First off I have a huge anxiety when it comes to my teeth and dentists, sitting in the chair for more then 10 mins I go nuts , and all squirmy. Not sure if it the ADHD or just in general I'm a figgety person but also don't like my mouth being worth on. Very sensitive teeth. Anyways that out of the way, the front desk was super nice. The lobby was decent size not cramped, just right and some photos on the way. I had a slight wait from my appointment time. It wasn't much, but a staff member kept me up to date on time frame. Like 15 or 10 mins. I mean it wasn't bad. Now let's get to the dentist, * Pratik Makadia* , super nice guy, laid back, not to judgemental , just enough to help me get motivated to take care of my teeth better, but a super nice easy way of doing it. Highly recommend him if you do go. Now the visit itself, scared and crawling out of my skin. But the staff was super nice and friendly, and quick about things. They had a lot of cool tech stuff the when I was a kid well, never was around , and the tech just wasn't there. I'm in my 40s just fyi. The lady at the end of my visit went over all my bad teeth and costs, ouch. lol. But I knew I haven't been to the dentist in soooo long. But anyways, I really recommend you trying this place out. Not sure why it has a 3 ish star rating. So far I think they are very friendly, quick with their work but not crazy fast there in a hurry. Try them out, get that exam done. This place price gouges like no other. Made an appt for my husband to get his teeth cleaned and they stated they took delta dental. He went in and they took X-rays and told him he needed to have root planing and scaling done. Price: $1000. Decided to call my own family dentist and it was only $160 out of pocket (with insurance). I have been going here for 3 years for routine care with cleanings every 6 months. The last time I was there for routine cleaning I was told I needed root planing and all the previous were done by dentist who didn't clean my teeth, just slightly went over them lightly, but charged not only hygiene but dental exam too so they could milk the kaiser dental program. Then the scaling used up all my hygiene benefits for the year until June of 2025. It took 3 appts to "fix" the problem. This group and others are accepting kaiser dental so they can load up the charges because kaiser dental is such a poor reimbursement entity. This office is a scam. Spend the money on a decent ppo plan so you can go to a reliable honest dentist. read more

I have now been twice to Dentists of Lodi to get my teeth cleaned, both times after numerous unnecessary X-rays,was told they refused unless I get a deep cleaning. I am under the Kaiser dental plan so they are screwing Kaiser by doing so many X-rays, then they told me again that my one tooth that needs to be capped is OK. My other dentist in Lodi says it needs to be capped, also that I do not need root planing. I had X-rays done in this office on August 23rd 2023 which showed a large crack in my tooth, Dr.makadia didn't catch it and my tooth cracked in half in 2024 and had to be removed under anesthetic as it was a perfectly healthy tooth at great cost to me. After that visit he came in and said that because I only get X-rays done there to not come back as he doesn't make any money off me, he was very rude to me and I am an elderly disabled grandma. I know he charges Kaiser a lot for all the xrays he takes and so what he said was untrue. read more

Went a year ago and had 1st check up Dentist never spoke with me even after the exam, looked at exrays talk to assistant, sent me somewhere else for a root canal. Came back after my 2 root canal. And was told I needed a deep cleaning. Would not do a regular cleaning. Told me the cost was $900. This would cover all 4 treatments, went back for my second treatment and was told it would either be $30 if it was a regular treatment or 169. If they had to use the light. I didn't have my part work that I had signed so again trusted that. Was also told they could not start any other work in my teeth till this was done so now going on the second year still have not looked at other teeth I know has lost fillings from getting them years ago. After several mixed up apt I final got in for a 6 month check up. Same thing. Took exrays dentist had ne bite in a tissue for my bite. Never checked any other teeth. Tells me he suggests a bridge and partial , asked him what about the fillings and teeth that need attention. Oh and best one was he told me I needed a root canal on 2 teeth which was done last year. And in their records and trying to show me on the exray where it would be told him he needs to look again that had been done. He proceeds to tell me he will get the assistant to get the paperwork to go over the cost. Of a bridge and partial. Then talks to the Astanant about sending ne out for root canal and maybe fillings never discussing these other teeth with me after asking about this. In the past week my appointments have been changed or canceled for my check up . And as I'm leaving and them wanting to d do 3500. In work they offer the same date my original apt was for now is open for this. And I'm able to have this work when the paradonal deep cleaning hasn't been done still have 2 more treatments. But was told they wouldn't do any work a year ago until this was done. Definitely getting a second opion. Also was told when I came back in after my root canal and spoke with who I was told was the dentist and owner I would be seeing him from now on they gave me someone new again. I have been going to Dentists of Lodi for a few years now. I finally got my husband to come over as well. We get very professional care there. We like all of the Dentists and all of the staff. They have added more services and bring in oral surgeons to their office now, so you don't get sent out for work like some of the other Dentist offices. Everything is clean and the staff members are happy, sometimes humming while they work. I love that! Everyone seems like they get along so well! It was a good decision when I left one dental practice to move over to this one. The old one closed its doors a few months later. Went in for a root canal and got the temporary on quick and easy not bad. Scheduled the permanent crown and was happy. But then once my appointment came up Dr. Mindy had to cancel for a family emergency. Ok thats fine things happen. They have no other dentist there that can complete my procedure. Ok thats fine.. I wait another 2 weeks for her next appointment AND SHE CANCELS AGAIN FOR A FAMILY EMERGENCY! Me and my 3 children have been coming here for a couple years now. I really like Dr. Vo and Dr. Chu. The only downside is the wait time. We've never been taken back for an appointment in less than 45 minutes, only to wait again in the chair to be seen. An appointment here takes 2+ hours per person and it's not just a fluke, it is EVERY time. Either they over book, or they are that unorganized because I always get told "they are running a behind in the back" but heaven forbid you are late for an appointment; they want to reschedule you! Which makes no sense because you're never really seen until an hour after your appointment. Really considering switching dentists solely for this reason. I have never had to schedule 2-3 hours for a routine cleaning at any dentist. read more

She placed me ON HOLD...no asking if she could place me on hold or why! I'm on hold for 2-3 minutes when her manager comes on the line stating the message may have gone to the call center. There was ZERO ZERO ZERO apology for the unnecessary lack of hold protocol. Talking to her for 1 minute reinforced that I want NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS DENTAL PRACTICE! First time seeing doctor Makadia, very very nice doctor. He listened and explain really well & clear. He got my problem fixed right away. Equipments & facilities are very up to date, I really enjoyed x-ray machine hahah.. plus you got to watch your choice of tv show while waiting for the doctor. Appreciate the staff and Dr. Makadia a lot. I had gone to another dentist that told me I needed a crown and some other teeth filled. They basically forced me into signing to accept the treatment even though it was $500+. I didn't really understand why I needed a crown and they didn't even explain it to me before making me sign. I didn't trust what they were telling me and after asking numerous times over the phone why they were charging me for something my insurance covered and not getting proper answers I decided to come to dentists of lodi. I showed Dr. Makadia the tooth that had an issue and he advised me I needed a filling and showed me why (didn't think I needed a crown either). After finishing my exam, one of the staff members came to explain how much it would cost and showed me a breakdown. Neither of them tried to pressure me into getting the filling done at any moment in time and they let me know it was my choice whether I got it done or not. They also gave me the option of getting it done then or coming again another day. Throughout the procedure of getting the filling done, Dr. Makadia kept reassuring me that I was okay which is something I very much needed because I was very nervous. I now feel a lot better about my smile and am glad I don't have to worry about the tooth that I had a problem with anymore. I'm glad I found my new dentist! :) read more

This place does not value patients time. On several occasions this office has rescheduled our appointments. My wife and I are both in the service so we do cleanings every six months. Every single appointment we have had for a cleaning has been rescheduled. Today Friday October 15th they called me to reschedule both mine and my wife's appointment for Monday October 18th. I was at work so I didn't get the voicemail until late. My wife and I both take time off work and schedule our appointments together to be able to have child care in order. Today was the last straw. We can no longer continue to schedule our appointments out months in advance just to be rescheduled every time. I'm the type of person that likes to see the bright side in most things. Today however wasn't one of those days. I took my niece to her appointment. She asked me to be her driver sense she needed to get her wisdom teeth removed. We get to the office right on time for her appointment. We checked in and where thanked for using there online portal. As I sat and waiting for my niece to pay I notice one of the younger receptionist was being very rude to a elderly lady. Making her feel like she was useless because she didn't know how to use her mobile device to sign in. It made me a bit upset seeing that but I continued to mind my own business. 30 mins go by and my niece and I look at each other like ok it hasn't been long we can wait a little longer before we ask how much longer. A whole hour goes by and we ask what the hold up was. The older receptionist kindly informed us that the tech was working on setting up the room and that it would be another 15 mins or so. I left to feed my little one. I returned 30 mins later just to find out that my niece was still in the waiting room. I look at the receptionist and I look at her like hue?? So confused! I then say. What do they think that people don't have to get to work..? The younger receptionist then says umm excuse me.. I repeated myself and she rolled her eyes at me and gave me an attitude. I told her I did not appreciate her attitude and to not tell me a thing as customers are always right. The older receptionist steps in and says well I did tell you it would be longer .. I have to say I am very disappointed. My husband is a business owner and we make sure to be honest with our customers and for the woman to tell us that we where informed that it would be longer is WRONG. The Dr. finally called my niece back and asked unnecessary questions like who is that.. your mom? & the he goes to ask my niece how old are you..? I felt bad for making a bit of a scene but to be honest If I didn't say something my niece and I would have waited another 2 hours. I say this because the Dr then explained that my niece has to drive all the Way to Sacramento to get X-Rays done because they don't have the equipment there. Mind you that my niece went to the office one whole week prior to make sure that they didn't need anything else. Also she had X Rays done 2 weeks before the oral surgery. If you have 4 hours out of your day to sit in a waiting room and if you don't mind being lied to then this is the office for you. read more

EDIT: I was taken in on a cancellation the same week of my canceled appointment. The Dr was so kind, the manager came in and talked to me and apologized. I am going to give them another chance. LITERALLY DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! After being with this office since they opened I finally have had enough. It never fails, ever six months I do a cleaning and the week of my appoint I get canceled. I schedule months in advance as I'm in the military and need my cleanings as medical readiness. Every six months I get a call to reschedule my appointment because the Dr. Won't be in. It's so unfortunate that we have reached a point to where we have to go somewhere else because our time is not valued. I hate to go anywhere else because Overall the staff is nice and they are a good office but since being with this office this has continued to happen. Today my husband got the call which went to voicemail because he was at work. It's Friday night now and we're just now hearing the voicemail to cancel my appointment on Monday at 0800. They did not call me to try to reschedule, just my husband and now it's 8pm and we had both took the day off to go to the dentist Monday morning. I came in to DoL because I am new to the area and needed a cleaning/new dentist. The $59 for exam/xray/cleaning is legit. Dr Makadia and the staff are professional and have excellent communication skills. I felt like they kept me informed of their findings while doing my exam and let me know, "I'm about to do X, it may be uncomfortable. Let me know if you need a break." Their equipment is modern, which saved me time and made me more comfortable. When it came to decide on some services I will need for my gums, Dr. Makadia and Ms. Charpentier, the office manager, explained my options and were willing to work with me on price and a payment plan. He's been waited in the lobby for about 45 minutes before getting into a chair, then another hour for them to come in and see him. And this was just to fix a Capped toothI can understand overbooking it is common practice in this field but having to wait over two hours one hour until someone showed up and found out no one came to see him is very bad business practice read more

I'll start by saying this is the first time I have ever posted a negative review of a business.. I came here six months ago and had an okay experience good enough that I made another appt for 6 mo. My husband had a terrible experience start to finish but I kind of brushed it off thought it was a fluke. Yesterday I went back I tried to check in and receptionist told me I needed to download an app to do the E-check in. I work in a healthcare office with a similar EHR system so I know they have the capability of going through and checking the boxes that I'm not on any medication and no health problems or changes since my last visit since this was just a routine cleaning. she insisted I needed to do it on my own and told me to come up if I had any problems. A half hour goes by and I asked the gals when I would be taken back, they asked if I had finished my E check in. I told them yes it was done within the first five minutes, they apparently don't keep an eye on the schedule or what the status of the patient appointments are. She had me sign stating that I would have a $0 co-pay and Dr. would determine whether we would do a cleaning today which I thought was the whole point of the visit?? after 45 minutes of waiting the tech takes me back for x-rays, which I had just done six months prior. The tech insisted that I need it done every six months which has only ever been done every 18 months at my prior dentist. Again working in healthcare. I have a good feeling they do this because I have good insurance and it's another way for them to make more money. I get taken to a room where I wait another 15 minutes for the doctor to poke around in my mouth for about a minute and say everything looks good. He then asked if I want to do a cleaning? I said, of course isn't that the main reason I am here I told you I had no complaints. I was just here for a routine cleaning. He seemed annoyed that he had to spend more time doing a cleaning. He handed me a pair of safety glasses to wear, which I thought was odd, considering I've had two cleanings a year for my entire life at other dentist, and never had to do that. He then proceeded to give me the ABSOLUTE ROUGHEST cleaning I have ever had my first we're clenched the entire time it was so uncomfortable. He left and sent another hygienist in to polish my teeth, which took another 10 minutes or so. She insisted that I needed to put the safety glasses back on. I asked why she said so that something doesn't splatter in my eyes. The whole process took an hour and 45 minutes I told the receptionist at the end I wouldn't be rescheduling. Basically this post is to say THERE ARE MUCHHHH BETTER OFFICES OUT THERE!! I would not waste my time or money at this one. read more

They take your credit card for the full amount of work UP FRONT and if work cant be completed you have to fight for the credit back on your credit card. THEY HOLD your money . I was shocked when we were done, it was painless!! My husband and I (I'm using his account) changed out dental insurance so we could go here. Beware! I went to Dentists of Lodi for 3 years. They told me I had 12 cavities which seemed odd because I had recently had my old dentist in a different state treat 1 and say I was good. I paid to have half done then and would save to pay for the others. I switched dentists during that wait. My new dentist said I had ZERO cavities. DENTISTS OF LODI WANTED ME TO PAY FOR MORE SERVICE. 2 years ago this would of been a 5 star review! I walked out happy and more confident in my smile. However I recently went like 2-3 weeks ago and I'm upset with the type of service I got. The dentist that I saw 2 years was booked til the end of December and I had no choice but to see Dr. Chu. I'm very self conscious about my teeth and I've had the worst experiences with dentists my whole life. The second he came in and looked into my mouth. He kept complaining and to me that I could of just smeared tooth paste all over my teeth and that's pretty much a dentist in a bottle. I GET IT. I didn't come for his judgment. I came because I need help with my teeth. Not to feed his ego. I called my boyfriend about everything that needed to be done and of course I wasn't happy bc he just wanted to crown all my teeth after I repeatedly told him I wanted to extract them. After all it is my mouth, my money and my final say. Then Araceli?? The "manager" came in and asked me why I was upset. I had a bit of a better experience with her but only that day. They didn't even tell me the specialist that I needed to see was only there 2 days out of the month. They never even scheduled me a appointment with her. I would call and call to try to speak to the manger and she never once called me back. Worst experience I've ever had. At least western dental would of done my root canal the same day. Update: get a second opinion before getting ANY major work done. Dr.chu said I would need to replace a existing crown bc I had a cavity growing under it. HOW ??? It's not a living tooth it's physically impossible. They just want to charge you for anything and take your money. read more

My daughter went in for a toothache, and was later told that she needed a root canal and a crown. I was told the total and paid in advance. Fast forward a year and my daughter never went back and I found a dentist that was half the price. I called the office to get a refund for the services I paid up front for and they issued a check for just the root canal. I was told they wouldn't issue a check for the crown because it was already made. I told the office manager that was impossible since the root canal was never completed and it's been a year. They continued to refuse the refund, so we went to another dentist for the root canal and returned here for the crown (since it was already paid for). My daughter was in the chair when another employee told her she'll be back in an hour or so because she had to make her crown. My daughter recorded the convo and informed the employee that we were instructed that it was already made. She told my daughter that was impossible since the root canal wasn't completed. I told my daughter to refuse service and to get a refund for the crown. I immediately met her at the office and we spoke with the office manager Araceli who confirmed a refund would be issued. That was on November 3rd and I've been given the runaround ever since. They have 0 ethics and morality here. I have no faith or trust with this office and they are overpriced. I paid $500 for the same work at another dentist that dentist of Lodi quoted me $1200 for. They are a huge rip off. read more

Received a random email of an appt I had 2 weeks out, that nobody called me to schedule so I had to scramble to get off early as my work schedule is posted one month out. Email said 2 pm, get a voicemail and email a week before the apt saying 1:30... had to scramble again to get off earlier on my appt day.. i hit reschedule on the email and it cancelled my appt, i called the office and was REASSURED that it was not cancelled and I was still on for 1:30 and not 2.. i go in for my appt and am told im SOL, that i can wait too see if i can get squeezed in... oh and their "2 hour" in/onlay advertisement is also a lie, took them about 4 hrs on my first visit. read more

Shady billing and practices. This review is on behalf of my mother in laws experience with this clinic. This clinic charged for a deep cleaning but provided regular cleaning. No anesthesia amd hygenist did her whole mouth at once instead of half divided in two visits. MIL has had a deep cleaning before so knows the difference. When brought to heir attention they made up an excuse to justify the padded bill. The treatment plan includes a quote for an "emergency"....ummm there was no emergency and why bill in advance for one?!?! Dental practices like this is why people avoid dentists!
