Had a not so good experience. The rate I was quoted on the phone was incorrect according to the lead tech, Luis. The service tech's came in and requoted the job and it was almost double the cost. I had to cancel the hardwood floor cleaning due to the price change. Also the guys did not have all the right tools to do the tile job so I was forced to have only my floors in my bathroom cleaned and then added decided to add a color seal for the grout. They could not do the tub surround and shower because Luis claimed not to have the right tools on the truck. The one guy was working hard in the bathroom while the other one (Luis) was barely working, meandering in various rooms in my house. He refused to help the other guy that was working hard. I felt uneasy with this guy (Luis) in my home. I would not use Stanley Steamer again. read more

Butt dirty carpets givin' you a headache? Well I did, have a headache that is. I have dark creamed colored carpet in the front room, a small hallway and two bedrooms. I called Stanley Steemer to clean the carpets twice a year because I don't own a steam cleaner nor do I intend on buying one since I live in an apartment with minimal storage space. Two gentlemen came the first time and were very courteous. I moved almost all of the light furniture and toys out of the front room. They place the sofas and tables on little foam blocks so the underneath would dry (takes about 8-12 hrs to fully dry). At the time I only had the front room cleaned because I was unsure if they considered a 6x5 patch on carpet a hallway. I ask the men about the cost but they couldn't answer my questions, whata' you goina' do? They talked about cleaning the upholstery then asked if I would like to see a demonstration kitchen tile cleaning. I declined but I'm sure corporate wanted them to ask. They weren't persistent about it which I liked. The second time, two new gentleman came and were just as professional as the previous men. After they did the front room they asked about the hallway and bedrooms. I asked for a price quote and if they could work around the furniture (bed, nightstands, dressers...). "No problem" . They helped me move some items out of the rooms and did their thing. Since they didn't do the whole room they charged me the same price as a hallway. They not only cleaned the carpet but deodorized and protected it. These guys were awesome. During the cleaning I could see how dirty the carpets were and what a difference steam cleaning made. Obviously something I could never accomplish vacuum cleaning alone. My neighbor saw the van and asked about the service and prices. She was so impressed that she called for an appointment too. She had nothing but praises for them as well. I've also noticed other vans around the neighborhood. Apparently the word is getting out about this company. Maybe I started a trend? Take a look at the website for specials that would apply to you area. You could get an extra 10% off your services. I highly recommend Stanley Steemer. read more

I've used SS over TEN times since 2009 and as I'm looking through our account history it is apparent that their pricing is VERY inconsistent (did we REALLY pay over $1,200 in Dec 2013?!?) among other things. I booked online and made it a point to tell the serviceman who came out last week I DO NOT WANT TO GO OVER $600. I know what I want and don't want to be sold!!! He insisted we hadn't had a cleaning in two years and tried to sell me more protection (yet online history confirms we not only had two cleanings done in 2014, but we also paid for a quarterly service in advance which he also tried to sell me on). He played on the whole "you know, kids... they spill and dirty", etc. (we may have white carpeting throughout, but my children know to eat in the kitchen or dining room ONLY, thank you). This time around I refused to budge when he incessantly continued to try and upsell me, but he found a way. I was told the 9x12 rug in the carpeted living would be an additional ** $96 **. Yet the last half a dozen times we've had that area cleaned it was ALWAYS charged as a room because they included the carpeted perimeter. I was irritated and told him it was always just charged as a room, but agreed to the additional charge as I am expecting my fourth child any week now and it just need to get DONE. Well, not only was it a ** $108 ** charge for the rug, but they charged that same area as one room, as well. If that was the case, the rug should have been lifted and the ENTIRE CARPET should have been cleaned, too! It later dawned on me that we also have a 5x7 rug in the carpeted nursery, but I guess since his partner cleaned that area he didn't have the opportunity to charge me for that one, as well. Furthermore, sthe pillows on our sectional in the family room and sofa in the living were not cleaned. The've always been included in the past, as well, but now it looks like I'll have to remove the covers and throw them in the wash. That said, we have our carpets cleaned biannually and have spent upwards of 4K for service in the last 5 years with minimal issue, but it takes just one person to garner a one-star review and the loss of future business (we own six properties, by the way). It was a Friday evening and didn't want to deal with trying to rectify this with anyone over the phone. I will no longer be using SS. read more

I have used Stanley Steemer four times in the last two years. Unfortunately, results are purely dependent on the crew they send. The first time I used them, they did an outstanding job. Second time, acceptable, but not impressed. Third time, lousy. This past week, impressive. And again, unfortunately, you are not able to request a specific crew. They send who they want to send. I tried to contact the regional manager, to suggest they do allow us to request a specific crew, but they do not make it simple to give feedback. Pricing is competitive. Had it done for slightly less, but had quotes for a LOT more. Next time, I will give them a choice. Send the last crew, or you won't get my business. I'll let you know in six months! read more

VERY Disappointing service. They were in and out quickly and there's dirt everywhere. No attention to detail, edges are dirty (visibly). Doesn't seem like anything was vacuumed up. There's an icky smell as well, and I don't even know what to call it. *I've called to have this work re-done and will follow up after they come back. $2,683.00 later it should be spotless and it's not. read more

I had a sectional couch cleaned recently. The techs came on time and were very friendly and knowledgeable with their job. They up-sold me on having my rug cleaned and then added the deodorizer. In the end, the technicians were here for less than an hour. My couch was somewhat clean but not $500 worth of clean. I felt a bit ripped off. I don't think I'll use the service again. I rented a rug doctor and cleaned it myself and it seemed a bit cleaner than what Stanley Steemer did for me. So in conclusion, save your money and do it yourself. read more

I received quote from Stanley Steemer to have 2 rooms (family room, master bedroom) 1 hall and 1 set of stairs cleaned. The quote was: $168.00. There is a special for 2 room cleaning for $126.00. Technician came and my complaint is not with the work he did. He asked me if I wanted deodorizer and I said no. He explained that it helps with any residue bacteria in carpet and I said ok. Completion of job he shows me the bill...$323.00. I showed him my printed bill and he said that he added the deodorizer...$100.00. That still did not explain the original quote of $168.00. I paid and received a survey which I explained the difference in price from the original quote. Haven't heard back yet. Buyer beware! This is a lot of money for a senior on a fixed income. I will never use this company again. There is no excuse for scamming a customer. Beware of their online quotes and get it in writing from the start before the job is done. read more

I used Stanley Steemer for the first time this past weekend and my three bedrooms and 2 large area rugs look pretty good. My husband and I usually rent a machine every Spring/Summer to give our carpets a good cleaning we have 2 dogs and living in Chicago and the weather doesn't help. We wipe their paws the best we could but a cleaning once a year is necessary. We opted to call a service this year because my husband just has not had the time due to being extremely busy at work. We are happy with the cleaning however they do try to up charge and sell you a bunch of unnecessary add-ons once they are in your home and once they start cleaning. For example a large area rug in my basement which was quoted $80.00 to clean he was trying to sell me the deodorizer for $40.00 up charge it was just not needed. I had to say no to extra stuff like 5 times which is just annoying but I get it because it benefits them to sell more. Two guys came one did all the work and the other one just stood there, literally. My rugs do look good so I am happy. read more

I would prefer two people as it goes quicker & I was tired as the appointment was from 4:30-7pm. Tried to book online but when I tried to enter my phone number it would not take. So I called and the gal was friendly, but did not send me an email to confirm appointment. I've used SS for years & with the deodorizer & protector it really is worth it. They took my four custom area rugs off site for cleaning and they were cleaned beautifully. They were able to get out tough stains. Their off-site cleaning is a little pricey but well worth the cost. The two men who returned them were very respectful of my new wood floors. I also had Stanley Steemer clean and whiten the grout around my kitchen porcelain tile flooring. We reached out to them because of the popular name and we needed quick service for carpet cleaning and for our couches. I was present for the entire service appointment and was extremely disappointed and annoyed. All they did was spray something on a couple of stained areas, put cold water on the carpet and couches and vacuum it up...my child could have done that... Definitely feel scammed. Stanley Steemer contacted me immediately after reading my 2-star review on their recent services such as cleaning and deodorizing two reclining chars and four dining chairs with upholstered seats and backs. SS offered its cleaning services in our house for free to our full satisfaction. They scheduled a free visit. The technician arrived at the convenient day and time and finished cleaning the backs of our dining chairs. The technician took thorough precautions to protect the paint on the doors, walls, furniture, and floor finish although he knew that he came for a short visit. Deodorizing was not done neither on recliners nor on dining chairs, although it was included into the scheduling notice. Was it my job to keep track on job and keep reminding what has not been done properly during the first cleaning? Anyway, the backs of the dining chairs look much cleaner now. We admit that Stanley Steemer company is very responsive and took effort to satisfy us, their customers. read more

We called stanley steener to get our carpets cleaned in preperation for selling our home. After the consult we upgraded to the pet and sanitizer option. We let them do their thing and left the home. upon returning the carpets were in no better shape then they were before the cleaning and there was a HORRIBLE chemical smell. I think they lifted the grime from the padding and didnt extract it properly. We also came to find several power drills were missing from the garage that were located directly where the water spicket was. we did file a police report and are waiting for the results. when i tried to talk to the manager he was rude and would not talk to me. It took them 7 hours to finally get to my condo and clean 1 bedroom. The two workers did an ok job. Very expensive for the service and quality of work. My issue is with their customer service or dispatch as they call it. First they sent the wrong truck and was told multiple times that they would call me and keep me up to date after calling their headquarters who communicates directly with the local office. Are you kidding me?? Crappiest job evar! Evar!!!! We moved last year and called Stanley Steemer to clean all the carpets in the house before we moved all our furniture in. We set up the appointment, and prepaid. Our landlord agreed to let the carpet cleaners into the house for us, as we were living a couple hours away. Well, the carpet cleaners got there and were as rude as can be! Our landlord called us all upset, saying that the cleaners were insisting that he pay for it, and yelling at him, and generally being really disrespectful. After talking this over with the cleaners, we finally got them to call their office and get the info that we had already paid for it. But apparently they weren't done with their crappy attitude, because they were still being rude to our landlord, even after the problem was cleared up. When we moved in a few days later, it didn't look like much had been done, and I was kinda surprised, seeing as it had cost us $400 to do our living room, small dining room, and a small flight of stairs! Well, a week ago we rented a Rug Doctor and did out carpets ourselves, which is when I came to realize just what a shitty job Stanley Steemer had done previously. It cost $50 to rent the Rug Doctor and purchase the cleaning solution, and our carpets look brand new! I don't understand how Stanley Steemer couldn't accomplish this, especially since we shelled out so much for the job. I feel like they just came in and sprayed some stuff on our carpets and left. I went online last night, did an online estimate, saved 10% for booking the appointment myself, they are not the cheapest but also far from the most expensive. I booked the 9am-Noon time slot, they called at 9:30am saying the crew was on its way. Arrived at 10am, left at 1pmish, big job, did a great job, no upselling, very professional, well educated, I am extremely happy with their work and quality of their crew. My carpet looks worse. There are spots in places that were not there before Stanley cleaned them. And the spots that were there are darker and more prevalent. When I called to have them come back out to fix I was told my the corporate offices that the local Palatine IL office refused to come out unless I paid for another cleaning. Called the 800 number, so I'm not sure where these guys came from. I was given a window of time to expect them. They called about 1/2 hour early saying they were on their way, which worked out fine. It took about an hour to do my two small rooms and a hall. The carpeting was pretty wet when they left. and was dry 12 hours later. About 2 minutes after they left, I got an automated phone message thanking me for my business. I didn't care for that. The company is reliable, does good work, and I've got nice clean carpets. FYI - it was $99 to get the carpets cleaned and almost $50 for the stain resistance spray. read more

Stanley Steemer did a great job of getting my rugs looking new again. It had been a few years since they were here and I was concerned if some of the deeper stains that I hadn't been able to remove myself, would come out. They did! It was done about 36 hrs ago and the rug is bouncier and looks and feels like new again. One of the two men had a bristle brush that he went around each room with and cleaned the baseboards and the narrow space between the rug and wall, moving all that dust out to the center of the carpet for cleaning up. The two men were very courteous and nice, even happily joking around with my grandmothers friend who stopped by. They got almost all the stains out that we have been trying for years to get out with many different products and methods (including rug doctor and our own carpet steamer). The price was above what I was quoted but understandable considering that I forgot to add the stairs into the quote and we had quite a lot of stains in one area. It was amazing to see the difference afterwards. I even set up an appointment for the end of the month to get my air ducts cleaned by them as well. I did shop around and Stanley steemer was about the same as many of the other companies buy had the reputation of being good. read more

Carpets and sofas look much better after than before cleaning, which had not been cleaned in many many years. Stanley Steemer pays their cleaners a percentage of total days sales per truck, thus there is always attempts to up sale and complete quickly. I recommend managing the work and request slower quality work. The cleaners were professional and willing to do the job as I requested. Note: carpets took from two to four days to dry throughly with fans running. This is important to keep fans running so the carpets are dry and any wet carpet smells are eliminated. read more

The people from Stanley Steemer do push their product and ask to do more areas than you might have originally ordered but you can say no. Worst carpet cleaning job I have ever had! Pet stains still in carpet. Surface feels sticky.

We just bought a house and wanted to clean up the carpets. Thier website listed hardwood floor refinishing too, so we called and requested an estimate. The price for cleaning up the carpet sounded good but they couldn't do an estimate on the refinishing but offer a sample so we can see for ourselves how good it'll be and then the crew will be able to quote us on site. They did arrive on time but told us they only did cleaning not refinishing. They guy tried to convince us that cleaning was the only thing we could do with our floor. The problem we have is that the people living there before us had a large area run in the living room and the color of the floor under the area run hasn't bleached from the sun so it looks discolored. Anyways, they did a sample clean up of the hardwood floor and not what we were looking for. They did clean up the carpets but couldn't get all the stains out. Really, the job they did it's no diferent from what you can do if you rent one of those carpet cleaning machines. Not really satisfied with their service. read more

Stanley Steamer: Just too many strikes against this carpet cleaning service to give them any better than a 1 star. Don't be fooled by the $99 advertising. If your cleaning the carpet in your treehouse then it might apply. I had my family room and basement rec room done and it was $550. They push add ons and imply if you don't get them you won't be happy with the result. Literally over a $100 Just for them to use a pump sprayer as if you were sprayer weed killer on your carpet. They say it's necessary to protect your carpet. After the cleaning there were spots that appeared and they told me sometimes cleaning brings them to the surface? Not only does the carpet look worse than before but they never even followed up to see if we were satisfied with their cleaning.
