We had them come out to clean the cloth seats on our dinning room chairs. Years of stains from food and people leaving stains behind. Twenty two years of stains. We also had them clean our patio set. The young man who came out was tidy, clean cut, polite and worked hard getting the stains out. He tried every stain remover. His last remover he called it a brown stain remover. After application he said he had used everything he could on one chair he didn't think it would come out. But he did let us know that as it dried the stain could disappear a bit more. The great news is that by the time it did dry...THE STAIN was OUT!!!!! I know this review is a bit late but surgeries got in the way. The Stanley Steamer at 1513 14th St NW Auburn WA. Carpets look worse than before the cleaning. I now have dark stains everywhere. I paid them to make my carpets look better and that didn't happen by a long shot. It looks so embarrassing and gross. They came out a 2nd time and the carpets turned out even worse again. They now blame it on stains below the surface. Their machines apparently pulled up stains from below, but then couldn't remove them from the surface? After the second cleaning, they warned me that a couple small stains might come back after drying, but those and new ones showed up. They offered to come out a third time but couldn't promise anything, but I fear it will look worse again. They refuse to refund me. 4/18/25. Terrible service. The work order stated I needed a portable cleaner, and given a window of between 12 and 6 PM ( which itself is ridiculous). Around 3 PM a cleaner showed up without the portable cleaner. He left and said he would call the company to get a portable to me and was told a cleaner would arrive by 4 PM. Shortly after that I received a phone call stating they couldn't send anybody out today. I stated very clearly I wanted service today, but was told they couldn't arrange that. I am an 80 year old woman and it is difficult and time consuming to move all the items off the carpet so the cleaner has access to all the carpet. I did not want to have to replace everything and then have to do it all over again. I refused to reschedule for another day and would never recommend Stanley Steemer. They called me 2 hours into the window of time and told me they couldn't find my address... then I got a text showing where my technician is.. the technician was in Texas, I live in Washington State. Then I got another call 30 minutes later by a lady saying that they had listed my address as Austin, TX.. and because of THEIR mistake, the quote increased by over $200... and they were going to be later than the guaranteed window. We asked her if she could honor the price since we had moved around our schedules and furniture for this.. she said no. Because TX pricing is different. This was not our fault. I gave our address completely... The pricing should have been honored. If I could give a zero stars I would. Massively disappointed. Going with a different company. Stanley Steamer. I am updating my home with new floors and wanted to get my couch and loveseat cleaned on Monday, October 7, 2022. I called my local Stanley Steamer and set up an appointment for both on my day off. Was told it would be between 8 am and 1 pm. Not a word as to an estimated time of arrival until 12:45 pm and was told the serviceman was running late. He arrived a couple of hours later and told me the couches were too old and not worth the time to clean and he also attempted to sell me carpet cleaning services, which I didn't need since I am replacing the flooring in two weeks. I hired SS to clean my carpets. After the technician had left we noticed he had stolen my wife's purse. We contacted the manager, made a complaint and were told they would handle this internally. When I told him the technician had committed theft and burglary-both felonies-and asked how they were going to make this right the manager, Anthony, told me they weren't. I have now filed a report with Tacoma police. I was told Wolf's cleaning is a good alternative-at least they won't steal from you. Horrible and deplorable come to mind. read more

Hired them to clean my carpets before my moving out and having tenants move in. They said they would be here between 12-6. At some point during the moving process my house phone got disconnected. Once I realized this, I called to explain that my phone got disconnected and give them my cell number. The extremely rude woman on the phone told me it was too late and they canceled the job. I would understand except that they DID NOT inform me that they would call before coming and would cancel my job if I did not answer. This review has to do with the driver of truck number 509 on 9/29/2020. At 12:45pm on this Tuesday, driver of truck 509 was leaving University Place and turning South onto Bridgeport Way heading towards Lakewood. The driver was in the inside lane, two lanes are able to turn left / southbound. I was behind the Stanley Steemer truck. As the light turned green and the driver turned, he/she swung out wide into the far lane almost taking out a small Kia Rio. Driver did not care or appear to ever become aware that their crappy driving made the Kia go into the bike lane and up onto the curb to avoid being side swiped. I schedule SS for grout color sealant. Was scheduled with a 11-2pm window and made arrangements at work. At 930, I got a text saying they were 20 minutes away! I had to alter my plans to rush home, only to wait until 11:20 when they showed up. The gentlemen were very polite. They had only a handful of color choices which was different than I was told on the phone. I picked the one that worked band was told it would be 2 hours before I could come home and walk in the floor (similar to what I was told on the phone). I took my dog for a couple errands and a walk and came back 2 hours later only to be told they needed another hour and that it would be 2 more hours before dry. I was shocked and frustrated. I left again. When I did return at 4 pm it was clearly still wet and the grout material extended onto most of the tiles and would be a mess to clean. I had to purchase a special cleaner and will be on my knees for an extended period this week. The only good thing that happened was when I reported all of this to them, they gave me half of my money back. They cleaned approximately 1800 sq feet and they were in and out in an hour and five minutes! They did not clean the grout like they advertise on their website and the tile floors look absolutely horrible!! Our stairs were soak and wet six hours after they left! We were up for hours with beach towels trying to soak up the water on the stairs!! The next day it was still soaked, so we borrowed a shop vac to vacuum up the excess water! The stairs were still damp 30 hours later. I called to complain about their service and was given one excuse after another! They stated I should have inspected the work before letting them leave (which was impossible, because the floors were wet). AND.... THEY WANTED TO SEND SOMEONE ELSE OUT TO FIX THE MESS!! I was so upset with this experience and their service that I cancelled my check for $863.91. Now, they are threatening to send it to collection!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I REPEAT..... The cost for one room to be cleaned and the deoderized has been $108.54. Today my charge was $154.04 due to a stated increase in their prices! Scheduled for 12pm-6pm on Nov 11, 2021. They got here too early (11:20 am). I had just got out of shower & wasn't ready for them yet. No call prior to arriving. Ringing doorbell & pounding on the door. Also, the on line rates indicated 2 room (less than 400 sq ft would be $139). My house is very small & the total square footage to clean was only 300 sq ft. But since it was more than 2 bedroom they ended up charging me $100 more! It only took them 15 minutes to do my whole area of 300 sq ft. They just did a small living room space & around the beds & hallway. They didn't move any furniture. They didn't even move a small 2'x1' sewing basket on the floor, just shampoo'd around it! We get our carpets cleaned on a yearly basis and this time I tried saving money by renting a commercial carpet cleaning machine ($41 for a day). I ended up renting two different machines because the first one was defective at the first rental place as it left Zebra stripes (I got my money back), and the second rental place and machine left large yellowish residue spots after the carpet dried. I had used Stanley Steemer the previous year and so called them again to come rescue us. Carlos M. and Mark D. showed up (Tacoma #53) -- looked over the situation and said they could clean it up. They certainly did! The quality of "clean" has never looked better (even better than the last time SS did the carpets and we're talking about 21 year old thick pile carpet and Berber, two kids and a dog.) Mark made the comment that they are rated one of the top cleaning teams for quality and after seeing our dried out and "like new" carpets, I agree with their comment. Awesome quality! (It became very obvious Carlos and Mark worked hard as both worked up a sweat switching off in steam-cleaning the carpets.) Note: I now know that rug cleaner solutions and sprays you buy in the store end up leaving stains and Stanley's citrus steam cleaner does not. John S read more

However, I've used them several times now and they are professional, do a great job, and you can schedule an appointment with them extremely easily as they have a call center that will answer pretty much 24 hours a day. I was very disappointed in the cleaning job that they did to my carpets. The main guy doing all the steam cleaning was bragging that it was only going to take about 20-40 minutes to do the entire house and that he had completed 6 jobs that day. He did NOT spend enough time to get it done right. I had to ask him to do redo a high traffic section of a carpet that was obviously not very clean. He recleaned it, but didn't say a single word to me. A "no problem" or "sure thing" would be been appreciated. I will NEVER use them again. Go with a highly rated local carpet cleaning service instead. These guys are all about a quick turn and over priced jobs. The bill was almost $400!! They were also trying to constantly up sell me for optional services and cleaning kits. read more

Stanley Steemer boasts about their excellent customer service, but I have yet to see it. Classic bait and switch tactics and non-responsive to customer feedback. On their website, they advertised the $99 promotion for 2 rooms and a hallway and it was supposedly going to be applied at the time of service. Well the time of service came, and I inquired about the promotion when the cleaners totaled up my charges. They called their manager, Jason Tate, and he informed them that he would not apply the promotion for me because...get this...I booked for a total of 7 rooms, a hallway, and stairs. So basically, I got penalized because I gave them MORE service than the promotion asked for. Talk about BAIT AND SWITCH and lack of customer care. I called Jason directly and left him a voicemail on Saturday. It's now Tuesday, and no sign of life. They obviously just want your money and don't care about their reputation or making the customer happy. Hey, I won't be coming back and neither will any of my friends or family. Save your money and go elsewhere. The only reason I am giving this review two stars is because the two guys who came to clean the carpets were nice and sympathetic. After the initial very poor job of cleaning our carpets I was contacted by customer service (almost a week later) and was told that before they would offer a refund they "wanted the opportunity" to do the job over and see if they could make it right. Stanley Steemer has always been my go-to carpet cleaners, but I've noticed a decrease in quality over the years. This last cleaning was my last with them. Like other reviewers, the carpet just seemed wet, not clean, afterwards. There were still dirty spots, but worse, there were little fuzz balls all over the carpet. Roger Grant, allegedly of Seattle Stanley Steemer, called me to say the technician admitted the poor quality of the patch job of the Tacoma Stanley Steemer and that they could redo the patching and cleaning. He said he wanted a sample of the padding under the carpeting. I said that that would involve opening the patching to get to the padding. I don't live in the home; I rent the home out to a family and would have to notify the family that yet again Stanley Steemer would be coming for their 4th visit. He said they could do the work, but I would have to pay the day of the patching. He threatened that I would have to pay for the patching immediately.... no matter the quality of the work or he would turn it over to collections. If you have a good attorney and if you like to be threatened and shaken down for money for substandard work... Stanley Steemer is your company. read more

I tried three other carpet cleaning companies that used different methods and wasn't completely happy with the results. It felt like the carpet wasn't that much cleaner afterward or it took up to two days for the carpet to dry. I've used Stanley Steemer twice now and both times have been excellent. They arrived on time, the guys were courteous and respectful of my house and pets. They were fast and efficient and never tried to hard sell me on anything. They would mention their specials or promos, but once I said I wasn't interested, that was it. Our carpet seems to get the cleanest with them and it has always dried in less than 24 hours.
