Lousy service with plenty of excuses. Waited over 1 1/2 hrs for our food. Would not recommend.

We've been here a few times and have enjoyed every time. It's clean, staff friendly, food good, and the prices reasonable. We especially like the restrictions on children not being allowed without a parent into R rated movies. We will be back. read more

Was a favorite destination for my family to go see all the newest movies, even though the food they serve is absolutely disgusting that's why we mainly ordered popcorn and drinks. After a (surprising) new rule the owner doesn't allow children under 3 anymore so my family will never see another movie there again!!! read more

The bathroom and the lobby are the nicest parts of this location. Seating is like the old theatre that was here before it and seats are okay but patrons are squished behind tables and chairs do not recline. We frequent this location often food is as good as the local Chili's, but drinks and food service always takes awhile even if you order early. Seems like they keep minimal staff and do not expect a refill on a drink. Bar are is neat. They keep it clean and cool and we will continue to go there just wish theatre chairs had different levels instead of a flat layout. read more

This is my new go to Movie spot! Quite pricey but you're paying for some serious options here folks. I'm talking multiple salads, with multiple dressings AND any of them can be turned into a wrap with fries. #BOOM for us Pescatarians and Vegetarians (Sorry Vegans, y'all kinda on your own). The family dug into the samplers, sweet potato fries, chips/salsa, fried pickles, cheese sticks. The fried pickles were actually spears and done well. Beer selection was cool beans too, Blue Moon, 8th Wonder, Karbach, but again, PRICEY. The wine selection was about the same. Margaritas had enough kick to notice and that's a true compliment from me. The bathrooms were really small, like no urinals or handicapped stall (maybe I missed them?). Bottom line, we'll be back because it blows the local competition out the water! read more

this place is so great we love coming to see movies here! The service, food, cleanliness and recliners are the best in town. its so convenient to order tickets online, choose your seats and just walk in to check in and enjoy the show. you can tell the management here is on top of things, the servers are prompt and friendly and the food is amazing! try the loaded fries, frozen jack and coke, bacon cheeseburger or the sliders- hamburgers and pulled pork yum! and the chicken quesadillas with homemade guacamole are my favorite. read more

The food here is actually pretty good. I've been here multiple times and have been happy with my food every time. The potato skins and fried pickles are my favorite! The fresh baked cookies were a pleasant surprise when they melted in my mouth. You can also pick up movie tickets on Groupon for $5.00 which works out great. So, I decided to try this place out last night for dinner and a movie. It was clean, the staff was friendly, and the seats were comfy. The dinner was another story...the food was horrible and all we had was salad, edamame and fries. How in the world do you mess that up?? I live nearby, and have gone to Star Cinema since they bought out the sticky old urine-scented Pine Hollow Cinema. The initial renovations were very nice, and the recent ones are even better, with very roomy comfortable seats, generous legroom, a lovely spacious bar area and beautiful bathrooms. But the service leaves room for improvement. During the recent makeover, the policy was apparently to oversell seats and then give refunds. I spoke with the manager and was told patrons were advised to arrive 45 minutes early to ensure they could get a seat. I had purchased tickets 2 hours ago at the window and was not informed of this. On my most recent visit, all of the waitstaff seemed new and unfamiliar with the menu. The items all have interesting punny names, which were copied exactly onto the order tickets. We ordered Popcornopolis Gourmet Popcorn, a caramel/chocolate covered version, and got a large vat of regular popcorn. I ordered Cheesecake Factory Cupcakes, and was repeatedly asked if I wanted strawberry topping or chocolate syrup. The cupcakes were freezing cold. My iced tea had no ice, and came with no sugar packets. My Southwest Wrap came without the avocado cream sauce, which made for a dry, unappealing wrap. The thought of presenting such a laundry list of complaints to management in person was exhausting. My husband got his standard Nachos Libre and was satisfied. The fried pickles are always good. Stick with bar food and you'll probably be okay, but the entire point is to get dinner and a movie at the same place. After spending $25 on tickets and $50 on food, I've had enough. Driving to the Woodlands is worth it if I can get better, cheaper food and more than 4 movies to choose from. read more

Before coming to Houston, my wife and I loved to go to Alamo Drafthouse back in San Antonio and Austin, then the only Alamo Drafthouse house closest to the area was changed to Star Cinema Grill; and we are talking about the Vintage Park location; we been at that Star Cinema location several times and we loved it as well. This time for distance convenience we went to the Conroe location...unfortunately it was not what we expected and I have to be honest we did not have high expectations but when we have a few recommendations, Star Cinema needs to be consistent with their amenities such as All reclining seats...Cinemark has all reclining seats, you need to offer at least one popcorn refill for the price and size of the large popcorn...$5.50 for a large popcorn that is actually way much smaller of the large size at Cinemark and less saltier as well, something funny was walking to the Men's restroom and not seeing urinals only stalls...for a second I thought I had gone into the Ladies restroom, and last but not least we had a little of a pushy server trying to get our signed bill, just leave it and we customers will sign it later at the end off the movie. I was really surprised at how modern this place looks inside! Don't judge a book by its cover! The upgraded seats are huge and plush and comfortable- and they recline! Our waitress was super fast and efficient, and while our food took a little time to come out, we felt it was because it was all prepared fresh. We had the "Nachos Libre" which were DELICIOUS as well as the pulled pork sandwich and chicken tenders. All were good! Their beer and wine menu was also decent, though we did not partake. This place only has a few screens, so the movies they show, and their showtimes can be a bit limited, but all of the blockbuster hits seem to be shown. My only critique would be to update their website- while the information they give is accurate, sometimes it can be a little difficult to navigate through. This place is a great theatre, even if you don't plan on getting dinner with your show. read more

REALLY like the new seats! Definitely a huge upgrade! They recline and are much more comfortable than the old ones. The menu is average fare, better than average for a movie theater. The food is pretty good, better than I expected. Good atmosphere for watching movies. Quiet and dark. The staff are usually very nice. The theater is kept reasonably clean. I'll be back. I like being pampered. Keep in mind, this is NOT the dollar cinema. If you want someone to wait on you hand and foot bringing you tasty munchies and ice cold beer while you watch your movie in the comfort of a recliner, then this is your place. If you just want the cheapest way to spend a couple of hours away from home, go to the dollar movies. read more

Upgraded seating is amazing, food is great (please bring back the Gyros sandwich), sound & picture quality good (sometimes can hear neighboring theater base or explosions). My husband and I went on March 7th to the 3:15 showing of the Batman. We were really excited about going for our day date. We get there 30 minutes before the movie starts so that we could order and eat before the lights go down. When we got there it was a ghost town, no one in sight. No one at the ticket stand, no bartender not a soul. Luckily we bought our tickets online, finally someone comes out and looks at our tickets and points us in the right direction of the movie. We press the button to call the server, it took the server about 15 minutes to get to us. She shows up we order our food and drinks... great....cool. So it's 2 minutes before the movie starts, still no food. Alright no big deal. They then bring my husbands food, but not mine....I thought hmm that's a little odd because they always bring the food together, my food should be right out then maybe something wasn't quite ready yet. 20 minutes go by still NO food I press the button to see where my food is, it takes her another 10 minutes to answer the button. I ask hi I was just wondering where my food is? She leaves again to find out 10 more minutes pass and my food finally comes. The man goes I'm so sorry about that wait. We were about 30 minutes into the movie at this point. I had been waiting for over an hour for my food. When they bring our check I asked if I could talk to a manager she says "oh yes I'll go get them" 30 minutes later she comes back to get my card I again ask to speak to a manager " oh absolutely let me go get her" no one comes. The movie ends we walk out the girl sees us and goes "oh let me go get the manager." The manager FINALLY shows up her name was Lauren. I told her the situation and she goes "I've been here since 9am and I can tell you that you didn't wait that long for a server to come and I've also been in the kitchen all day and we've had NO hour long wait for any food. I'm not trying to call you a liar or anything, but I know that did not happen. So I say "If you're not calling me a liar and those things didn't happen then what are you trying to say." She says "I'm saying that what you just said didn't happen" so she called me a liar and tried to say that everything that I said was wrong. She told me that she would comp my drinks and give me free movie passes in a very passive aggressive way. As she's comping our drinks her and the servers were over there laughing at us. She comes back over after running our card she tosses our card and receipt on the couch and walks away. She never even gave us our free tickets which is fine seeing as how we won't return there again. Lauren was extremely rude and unprofessional. Maybe she needs to go back and retake some managing classes to refresh her memory on customer service. read more

No kids running around unattended, letting each other in the back door like at the Grande. Perfect for a relaxing evening and we love being able to reserve specific seats. My pizza was very good but my sons standard cheese had very little cheese so I was disappointed since this was his first experience at Star in Conroe. Overall it was very good with the exception of the pizza but my son was okay with the pizza but next time I will say something if it comes out looking like hardly any cheese was put on the pizza....half the pizza was puffed up without any cheese..... read more

My husband and I decided to try this place out because we wanted to do the whole eat and watch a movie thing. I enjoyed being able to pre purchase tickets online and simultaneously choose our seats. We arrived 20 mins before the movie started. The theater seemed nice, decor was modern and I thought this place was going to be a hit. Then enter our waiter. He was so rude and was cutting my husband and I off when we were telling him out order. He was really rude to the group of ladies sitting next to us. She waited a long time for her dessert and when he brought it to her she said "oh finally" and he replied " better late than never". Kinda shocked he was so enthusiastic to argue. Worst service we've ever had here. Might need to find another place to enjoy a meal and a movie. Waitress took forever to get our drink order, even after I pushed the call button (waited 15+ min to push the button, then waited another 20 min before she finally came. We placed our drink order, our appetizer order and our dinner all at the same time. Watched as people who ordered after us got their drinks and appetizers before us. Then they brought my main course, but forgot the side order of mayo that I had requested when I ordered it, then they brought my daughter's order and our appetizers... I told the delivery person as nicely as I could to take the appetizer back and take it off our bill because it was supposed to be brought out well before our main course. Asked for the side of mayo and some napkins (were t brought out with any of our food...Hello? And had to wait 15 min for that even...)..He was like, "so you don't want it?" Duh! Took advantage of a Groupon and went to see a movie here. There were no lines which is a big plus. Parking was a bit of a hike, but that is true at most theaters. Inside the theater was pretty nice. Plenty of room between tables and seats and not crowded by your neighbors. Seats were not very comfortable in my opinion. They did not recline at all so we were stuck sitting upright and straight the entire time. Staff was friendly and prompt with their service. They need to put in better seating though to make it more comfortable to sit through an entire movie. read more

Terrible service! The managers are no help and the movies are so loud. Your ears are bleeding in the first five minutes. I had to track down management and plead for them to lower the volume even with other patrons complaining. The food made me and my date very ill. The food wasn't tasty, either. Items on the menu are out of stock by 7:00pm on a Friday. They do not give you the proper silverware and condiments for your meal. There were no paper towels in the bathroom. Over all, I will not be going back. Stay away. A normal theater tavern is more preferable. read more

Decent little spot over in Conroe, great food(Giant portions!)and a very clean classy establishment. Be advised they do charge you for drink refills so go easy on the ice teas! A good place to take a date, friends/coworkers for a good time. A big improvment over the previous theatre that was in this part years ago. I'd say be prepared to spend $50-$60 for dinner & a movie for 2. Not somewhere I'd go all the time but definitely worth it every now & then. Gotta recommend the steak nachos & the cheeseburgers are awesome too! read more

Won't be going to the grand anymore for my night out to the movies. They have comfortable seats, clean environment, good friendly staff, reasonably priced food (good tasting too), and if you go on Tuesdays, the adult tickets are only $6 each and also 45 cent wings. The sound system is good too. In fact, it's much better than the grand. and best of all; there's no screaming kids or teenagers running around the lobby or texting and calling during a movie. Overall it's a much better experience than you will ever get from the grand. read more

Wonderful experience & fantastic staff!! My husband & I don't get out much as he works so much & we have 3 youngsters at home. The place was nice & clean, waitstaff excellent, w/ honest, caring management & cleaning crew!! My husband lost his wallet there last night & I called first thing this morning leaving a message. Mgr called me as soon as he got to work & said the cleaning crew found his wallet last night & were very concerned about the safety of it as my husband had a lot of cash in because he had just cashed his paycheck that evening. Everything was as it was & we couldn't be more thankful!! Goes to show that all the "paying it forward" we've done really has a ripple effect!! We usually go to The Grand theater, but not anymore! Our primary theater is now Star Cinema Grill!! Thank u all so much for a wonderful experience!! We are loyal patrons for life!! read more

So disappointed. Went to take the kids to see a movie for CHILDREN. When we walked in we were told I could not bring My 1 year old in, no children under 3 in a matinee filled with nothing but moms and kids. I will never be back and encourage others not to either. The general manger was very rude!!!!! Walked in with my two month old baby and got told i couldn't have her in the movie theater that there was a complaint about a crying baby but she was asleep never cried so he was lying. read more

After asking for Ranch six times from different people finally got it 45 minutes later when the manger was asked , my brother-in-law's burger came out eventually after an hour after our food and the manger reordered it after three attempts to get the order correct of adding bacon once the bacon was finally brought out the burger was cold because it was almost 20 minutes later the manager only offered to comp the burger even after having to walk out of the The theater once again because the bacon was forgotten after the manager took the order for the second time, then was rudely interrupted by the manager about paying for the rest of the bill that was brought out and untimely and incorrect during the movie in front of guest!!! They gave a couple of coupons that we're asked to be returned after we told them that they ruined our movie and dinner experience especially when a cop was there with the general manger was asked for this all happened with my 12 yr old niece standing there!! Completely unbelievable!! I would Not suggest going there unless you don't mind your food being wrong and then if you ask any questions ,a cop and a manager will meet you at the lobby on your way out of theatre, so unnecessary completely unbelievable will never go back to this establishment!!! And the free ticket pass we're asked to be handed back!! Just wow !! I go to the movies every other weekend if not every week. Sometimes I go to new theaters and this is by far the WORST one I've visited in the past 4 years. Let's start with the bathrooms.. there is no reason my brother should be slipping on URINE. Following I ordered something and didn't receive it until the END of the movie. On top of that they forgot an order that my friend placed and wanted to REPLACE it with popcorn after she asked a server where her food was, went down and asked the server where her food was and they still made no effort to bring out the burger but instead replace it. When I was leaving I went to go get my card outside so I can just go instead of waiting on the waiter and he handed it with an attitude. He didn't say the usual that servers say "have a good night " or "drive home safe" he just handed it to a random person in our group and rolled his eyes and walked away instead of handing me MY CARD. It was just a bunch of things that added up and for that reason I don't recommend this place. Go to a theater where you will get good service. read more
