It's not a bad Staples but not a good one either. The crazy thing is you can be standing in line for ten minutes - there's one cashier and someone calls - the person calling gets priority. The line gets put on hold, everyone waits until the person who's calling to ask about pens gets his question answered. If the person wants a lowdown on a every pen in the store, the cashier will help them over the people who've been standing there in line. It's just bizarre. The front cashier should not be answering phones. Clearly there are other employees in the store. Why this is allowed is a mystery and why there aren't always multiple cashiers working is also a mystery since I see employees just walking around the store. I've discovered a new printing spot! Yes, I realize I am so late to the party.. A work event has me printing a lot of stuff here and not just documents but images and posters of various sizes. They all turned out great!! I even discovered a different kind of special paper that you can print photos on within just a few hours and does not cost an arm and a leg. Foam board posters could only be shipped and expedited takes about 1 week. Everything was delivered on time and was excellent quality, especially the posters that were enlarged from photos. read more

She stayed cool and professional. I took off the one star for Staples management. They advertise same-day delivery of print orders and yet don't maintain or cross-train employees so that the promise can be fulfilled. Rude. The Assistant Manager (Cody) was absolutely rude, interrupted me when telling him about his impact and told me it was my problem because I didn't like what he was telling me. I understood just fine that the store policy changed, but the tone was all around that I was at fault and bothering him. It's not hard to find a new solution with a customer when their expectations changed, but the way he suggested a new solution was incredibly off-putting. This review is for their Amazon return service. It appears they don't like taking in returns from Amazon. One of the workers there told me why do you guys even use Amazon if you're going to end up returning the items. They recommend I just go to a store instead. Depending who will be managing the front cashiers that day, usually I go in for several chores, Hunter helped me in the past few times and he's been great, however if the gentleman in the red hair, that's what other associates pointed him to me as well (cashier # 3022366) this is off the return receipt that he gave me, couldn't see his name but, he's very obvious in his rudeness and arrogance, his comments that he thinks are a bit funny, they're actually abrupt and annoying, not sure of how long he's been there and a manager!! Possibly just as a default he earned that position. His attitude is unbearable for sure. Really glad to have a nearby Staples if I need to do a quick scan of docs. There are a few self-serve easy to use multi-functional copy/scan/print machines that are available in the front of the store. Since I had scan to email issues on my printer, I was able to drop in and easily scan/email myself some important time-sensitive legal docs. Price is about $0.50 per page and you can pay easily with a credit card. I've been coming here for some time. As an educator during the Back to School sales, some workers would help overlook limits on supplies since I was purchasing materials for my classroom, others would not. Inevitably, I left the store irritated depending on who helped (or didn't help) me. Still, out of convenience I'd come back year after year. Recently, I've been using their services to return Amazon packages. After my first experience, I gathered that the store associates weren't a fan of those coming in to return Amazon items. While I don't know all that Amazon returns entail and understand how a disruption to one's typical responsibilities could be annoying, frankly I don't ultimately care. Someone above their paygrade decided to partner with Amazon to provide the service and the expectation is that the experience here would be no different from more positive experiences I've had at Petco, UPS, or Whole Foods. Why you ask you am I so irritated? Well it's been over two weeks and 3 of my returns are MIA and never have I had any issues so haven't made it a habit of keeping proof my returns. Amazon, thankfully, is working with me to rectify this and explaining that returns can take time and I get it. However, I can't help but feel in my gut that the issue here was this particular store having dropped the ball with amazon returns. Considering this is the only Staples in the community and area (and the closest Office Depot is in Berkeley), it's not only inconvenient, but also irresponsible to be closed early without notice for people that rely on their services. Went here to ship something via UPS. The guy in charge of shipping items told me I'd have to buy a box (that's fine, I expected that) and packing material (again, totally fine). Did I have a shipping label? No. Well that's an extra charge as well (for a frikkin label?!) OK we'll this needs to be shipped so whatever. It is what it is. Then the shipping guy leaves. I pick the box and packing material. The lady behind the copy center counter then proceeds to sit and watch me struggle to wrap the item in bubble wrap. I ask for tape - she hands me a BROKEN tape wand with the cheap Staples tape that doesn't stick to the box. Her response? "Oh yeah...sometimes it doesn't stick." So buying shipping tape it is then. The customer service here (especially the one lady behind the counter) is severely lacking. And they had maybe two other customers in the whole store and about 5 employees on the floor. Subject: Unprofessional Behavior and Poor Customer Service I recently had the misfortune of encountering an incredibly rude employee (cashier) at Staples in Pinole CA, yesterday (2/26) at around 4:30PM and it left a lasting bad impression. I went in with a simple task: to pick up some office supplies. I showed him a picture of what I needed, and he muttered that this might be an old ad but said that he can match the price. I asked a few questions about ordering it directly at the store and shipping. This employee barely provided any helpful information. When I asked more questions, his response was curt and dismissive. He impolitely said that he has other customers to attend to, when in fact I was the only customer at the cashier counter, and I reminded him that I am a customer too. I have been in the hotel service industry for 20 years and customer service is very important. This employee is disrespectful. I won't be returning anytime soon unless there's a serious change in how customers are treated. It's a shame when a simple shopping trip turns into such a negative experience. read more

I have always had good experiences at this Staples store. I had a problem printing Alameda County forms and the staff were extremely helpful in attempting to print the documents. After numerous attempts and work arounds, we were unsuccessful. They then directed me to a nearby competitor which I appreciated. I went there and the docs still would not print, displaying the same error msg, so I knew Staples was not the problem. Beyond my own printing saga, I observed numerous customers receiving excellent service. First timer on Yelp, I signed up just to share my feedback. I want to share my experience when I visited the Pinole location last night. If I could give a zero stars I would, I came in last night to get a couple things printed, and the lady that was on duty was very rude and condescending. I asked about printing posters and getting them put on foam board backing. She told me that I needed to come back another time because she didn't know how to place my order in the last hour. She kept telling me all the things that she could not do, also while going back-and-forth with a customer arguing with him about making his copies in the copy area, I was never provided solutions about what could be done. She offered to write my information on a piece of paper and have someone called me the next day. I have been visiting this location for very long time, this is the first time that I had a employee talk down to me and make me feel stupid because I don't know what I'm doing. It's fine to have a bad day, but to take that out on it customer, basically tells me that I need to go take my money somewhere else, I understand that he may have not been knowledgeable on what is going on because she kept telling me that she was new, however Delivery is everything when it comes to working in customer service. When I asked the young lady, her name, she told me that her name was Krystal and that she was the manager and if I didn't like it, I could go somewhere else or I could come back tomorrow and place my order with the attendant in the morning. Krystal was very unprofessional to my self and the gentleman she was going back and forth with. In all my years of coming to Staples, I have never had an issue like this before I will never visit Staples ever again. You don't ever have to worry about me, visiting Staples again with that Service, I will take my business to Kinkos down the street. First of all I was standing in line at Staples and not one person greeted me out of the five employees who were standing around doing minor tasks. Then they overcharge me for my prints and when I questioned him about it. He replied rudely by saying he didn't know what. It's talking about nor did he understand the question. At this point am becoming heated, but I did not tell him off like I wanted to I told him that I wouldn't be coming back to get color copies because of there price gouging, But the truth of the matter is, that the employees have no better training than Walmart employees. The Manager needs to Hire employees with a profession disposition & train the staff to: #1. Acknowledge the customers when they come in . 2. Be respectful if you' are asked a question , respond kindly and do not not come across as rude or disrespectful. #3. Be courteous of the customer by not allowing 20 distractions to take you away from assisting them.. #4. Stop gouging your customers! That way the customers will not go to Kinkos. or Copy Central. #5. Management?, Train your employees to be professional by setting the example I will not be coming back there to spend money on people who don't care about their customers experience. read more

For some reason the file wouldn't allow her to open it and she found other ways to download the file and work her magic. Point being She got it done and made the layout just how I wanted it. I came here yesterday to print a very important document from my doctors. The printer in my office was broken. I was under alot of stress to print this paper out and get it submitted by 4pm. ( My job was depending on me printing this paper) Anyhow , I was here around 2pm at the printing center. There were two female employees working behind the printing counter. Both were not friendly and in my opinion, terrible customer service. I had been there trying to print this paper for over an hour. Every time I asked the woman a question about the computer or the self print station , she just basically blew me off looking annoyed and seemed really unwilling to help like I was asking them a stupid question. She would barely explain the self service print station and kept directing me to go to the machine to figure it out myself. (the Asian woman, not the caucasian women with the headband on) And not to bring up a persons ethnicity but I dont know any of their names. The woman kept directing me to do everything on my own and would not even immerge from behind the counter to help me. It was so frustrating and the terrible customer service made the situation even worse . They both didn't seem willing to help, yet they could sit behind the counter talking about personal things that doesnt pertain to business!!! Anyhow after feeling totally frustrated finally the manager of the store and another male associate helped me. This is after over an hour of me being there trying to print one document. Being frustrated with the computer systems and printer systems. By this point I was pissed. The male associate went out of his way and took his time to help me try to print the document and he did have excellent customer service. He helped me figure out how to get it printed and I was able to make the stressful deadline for my job. My whole point of the review being Staples. You should not place a worker with an attitude problem and pure laziness in the printing department. That really ruined my experience there . Not everyone works with printing for a living so I do not appreciate that womans attitude like I was stupid or something trying to print a document. read more
