The once-reliable office supply retailer has fallen on hard times, it would seem. With only one discernible employee staffing the store, I felt bad distracting him from ringing up another customer at the register to ask him where I might find a postal scale. The shelves looked sad, with plenty of empty sections and a strong going-out-of-business aura. I felt bad for the single employee as well as the random two or three other customers wandering the store as aimlessly as I was. I spotted some overpriced battery banks and extension cords, packing tape and copier paper, but not the one office item I had expected to find. Yet I did manage to spot a Taylor Swift coloring book. (Yes, I'm a fan of the pop singer, but this is the last place I'd go looking for such a thing.) Ultimately got what I needed. This place has a good selection of chairs and such. There were two employees walking around, one of which we asked for help to find a good chair. They were very nice and helped a lot to find the perfect chair. It was also moderately priced, which made us happy in this economy. My mom loves this chair now. As for the Staples itself, it felt kind of dead inside, but oddly homey. I think that made me enjoy my visit even more. It felt like Wall-E after they planted the plant and revived humanity. Perhaps a remaining store in a mall that is on the verge of closing. But not in a way that one would feel disdain. It is comfortable. This store has been on my mind ever since I went just because of how... storely it is. That is all to say: I suggest it if you need chairs and enjoy a joyfully haunting vibe in stores. read more

Staples is a great store . Everyone shops of Amazon/Best Buy etc , but the quality and Price in staples sometimes is amazing . I love their online portal too. Got an amazing gaming chair today for only 84$, which is normally 249$. Ordered online and did a quick store pickup. Donno why they have a handling charge for online orders delivered to house . That's the only issue I have with them. Otherwise it's a good store. They ship items in 1-2 days , just like Amazon . Return process is hassle free . Service in store is ok . Lots of parking outside. I still don't know exactly how Staples stays open with all these stores, unless they use them as mini warehouses because I don't usually see a ton of people here. However it is useful for the print shop and the UPS drop-off and package center being open far later than a regular UPS branch. Lots of school sales is good, but prices on average are higher outside of sale items. read more

I went to Staples on Rt. 22 today because I needed copies of my husbands medical records so that I could mail them to a hospital in New York. I am not the least bit savvy on what to do, but a young lady named Deanna, said she would help me with it. At first all I thought I could do was to make copies of these 279 pages to mail out. The price was quite high and i really could not handle it! Deanna said "why not put the information on a flash drive so I went and purchased one and brought it back to her. She was able to transfer all my information and it was done almost instantly! Not being familiar with these abilities, I was so impressed by her. I have been to this staples before for printing service and it has always been a complete nightmare but I needed invitations printed so I begrudgingly came after work as it's the one closest to my home. I was expecting to be frustrated with the printing process of having to email proofs to myself and it not going through like in the past..I was ready to be ignored by associates and leave with higher blood pressure than I came in with. Enter..Kasey! This magical super being is everything that you could ask for in a Staples associate. This reviews is actually all about them. Not sure what pronouns Kasey uses but Staples give them a raise. Make them a manager, heck make them run all Staples operations for the east coast. They are an absolute GEM! Ah-May-Zing!! They made the entire printing experience incredibly easy and actually fun. They cracked jokes in between when we had some technical difficulties, made light of what could have been a stressful situation. They juggled the print center by themselves smoothly and I wasn't the only customer. They were calm and collected under pressure and did it with a beautiful smile. Short of inviting Kasey to the actual event I was printing invitations for ( which I pondered doing) I highly recommend Staples printing services. Make sure to ask for Kasey. Specifically the printing center. I called in the morning to see if they could accommodate a special sized printout I needed and was told they could and that when I stopped by I could go over printing and paper options...the request was not exotic just not a size I saw online. That afternoon I stopped by but the person I spoke to wasn't in. The people I did deal with were so rude. They told me the earlier individual was wrong (ok mistakes happen) and when I tried to see if there were other solutions I was met with more rudeness and one word answers. They acted like any question I had about paper or print quality options were ridiculous when another employee stepped in and said she told the employee I spoke to that what I wanted HAD to be done one way and it HAD to be more expensive as if to tell me to stop asking questions. That's when I left because I refuse to give business to a place after being treated like that. There was one employee who was kind enough to bring me the paper sample options they offer while the others berated me, I appreciated her professionalism but the rest of the team didn't follow her lead. They don't care about customers. And Office Depot is down the road. I showed up after closing time. Even though I could talk to 3 employees they refused to help. I needed a VGA to HDMI adapter first thing the next day to do a training. Just flew in from out of town. Took $20 taxi ride to get there. I offered to pay cash. Told them to just 'write a note' and someone could do it through the register the next day. Refused. So I will fail tomorrow morning. Seriously, Staples should stop training its young employees to be afraid of getting into trouble. They should enable them to make and satisfy customers. (2.50 stars) I've always enjoyed browsing office supply stores, and this is one category of retail purchase that I sometimes buy without an immediate need. I have a desk drawer full of ink-jet adhesive label stock in various sizes, just in the event they are needed-- they rarely are. For this reason I'm not at Staples stores as frequently as I'd like. This particular store has a very good selection, and is well lit and generally well maintained. I've also used their printing (photocopy) services; they do a decent job, but don't always accurately follow instructions (they don't attempt to charge for their mistakes). The process is slow. While there are reasonable prices for their office supplies, you have to be very careful about Staples pricing for anything technology related. Their printer cartridges are billed as being discounted, but there are better prices to be had on Rt. 22. The decent selection of office furniture and equipment seems to be a mix of discounted promotions and very average prices. Sales assistance here is always hard to predict; aggressive in approaching shoppers, but meek in their follow-thru. In dozens of offers to have them "check in the back," I've never had a sales associate find what they were looking for. In more than a few instances, they're not seen again. read more

Oh my goodness. Trying to send a small UPS package. One person at the desk. Waiting 20 minutes

I went to the Copy Center to print 100 copies. The "Print Me" option to send the file from my email to their copier never sent me the return email with a code after trying twice (hours later, still no email), and when I asked a manager for help, I got a different email address to use. When I paid, I found out I got charged an EXTRA $17 for having to use their employees to do it...uh, because their Print Me function failed. Lesser annoyances was the incredibly slow (albeit friendly) customer service. There just wasn't a lot of urgency to get customers in and out. There was a credit card reader on one of the copy machines the staff knew was broken, and never put up a sign- I kept watching customers (having been there a while!) try to use it over and over and get frustrated. And, the person who made my copies left the area after starting them so I had to ask for them so I could get to my meeting. Definitely not a lot of concern for my time during work hours here. Nah. Was at this location to pick up a couple of labels that I ran out of while awaiting a shipment of labels. 4 employees were behind the counter but apparently only one register was open. The customer at the register had extensive questions (which is understandable) so that register was going to be occupied for a while. While standing waiting wondering what these other employees behind the counter were there for, never once did anyone say to me "Someone will be right with you" "Sorry for the wait" . As a small business owner I pride myself in customer service and this location dropped the ball in my opinion. I bought a Black Friday deal computer from the Staples website on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving because mine had died and I was in the middle of an important project and needed a new one ASAP. I was hoping to pick it up that day, but I was notified that the store nearby did not have it in stock and one would be shipped and I'd get it by Friday. I wasn't happy, but it was a good deal so I didn't cancel. I was told the store would let me know when I could come and pick it up, but I heard nothing from them as Friday came and went. I did hear from UPS, and their tracking number showed that the computer would in fact be delivered on Monday. Had I known, I would not have ordered it. More annoyed! On Monday, UPS followed up to confirm that the computer had finally been delivered to the store nearby. Still nothing from the store, so I called customer service and was told that the store says they never received the computer! (FYI - there is a UPS location IN THE STORE!) They gave me the option of reordering for delivery at some future date or canceling the order. Outraged, I canceled it and cursed myself for buying a computer from a stationary store. I got home an hour later with one I bought from Best Buy at a better price. Stay away from Staples unless you need printer paper! read more

Their manager, Mark is very unintelligent and incompetent. I went in for an even exchange (exchanging same item but in different colors) and I ended up getting refund of items that I wanted to keep, and refund was store credit when I paid for in debit cash, and top it off, I ended up paying extra for an even exchange because I used a store credit/coupon for my initial purchase and policy doesn't offer refunds on coupon. The amount was only $0.60 so I didn't make a fuss and paid, but it's the PRINCIPLE. The manager could've made it right, and instead, he didn't even apologize and left in a hurry. The cashier understood me, and agreed that policy was messed up and apologized and I just appreciated his compassion. The manager? He had the power to let me re-purchase the same item for the price I initially paid for, but no. I don't think he even understood, that this was supposed to be an even exchange and how I ended up paying was a little odd.... Horrible customer service indeed. Go to the Staples in Watchung a few miles away instead of this location. read more
