I love fried anything. Mostly fried chicken and donuts. But oh my god. My three girlfriends and I had gone to Do-Rite the day before on our trip in Chicago as I had specifically requested we make a couple donut stops. Do-Rite was good, but Stan's was amazing! This one is right by the Blue Line, and I was able to get myself a 10 pm donut right before heading to the bars. This shop was pretty busy still at 10pm! I loved how I was able to see when the train was coming on their TV monitors. I got the Biscoff Banana pocket. I could eat Biscoff out of the jar if I had it in front of me so this was perfect! This was nothing short of amazing! I sat quietly and just ate in donut bliss while my girlfriends waited for me (lol). Best donut of my life yet! Uuuuhhhhhhhhh, need I say more? As a full fledged educated donut lover I approve of this shop. Options galore and the taste is spectacular, strongly recommend, I grabbed several and loved them all equally. A good size as well, not too big or too small. They also had a vegan donut option, holllller to all my vegans, you too can enjoy this experience. I can tell this place probably gets crazy packed at times, but in addition to donuts they did have other options such as a variety of bagels (I cannot speak to the taste of these). They also had variety of coffee selection to choose from. Not all Stans Donuts are created equal. We tried a couple of other locstions and found the donuts to be average at best. Pretty much a slight step above Dunkin Donuts. This particular shop had donuts that rivaled any famous NY shop. The banana biscoff is one of the best donuts ive ever had and the glazed pretzel was on point. The only negative is this location not having this hibiscus yerbe carbonated cold brew that we had at other Stans Donuts locations. That tea is absolutely delicious. This is my First time at Stan's donuts and they had a large selection of donuts that made it really hard to choose only one or too, I picked the captain Crunch and the banana peanutbutter filler and joined it with a tall Cafe Latte and it set me back for around $10bucks. I tried the peanut butter and banana first and it was nice and fluffy on the outside and had plenty of banana and peanut butter on the inside topped with a sugar glaze that made it extra sweet then I had captain crunch that's was also very good as well but I was hoping that the cream filling would of tasted more like captain crunch. The large coffee was also good and piping hot but needed to add plenty of sugar because if not it tasted bitter in contrast with the donuts...it was also a lot of coffee and ended up very full... To sum It up, the donuts are great but they were a bit to cold for my taste and I just wish they had been warm and they would be perfect. (And worth mentioning, I guess, the shop at Roosevelt L is quite a bit less cute given how cramped it is, as compared to this shop at the Damen L.) They have amazing gluten free donuts. It's always difficult to find gluten free options. I got the pistachio one and it was the best donut I've ever had. It was moist, not too cumbly and not overly sweet with bits of real pistachio on top. My husband got the regular lemon pistachio old fashioned and he loved it. Trying to pick which donut to get was one of the hardest decisions I made while in Chicago. Luckily there were enough people in front of me in line that I had time to consider my options. I ended up getting the chocolate turtle cake donut, which was absolutely delicious! It was very fresh. The dough was on the heavy side, not light and fluffy, so I'd definitely recommend sticking with one donut or ordering a few to share with others or you'll be stuffed. It's filled with a Captain Crunch cream and as Captain Crunch cereal sprinkled on top- I feel like a big kid eating it. If you go early in the morning there is definitely a wait. Usually it's a line out the door if its before 9 a.m. Stans is a little bit pricey for donuts but you get what you pay for. I don't care too much for the coffee here it's a little bit flavor less. Their fruit filled donuts are so amazing and my absolute favorite being the blueberry. They make a blueberry jam from scratch and pipe it into a sugar coated donut. The best version of a bismarck donut. Their chocolate old fashioned will melt in your mouth. The chocolate covering the donut is dark and rich without being overly sweet and it goes perfectly with a cup of coffee. (They also taste amazing if you warm it up in the microwave for 30 seconds). Their biscoff donut is amazing and my friend once got their orange creamsicle donut, which she has been obsessing about (but I think it's a special edition donut). I opted in for the vanilla iced coffee, the double chocolate old fashioned, and the cinnamon pretzel. For a weekday morning right next to the damen l stop they weren't overly crowded, making their service pretty efficient. The pastries overall were solid. I personally thought the double chocolate old fashioned was a bit too rich to enjoy the entire thing alone, but being the chocolate lover I am I can't deny that I did in fact love this donut. I shared the cinnamon pretzel with some colleagues later on and it was quite the hit as well. Super soft and doughy wth plenty of flavoring, just how I like it!
