So I came here today for a stupid desk bell. Usually my experience here is on point (that's why I gave it 3 stars), but today's experience was not the business. I had a horrible experience at Walmart and I knew that Staples would have the item I needed as I looked online. When I couldn't find the item, I asked a man, Brent I believe was his name, who was behind the customer service desk. I waited patiently as he was helping an elder man with a computer problem. When he was able to ask me if I needed any help, he told me that the desk bell would be in isle 3, bottom right corner. I may have been skimming quickly as all I saw were a plethora of white out. I looked around isle 2 and 4 to make sure I didn't get mixed up and walked down isle 3 numerous times and still no desk bell. I walked back to the customer service desk just to let him know I couldn't find it and if I was mislooking or what not. But right when I came back, he looked at my hands to see they were empty and immediately said, "I'm busy helping someone right, you need to find someone else to help you." I was PISSED!! I understand he was with a customer, but he could have said it in a more professional way like, "I'm sorry I'm with a customer right now and can't leave this desk, but I can page someone or ask someone to help you in a moment," anything among those lines where he sounded more professional instead of an asshole. I was about to storm out, but I took a deep breath and looked around for someone else to help me. Ironically enough, all the workers I saw were at the check stands and I refused to wait in line to tell me where this stupid desk bell was and then have to wait in line again to be rung up. A staples worker looked at me and I told him," Look, I know you guys are busy, but I can't seem to find a desk bell in isle 3." He replied, "it should be in a green box." I said, "All I saw was a wall filled with white out products, can you clarify that it is in isle 3 and I'll check again?" Instead of clarifying, he did the loudest sigh and told the customer he was about to ring up one moment. I honestly felt bad for me interrupting the customers check out time, but the guy didn't have to feel obligated to help me. He could have simply told me, "Let me ring up this guy first and I will show you where the product is." Instead, he made it seem like he was going out of his way to help me when I was not rushing or pressuring him to physically show me where this stupid bell was. When he showed me where it was at (which was in a green box, but literally on the second to the last shelf behind the shelf stand) I said, "OMG, I'm so sorry, thank you" and he replied, "yea sure." If I ever come across these 2 guys again, I will simply walk out and take my business to Office Depot. read more

Terrible and uncoordinated I called in to ask if the WD Ultra 1 TB hard drive was on sale and if they had it in stocked. Moments later on the phone, they said they did have it and it was indeed 69.99 as advertised. I said okay I will be there later. Well guess what? I come into the store and grab the product to buy. I pick it up and ask if they can check the price and that it should be the price as advertised. Guy scans it and several minutes later doesn't even know if they have it in stock and tells me it is 84.99. I tell them to check again. He says there are no sales ad at this moment. I say "bye." I was done with this store. Bye Staples, was nice knowing you. Waste of time and gas. read more

Staples is your laid-back Office Depot. I really don't have a preference between the two since they both offer a mega selection of writing tools..which is really the only thing I usually look for in an office supply store. I'm finicky when it comes to writing equipment. And I'm very kinesthetic. The writing stick has to have the perfect diammeter for ergonomic pleasure and I prefer gel over ink because it feels smoother as I stroke it down the paper. Besides my fetish for writing equipment, I like the convenience of having a fax and copy machine at home. Unfortunately, my fax has been out of order. So here's where office supply store saves the day... They've got this corner dedicated to doing your own paperwork business. Faxing seemed a bit costly ($1.75 for first page, $1 for additional), but it got the job done. Though I prefer faxing for "free" it's nice to know that I can come here if needed. read more

This review is solely because of Lisa in printing! My sister and I met up for the weekend to work on planning a baby shower. We had designed invited but were having issues printing them. Lisa was by herself and helping other people. We were getting frantic this project wouldn't get done over the weekend while we were there. Most people when they're by theirselves because people call in sick, etc get all "huffy puffy" and flustered. Not Lisa, not once... And she worked with us all weekend! She was so patient, managed everyone perfectly, respectfully, and has a keen eye for detail... Which is just the person I want to help with a project like this. She proudly wears her customer service badges and I can tell you from experience she has earned them! She was even helping a bride finalize her invited and instead of saying "come back when you're ready" she helped her fine tune them. Lisa is one of this above and beyond people who just take pride in their job. Staples doesn't deserve her and I hope they realize what an amazing person they have representing their company. I will most likely be writing a letter to the president... I am blown away by her multitasking and even temperament. read more

He took a lot of time to explain the pros and cons of the product, and offered us some good ideas to help out new users. Really lucky to find him there...Bravo! read more

This review is purely for Elliot in the print department. I came in on 11/20 at 9:30AM and was in a rush, totally forgetting to be my usual friendly self. He must have noticed, and instead of returning my stress he was composed and kind. He really went the extra mile to provide great service, and I noticed. So much so that it stopped me in my tracks and humbled me. If you can go to a different office supply store, please do. The prices at this location are not bad but the customer service is pretty awful. Linda at the registers is rude and irritable. I had to return some office supplies that I ordered accidentally, without a receipt. I know, I know, always save your receipts. I did my research on the Staples website to see what I could do about returns without a receipt. You can return things for store credit. Linda was flat out telling me I could not return it because they had no way of showing that I bought it there. The package said Staples right on it. It is a Staples brand product, I could not have bought it at another store. I told her that I read that I could return it for store credit, she then got very irritated and took the return. I was my usual polite self during this whole interaction with her and even thanked her very much when she was able to shoot me store credit but she didn't respond and just went on to help the next person in line. She was even rude to this person by not even acknowledging them and saying hello. I'm a big sucker for good customer service and this place just does not cut it. read more

Ok, so which one of you have a box full of receipts that you dig through when you need to return a product? RIGHT? No one. So I go in to make an even exchange on an identical product- but I didn't have a receipt. I didn't want any money back, just an even exchange but for a different color. Do you think they could make that happen? Not a chance. If you don't have your receipt you are stuck with it for life! You think I'm going to be back? I'd sooner drive across town! What a horrible experience. Mind you, this wasn't a $50 or $100 item, it was minor compared to the hundreds of dollars they'll miss from my wallet in the next few years. read more

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STAPLES. Today was my second and last time I will go to this horribly managed store. I stood in line behind two other patrons for 20 minutes before I finally gave up, left my item and walked out of this clueless establishment. The checkout girl was thoroughly under trained, under qualified and under speed. This was exactly the same experience I had on my prior visit with a completely different new and different person. I agree with some of the other yelpers regarding the customer service, especially the front cashier. I believe her name was Linda, an older, white hair, slender lady. She is very rude, seems irritated she has to help us, and definitely not very nice. We were the only one in line and it took her, standing there at her register, a few minutes to call us. This was actually my second time dealing with her. The first time I came in, I had a mystery staple rewards, not knowing what the amount was, so I politely waited in line for the register, since there were a couple of people in line. Linda called on me and I provided her with my mystery reward. I asked her politely if she can tell me what the amount is so I can go pickup some items for around that amount, but instead of trying to help me, she just told me she can't do it unless I buy something. I grabbed an item from her counter and asked her if she can try scanning that and then tell me. She was super annoyed, but did as I asked. I guess the register apparently didn't tell her what the amount was so she told me, it is most likely only $5. Okay, I grabbed my reward certificate and went to grab a few items. This time, I was helped by another person and he explained to me the mystery rewards won't tell them the exact amount, but it was more than $11 worth of the stuff I grabbed. I asked him to hold my items so I can grab a few more stuff. He tried to void the transaction, but for some reason it used my reward certificate and it came out to be a $50 mystery reward. The manager was called to void the entire transaction and they were both super friendly. I went on to grab $50+ worth of items for the house and unfortunately was helped by Linda again, not the other employee, but luckily the manager was there and she basically took care of me. Linda, even at the presence of her manager, was not very friendly. The second time I came with my son, I was helped by Linda, again, because she was the only cashier. She obviously didn't change, still unfriendly, unhappy, and rude! read more

Tried on 4 separate occasions to get FedEx to print out 5 large maps for me and each time they came up with a new excuse as to why they couldn't do it. I got fed up and brought it into this location and they printed them up for me no problem, and for a cheaper price! read more

This store is a hit or miss. I come in frequently to have documents printed and to buy supplies for my office. If I'm lucky Nick will be working in the print department and take my order and knock it out quickly and usually the same day. But other times I get the misfortune of having to deal with the other lady who works in that department. My order is rarely taking down correctly by her and I've never met anyone who visibly showed how much they hated their job and made sure you knew as they dragged their feet. The employees working the floor aren't much help either. Now when I come by if I don't see a competent employee working in the print department I turn around and leave. I'd rather drive out of my way to stop by kinkos on the way to work than deal with the clowns attempting to run this store. read more

They printed a file for me, 15 pages. 62 cents per page. At the checkout, I asked the employee to staple it for me. She handed me a flimsy stapler, which I knew would be insufficient. I asked her if we could use a more heavy duty stapler. She told me I'd have to buy one. read more

Always clean and organized. Everyone is nice but, always a but, many times there are not enough people to help or at the register.

If you are looking to get copies or print large items go here! Don't bother with FedEx. Lisa was great and even helped resize/ crop the images. She provided top quality customer service. She made the large items printed an easy experience, unlike FedEx. read more

Brian gave me the best customer service I have ever had at a retail store. He proactively search me out in the printer cartridge section of the store. Without asking he checked my order to make sure I was purchasing the correct cartridges for my printer. He also make sure I wasn't purchasing anything I did not need. He up sold me on a 3 for 2 paper sale they were having. It's always good to have a stockpile at home. He carried the paper to the register and check me out. Worst customer service ...I've never seen so many employees wanting to close and go home so badly before. I was asked to make my final selections and proceed to the cashier 30 mins before closing. This place is the worst! There was no one at the print counter I waited for 7min! Finally went to a cashier and asked him to call someone to the print area finally someone came. For some reason when I do prints and copies at Kinkos/fedex I never have any problems, but with they're system and set up at staples I always have a problem. Weather it's their machines not reading my card so I have to buy a gift card and load it and even then the machines act up. They only have one color printing machine too! I've given staples a chance over and over but today was the last straw! They're supplies prices aren't even that great, pretty much any place is cheaper for office supplies. read more

Ordered some mailing labels online and wanted to pick them up at this location as it was the closest to where I lived. It was supposed to be done the same day (more like by the next day). I called before making the trip down to Staples and they did not have my order. I spent some time talking to Sarah about it. She said it must have been a third party who was doing the labels. But I sent her my email with the order number and she was able to figure it out and have my mailing labels printed in 1 hour. It was unfortunate that my order was not processed correctly and I hope it doesn't happen to the the next customer, but Sarah made up for it with her great customer service. read more

I needed to recycle some e-waste (blu ray player, laptop, and a printer etc), so I Googled e-waste recycling and a paid Ad from Staples was at the top of the page claiming they recycle e-waste any condition etc. I clicked on it and the Staples website claims to recycle at least 37 different items (most of which they probably sell), including coffee makers, computers, phones, printers, blu ray players etc. They limit you to 7 items unless you call to arrange for more items. The website did not mention to call if you have 7 or less. I then went to the Citrus Heights Staples and was told they were full since Christmas and could not accept even 1 item. They then suggested maybe the Rancho Cordova store. I asked if they could call and see if they had room for my e-waste. They said no and I began walking away, they then asked if I wanted the phone number. I got the number and called and was told they could accept my 5 items. I then drove to Rancho Cordova and was told that they only accepted computers and computer related materials. I told them the website has many more items listed as acceptable including the items I was bringing in. I was told that they know what was on the website and my blu ray player and VCR were not acceptable. I then gave them my computer and printer and went home. I went to the website and it clearly says blu ray players are accepted, but did not specifically mention the VCR. The VCR was not, however, on their list of prohibited items. I then called and talked to the assistant manager who stated the employees have access to the list of items accepted and that he would advise the employees on the proper protocol regarding this issue. I was left with the impression that the employee who had helped me should have accessed the list prior to denying my items and also advising me that I didn't know what I was talking about. Note: I generally like Staples, but the rating is for the e-waste recycling program and the way the employees at both stores handled the matter. read more

FYI, they will charge you at least $6.00 extra (without telling you before hand) if you need printing with in an hours time. Doesn't matter if there are any orders before you or not. I won't be back to their store. In fact, I'd rather go to wal-mart for my school and office supplies. read more

When it finally arrived, I immediately returned it in-store as they advise on their website. It took 20 minutes of "verification." What a waste of time! I have used staples before for my copy and printing needs and they have been so so , However this last time I walked in with a pretty complicated request for flyers that had to be re sized and set up to cut in half to get to flyers per page. This is something they have botched before. But I think they have a new staff because they did an exceptional job and the color and quality was top notch. Kudos to you staples I love to see a business find its weakness and improve them. read more

I went over to the photo print shop to get 2 pages laminated, and the lady (older, blonde, glasses) said I had to drop them off and pick them up tomorrow. I usually go to a different location where they take about 5 minutes to do it. I asked the lady why? she claimed to be too booked. I asked "For 2 papers to be laminated, you don't have enough time???" She said "Nope!" I asked if anyone else was there that can do it, and she said no. Then I asked to speak to a manager, and she replied, "I'll see if she even wants to come over here..." Then got on her mic and said something to her manager. I eventually had to go find the manager (Tina) and ask3: her myself. She seemed very annoyed but ended up laminating my 2 papers. I asked for the rude employee's name, so that I can call corporate, and she refused to give it to me. She said to call the GM Dusty tomorrow if I wanted to talk to someone. She has been there for at least a year and I finally decided I've had enough and will not return. I hardly submit negative reviews but my experience with them was so horrible I had to share. I ran in to do a quick self print job and of course their printer was down. The woman at the counter attempted to help me by placing an order to be completed "now". Her and two other employees sat there making sarcastic remarks and rolling their eyes in regards to the other ones comments which made me extremely uncomfortable. I walk around the store for 20 minutes waiting for my order to be completed since I did submit it as express (in which I was charged more for had their self printing machine just been working) came back to the print counter to see if my order was completed. Turns out the employee who took my order and was supposed to be completing my order decided to go on lunch. I understand she is more than entitled to breaks but please don't tell me my order will be done "now" then take a 30 minute break. On top of that the other employees were not able to complete my order because every printer in store was broken, kind of ironic as this company specializes in printing. I now understand why this is such a dying business if printers break this easily. I just wish they could have compensated for lack of printers working and had better customer service. read more

I needed a home printer and went to the RC Staples. Was helped by Assistant manger Kyle. Being a "non computer" guy, I had a lot of questions. Kyle was very helpful and patience. Ended up buying a HP that was on sale. Overall I was very satisfied with my experience. Great customer service. I'll be a returning customer. read more
