I'm glad folks have hod good experience with Stang. Mine had been meh. Costs are a little high and they have not been responsive several times when I needed a repair. A couple years ago they really socked it to my then 21 y/o son on an A/C repair that they didn't really fix - they were pretty stingy about the whole thing. I figure if you charge a kid $1200 to fix N A/C, the work you did wasn't successful, and it turns out to be a $30 part, there ought to be a little give in pricing. I get it - the A/C components that were changed and the labor hours is good work done, but when the follow up is such a simple thing - a half hour to change a $30 part - billing probably should reflect a significant discount, like no labor charge. Nope - the follow up work fell under up-front pricing. Diagnostic fees, minimum labor charge, the whole bit. Im sorry - $300 for that simple add on that you missed the first time is not a fair practice. Charge me for the part, shake my hand, and call it good. Received a marketing email from them this morning. Here was my response: "Hey, Stang - I texted you guys on April 9 regarding a repair quote for my 2017 Jeep Renegade. You never responded. Where to begin? This was the second sub-par shop I went to, to fix a very simple issue. They had my truck ALL DAY LONG, with the request of fixing my windshield wiper pumps. I had to call them at 4 to find out news, which was basically rubbish. I go to pick up the truck only to listen to them blabber on and on and at the end fixed nothing and charged me $200 to do so!!! WHAT THE....??? I was shocked at the incompetence, actually. After I returned from my road trip, I found the entire tank with the pumps and the sheath (that Stang actually cracked and didn't tell me about) for $100 at a junk yard. That's right....they made it worse and didn't tell me!!!! F this place. It took me about an hour to replace the entire thing and it now works great! The Stang front desk attendant, Tristan, and his manager, the President of the company Robert, asserted Tristan had told my fiancée that he informed her the reason for the cost of $288 up front. They essentially called us liars since my fiancée wasn't told the cost was for the catalytic converter inspection for an emissions test; my fiancée assumed the cost was for the work done, not the inspection Itself. She was ready to leave after handing over the emissions paperwork when Tristan told her to sign for it. Robert Blaes, the President of the company, who assured me they had video with audio, along with coworkers saying the video had audio, so he said he would rip up the check if he saw there was no conversation about the cost of the estimate. Of course, he sent a video without any audio included. Thus, he didn't honor the verbal agreement. I wouldn't put it past him to delete the audio. He insisted that 100% of the time his workers communicate the reason for the price up front. Then when we spoke further, he changed that to 80%. Robert said he is always present and listening to his clerk telling everyone about the reason for the cost. But he works in the back and wasn't there when my fiancée and Tristan interacted. So, Robert B. was wrong there too. He is obviously and apparently only about money, as I found out the cost for the catalytic converter would be over $4000 just to pass emissions, and he doesn't honor the word of his customers, essentially calling them dishonest. My fiancée was hurt by this interaction. The customer service is horrible and very shady. That's not the way to treat a customer, and furthermore, my fiancée and I spoke to someone knowledgeable about cars, and we found out Stang was trying to "rip us off." I don't recommend this company. stang used to be top-notch. been a customer for 15+years. recommended them to my friends. but the last year or two have taken a sad turn. they don't communicate results of inspections anymore. they actually don't even call you when they're done working on your car anymore. the last straw was when they lost the master cylinder cap and used a piece of plastic and rubber band as a "bandaid" for the week it took to get a replacement. I've had two oil changes with Stang on my Honda CR-V. It has low mileage, but it is an older car. At the second oil change I requested that they address the deferred maintenance identified at the first oil change (fuel injection system service, repairing a leak, and replacing a serpentine belt). I was very pleasantly surprised when they called - the last two repairs were unecessary at this time. The leak is very small. They took the belt off and inspected it but it did not need to be replaced yet. They took pictures of both of these items so they can track them in future. Stang is great. We've been taking all our cars here for years (10 plus). They take a bit of time to do an oil change, so we don't do simple oil changes here often. But anything serious other than an oil change I wouldn't trust anyone else. Kyle really cares and is reliable, and knows his business. We've had them change the transmission in one car, brakes on another, a new fuel tank on two cars. They are always reliable and do a good quality job with no repeat issues. If I ran my business like that I would not be able to sleep at night!!!!! So its been a little under 3 weeks since I got my truck back from the next mechanic and WOW Stang!!!!!!! My supposed restricted catalytic converter which my wife was quoted over the phone at well over $1,000 and it was a very cheap sensor!!!!!!! But here's my main issue, the next mechanic tells me that two of my fuel lines were not connected correctly! That's what Stang told me and said they fixed it. So who's right and who put it together wrong? I understand there is two sides to every story but who should I believe the shop who over charged me and my truck ran horribly for less than 5 days. Or the shop who fixed the problem completely and replace my sensor so I could passed emissions, for about half the cost! Even with extra work done and a tow of over 4 x the distance more then the tow I had Stang do!!!! I'm going with in the one I don't feel ROBBED ME and I'm so unsure of Stang's work now that I've had other mechanics go over anything they touched on my S10 & Yukon!!! In all I feel that I should mention Stang did call and sent an invoice to my home. Also need to mention when I picked up my truck I was warned about backyard mechanics!!! That whole shop had thought the last person to work on that truck was a backyard mechanic. At this point Stang we are just completely disgusted with your poor work and poor business ethics. 1 star for the men who represent the place. I took my car there several times, the bill was always super expensive for the work they have done. $90.00 to change spark plugs! They are the only garage I know of that charges a "diagonostic fee" even when they know what the problem is. They knew my air conditioner needed to be recharged. I always take care of my car, I want it to last so I keep up on things, the last oil change I had the report came back with many many things that needed to be repaired. I took my car to a person who is non-biased and who was kind enough to show me everything on the list that needed "repairs". Every item was OK the way it was. They claimed the front crank shaft was leaking oil. The area was so dry there were cob webs there. Bottom Line this garage recommends things that do not need to be repaired or changed. read more

This place seemed to charge me more because I am a woman. I really feel SEXISM played a role in what they estimated my price to be. They charged me $200 for a diagnostic test and tried to charge me $900 for new spark plugs and a new battery saying the spark plugs were the reason my car wouldn't start. They refused to refund me due to a diagnostic estimate that was INACCURATE. The new battery fixed the problem. Read more below to understand the whole story. DO NOT GO HERE especially if you are a woman. This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a auto company. AAA recommended them and I will be reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. On Monday, I was leaving for work, and my car was parked in my garage and would not start. I had a suspicion it was the batter due to the car screen turning on for a second when I turned on the car and the car cranking. I called AAA to come and check my battery which I assumed I could replace quickly and be on my way. AAA found that my battery indeed failed but suspected it was something more than just the battery. The AAA guy recommended this place saying it was rated #1 in the state. I agreed and later I called Stang Auto Tech and let them know what happened and also mentioned I need it to be the cheapest way to fix my car because I am getting a new vehicle soon and do not want to put anymore more into a vehicle that was already considered totaled due to hail damage and has 140,000 miles on it. They said they understood and let me know they wouldn't be able to look at it until Tuesday. I had to call out of work due to lack of transportation. Tuesday came and went and no one from this place called me. So, I called them. They said they couldn't get to it until Wednesday. On Wednesday I get a diagnostic review (this cost me $200) stating my car was flooded due to spark plugs being old which is why my car wasn't working. That was the main problem that needed to be fix. They also mentioned the battery failed but said the main problem was the spark plugs and quoted me $900 for installing spark plugs and a new battery!!!! However, spark plugs are never a reason that a car won't start, but a failed battery is. So I told them no and I would tow it to Autozone to get a new battery and see how that works. Then they called me back saying my car started but it wouldn't last long. I towed it to an Autozone tried to start the car before a battery was installed- it started, but it cranked for a while before it started. After Autozone put in a new battery, they also told me bad spark plugs will make the car run rough but will never be a reason for a car not to start. The new battery fixed the problem and my car is starting with no cranking. I have had no issues with the spark plugs since and I am suspecting this will last me until I get my new truck. Basically, I spent $400 on a battery ($200 on a diagnostic test and $150 at Autozone for a battery). Stang Auto Tech is awful and most of the team members are related so they also back the others story no matter how wrong it is. I spoke with the owner and I explained I have been to a lot of great auto tech places that are honest about the cheapest way to get by especially when it comes to working on a car that is about to be junked. Robert was rude and when I asked for a refund he told me no- I told him I would be writing him a review stating my opinion and he told me in his words I was "Holding him hostage" for saying I would be writing him a review on how I feel he overcharged me due to my gender. He was rude and took no ownership in the mistakes his technician Kyle made (also his son). I did not get my money back for the diagnostic and his recommendations were overpriced an inaccurate.
