Very nasty staff, I have been waiting for the approval of my insurance for a small filling, but the K bitch they sent a request for crown and denture that I do not need, and my insurance denied it, then they sent another, I have to F wait for another 3-4 weeks for the approval, this is F up. He wants to make more money from my insurance. The dentist himself is very F. rude. I have a very bad experience with this dentist office. I got booked the same week I called. I am a new patient. I went into Star Dental on Friday for two fillings, the appointment felt rushed. Later in the day when I brushed and flossed it was almost impossible to floss between to two teeth. I couldn't get a piece of floss through! When I left I had doubts and concerns about the quality and outcome of the shape of the teeth he preformed on being that the appointment was so fast. On Monday one fell out. He also made a an inappropriate comment about "getting a Tahoe truck and filling it up with drugs and crossing the boarder" if I got tired of my 9-5 job which I thought was weird to say being that my husband was in the operating room with me and he is full Mexican. I was questioning if he had said that because he was being racist? I won't be returning or recommending. Stay away. Maybe that's why I got an appointment so quickly, and why the office is empty every time, I should have looked at the reviews first. All the negative comments are correct and confirmed. Trust the negative reviews. I don't have an issue with the staff they are very nice. It's the dentist. He was late to every appointment and instead of examining the actual xrays. He kept asking which tooth, this one no? Is it this one, ok? Well I need to extract or crown it. He also needs a hygienist to take care of the cleanings not do it himself. I went to show my brother's cleaning to my dentist and he said this is a disappointment for us to pay for a poor cleaning. Out to get people's money. Everything always feels rush and careless. Dr. Chen is a lying, piece of money grubbing crap. He insults people's intelligence, has no integrity, and his work does not last. I paid 4200 cash for 4 crowns which he filed my natural healthy teeth down to nothing (which I questioned while he was doing so) He Ignored me & sanded more. So you know what happened? DO NOT GO HERE! the people that work at the front desk are unprofessional and rude. they always have an attitude. He has dental assistants that don't know what they are doing. One of his assistants damaged my tooth and when I came in to have it fixed he told me they didn't damage my tooth when I have proof they did. He also refused to help me & told me to leave. He claims I have a balance when I had my last appointment with him they didn't mention it at all. If I had a balance why didn't they mention it before I was seen at my last appointment which they are supposed to do? Star Dental is very good place to get work done, as you know this one of the most comments locations as grocery, gas station, massage and laundry. ETC. I was with different dentist before and was really need to find a decent one, western dental was the worse , I visited their 4 locations, I wasted my time and money and disappointed. Of all the dentist office I had visited, I have to say that this has been the best one and here is why; PROS: Dr. Chen is an awesome dentist and he KNOWS YOU BY YOUR NAME, without looking @ your medical record first, now how awesome is that :). The waiting time to be seen is, oh wait!! There is really no waiting time, the last time I was there I only waited for 15 min. The take most insurance except medical, they also have financing available. Since I started coming here a few months ago I HAVE NEVER BEEN CHARGE A CO-PAYMENT, scheduling appointments is really easy and they also text you appointment reminders a few weeks before your appointment and the day before your appointment, the office staff is super friendly and they all know you by your name too. What more can you ask for :) CONS: Yes, yes the office is not located in the safest part of Stockton but honestly nowadays there is really no safe place left in Stockton, another con for me will be that the office is not open on Thursdays and on Saturdays they pretty much only take emergency appointments, but other than that this office is definitely worth checking out. read more

We have used Star Dental twice now. Dr. Chen and staff are all friendly and conscientious. It's a small office in a strip Mall..but comfortable, very clean. We were able to get a next day appointment. We had a brief wait but not bad at all. They took care of everything promptly. My husband was very relaxed and comfortable with Dr. Chen and staff. The visit was 109% pain free. I would highly recommend Dr. Chen to anyone needing a dentist for themselves or their family. Honest and reasonable which I highly value. read more

Dr.Chen and his staff are great! I've been a patient at Star Dental for about 10 years. There was a brief period that I changed insurance companies (what I thought was to save money)...that's a story for another time, but I was so happy that Dr.Chen accepted United Healthcare. He is definitely the best dentist I have seen in 15 years. They really take time to create a care plan that is affordable and manageable; they are gentile when performing procedures and Dr.Chen explains what is going to occur beforehand; their facility is clean/sterile; the room temperature is perfect; staff are friendly, experienced and professional. They adhere to all state/Federal regulations especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They are flexible and even kept my appt. when I was 20 minutes late. I highly recommend this dental practice. I have the best experience EVERY visit and have not experienced any anxiety before or during my appointment. I went to Star Dental during the pandemic with a broken tooth. I was assessed and told I needed $2,800 in work done. I put $2,500 on Care Credit and began the work. Part of the treatment plan was for a deep clean of my entire mouth. I wasn't told why I needed the deep clean - it was explained that because of my age and the fact that I had never had a deep clean, I needed it. I was always under the impression that these deep cleanings took a bit of time and would leave your mouth a little sore. When Dr. Chen himself did the deep cleanings, I could hardly feel a thing and they didn't take long at all. No soreness afterwards. I recently relocated to another State and found a new amazing dental office. During my initial exam, they said I had periodontal disease and would need a deep clean. I explained that in 2020, I had a deep clean by Dr. Chen. They were shocked because they saw no evidence that I received this service. They explained periodontal disease and showed pictures on a large screen of my mouth and photos of what periodontal disease looks like. I told them what it felt like when Dr. Chen did the so-called deep cleaning. Yeah, not good. So I paid to have this procedure done the correct way. First with hand instruments, then a cavitron, then a laser. I could actually tell I was deep cleaned. I feel Dr. Chen completely ripped me off when I was in a vulnerable emergency situation. He did not explain periodontal disease to me much less how to take care of it. His girls that used to be at the front desk are no longer there and he now has a clueless male answering the phones that doesn't know how to deliver messages or return phone calls. Please do yourself a favor and keep searching for a better dentist. One that isn't just trying to take your money. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! read more

As soon as I walked in, Dr. Chen was able to see me. Which is odd, there usually is such a long wait to see a dentist. I was a little bummed that I didn't get to read the book that I brought in with me! The staff is very friendly and the office is clean. The dental assistants were very sweet and concerned. They treated me like a patient that they'd like to see again- not just some cow with a rotten tooth. Dr. Chen asked me lots of questions to get a good idea of what was going on with me. He explained the procedure, told me how long it would take. He was very thorough. All of the equipment seemed state of the art and clean (x-rays were done while I sat in the dentist chair and shown to me on a computer screen nearby). My wife and I have been going to Star Dental for quite awhile now. Very friendly staff and atmosphere. I'm always able to get appointments that work for me and they are open Saturdays. No longs waits either. I get seen at or very near my appointment time. They are also flexible if I you are running late for your appointment and will still manage to squeeze you in. They are also good with appointment reminders by phone call or text message. One time, my wife was running real late. I mean like real late. She was driving from Tracy and she had the last appointment of the day. They couldn't get hold of my wife so they called me. They wanted to know is she was going to make her appointment. They offered to keep their staff at the office until she showed up. That was very nice of them. I was able to get hold my wife and explained to her the situation. She didn't want them hanging around for her so we cancelled, they were able to close up, and she made appointment another day. Again, that was very nice of them. This place is a joke. Twice, I showed up BEFORE my appointment time and had to wait 45 mins to an hour past my appointment for me to be seen. They don't greet you on the way in and pretend like you're not even there. I complained the last time I was there about how inconsiderate and rude it is for them to be so behind schedule and not even once care to mention to me that they're behind schedule. Receptionist barely apologized and said sometimes they take in walk-in customers which is why there's a long wait time. I had an appointment! WTF! I took my business elsewhere. read more

The office staff matches the neighborhood...GHETTO. They are very rude. I scheduled an appointment for myself and my two children for our six month check-up and cleaning. The office did not give the children a thorough cleaning, did not even floss their teeth. When it was my turn I had Dr. Chen remove and old metal filling had it replaced with white composite filling. Once the numbing went away I was in so much pain I called the doctor and had to leave a message. Dr. Chen called me back about 5 hours later (11pm) and told me there was nothing he could do until the next day. When I called the office the next morning (still in pain), the receptionist told me Dr. Chen was not going to be in til later. I then asked her to take my phone number down and have the doctor call me back, he never called back. Do yourself a favor and do not go to this office, you will be sorry. read more

What can I say? Star Dental is the best dentist office I have ever been to. When I first walked in an older gentleman walk out smiling and said to me, "don't worry, as soon as your done, you'll be smiling too." I was sceptic but he turned out right. The way the staff and Dr. Chen treats you is what makes you feel comfortable and at ease. Dr. Chen makes sure that your procedures are up to his standards or else he'll start over or do whatever he can to bring it up to his standards. The office environment is very nice. A real dentist who cares about his patients, not just about making money. Have always used him for my kids, but never for myself. Went to Stadium Dental in Manteca and they wanted to do four root canals on old fillings and grind my teeth near the gums, which would use up all my insurance for the year and be a $1200 co-pay. They were trying to make money from my pain. Went to Dr Chen for a 2nd opinion. He had room the next day and said only one filling was necessary, the rest was not needed. Also he always fits people in, never makes you wait long, and runs a small office where he even answers the phone himself from time to time. First impression was great, until the end when they gave me an estimated it was overprice even with my benefit!! Then I went back for a filling and was charged office visit fee that I should of not been charged. I later found out that I was ripped off. I'm very disappointed and will not be going back. I was new to this office and had little dental insurance knowledge and they took advantage of it. on top of that they were very unprofessional about it.
