I would have guessed the ink on 1-year warranty would have dried before I'd need to use it. Sadly, that isn't the case. Now, I'll need to pay to rent a car for another multi-day stint with AAction. (I don't suppose they'd be gracious enough to pick up the tab for continued inconvenience)... needless to say, I'm not terribly satisfied with AAction Better Built Transmissions right about now...

Yesterday, my car's transmission got stuck in second gear and the check engine light came on. I took my car back to the same shop, not under warranty, so they could tell me what was wrong with it and how much would cost to fix. I was preparing myself to get the bad news. They check my car and found they only had to replace a sensor and a fuse. They quickly fix my car and charged me under $40. Nice to know there is a mechanic's shop that is honest and knows what they are doing. If you have a problem with a transmission, I would highly recommend this shop.

Why wasn't this done in the first place, well the technology for whatever that is did not exist until, uh, after my truck was last there. Of course it didn't. Then suggested I just sell the truck because it was 7 years old and "getting old". When I brought it back once again still shifting terribly, Ralph then said he'll put me on "a list" if I didn't pay for more "repairs". Huh? My experience was an entire scam. So what do you think I did? I fell in love with the truck and bought it anyways. So two years down the road and close to 200,000 miles later, I did follow my mechanic's suggestion that I drive it to AAMCO Transmission to get an estimate. Three weeks later (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5), and many days of frustration and anxiety, I drove it out feeling like I had a new truck. I waited two weeks to write this review while I drove it hard for 1,200 miles. It still runs like a brand new truck! The frustration and anxiety was in the communication, through no fault of the service manager, Victor Ramos: More and more repairs were necessary and each time the phone rang and I saw it was him, my stomach would turn. However, he would communicate with detailed photos emailed to me of finding broken parts and necessary repair discoveries which were honest and verified by my personal mechanic who would reply "I told you so" each time I double checked Victor's diagnosis. This resulted in a longer time period of living without my beloved old truck. Bottom line, my Ford F150 got a rebuilt transmission, an oil change with new nonleaking oil pan, new spark plugs in all 8 cylinders using the special tool required to remove the old ones, a new timing chain kit which had a part break off inside the oil pan (I have pics from Victor to prove it), and a reduced price in the labor costs. They also offered a loan with great terms to help pay for this. The whole cost was under $3,500 which I consider a bargain when I now drive my truck. Their work is under warranty for a year. I cannot tell you how nervous I got when my daughter brought up the previous negative yelp reviews. I hope this one will be considered to offset the bad reviews. I am totally happy with my truck now. I will update this in a few months if my truck has any problems.

I think I found my new Porsche place even if it's an hour drive. Very meticulous, knowledgeable and professional. Very clean bathroom and waiting area was nice and even provided munchies, coffee, cold sodas and water, gratis. They've been doing this for a while and are doing things right (as you'll see from the many awards they've won over the years). Did a great job with my annual maintenance, mostly consisting of changing oil and checking electronics, sensors on Tire Pressure Sensors (which were off) which they filled tires, reset sensors (no additional charge) and everything else was good to go. Alerted me to substantial tire wear without trying to push tire purchase on me as they would many other places. Prices very reasonable and without a doubt a long way from Dealership prices or some of these HOIDY TOIDY shops, (no names of course). Thanks for your GREAT SERVICE (hard to find these days). The price seemed high, but since I was still price shopping and didn't know what was reasonable, I thanked him and told him exactly that before leaving to check other places. Less than an hour later, I came back because I hadn't found another option and decided I was over the hassle of shopping around. When I returned, he raised the price (Proceeds to lie). That immediately felt wrong to me. When I questioned it, his tone gave me the impression that he was upset I had not accepted his original offer earlier, and that he increased the price because he assumed I did not find a better deal elsewhere. I was very bothered by that and decided not to give him my business. About a month later, I still had not gotten the work done, so I decided to try again and went back to the shop. This time, his attitude was even worse. He literally looked at me and said something along the lines of, "Oh, I thought you were going to take it somewhere cheaper," in a sarcastic tone. Of course, he has the right as a business owner to refuse service, but I think people should know the kind of experience I had here. What bothered me most was the lack of professionalism and the way the pricing was handled. I do not think it is good business practice to give someone a price and then change it shortly after for no legitimate reason. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this shop. Keep in mind his daughter was working in the front desk and witnessed the second interaction.
