We ordered the Marinated Iron Flat Steak and the Pan Roasted Salmon with red wine. We also had the portobello mushrooms caprese, which was very fulfilling and flavorful. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and came with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. At first, I was not sure about the combination, but it actually worked well together. The flavors complemented each other nicely. The salmon was cooked perfectly and came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The texture was great and the seasoning was solid. It also came with pineapple, which added a sweet element, but the pineapple was a bit too sour, so the balance felt slightly off. Even so, the dish was still enjoyable. Customer service was good. This review is strictly for the Thanksgiving brunch buffet. Food was very tasty and flavorful. Crab claws were partially cracked which was great. Scallops ceviche was surprisingly good. Salmon was delicious. Ribs had a yummy sauce but meat did not fall off the bone. Only downside was the soup and gravy were luke warm instead of hot. Had to call over the server if needed otherwise he never came to our table. Finally got a cup of coffee but needed to ask again for the cream and again for a spoon. I was nearby in the cluster of hotels nearby with 37 North appearing as one of the top restaurants to try. I hate to say this, but the current iteration of 37 North is not great. The best thing I had here was the brussels sprouts and chips. I liked that it was crispy and had bacon bits in between. The pricing however is super high. The worst thing I had here were the chicken tacos. It doesn't come with any sides and only the 3 tacos. The tortillas are super dry and unflavored. The chicken itself tasted really rubbery and possibly just reheated. And there were few toppings on the the taco itself. The salsa provided is simply a knockoff pico de gallo that has no spice. They do have Tapatio at the very leas. Again, the pricing felt super high with that Doubletree premium. I also got soda water as well. All of this came out to $40+ which I felt was super unsatisfactory. The waiter was bright and cheery at the very least while the hostess was not very happy to be there. As a family, we decided to go to the 37 North Restaurant and Bar DoubleTree for Mother's Day brunch. This year, parking was super easy. When we checked in, I went to the restroom right away. When I came back and tried to find my family, I saw they were seated at a table right behind the hostess. I asked the hostess if we could move to a round table I saw across from us, but she said we couldn't for two reasons. First, that table wasn't in our server Alex's section -- although I'm not sure why that mattered so much. Second, she mentioned that a larger party might be expected and might need that table. However, an hour into our meal, I noticed that the same table I had asked about ended up being used by a party of four, just like ours. Why was that even a factor in seating flexibility? Why do we need to stick with this specific sever and can't move? For the record there were plenty of other servers. 3. There was a very weird dynamic between the hostess and the servers. I'm so sick and tired of experiencing this kind of treatment -- in restaurants. Easter Sunday 3/31/24 I decided to try a new brunch. We usually go to another restaurant every year. We had reservations and still had to wait. An employee came in and was seated right away. Finally after waiting 15 minutes the list was growing with people waiting I decided to inquire. Oh you will be seated next. Since there were 2 of us most of the seats for 2 have no back to the seat. Since I have a back injury I asked if I can have a seat with a back the girl said no to the tables set for 3 to 4. She finally found a 2 seat with a back to the chair. Need to work on her people skills. We waited long for a waiter to come to our table. After that I had to keep asking for coffee no offer to refill anything or if we needed anything. I had just returned to the table with my first plate the waiter brought the check right away. An automatic 18 percent gratuity was added on our bill for 2 people. If I did not flag people down I would not have been helped with our beverages. Food the plates are only on one end of the restaurant. All the foods I tasted were over salted. The bacon, sausage, and crab very salty. The clams were dry and tasteless with lots of sand. There were no signs telling people what the foods were. The person swapped out the fruit platter and took the tongs. People were grabbing the spoon from the shrimp to use as a serving utensil. Be mindful that people may have allergies and cross contamination. I told the person who replaced the fruit platter he took the tongs and needs a clean utensil there. And of course that took time for him to return. The omelette station omelette was moist. The prime rib was good but the person needed a sharper knife. The meat was falling apart it was sliced so thin. I asked for a thicker piece and he didn't understand me and gave me 2 thin slices. These are the only 2 positive dishes. Plus lamb was well done and horseradish was not the real thing and did not taste good. Desserts were mostly cakes no cookies, no Easter decorated dessert items or anything festive. Seriously need signs on all your foods. Also a waiter commented loud enough that the general manager was there dining and commented Try waiting on them. We wanted to stay in after a long day's work, so we opted to check out this on-site restaurant, since the prices looked pretty reasonable. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman at the host stand who then proceeded to seat the two of us in a huge comfy round booth (instead of those uncomfortable chairs and tables). That was a treat. I am sad for all the one-star reviews for 37 North. Honestly, I have looked at these people's reviews, and I have to say that they have questionable tastes because one-star rating (sans an atrocious experience) means people have too high of a standard or they cannot put things in perspective (especially money and food portions): fast food experience vs fine dining experience vs casual dining experience, these are all very different things. Adapt your expectations, as needed. I ate here on New Year's Day because I had just arrived to the Bay Area. With the Rose Game on, I was definitely liking the bar and TVs. The bartender, Rusty, was real cool. He makes one of the best Bloody Mary drinks I have ever had in life. Honestly, I promise! So good. I also had a margarita, but, in all seriousness, though, if you see him at the bar, ask for a Bloody Mary. Food-wise: I was feeling peckish that steak was the only option for me, the rib-eye, to be exact. Rusty warned me it was a huge piece of meat, as big as my head. My reaction: bring it. I was satiated. Service was great throughout my experience. The atmosphere is very laid-back, which I like. Price: a little on the higher side, but this is the DoubleTree (Hilton hotel). Good grief an entire room of tables but the ones on the far right near the TVs are closed... because "we only have one server" lol close the left ones and open the ones near the TVs to all the 6 people in the "restaurant" Indoor dashed from kincaids fish and chop house and ate at the table of my choosing. 3 people came to tell me I could not sit at that table (photo coming) neglected to mention I'm diamond and email out bound. I must say the Customer service,Food and drinks at this restaurant are Fire!!!! They are remodeling at the moment so ambiance to come. However, best customer service I've had in Burlingame and that's saying a lot. Plus the food was amazing. Will be back. Bartender Miguel makes a great margarita. read more
