The avocado omelet was netted with cheese. Good flavor. Got my egg fix and a peelable cheesy frisbee. Huevos rancheros were decent. Sloppier than my taste but the potatoes were fresher and juicier than most other breakfast joints. I stupidly got the side of fruit and don't ever do that. Get toast if you ordered omelet. Cause those precut pineapples, just like the packaged one from the store and grapes casually disguising it's purple-ness among leaking juices of yellow. Well I finally had the chance to eat in at Stacks Pancake House in Irvine on Presidents Day! I apologize for not getting any more pictures aside from my dish but I'll be descriptive as possible. The restaurant itself is fairly tiny so seating could be a hassle. Keep in mind for any big parties eating here. They do offer outdoor seating! I opted to order the meat lovers omelette while my friend ordered the hibachi steak and eggs. With the restaurant being filled, we had to sit outside and wait for our order to come out. The lady that brought our food was super nice and brought us our dishes in about 5 minutes along with condiments. My favorite part of the meat lovers omelette was the Portuguese sausage. It was sweet tasting and paired well with all the other meats and cheeses. It was absolutely delicious! I had a bite of the hibachi steak and the marinade used as well as how tender the steak was... it was delicious as well! This place is locally loved and you can tell from the community that they love the food here and I have to attest, what I ordered was absolutely delicious! The only thing I really have to dock is the size of the actual indoor restaurant. I really wish they could expand a bit more for inside seating especially on a cold, drizzly day! But with successful businesses around it, it does seem like a hard feat. Other than that, this place is a must try for any breakfast lovers!
