Lovely cafe, right on the historic Woodstock square. Parking is easy and the staff here are very kind.

Absolutely lovely…read more Located on the Main Square of Woodstock, IL, this cafe serves breakfast and lunch in a warm, welcoming space. Our waitress tells us the business previously at this location got a make over when participating in a foodnetwork TV show. Sweet. The decor is earthy colors with wood on the walls, fun signs, comfortable booths and tables for groups. Highchairs are available for your tiny family members. A hostess will seat you with menus and flatware wrapped in a napkin. Salt, pepper, sugar, creamer, jelly, syrup, ketchup and hot sauces are on the table. One side of the menu is breakfast, the other lunch. We were asked right away if we would like coffee. The staff here are all very nice and welcoming. Different members of staff came around to all tables several times during our stay refilling coffees as needed. Our waitress checked in on us a couple of times and actually stopped at the table to be sure we had all we needed, not just running past. We both ordered breakfast and the portions are generous. I had the Irish Bene and they don't skimp on the smoked salmon! The eggs were poached well, a generous amount of spinach and the potato pancake is tasty and light. I very much enjoyed their coffee. Strong, hot and smooth. Not at all bitter. Yay. Two remodled, single-person restrooms are at the back of the restaurant where you'll also find hooks for your coat. A diaper station is in the ladies room. The restaurant has two window walls letting in the sun light. On-street parking is free. If we lived here this would be our breakfast place!

Love this diner, clean and pretty right next to the Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple. Thus, you can go…read moreto the temple and remind yourself that all suffering stems from desire and that we should have compassion for all life then walk half a block and work up a desire for sausage and biscuits thus negating the inner peace you just stepped into. It would be really fundamentally incorrect to describe their sausage and biscuits as Nirvana in the Buddhist sense, but the dish is very good and so is the coffee. Most tables have a good view of the town square featured in "Groundhog Day," and the diner is next door to a nice indie bookstore.

And always friendly, high quality staff. What's more is that they embrace the role of community uniter, sponsoring countless community events, and hosting gatherings like the weekly community open mic night where musicians of all ilk are welcomed and appreciated. Oh and they also feature an adjacent, highly-curated fine wine and spirits shop, and an upstairs speakeasy to boot!

The front has large windows, a couple of patio tables, and bright yellow mums that invite you to step inside. Once inside, it's a big space with a chill vibe. The order counter is large, with a few seats and a good view into the barista area. There's plenty of seating for different-sized groups, plus an elevated seating and stage area at the back. It was late Monday afternoon, and there were only a couple of other people inside. I got a friendly greeting from the barista and help with my order. I went with my usual London Fog Tea Latte in a mug (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam). I also wanted some bakery, but the only options were cookies and brownies, so I chose the Molasses Cookie. Along with that, I ordered a Peach Mango Refresher. The beverages and cookie were good. The refresher was made with half coconut milk, which added some richness. The London Fog was decent, and the cookie was chewy and flavorful. It made for a very relaxing time, sitting on a sofa and reading a book. On the way out, we browsed the small wine and grocery room off to the right. Lots of interesting spices, wines, vinegars, and gift ideas. This is definitely a place I'll stop in again.

We opted to share a lamb pizza, a tomato and cucumber salad and a meat tray. All were excellent, plenty of food. The pita was excellent. The tea at the end was lovely. The pistachio crumble latte is still one of my favorites -- creamy, flavorful, and comforting. If you prefer stronger coffee, I'd definitely recommend adding an extra shot. The pogacha with beef and the burek were both delicious, rich, and full of flavor. I also tried the pistachio cheesecake, and it was absolutely delicious -- just as good as I remembered. I was a little disappointed with the Dubai chocolate cheesecake this time though. It didn't even look the same as before, and the pistachio paste tasted less natural than I remembered. The service was good, everyone was friendly, and I'll definitely come back again.
