This staples has taken over a large chunk of the Costco parking to the point where they have put up signs and diagrams and threatening to tow if you park on the side of the building that has always been Costco parking. Does Staples really have that many customers that they need to "claim" this side of the parking lot? It's insane. I can't imagine staples needs 50 plus spots. This has and always been Costco parking it's laughable that they think they will be able to enforce this. By the time we left, it was filled with Costco customers. I went to Staples at 6104 Sepulveda Blvd, Van Nuys CA 91411 to print 11 files and copy six documents. I am very familiar with the Staples process of Printing from email. I was able to print several files, but was getting a machine error for a few. The machine would stop and prompt me to ask for an associate's help. So that's exactly what I did. The younger female tried to help by transferring me to another machine. It happened again, so my option was to ask for Maria's help. Instead of helping, she berated me. She said, "Show me what you're doing. I don't know what you're doing! You already used three machines so I don't know what you're doing!" She simply did not want to help. Very lazy, very rude, very insulting. She really has no business being in customer service. Instead of helping, she called for Nick or Jose. She said, "She used three machines. I don't know what she's doing. I cannot help her." It won't hurt her to probably TRY to help? Jose was kind enough to check if I got charged for two files that did not print. He also gave a paper bag for me to put my prints in. It makes a world of difference to at least attempt to provide some service. If you want your business to thrive, I'd strongly suggest to replace Maria. There are many other businesses for your clients to choose from. So, I walked into Staples with a small bag of paper to shred. I could not find my coupon, and I told the woman near the print center. She immediately responded, "Don't worry about it. I'll take care of the discount." Such a positive, friendly person. Cool. Behind the counter, a man brought over the locked bin. I dropped my Iphone 6 in the washer this morning, and saw they had a service to dry it so I ran over right after they opened. I tried compressed air and got a lot of it out, but it was in the machine a good 5 mins, soap and all. The young man who helped me was so sweet. He tried replacing the battery, and the screen and to no avail, its toast! I was there about an hour. I shopped around and got a dog bed, some new pens. Wow, a really nice dog bed for 13.50. Cheaper than Marshalls! They really have a good selection of everything here. I never really spent more than 10 mins in here, but glad I did. I didn't get the guys name, but he is a pleasure to deal with. You don't have to pay the 69.00 if they cant fix the phone, so that great, all you are out is time. Super helpful. We wanted to buy boxy storage boxes that were super cheap (to hold markers/pencils/scissors) but they only had 2 left. When we mentioned that to the cashier, she called up another employee to see if they had any left in the back. He went back and found us 10 more. So she cancelled the 8 other expensive (and smaller) pencil boxes and rang up the new ones. Everything is pretty well organized too. Just watch out because the parking lot can get pretty busy when the Costco next door gets busy. read more

My fiance and I are getting married just four months after our engagement and needed to have our wedding stationary rushed. We did the bridal shower invitation through Staples online and were so happy with the results so we thought we'd print our invitations and rsvp postcards there as well. We brought our documents in on an USB and within 20 minutes had beautiful proofs. David was extremely helpful and was willing to do whatever to help us. Left a nasty note on my car threatening to tow it from an unmarked spot in a shared parking lot. I got the message - I will never ever park in their parking spots again, especially not when I need office or school supplies. I don't normally go to Staples for my printing needs but I was in need of some business cards since my original order from a different company delivery time changed last minute. In a rush I created a card without realizing I chose the wrong design. Upon arrival I got the cards and was super underwhelmed and disappointed. Hector, the manager, was helping me with the order and he probably could tell upset. It was my OWN fault for screwing that up. He assured me that if I'm not 100% happy he'll show me how to fix it and come back to pick up the order. Did I mention that I messed it up?! Not them?!I felt TERRIBLE. it was my own fault yet they went above and beyond to help me and for a big name company that's unheard of. Racial Profiling at Staples I am a 44 year old man. A professional working in my field for 25 years. It has been years since I felt this kind of discrimination. At first I thought the guy was an employee, he asked if I needed help. But then he followed me everywhere I went. I deliberately went across the store and he was there watching me. Other customers came in, but he stuck to me like glue. I finally asked him, "Do I look like a thief?". He said he was doing his job. His job is not to harass people while they are trying to shop. I told him what he was doing was wrong, he said, "It's okay". I said it was not okay, and his reply was "Go about your business". I dropped the stuff I had in my hands, I wasn't giving money to a place that harassed me. Holy wait times Batman. The whole store is packed with customers which is fine but there's no one helping out customers in Copy and Print. There was no one to greet us or to help and with a line building up, it isn't the most pleasant to be waiting for a lengthy period of time. Had the worst experience ever today at the staple store in Van Nuys on Sepulveda blvd with the manager by the name of Hector, When I asked to speak to the general manager he said he was but after looking up on LinkedIn he has not, regardless I had an issue with a defective manufacture calculator that I just purchased two months ago, I brought it to Hector's attention that the manufacture directed me back to the store to exchange it for a new one or a different make, so I did I returned to the store today I explain to Hector that it's a defective calculator made by Canon that has a loud buzzing sound when it is not being used, Hector acted like he didn't give a damn about a defective calculator nor did he give a damn about helping me out to try and resolve this issue he just shrugged her shoulders and kept on saying call the manufacture we went back-and-forth and i telling him I've called the manufacturer numerous times and they keep directing me back to the store he again shrugged his shoulders and acted like he did not care, i made sure I make it clear to him that I have a big corporate account with staples where we spend approximately $15,000 a month and with this horrible customer service I will guarantee to close this account come Monday morning , again he did not care his attitude was horrible, his associates were at the register watching his horrible behavior and rolled her eyes and could not believe how he was acting towards his customer. They have a similar process where you email the attachments to a secure site. You get an email code and then are able to print. Very clear copies and good paper. Bring a card to pay directly at the self serve printer. Very happy to have this option. Also lots of parking in their lot. read more

Horrible service nobody helps. just came to print two simple tax returns, and no one in the store can help me find out how I can print these clearly and not blurry. Lady in the front that works right next to the printing looked at me like she saw a ghost when I asked her for help and then some guy who she said would help me just told me I couldn't print it clearly because it's not a hard file it's a photo. ended up printing about 20 blank white pages because no one told me what type of file the document has to be, there's no help. no one can help you with anything here not even to print a clear image/document! no sorry no thank you, no how are u! customer service is horrible. Even the guy standing in the front door will just be mute the whole time. Customer service goes a long way, Will not come back here today anymore took me 30 minutes with their self service printing, which is not cheap at all about , charges you $2 for 2 papers and is a $7 pre charge on your card. I had an incredible experience at Staples in Van Nuys near Costco this weekend. A loved one died during this awful pandemic and I needed to have a large legal document scanned and copied. I first tried another nearby copy and mailing store and they only had self service machines available. I called Staples and Kim in the printing area was so helpful and kind. She figured out what needed to happen to do the job efficiently after collaborating with an associate. Job was done when promised the next day. I promise this is not sour grapes, just truth. I only worked at this location a month and was fired because of what the manager said was my inability to grasp the details of the job I was assigned. Well, it's difficult to grasp anything when I was not trained and worked, on average, less than 20 hours per week! A week and a half of the month was computer training. Also, there was a huge issue with a major account for which I was completely blamed though I was not the only one who worked in the area in question. When the manager called 2 days before my being terminated, I specifically asked if I was in trouble. He deliberately lied about the content of the conversation to be had. At that, I knew what was coming, who wouldn't? There is a lot more to my experience but, suffice it to say, the complete lack of training and monitoring were to my detriment. A month! I also believe the client who had the issue wanted a sacrifice, and I was the easiest, newest employee in that area. I brought up the issue again and was told that wasn't the only problem this 'manager' had with my performance. As he lied before, I did not believe him. Bottom line, he wanted to get rid of me. Beware if you are interviewed and hired, specifically at this location. You will receive absolutely no training or supervision, and you could be fired without benefit of, at the very least, a conversation about allowing another month perhaps to ramp up your performance. As many current employees told me how they received no training, I will call the manager ratchet! Why hire someone only to set them up for failure? I have NEVER worked for an organization who allows an employee to 'sink or swim'. RATCHET!!! read more

BE AWARE!!! We are in a tough situation right now with this Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19). As you all know, people are buying everything and stores are packed trying to find what you can. The reason for this review is because cars are trying to find a place to park but it's too full. I went into Costco and parked in an open spot near staples. Didn't realize that there is no parking there. There were other cars parked there and I did not see the very small and faded letters on the ground that say no parking. When I came out of Costco, I noticed my car not there. Thats when I looked around and saw the small and barely noticable writing on the floor. Then the tow truck towing another vehicle away. I hung out and noticed the same tow truck just making rounds over and over. In a time like this, I believe people are already stressed and very concerned about this Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and don't need another issue happening to them. Staples is being very inconsiderate in having vehicles towed away one after the other. I went into the store and spoke with the manager after I had talked to the security guard outside and they had there stories all mixed up when I was asking questions about the towing of cars.
