I was waiting for a friend to arrive, so I went to the bar to see my options. 2:45 PM on a Saturday, the bar staff was tending to BTS duties and I had to wait for her to appear in the bar. Very nice, polite, and professional; she was happy to answer all of my questions. The new decor since the name change is beautiful. I am excited to see Thunderbolts! I went to Star cinema grill in Missouri City. I used to frequent this theater when they opened more than 10 years ago. But haven't been back for a while since now there are theaters closer. The inside has gotten a facelift and yes new furniture in the waiting area/bar. The bad is mostly the same, but they do have new/additional types of liquor. I tried the drink they are promoting, thunder punch. I have to say it was GREAT! But, @ $15.00 it should be!! The large popcorn is $10.00 and define not worth buying! It was cold and a bit stale! My pet peeve for theaters is cleanliness and this one was clean. The power reclining chairs are great! Unfortunately, mine had to be out of alignment it makes a loud rubbing noise when in use. BYW the movie is dope, remember to wait for the end of the credits! Yes, like for all MCU movies! I had already purchased online, so check-in was easy. Then you go deeper inside, and there's all the theaters. Came here to enjoy a matinee movie with my old man for his bday. Oppenheimer, the movie was great, would recommend. This theater is deceptively larger than it looks. It has a large bar and tables to sit and enjoy before or after a show. Once you arrive at your designated theater, there's comfortable plush seats that recline. One can press a button for servers to order food/drink while you enjoy the movie with a large table infront of the seats. We didn't get a menu beforehand. I guess we were supposed to look online beforehand? Not sure. But the server was patient, as I verbally asked for suggestions and offerings. Drinks - I ordered a mango Rita for myself, and it was delicious. And I ordered a cherry Icee for dad. About $20 for both. Overall, great experience, I would come back. read more

The long entrance to the ticket booth gave me a feeling from the movie the shinning. But that doesn't matter. We had a great time and it was my son's first experience at a theater. We ordered popcorn (in a bowl) pizza/wings and drinks and the food was good. The service was great and the theater was comfortable. One suggestion I would make is to pack a blanket. Lobby is very nice and had some drinks at the bar before entering our movie. The movie tickets for two came to $59.60. When we entered the theater after cleaning, we noticed Popcorn strewn behind our two seats (vip seats). There were sticky stains on the arms of the seats. Wife went to talk with the manager and they dispached a person who sprayed some solution on the arms and wiped the chair (not very well I might add). So we order. I had the Chicken Pico with Steamed Broccoli and wife had the Love Me Tenders. She ordered a wine, I had a liquor and a Diet Coke. They don't time the service there very well. Wife's drink came but not mine. Then they brought the liquor. I mentioned that I also had a Diet Coke. They bring it out about 15min later without a straw (after seeing other drinks with straws). So I requested the straw and about 10min later got that. Then the movie starts and the food begins to arrive. Wifes meal was brought out but not mine. I had to wait another 20min before my order arrived (even after asking where it was). When it came, it was the Chicken Pico with Queso and Chips!! I took the plate down to the serving area and mentioned that the order was incorrect and I had steamed broccoli with the order. The girl seemed to not understand what I was sayiing so I repeated. "the order was incorrect and I was supposed to have steamed broccoli". She said okay, so I went back to the movie. Wife was eating and I'm still waiting. Then a server comes by and picks up my silverware!! I'm like okay maybe they're going to bring it all out together again. So I waited, and waited, and waited and never did get my food!! We left the movie about 45min into the picture as for us the experience was ruined!! We explained to the manager what had occurred and he was nice enough to refund our movie tickets as well as meals (one of which we did not get). Only thing we were charged for were our drinks which makes sense. Star theater used to be great!! But it has gone downhill in cleanliness, service, drink and food quality. Prices are very high. We learned a great lesson. We'll stay home from now on and stream the movie in the comfort of our home which is clean, comfortable, and we know our service will be outstanding. I have been to watch a movie here twice before and my experience was great especially with the food service they have (a table between your cinema chairs where you can order food and it is served as you click on a button there the menu has a QR code that you can scan) I went last night to watch a movie with my husband and it's been a while since we last went here I was quite disappointed as the popcorn was stale, there was no butter and the French fries were cold and some of them not fried well! Very disappointing experience I must say. The ambiance of this cinema overall is good because they have a nice bar inside before the theatre hall. I took my son to his first ever movie theater experience. We watched Lilo and Stitch. He got a pizza and I had the Caesar salad with chicken. It tasted fine but unfortunately I ended up getting really bad food poisoning. Nobody else in my family got sick, and we all ate the same thing, minus my salad. I called to speak with the manager, but I got voicemail. I didn't call to complain but wanted to offer some suggestions for a better customer experience. I left a message but didn't receive a return call. The waiters were also not attentive-maybe because of the 18% tip that's included. Ambiance is still good from what I remember from visiting before Covid. I won't be returning anytime soon and definitely will be staying away from the salad. read more

My first time to any Star Cinema and it was a delight! Plenty of parking in the shopping center and when you walk in, the decor is beautiful, clean, and so spacious! I feel like movie theaters can sometimes feel cramped, but I didn't feel this at all at SCG. My friend and I arrived early and enjoyed drinks and popcorn at the bar before our movie. The staff was friendly and great with answering our questions. In the movie, it was cold! I liked it, but should have brought a blanket. The food was also delicious, but we went on a Friday in Lent so couldn't eat meat; I would have liked to see 1-2 more non meat dishes (fish and chips or fried shrimp). My friend and I got late night tickets to see Venom: The Last Dance. We love going here because we can order a full meal to enjoy while watching our movie. Things started out fine until I walked into the restroom. It was so warm in there! That's the last place you want that much warmth. Before the movie started, I ordered the sliders (half beef and half pulled pork) with a side of sweet potato fries instead of the regular fries and a soda. My friend ordered the garlic parm wings and the usual suspects pizza. My food came out wrong; his order came to him right. Why! I received regular fries instead of sweet potato fries and no pulled pork sliders; all beef. If it wasn't going to come to me the right way, why offer it to me. When I have a craving for something, I want what I want and I wanted the sweet potato fries. So, I sent the regular fries back but didn't mind keeping the sliders. For once it wasn't freezing in the theater. I usually bring a blanket in with me because it's sometimes so cold. But why was I STILL warm! Even to the point where I was almost in a sweat! I mentioned it to my friend and he said he was warm too. Thank God, because I was beginning to think it was just me! Mind you, it was about 80 degrees outside and it wasn't until about an hour into the movie, that it started cooling off. Even though those little issues happened, I'm sure we'll go back before December but if we have a similar problem the next time, I can't guarantee that it'll be something we'll want to continue to put up with. There's no reason to be uncomfortable watching a movie that you paid $14 for...well, not me..but you get what I'm saying Lol! read more

Gave a tip on top of that because I didn't realize my total already included a 25% gratuity automatically with the meal order. That hasn't happened in the past. I've heard so much about Star Cinema Grill, and after visiting, I now understand the hype. It's a really beautiful theater, with great seating, service and equally great food. I have been to other theaters that offer this sort of restaurant/theater hybrid, and so far, this has to be towards the top for this sort of venue. What an experience!! My son and I treated my husband to a birthday dinner and movie and it was amazing! For "movie" food, it was pretty good! We really enjoyed drink refills and my favorite food were the chicken strips!! The service was great! They made us comfortable and served us even in the dark!! Every time I have gone here and ordered food and drinks my bill is wrong. Pay attention to your final bill, unless you have deep pockets and you don't care about incorrect add on items being on your tab. 1st of all I really don't like having to pay in advance, nor provide my credit card upon ordering and not at the end of the movie. That being said, I was not told drink refills were free until I had been here a few times. I was told at that time small drink refills were free. The next time I was told all drink refills were free. I was charged for each small refill. Grands had 3 refills and I was charged for 6 drinks and not 3. On another occasion the wait staff brought me a sweet tea instead of unsweet, when I pointed it out and requested usweet tea instead, I was charged $6 for each one. We won't be back to this location. We were in theater 8 recently and it had a very strong unpleasant odor. It smelled like a sweaty locker room or mold. They now also add an automatic 18% gratuity to any food or drink order.
