At the same time I am not looking to be in some uber-hardo Cobra Kai type place where I have to do bare knuckle push-ups on shards of broken glass to prove how tough I am. Stamford Boxing and Fitness is exactly what I am looking for. Jesse and Rafael create a great environment to get in shape and learn the discipline of boxing. The classes cater to a wide range of students, from people who are there predominantly to get in or stay in shape, to those who are competitive amateur fighters. The classes are organized and fun, with a good balance between the strength/cardio workouts and boxing technique. Jesse and Rafael are good at moving around the space and helping out the students on their technique and form. They use a shared mixed use space, which is used by other martial art schools so they have all the equipment you would expect, free weights, tractor tire, heavy bags, speed bag and one boxing ring. It's nice to have found a place with everything I was looking for so close to home.

Arriving the woman running the place (i assume Betty) ignored us for at least 10 minutes. She was busy writing, with the other kids and ordering a teenager on how to do things. Kids that were already there for camp were exercising on machines built for adults like the elliptical. In my opinion completely not safe for anyone younger than 10. So for the Day... my kids said they were on the machines for most of the morning. Then they took a walk to a local restaurant eat lunch. Came back and they played games then watched a movie until I picked them up. Oh then they exercised again. My kids said that the teenager there ran the camp mostly. The adult (I'm assuming Betty) was behind the desk the entire time. I've written a review on here before and it always gets deleted. I say save your money. Spend a little more on a camp that you know you're kids will benefit from. Also... I was a subway one time during lunch and my friends and I had a couple tables they were saving. Betty and a group of like 12 kids stormed in and she was yelling that she had a reservation telling us to move. The employees told her that she didn't and were shocked at her behavior. She realized that we were not budging because we started eating our food and stormed out with her group of campers. This place should be shut down.

I going to a gym here and even lifting weights 4 times a week, but I don't have the same definition or the line down my belly I had with her class. I can only imagine if I had gone twice a week! The hour would fly by and Betty changed it up so we weren't getting bored with the same routine. If you are looking to tone up - I suggest going to her classes. She also provided some nutritional information - which reminds me to up my protein. I miss Betty's class and my tone tummy and thighs I had!

She is the most patient person I've ever met. If you don't get or do something properly she will show you and never gets annoyed. She is full of great energy. I'm also shocked reading all the bad reviews. It's actually a decent gym. It's always clean - that's coming from a clean freak! They have a swimming pool, basketball ball court and do various classes also. Give it chance and just try it and make your own decision after that! And def choose Naya as your personal trainer.

Unfortunately, the number of good classes has been reduced significantly. Many of the classes that people actually enjoyed were removed, and the remaining options are not very appealing. The biggest problem, however, is some of the staff. They can be very rude and inattentive. One of the cleaners, Olga, is especially unpleasant and constantly interferes with members and criticizes people--not just me, but others as well. When I asked her name, she told me it was Maria, which I later found out was not true. I also frequently see her sitting in the restroom on her phone for long periods of time, while the locker room and showers are left dirty. There is often hair left in the showers and on the floors. She also spends 30-40 minutes talking in the locker room instead of keeping the area clean. It's disappointing because the gym itself has a lot of potential, but the customer service, cleanliness, and lack of good classes really need improvement.
