Stanley Steemer proved to be the worst Carpet Cleaning Service I have ever dealt with. We hired them to clean a commercial carpet which by the way was not cleaned to our satisfaction. The high traffic areas was still dirty. I called them again for another quote for a upstairs carpet and tile steaming of two stairways. They came on the scheduled day to tell me I was misquoted. I accepted the revised quote yet they could not do the job because they did not have the correct equipment to do the stairs. They agreed to come back on the following day to do the job. Instead they came Back the next day to let us know that the job would now cost us over $1000. What type of business practice is this???? I will never use Stanley Steemer again and will let other people know not to use them. read more

I've been using this particular Stanley Steemer location for 5 years --I get my carpets cleaned annually, or more often if needed. I trust them. They do a good job, they are professional, and the management has always been very generous when dealing with me and my carpet cleaning agreements. The only part that is not so great is that the hoses, as you can imagine, are a little dirty, so I have to cover up my wood floors or clean them later after the guys go. Would be nice if they could clean their hoses daily or at least every other day before taking them into peoples' houses. My carpet and house are cleaner than usual, so it makes a difference to me if the hose is tracking in grit. Anyway, I've developed a system to deal with this, and I would call it a minor annoyance. More importantly, I have a white to light cream colored carpet. I have had spills and stains, but I am amazed at how they blot right up and come out with the protectorant on my carpet. Also, the spot cleaner they sell is the only thing I use--it works the best of anything I've ever used. My white carpet has suffered ground in blueberries, spilled coffee, a massive nosebleed, and a couple of years of pre-toilet training accidents (of both types), as well as the effects of all sorts of gastrointestinal bugs. After 5 years of this, there are ZERO stains on the carpet. It looks brand new. I take care of it, but the protectorant keeps stains from setting in, the periodic steam cleaning gets dirt out, and the spot cleaner takes care of the rest. I would be hard pressed to use anyone else. If you have a light colored carpet that you want to really protect, I can vouch for the effectiveness of the protectorant. read more

I was on vacation and came home to hear that my puppy had been sick ALL over our living room and hallway carpets. I called Stanley Steemer in a panic and not only was the woman so nice, she actually got me an appt. within 3 hours of my call!!! The technicians showed up and were courteous, polite, knowledgeable, professional and got the job done in less than a half an hour. Let me say, that there was one spot we never thought would come out and they managed to make it look brand new!! I am thrilled with the service and will most definitely use them in the future. Be careful about trying to take advantage of Stanley Steemer promotional e-mail offers! I was disappointed when, after moving furniture around in preparation to have my carpets cleaned, the technicians arrived and told me the deal wasn't what it was promised to be. Guess I'll think twice before using this company again. I posted this review on their Facebook page and they asked me to send the details of my complaint via private message. Wish I could give them zero stars based on their terrible customer service. The one guy kept asking me if I wanted to add all these additional services after I had already declined them. I have two couches, four dining chairs and my basement hardwood floor cleaned. the furniture turned out very nicely but the hardwood not so much. I have nothing but good things to say about Stanley Steemer! I was able to easily schedule my appointment online and see pricing up front. I was pleasantly surprised that they were able to come out in just a few days. The price for a staircase and one room of carpet was extremely reasonable. They called about 30 minutes before the crew arrived to let me know they were on their way. The carpet was cleaned quickly and efficiently. They offered more services but did not push too hard or try up-sell. The gentleman who performed the services was polite and professional. I will definitely be using this service again. read more

I've have another cleaning company prior to SS and I don't know why I didn't call them. SS totally ruined all of our carpets by over soaking them. Took 3 days to dry and they didn't get out any stains. The house smelled like wet dog which means they didn't sanitize. I wouldn't use them and would not recommended. First time customer with them and I am not impressed. I just bought a town home and a ten years old carpet need to be clean. The most obvious thing that I would like them to clean are the "Filtration Soiling" around the edge/wall....aka the black lines around the edge of all carpet/baseboard. This is the 1st home I owned that has carpet but I do not know this term and condition nor how to clean it. They spend 2 hours cleaned the whole house carpet and told me they cannot clean those black line on the edge cause those are created by the dirt from the dirty air duct thru out the years. OK, I understand the cause but they said there is NOTHING they can do about that...it is year 2017 and I cannot believe there are no solution about that....so, I just go ask google and youtube and found out those are called Filtration Soiling and there ARE ways to clean it....they don't even bother to tell me what that is and simply told my wife nothing they can do....I will call the "professional" and clean it....I don't expect it will be 100% cleaned but I know someone will at least to make a little different. My carpets were cream colored and very worn / dirty. I need to replace my carpets, but wanted to at least get them cleaner. Wow, they look fantastick and I am very pleased with the outcome. The crew arrived on time and were very professional! They moved my furniture back and were very diligent to inform me of the spots that they would not be able to remove (to NO fault of their own). Do not use Stanley Steemer of Palatine!! One of the men who came to clean my carpets went in my teenage daughter's room and made small talk with her. Then he asked her if she had a Tango account. When she said no, he asked for her phone number so he could tell her about it. His name is Matthew and he is Nigerian. He looked to be at least twice as old as my teenage daughter. When I called to report this to Torwah, the branch manager, he was very casual, unapologetic, and told me that Matthew denied it. And that was it. He told me that I could take whatever next steps I felt like I needed to take. So here I am, with my first yelp review. These guys are pathetic!! They come into my home, used my laundry connections and did not put them back the way they were. My girlfriend started the washer the next day to do cloths and our laundry room and entrance way from the kitchen were flooded. I called them , they came out and ran a dryer on it for 2 days and disappeared !! Now I have flooring rolling up and they keep hiding from me and making me have to hunt them down. They haven't done a single thing they said they would and its been 90 days and still nothing is done. Never Ever use these losers. read more

Horrible! The technicians took forever to set up. They tried to upsell their services, $800 for carpet cleaning, seriously! Then I gave them a tip in a check and the technician asked me for cash instead. On top of it, they lost my check to pay for the service, did a awful job on my couch, it still has stains. Lock up your valuables before you hire this company! During routine carpet cleaning, the two characters who were here stole over $5,000 worth of jewelry, which was in a room they were NOT to clean and the door was shut! The district manager was of no help whatsoever, other than admitting the company sometimes hires extra help during their busy season. So what? He is still responsible for the people he hires! The local police department is still investigating and has brought the two Stanley Steemer crew members in for questioning. read more

The person who booked our carpet cleaning on the phone did not ask any questions and only scheduled the service. When the men arrived, they would not service the carpet because our wall to wall was not tacked down enough. They tried to up the quoted price with additional add on product and service and when we would only pay for the job that was quoted the man said he could not do our carpets and left. When the 3 hours came and went I called them to find out what the situation was to only be told that they were backed up and needed to reschedule it for another day. I could not believe it what terrible customer service to keep customers waiting only to cancel.....I made an appointment with Good Guys which overall is hands down more professional on every level than this company. I made an appt online for carpet and tile cleaning for most of my 2,000 sq ft house, and a day later i can't tell they've ever been here ($770??) Many upsells. Tile grout still dirty. Carpet looks grey. They said it would "brighten up" when it dried ("give it 12 hours") and it's 36 hours later and looks dirty. Also where they cleaned carpet, the white trim is all schmugged up and will need to be touched up...thanks for the errand...I have had carpets cleaned by Sears and others in the past and would not use SS again based on this experience. I don't really see a cleaner carpet than i started with. Also required me to write a check bc his tablet "wasn't working right". read more

If I could give them a Zero I would. Guy calls me 3 hours before my scheduled appointment and says they are on their way. I told him I was still at work and the appointment was not till 3 hours from then. He replied we don't guarantee a time. Well that's not what the guy I set the appointment up with said. I hung up with him and called "On Your Spots" By far the best carpet cleaning job I have had in every move I made in the military. If you want somebody that will do you right call ON YOUR SPOTS but if you want a no guarantee go ahead and go with Stanley steemer. read more

I called around to a few carpet cleaners and was given a range of pricing for my 2 small room apt wall to wall carpet and a small couch. Stanley Steemer was on the higher side of these but I had faith in their name and felt assured they would be forthright and efficient. I booked online and was quoted $150 and told they would be here between 11 and 2pm. At 1pm they called to tell me a team was on their way. At 1:30 an associate of theirs arrived and upon walking in told me they would need a portable machine and that he was not equipped with one. In fact he told me each of their locations in equipped with only 1 portable machine. I live on the second floor of a small walk up condo and despite claims on their web site that their machines can reach second floor level the man assured me that even parked directly out front that their hoses would not reach and that regardless they can't leave a common door to a building ajar. This would have been a nice note to mention in their online booking. Anyone living in a building that is above ground level or requiring a common entrance doorway for entry beware, there is a $55 additional charge for them to use a portable unit and they are short on them so you will have to wait longer for this service. Additionally I was told that I would need a deodorizer since I have a dog. The steaming of the carpets without which will only bring back to life foul odors possibly leading to a pet marking them. $150 and 3 hours I was ok with, and I even kind of expected to pay a bit more if deodorizing was suggested but the difference between a $150 quote and a $240 quote makes a difference to me, as does another hour of waiting for them to arrive. I ended up canceling the service and rescheduling with a small company that doesn't charge a fee for the use of portable equipment and deodorizing is included in the cleaning free of charge. I hate hidden fees. What a waste of time. read more

I had Stanley Steemer come out for air duct cleaning as well as carpets and upholstery. They are wonderful. The techs are courteous and pleasant and very, very clean and meticulous. They were right on time and finished in a reasonable amount of time. Their prices are great and they explained the bill in detail. They asked about extra services before they gave them such as deodorizing and sanitizing. Would totally recommend using them. read more

Unfortunately, the crew that came out to clean my carpets and sectional were pushy and wouldn't leave me alone. I was hounded five times to add services that would have added an additional 600 to my bill. Paid $900 to have two rugs taken away, cleaned, and returned. Crew missed the promised return delivery window and didn't call, it was only after I called them and spent a prolonged period of time on hold that I was informed that both of the rugs were not ready to be returned. This was unsatisfactory and frustrating given I had arranged to be away from work for the delivery. I was also promised a call by a supervisor that never happened. On the new delivery day, the crew went to the incorrect address, and much confusion and additional time on hold with a centralized Stanley Steemer call center ensued. The rugs came back clean, but what it took in terms of effort, hassle, time on hold, inconvenience, all with a surprising level of Stanley Steemer indifference over what was very clearly a significant customer service failure on their part, in my opinion is not worth it. I will look elsewhere the next time I need area rugs cleaned. read more

I did purchase a contract last year and have had them out twice and both times have been great. This last time not so much! There are still spots on the carpeting and the front of some of the stairs are still dirty. The previous crew did get 95% of the spots out and the stairs looked brand new when they left. I am in Carol Stream and use Stanley Steemer. and agree with a previous reviewer's take, their always attempting to up-sell and complete quickly. Also, the carpet always looked cleaner, but not that great. Because of this, I had considered using someone else. But, once again, I went with Stanley Steemer. This time around the young man they sent, Dino, did a fabulous job of cleaning the carpet. He was thorough and did not rush the job. In the future, I will request Dino and only Dino. I hope they keep Dino around for a long time; he is a very good worker. It is obvious to me that how well the job is done depends on the person who does the cleaning. Now I won't wait so long to have them (him) back. read more
