Not even 5 minutes later she was following us around and directing us towards specific furniture sets that were more expensive than we were comfortable spending despite us voicing that to the representative. I'm hoping the sales team takes it more seriously in the near future that when potential customers voice that they would like to browse on their own that they will respect that wish. My sister who is disabled bought a chair a year and a half ago. She told the salesman it was a medical necessity because it was a lift chair. She bought the 300 dollar insurance plan. It has broken. It broke before Thanksgiving and a repairmen came out looked at and said he'd order the parts. Now 2 months later the parts have never been ordered. They told her they have now ordered the parts and she can install them when they come .If she can't then they send out a repairmen. Come on Star furniture do better. Shame on you. You sold her a worthless chair and a worthless insurance policy. That you just praised how good it was. I've seen the break it is the steel frame that is broke. That's not repairable. It's just unacceptable. And now according to the policy if it breaks again it's not replaceable. l'm furious and my only recourse is the attorney general. read more

It took several deliveries to finally get furniture. It was assembled incorrectly and I had to fix. DO NOT BUY INSURANCE THEY OFFER. We have been waiting a year for repairs and Star has been no help. The sales staff sold us stuff they knew was discontinued and we would never be able to finish set. We were told items were on order. We can't get ahold of the lady who sold it to us and the customer service says "it's as is and should have been noticed defective within the first 24 hours." Sales team was decent, reasonable pricing, the delivery guys were friendly, even dealing with the people on the phone for damage was ok. However, our experience with the quality of the items delivered wasn't as great - out of 7 pieces 5 were damaged and needed to be replaced. The first time the delivery guys broke the legs off of the dresser, the replacement was damaged and you could see that someone attempted to repair - the third time was a charm and the dresser was fine. The table had damage on 2 of the corners and a scratch. Three of the chairs had damage and were replaced. The bench seat was stained so they sent a tech to clean it. Unfortunately that I made it worse so they scheduled a replacement. Today I received a message saying they were 40 minutes away which was over an hour and a half before the appointment window. I had a business meeting so I left the bench on the covered porch, but they didn't exchange - presumably because I couldn't come to the door. They have been here 7 times to deliver, exchange or repair damaged furniture. Not sure this is everyone's experience, but ours hasn't been great. read more

It's a nice enough Store if you want the highest quality wood. The price matches the material used so it is a bit pricey. Two rich for my blood, but that's not to say it's not the right place for the right buyer. The staff was also friendly. read more

Updating my review, to say I went back and purchase a Chest and nightstand from star furniture in Bryan. I remember how kind Mrs Lynn was. I had to return to her. Once again she was courteous and kind. I have to mention the other staff members as well. The lady that ran my purchase though was a absolute delight! The gentlemen that deliver the items I purchase were very professional. I was talking to another gentleman about another piece of furniture. When I came back in the room. they had everything set up and arranged some of my personal items on the new pieces of furniture. I was told by Mrs Lynn to look Over purchases just make sure it was in good condition. It was! They had it wrapped and bundled up as if it was precious cargo. I am more than satisfied with my purchase. The customer service I received from everybody that I came in contact with was polite and professional! Thank you very Star Furniture! If you deal with these people beware to not purchase the montage protection policy. It is of very little value and has quite a bit of fine print that covers them in ways to squirm out of the obligations you feel they would be responsible for. I will say the local staff was helpful, but very dissatisfied with the the montage issue, which will make me avoid doing any business with them in the future. read more

I cannot recommend Star as a reputable or ethical company. All I can do is to never patronize the store again and caution potential shoppers to beware. On December 11, 2012 I found a barstool on clearance that I loved. I have been looking for well over a year at various stores, so I knew immediately it was exactly what I was looking for. Since it was on clearance, they only had one in the Bryan store, but their computer system showed only ONE MORE LEFT in the whole Star company at another location. I was happy, paid for BOTH barstools and took the one stool with me that day. The other stool was supposed arrive in a week upon which I would receive a phone call to let me know it was in. I live an hour and 20 minute drive from Star in Bryan. Although I never received a phone call, I knew my other barstool had to be in because it had been over a week. So, I made a special hour+ trip to pick it up. Upon arrival, my Sales Associate was at the door and said, "Oh yeah, I've been meaning to call you. Your stool came in damaged. It's in the warehouse, so let's go take a look at it to see if it will work for you." I was shocked because I should have been notified the stool had arrived AND it arrived damaged, so that I would have had the opportunity to bring the barstool already at my home with me in case I needed to return it! Sales Associate showed me what looked to be mostly cosmetic -- one leg was splintered and completely broken. The warehouse was dark and it was difficult to see, but my fiance thought he could repair it where it would not be noticeable. I agreed to go ahead and accept the barstool with an additional discount. At the front counter, the store manager mentioned to me (while he was authorizing the addtional discount) he was glad it worked out because he wasn't sure I would want it since part of the damage appeared cosmetic and another structural. Structural! My sales associate never mentioned a structural issue, so when they finally brought the stool up from the warehouse to the showroom where it was brightly lit, I could see the seat slanted to one side. I touched it and the seat was so wobbly it would have been unsafe for anyone to sit in! My sales associate never said anything about the seat. He only showed us the broken leg. At that point, I refused to take the stool and was given a refund for that one stool only. I would have to drive the hour and 20 minutes ONE WAY home and another hour and 20 minutes back again to return the OTHER barstool for the remainder of the refund. All this occured just before Christmas, so I was delayed by a week in returning the second barstool due to the holidays. Upon my return, the manager did not remember the issue and the associate who refunded the broken stool and now responsible refunding this one did not recall what happened either even though they both were previously involved, so it was a very long drawn out process while I had to explain why I "deserved" a refund. When the manager finally recalled exactly who I was he said, "Yeah, I sure am sorry about that. I looked at that thing again and it was jacked up. I can't believe we even tried to sell it to you." Well, I couldn't either, nor could I believe my sales associate failed to mention the broken seat and opted to show us only the cosmetic issue. During the refund, the associate doing so answered a phone call during the middle of our transaction and rather than transfer the call or get someone else to attend to the phone customer, she stayed on the phone waiting on that customer leaving me, the CUSTOMER INSIDE THE STORE STANDING AT THE COUNTER IN FRONT OF HER, hanging. To make matters worse, I was given refunds in three stages on two different days. And you guessed it -- a review of my bank statement revealed they had not given me a full refund. The same associate responsible for the original 3 refunds researched the situation. She found the problem which occurred at Star's company credit department -- not her fault. HOWEVER, even though they admitted it was their mistake, the refund is not immediate! A "Review Request" must be submitted to reverse the error and it takes a minimum of 3 - 5 working days for the research and approval process. Not only do I question their ethics, but they do not provide customer service . BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!!! read more

Very poor customer service. 6 weeks ago we went into Star Furniture in Bryan to purchase a specific sofa, it too over three hours to order it. Not only did the lady not know what she was doing, she argued with us about our desired colors and shape of the sofa we wanted. We were told 6-8 weeks. 6 weeks later, after calling multiple times with promises of returned calls, now they are saying 90 days and they are not sure when the sofa will arrive. They promised to call back in a few days when they can figure out the status of our sofa. We have had a terrible experience. Star Furniture is supposed to be a high end furniture store with amazing service. Star Furniture gets one star from us. Never again will we go there. read more

I purchased a media cabinet yesterday from Star and am very pleased. I spotted a piece at Furniture Row that I liked for $850. I decided to wait and shop around. I found the exact same piece at Star and it was priced at $599. I was told they were on backorder and it would be 90 days before they had one available but since I was looking for something in a hurry they sold me the floor model. I am very pleased with both the customer service and the quality of the piece I bought. I will return here for future purchases. read more

Star Furniture in Bryan, TX has such poor customer service policies that I wonder how they are still in business. We recently bought a shelving unit that was too large for the space (our fault). Star has a no return policy, which I understand. It's hard to lose revenue and have to hold inventory from returns. We need 2 new mattresses, so we felt sure we could ask for an exchange - one in which Star would come out ahead. They said NO. No returns, no exchanges. But they offered to be of assistance with the purchase of our new mattresses. Really? They lost a sale and our future business. We will never shop at Star again, and will recommend Haverty's and Ashley to anyone we can. Busines 101 - you won't stay in business when you don't care about the customer. read more

Purchased 7000.00 of Living room furniture, the items were praised as heirloom quality and would last a lifetime. (As a precaution I purchased the warranty) HA! 5 months in and the crap is falling apart and I cannot get anyone out to look at the stuff. They are only out to College Station on Thursday and will not offer a time frame less than 5 hours. I have asked to be put first on the list if I agree to wait another 3 weeks out, this also did not work . Have tried 3 times to set up a time from 8-1030, they cannot do it. I suspect it is because they do not want to honor their part of the warranty. Last time I called I was informed that it is my fault that they cannot get here, I need to be home and wait for them. I can't speak for the service, because I haven't needed any outside the 15 day window I had to return the items. I ordered a sectional, and the love seat wouldn't recline correctly. I called the sales rep that I worked with, his name is Eugene. He promptly took care of it, and a few days later a new couch arrived from Houston at the shop. I chose to pick the furniture up myself, so I brought the old one back and swapped for the new one. The furniture is of superior quality than any other furniture store around. And we shopped around a lot, we almost took Ashley furniture up on the free furniture if A&M won. But look up what bonded leather is, then ask Ashley furniture what kind of leather they have.
