Sorry to say but this is a bad shop. I used to bring my cars here but stopped because there was too much guess work instead of knowing exactly what the issue was. I allowed a potential buyer to bring a car I was selling here for a pre purchase inspection. The car was running fine, but after conducting a compression test that was never approved by me on a 2015 bmw m4 with no signs of any issues the car had misfires. After waiting from 8am till 3pm they told me to go home and they will call me when they fix the issue they caused(didn't even offer to order me an uber. I lived an hour walk away. 6 months later of hearing back once every 2 weeks the car was never fixed. He blamed me for the problem and made me purchase parts that had nothing to do with the issue. Once i brought the car home and had my new mechanic work on the car it was ready in 2 days. Replace the valvetronic motor a couple of spaek plugs and ignition coils. This mechanic cost me $10k in parts/time/and car insurance when the car could have been sold if he hadn't broke it. Do not bring your car here. They don't do good work and dont take responsibility for the work they do actually do. read more

I've probably driven past this place a hundred times. My check low beam headlight warning light was on. I had an extra bulb in my car but the last time I tried to change the bulb, I dropped the headlamp retaining clip. Now my light just sits unsecured in the socket. Anyway, I was driving by Star Auto Sport and thought, let me see if they can help. By the grace of God, I met Frank. I explained what happened. He grabbed a long wire with a camera on the end. Then he grabbed a magnet stick. He found the clip I thought I had lost. He changed my bulb and reattached the clamp. An issue I had for years, was fixed within minutes. When you go to the dealer, the largest part of the bill is labor. Frank refused to take any compensation?!! What an honest and wonderful human being. The least I can do is let others know my story. FRAUD is written all over this mechanic shop. In Dec 2021, I took my car to Albert for an oil leak. He charged me $1800 - Since, every two weeks, the engine light would come on and a loud noise while driving .. took the car to him 3 times in the course of a month to fix and he asked me to pay another 2K because he detected the source of the oil leak was different from what he had fixed. When I asked him then why did you're charging another $2K, he claimed that the other parts had to be fixed too! - At that point I became very suspicious of their practice. I requested a written list of the problems multiple times from Albert , Rachel ( receptionist) and never received. Phone would ring 10 times. No one would pick up and voice mail was not functioning. The car was not safe to drive for weeks and I had to use Uber all the time. Then one day when I tried calling again, a guy picked up the phone and said Albert is out of the country and he couldn't provide anything and to call Rachel the next day. Next day, and weeks after same issues with phones and VM, texts.., no replies. I took the car to a few other mechanics and no one detected anything remotely close to what this mechanic wanted to charge me again to finally fix the car. I ended up paying $600 - Credit card in dispute. If that doesn't give me my hard earned money back, I'll take legal action against these scammers. read more

Shockingly awful, easily the worst shop I've ever used. The last time I picked up my car from Star Autosport, the entire bottom half of my bumper was gone. I had to point it out. The mechanic expressed surprise and then told me that maybe I brought it in like that. He finally called Albert and then told me, "Oh, yes. Now, I remember." Albert noticed it a couple hours earlier and they discussed it. So why was he so surprised now? Yet Albert said nothing when he told me I could pick up my car nor did anyone else when I arrived within the hour. I let him talk. He said someone must have hit my car while it was parked on the street overnight and taken the bumper to remove the evidence. I asked to see the security footage as my car was parked right in front of their cameras but that was ignored. They finally agreed to replace the bumper so I let it go. Star fixed it the next week while I waited. That day, I saw my old bumper in their shop and they admitted one of their guys had an accident in my car they covered up. Resolved? No. A couple weeks later, I saw that my car was missing about $600 in parts. I called and was immediately told that I brought it in like that. Just like my bumper. More specifically, they claimed that the first time I brought my car in, a few months earlier, Albert noticed the missing parts and we had a conversation about it. Incorrect. We never had a conversation and I know the parts were there because, the second to last time I picked up my car, after they released it to me, a mechanic stopped me as I was driving away because he had not yet put those exact parts back on yet. Then I watched him do it in the street. Okay, fine, mistakes are made but how do they get addressed? It's been 3 months. I have yet to speak with Albert and I have a number of emails that go nowhere. Almost two months ago I was told they ordered half the parts for me and then communication stopped. I kept trying. A month later, finally a response. Yes we ordered the parts. I've been asking when I can get them but I've heard nothing back. I'm guessing the $600 in parts can be replaced by them for far less than the retail price yet they're willing to stick it to a previously cooperative and understanding customer over that small amount of money. You should know that. Do you want a shop that breaks your car, fails to put your car back together, and lies? Star might be the shop for you. Oh, wait. There's more. After I started asking for my parts back, they presented me with an additional ~$1000 bill. Not only was I blindsided by these charges I never knew about nor authorized, they haven't put the parts back on my car. By that, I mean they didn't finish the work they are charging me for. I suppose it may be partly my fault in that I let them do that to me one other time earlier in the year when I walked in to pay a $300 bill that ended up closer to $800 because I trusted them. My husband had his Mercedes Benz rear ended last week. There was some good damage to the back bumper and headrest. My friend referred us to Star Auto Sport in Westwood (ask for Albert). He needed to fix the car quickly because he had meetings in Vegas the next day. Albert said no problem, and Fereydoun the mechanic got right on it. He fixed the car that day and also performed a complete diagnostic analysis of the vehicle to make sure that everything was up to par. They were effecient, polite, and professional. I took my 2007 E350 in for issues with the transmission/valve body. I took my car here because a friend had recommended this place. Unfortunately they didn't come close to living up to the billing. I took my car in at least 4-5 times to get my car serviced for the same exact thing. Every time I picked up my car, I was promised that it was fixed. It would usually take a few days for the problem with reoccur. Finally, after feeling like the mechanic didn't really have a clue on how to fix the problem, I asked for a full refund, which he gave me. Besides my friend recommending this place, I figured I'd save money by not going to the dealer. As it turned out, I took it to the dealer, who resolve the issue 2 days eg. valve body, speed senser, and it cost me the same as this mechanic was charging!! One of the occassions, he had my car and he told me that it would be ready at the end of the day. I have a friend drive me across town to the shop just to find out that my car wasn't ready... needless to say, I was pissed because I felt he could have called and told me not to come because my car wasn't ready. The last honest mechanic in town. Took my car in after Pep Boys twice said they had fixed the issue (my windshield wiper fluid wouldn't spray) only to have it still not work. They took my info, remembered my wife had been there 3 years earlier for an issue, fixed my car and had it all done in 2 hours. Best yet, they didn't charge me a thing, since the issue was really small. I tried to pay but they weren't having anything of it. Good people who deserve all the business they get (and more). This yelp review spans over a decade (13+ years) and tracks my relationship with one of the most outstanding, honest, and trustworthy automobile service and repair centers in West LA. My relationship with Star Autosports (Star) began in 2001 with the incredible work they did on my first BMW 3 series. Jump to 2015 & the recent amazing service & repair done to my new M3 shows that they are the only place in LA to bring your European imports. Back in 01 I spent my entire life savings at 15.5 on my first car after years of saving money from my job working at Best Buy in Westwood. I ended up getting screwed over & hustled by Kar Plus Warehouse. I purchased a 94 328is (salvaged title) that was only able to run the distance from the dealership to my house before it completely broke down & overheated. With my manila envelope full of sweaty hundreds they saw me coming a mile away, & were able to get rid of a cosmetically beautiful car that was mechanically worthless. It was sold to me with a cracked head gasket & a completely broken radiator/radiator housing and fuel injector. Fortunately I did purchase the extended warranty and Albert at Star dutifully and PATENTLY dealt with both my absolutely bat sh** crazy parents (who were no where to be found when I was taking the bus from Westwood to Kar Plus Warehouse in Glendale) & with the extended warranty company. Albert's work on the car was AMAZING and my little 3 series went from not being able to stay running for more than 10min without the engine smoking & potentially exploding to being the most reliable car I have ever owned. After being worked on at Star & having extremely serious and critical components serviced and repaired the BMW ran like a little German tank & was able to easily handle the next 5 years of non stop high school/teenager driving. The work done by Star made the reliability & dependability of that car the stuff of legend among me and my old friends from Pali. Before I left for college I ended up giving it to my gardeners wife who I found out was taking the bus from Sun Valley to Beverly hills every morning & spending 8+ hours on her commute. A testament to BMW engineering & Albert & Frank & the team at Star the car has 230k miles & is still driven everyday without incident. Now fast forward to 2015 I am out of college & commuting to work everyday 70 miles round trip. I come into ownership of another BMW 3 series, a 2005 E46 M3 (the e46 M3 is my dream car ever since I purchased that 94 E36 328is in 2001) that I buy off my brother in law for what I thought was a great deal. I get this beautiful gunmetal grey super cherry M3 home & sure enough the next day on my way to work the thing completely breaks down & is not drivable. I am getting all sorts of faults & failure lights in the dash console & having a mental breakdown on the side of the 405 while I fantasize about how I could kill my brother in law & get away with it. Jk. I take the car to a few people on the west side and in the valley, who are highly recommended. I am getting all sorts of diagnosis and bills with conflicting reasons for the cars issues. I was at my absolute wits end; having spent a good amount of money & time, missing work, fighting with my brother in law I was thinking of cutting my losses & getting rid of it. Thankfully I remembered back to 13+ years ago and I thought I would give it one last shot at getting the M3 repaired by Star. As soon as I got to Star Frank sat with me inside my broken M3 and using a huge tablet he went through all the engine fault codes one by one, taking the time to explain each possible issue and patiently answering all my questions. The time he was giving me & my preliminary engine diagnosis was already 100 x anything I had experienced with other mechanics or service centers. Everyone at Star Auto Sports has a level of communication, professionalism and business ethics that sadly is unheard of with most mechanics/repair and service centers in LA. After spending all this time going through the fault codes, Frank then took me for a thorough road test. I realized that with all of the other places Id been I couldn't even get a road test after I had paid them & the repair hade been made much less in a preliminary assessment. Frank went above and beyond to figure out what was going on with my car. At Star & with Frank's patience, and exceptional expertise he was of course finally able to properly diagnose and repair the M3. His work rebuilding my vanos was impeccable and highly detailed, and when I got the car back it was in better condition than the day it was driven off the lot. My brother in law tried to buy it back from me after a quick drive around the block and now whether I am in grid lock traffic or going 110 on the 118 the car runs flawlessly. I've written a review before, but after the past few visits to Star AutoSport, I had to write another. I realize there are multiple places to take one's car in SoCal (because I've been there, done that), but there's no reason to go anywhere but Star Autosport. Albert, Rachel & Co. have serviced my car's repair needs for several years now and they're the absolute best -- not just in repairs, but in customer service. And they're not going to charge you the moon for the privilege. The past couple of months with me and the car have been exhausting: from the emergency radiator issue (Vahe waited over an hour after-hours to make sure I got towed in okay -- and on his mother's birthday no less) and the engine diagnostics they offered -- with options for my wallet -- to the quick assessment on repairs when I knocked off my with the side view mirror cover on the garage (Ugh!). But Albert made it all better -- and Rachel is just peaches. Me and my "Lola" are always very happy here. They really are as good as it gets. read more

A great mechanic who know's what he is doing. I've spent the past 3 years going to an independent shop in Irvine, and was sad to have to find a new place after moving to Westwood. Found this place through yelp, gave them a call when they opened, and they were awesome enough to work on my car on a Saturday (which they normally use to finish jobs, not start new ones). Needed new brakes and rotors for my 2008 BMW E92. I'd been dreading bringing it in, as I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but was surprised at how honest the guys at this shop were. Albert went over everything that needed to be done, gave me options on what parts I wanted used (including OEM parts) and completed the work in a very timely fashion. Very please with work, and would recommend them to anyone looking for an independent shop that knows how to work with german cars. read more

TLDR: Did some work badly, charged for more that they didn't do. Had this shop do a PPI and some minor things on an old car I recently bought. The work and communications weren't good, so I didn't plan to go back, but after a few weeks I realized the service was much worse than it seemed at first. The initial inspection seemed fair enough, but in the week between this and when I had scheduled the work, it became clear that the car was running way too hot. After I brought it in, they eventually found that the coil had a clog. This should have been found in the PPI, but wasn't. In any case, I added the repair to the maintenance we'd planned (fluids: brake flush, oil, coolant, diff/gear, and a sealed beam headlight replacement). The work was started and they later got back to me about the radiator, that it was no longer available but could be recored by a shop they knew, who had quoted $600 plus labor. This seemed pretty unreasonable, since the radiator for this engine (BMW m10) was interchangeable with models across about 25 years. When I suggested this, they told me to find one myself. So I called around and had a new one sent over for $200. They installed it and completed the other work. When I was picking it up I asked for a ballpark to replace a half-shaft/noisy cv and got quoted over $1000. Given that a rebuild or replacement costs a couple hundred, and labor takes maybe two hours, I decided not to follow up on this. They also hadn't done the fluids for the trans and diff. Not happy, but I figured I'd just call it a day with this shop. Over the next few days and weeks, I noticed that the headlight had never been replaced, and though they said the brakes were all good after the inspection and flush, the front right wasn't locking up. Most recently, I found that they had left an electric cooling fan unmounted in front of the radiator. It was still hooked up, and if it had been flipped on by the thermostat, could have easily torn up the new radiator. Overall, I was invoiced at $800 for a bunch of work, some of which wasn't done and others done pretty badly. read more

He's very busy but he will do anything he can to work with you. Pricing is very reasonable, and location is also convenient. This place has a pretty decent main mechanic. The problems are as follows: it is a little overpriced, the 3 jobs were Not done in timely fashion , I had an issue with one of the repairs, and the location and parking are horrrific. I should also add that because all of the cars are piled up there and there is only 1 small entrance to pull into - it is a blind reverse to get out of the premises or to drive off after a repair. Of the about 13 times I was there about 10 of the time I HAD TO ASK someone to help me back into the street a so as not to cause a Wreck. This even when management/ownership was standing right there jabbering to someone else or into the phone a few times. I noticed with others it was hit or miss as to whether they help a customer pull out blindly. I stopped going there obviously. read more
