I have lived in Shadow Hills for almost 2 years now, but I think I'm just starting to learn how cool Stallion Market really is. It's tucked away in the Shadow Hills neighborhood, right across from a feed and tack store. Perfect for when you just need a little something (the standard convenience store selection), some drinks or beer, cigarettes, etc. You won't find a whole lot on the "craft" side of beer, but they do have a few (Sierra Nevada, Space Dust, and a couple of others). And they have a respectable selection of wines and liquors (for a convenience market, folks; manage your expectations). The staff are always friendly, and the prices are fair. But what really sets it apart from the rest is that it actually has a deli counter where you can order sandwiches and whatnot. And I'm actually JUST NOW learning they make "MOJOS" there! What??? I never knew, and now I need to go back and try them. LOL read more

I was working near by elementary school that day and teachers recommended this spot. First definitely moms n pops spot which normally they are always good. I got sub sandwich Italian and the lady who made it is awesome so nice the whole time. The sandwich wow was excellent with drink about $10 bucks but totally worth it. If you in the area definitely try out will not disappoint. read more

I live in the area and am so lucky to have Stallion Market close by! They always seem to have what I need when I'm pressed for time or don't want to make a trip to the grocery store for one item. There's a great selection wines and the deli has really yummy fresh made to order sandwiches. All the folks who work there are awesome and so friendly. I feel like I'm back in the small town I grew up where people take the time to get to know you and always remember your name:) The prices are good and there's always lots of parking. Sometimes you might see horses hanging out while their humans are inside shopping which is always super cool If you are in the area, I recommend stopping in for a sandwich. read more

Let me start by telling you that I'm a little biased towards this place. But then again, any local from Shadow Hills will tell you the same. I've been coming here since I was a little boy in his days of summer camp. Their potato wedges have become famous throughout the neighborhood, and have picked up the name "mojos". The mojos alone will get this place at least four stars. Their sandwiches are delicious, and from Mon-Sat their deli is serving up delicious and homey comfort food. The convenience market part of Stallion is always stocked with everything you could need or want spontaneously/in a pinch. The customer service and reputation Stallion market has earned is time tested and is something that draws me back time and time again. I was traveling from the South Bay to Sunland to pick-up an item I found on Craigslist when I came across this Market. It was extremely hot in the Valley so when I came upon a market called 'Stallion' I knew I had to stop. The outside of this market is dusty from the surrounding ranches & farms but inside of this location it is absolutely pristine. I was also quite surprised when I walked into this market to find that they make their own food. This market had everything from fresh made sandwiches, to fried chicken, to their famous (so I am told) potato wedges. I was in a pinch for time otherwise I would have indulged in some of tasty cuisine on hand. I ended up picking up some ice cold water and played some lottery before departing. For those who live in the area this market has everything you need. You will find cold drinks, cold beer, food and your basic necessities that you might find at a 7/11, they even sell feed for horses. I found the staff working to be extremely friendly and seemed to know almost everyone in the store at the time of my visit by name. I highly doubt I will be in this area anytime soon but I might just drive back here on a whim to try their food. If you happen to be in the area make sure you make a stop by this market you will not be disappointed. The views from the private parking lot are simply breath taking. If you are ok with the hillbilly/equestrian/Mexican/blue collar/forgotten middle class neighborhood, then this place is for you. They have pretty much everything you may need in a pinch. This place is great if you're looking for that mom and pops taste in sandwiches. My go to here is the turkey sandwich , man does it hit the spot. You get that awesome middle layer big chains always skimp on. Great price as well. Kind of hidden but maybe that's a good thing. Have not tried their potato wedges but heard they're bomb. read more

Love this place! It's right down the street from my house.. So nice and convenient! The owners.. I think are brothers, Lebanese? They are both very nice. It's like a quick one stop shop. Stopped in at the Stallion Market to get a sandwich at their deli counter. There were two middled aged ladies working behind the counter. The fried chicken smelled wonderful so I decided to get a few few pieces to go. One of the ladies made my sandwich while the other lady got the chicken. The lady getting the chicken takes out this styrofoam container and proceeds to put the pieces of chicken. I watch this and am shocked to see that the container has been used and is dirty and greasy. Sometimes I'm really ready for a good argument but today I was worn out so I kept my mouth shut. I paid for everything left and tossed the chicken in the trash. Very disappointing. read more
