This was my first experience with Stan's. I was at a dead-end trying to get my VW TDI to start. I spoke with Dana on the phone and she was great in getting my information about what was going on with the car and with keeping me up to date. Very patient! The mechanic, Danny, put a lot of work into troubleshooting the issue. He figured out that the fuel filter I installed had a small defect in the rubber gasket at the top. This defect was allowing air to get sucked into the fuel line so that the injectors never got proper fueling. I have to tell you that defect was VERY hard to spot and Danny is amazing in finding that hidden fault and replacing the filter which solved a problem I had been struggling with for weeks! Thank you sir. Next time this DIY guy breaks something Stan's Auto will be first on my list to visit. read more

I would love to be giving Stan's 5 stars, but my experience doesn't justify it. I called them Tuesday morning and got an appointment to bring it in Wednesday morning, which I did. Both when I called and when I dropped off the car, we discussed how I *had* to have the car back on Friday, because that's when my family was coming to visit. At no time did they so much as hint that they couldn't do it. Well, they didn't even look at it until the next week. -2! On top of that, there was the typical unasked-for inspection where they find other things that your car "needs", and which they would be ever-so-happy to fix for you for an additional charge. The problem I brought the car in for (non-working A/C) did get fixed, but I think $900+ for replacing a bad hose and recharging the system is high. The overall high review scores for Stan's are suspect; they are incentivizing people to write 5-star reviews. This skews the score in their favor when compared to shops that aren't doing the same. read more

It is extremely hard to find a good mechanic for any vehicle, especially an RV! But that's finally what happen to us. We took our 2005 Winnebago to stans auto service because we were in a pinch, we were heading home to California and before we even started to climb the mountains we started overheating. We went to a camp ground for the night and seen Stans auto service advertising in the camping flyer, so we gave them a call and spoke with Nick. we told nick all about our situation and he said to come in the next morning at which time they did diagnostics and found our problem, order parts, installed the parts, and had us on the road the same day!!! EDIT: I wanted to update this review. I will leave the original intact so you can see the whole story. TJ called me back after I had the RV home for a day and I let him know the issues I was having. I had wanted to talk to him just to get a rundown of the work that had been done, so I would know where to start with my own work. He was very apologetic and let me know that he would like to have the vehicle back so they could make it right. I told him I had already started working on it, but he he was adamant that they wanted to make it right, even coming out to the house to pick up the RV. I agreed and he came out for it promptly. He kept me informed of their progress, letting me know that they had some success and that they now could get a decent charge from the generator. After experimenting, he found that the charge improved even more with a new battery. I again thanked him and asked what a new battery from them would cost, and it was reasonable without him trying at all to sell me on it. He brought the RV back to the house, went over all the work and testing that was done, as well as the results and I am pleased with what they got done. He did not charge for the additional work, only for the new battery, and I feel that I was treated very well and would not hesitate to go back to Stan's at this point. Moral of the story is "communication". If I had not told them the issues I had, they would not have been able to make it right. I really appreciate TJ and his effort to make things right, and his good work. Thank you to TJ and to Stan's! ORIGINAL: I had an electrical issue with my RV where the coach battery was not being charged by the generator. It would charge from the chassis engine, but not by the generator. I explained the issue to the person checking in vehicles, and then called to again explain the issue to the RV tech, TJ. After the explanation, TJ said he understood and they would start work on it. A few days later I got a call from TJ saying that the RV was fixed an ready for pickup. I went to the shop to pick up the RV and get a run down on what was done. I met TJ and he explained that the battery cut off switch was not on and that they fixed a couple of connections and everything was fine now. Total bill was a few cents over $300. I thanked him, and headed home. Once I was home, I put my volt meter on the battery only to discover that the problem was still there. I was getting a good charge from the vehicle engine, but no charge from the generator. Since I was in the vicinity the next morning, I stopped at Stan's to talk to TJ to get a rundown on what work was done so I would know. I was told TJ was in a meeting. I left my name and number so he could call me back and let them know that the problem was still there. I have not heard a word back. At this point, I can only feel that I have wasted $300. I had hopes that they could resolve the issue, or at least make some headway, but all I got was a $300 and silence. I would not recommend Stan's. read more

I had been having some electrical issues with my Ridgeline. Stan's took care of it and did so quickly and at a reasonable price. The guys are easy to work with and really nice and personable. They have always been a great place to take my vehicles to. I do most of my own work but I don't do electrical, at all. I really like that they send you a text with pictures and video if needed to show what is needed and what they are doing. I've never had them tell me that I needed something that wasn't required. read more

First time was 5 star. I dropped off the truck after waiting two weeks for an appointment at the scheduled time. No call no update two and a half days later. Shane was very condescending and kept telling me I had a loaner to justify the now 5 day job. The weather is 100 degrees outside. I have a truck to paddleboard and was given a Taurus for a loaner. How can I paddleboard for over a week on a Taurus??? The Taurus did not have working ac. I spent 1k less then three weeks ago at stans to be given a loaner with no ac. Zero communication. This place SUCKS!!!!!!!! Bad, Bad , Bad. Stan no longer owns it!!!! But he works there according to Stan Himself. Got an over the phone quote that it would cost around $400 to replace an alternator in my 2002 Ford Focus. Stan said just bring it by and we will look at it. Well we did and 3 days later they call ( sheldon) and said it would cost 650 to replace alternator. Then they had Stan called us he was like well I was wrong in the first price given and stated that the new price also covered 65$ for making sure the problem was not the battery. dUH WE KNEW THAT the battery was only 2 months old. Good news is I found two different places in Fort Collins that would fix it for less than $400. Go anywhere else. read more

I took my truck into have the power steering pump replaced, they didn't clean the residual power steering fluid from engine bay, left hood unlatched, and over tightened the serpentine belt to where it shredded. When I called Shannon tried to deflect all responsibility and claimed the truck was not in perfect condition when I brought it in. I had to take my truck to another shop to have the belt replaced and make sure they didn't screw anything else up. read more

i brought it in because my car dumped red fluid nearby. thought it was the transmission but it was just the power steering line that came disconnected. they charged me $200 diagnostic and tried to charge another $260 to replace the clamp and fluid. super nice people but ridiculous prices. ended up driving it out of there to a cheaper place. read more

Wouldn't take an RV/truck/car or anything else with a motor here if my life depended on it. The only thing you want from a service mechanic is honesty, fairness, and an ability to trust that they aren't charging you more for repairs that aren't necessary. They told me I needed $3,100+ in service--not including parts for the brakes--for an RV that realistically only needed new tires and a new front brake caliper and then charged $500 ($200 just for the "inspection") and all they did was to grease the leveling jacks and generator service. Some shops make money because they're efficient, fair and you know they won't overcharge--Stan's Auto isn't that kind of shop. read more

I had a starter replace! Cost me $936.00! Instead of paying for material and labor they said there were extra charges! Those were over $100.00. They also said that I needed to have brakes! Little did they know I just had brakes replaced three weeks ago by Brakes Plus! If that wasn't enough the technician placed his hand on the timing belt cover and suggest I replaced it! I agree with the previous review in that I was suprised to hear them ask for a 5 star review, however my experience was a 5 star so I am happy to post that and in the future get a discount on my oil change. David responded quickly and when I got there I was greeted and Kermit gave me a ride home. My brakes ended up being OK for now even though I was prepared to spend an additional 800 to get them replaced and my engine was not as bad as I thought. They could have ripped me off and charged me for all other issues but they didn't and I appreciate it as I've been saving up to repair all of those issues. read more

Recently they spent time with my son helping him understand where the car was at and what kind of service and care it would need to last. Not honest. Preformed work directed not to. Some items charged for were not preformed (grease) fittings were not touched when looked at.

I have been ripped off by Stan's twice now... Ugh such a shady place. First time was when I had a car totaled. Stan's was called by the police and the car was taken to their impound lot. I tried to get them to take it to my house but they said it would be $150 cash on the spot or they were taking it to impound. It sat at their impound lot for 3 business days before they would let me get my stuff out of it as they wouldn't let me get anything out of it after the accident. When I went to the impound lot I was going to try to take my expensive pioneer radio, My air intake, and a few other things out of the car but they told me that if I did that I would have to PAY THEM for those parts as they now "owned" The car and I only had 10 minutes with the car to get my possessions out of it. NEXT My mom's truck died in a snow storm. She didn't know what to do so she called for a tow truck. Stan's came and told her it was either $60 to tow it to their shop to be fixed or $85 to tow it to her house. She figured she would have it fixed there since it sounded convenient so she towed it there. The next day we talked to Stan's and they had come up with a $480 bill for repairing the truck and they said they would graciously waive the towing fee if we had them fix it. I called my normal mechanic who said that the parts to fix it were $77 and it would take 1.5 hours labor so a grand total of $233 to fix. We decided we were just going to flat tow it over to our usual mechanic so we showed up at Stan's and they gave us a bill for an $85 towing fee plus a $65 diagnostic fee because they had already looked at the vehicle. We told them that we were told the towing would be $60 by the driver and after a few min of arguing they brought it down to $65. I understand that a place has to make money but we never agreed to a diagnostic fee, and I am not even sure why there would need to be one anyways as we already knew without a doubt what was wrong with the vehicle when it was towed there. This all ended up being a huge expensive experience for us that could have been avoided if Stan's would have given us a proper quote on repair and not tried to extort money from us because they felt like the vehicle was captive there since it didn't run so they could charge us whatever they wanted to get it fixed and they thought we would agree to it. read more

We informed him we were coming yet they still released the vehicle to be taken. They offered no apology and absolutely no help. I have and older Honda they towed in for repair. After chasing the wrong problem and hours of repair they finally did a compression test on the motor and decided it wouldn't start due to low compression. Maybe this is normal but I essentially paid $1200.00 for them to tell me I had low compression and needed a new motor for $3000. Don't go there unless you already know what's wrong with your vehicle. The service was very friendly but I ended up spending every extra penny I had for them to tell me I needed a new motor. Something could have been done differently. read more

Wow! Traveling through the park we royally screwed our friends borrowed car by filling it with diesel by accident! They took us in same day and despite the 2 hours late tow truck arriving in the afternoon they got us flushed out and perfectly back on the road in time for our fight out that night. Our friend was relieved and considering it was all out of pocket we were psyched with the price. They promised low and delivered high - kept in touch all day. They knew exactly what to do and saved us a ton by knowing how this new car handled this problem differently than everything we'd heard from other mechanics. If I could give it no stars I would. They towed my car in, stating that they would get right on it. Then after 4 days of them not having looked at it they said it was because they had others in front of it. They did not say anything of the sort when they were towing it in. Then they tried to over charge me by $150 when it did get done. They simply added one part in twice. Hard to believe after everything else that it was an oversight. Terrible Terrible Terrible !!! After a phone call asking what they charged for AC service I took my car in for service since the phone conversation said I could get everything I needed for about $100 even if there were leaks. They would not recharge my system because they said there were too many leaks which turned out not to be ANY leaks. They wanted $1200 to rebuild my AC system and another $1200 to repair my front end ball joints, front axle bearings and such. (I couldn't figure out why they were looking at the ball joints when I took it in for AC work). I went to Advanced Auto Parts and got a recharge kit for less than the $100+ Stan's charged just for diagnosis on my car. They were CLEARLY trying to rip me off for $2400 or more.
