I was hanging at my sisters in Eden yesterday and she said she had some food that she had never…read moretried. She said she heard it was really good. Well let me tell you...... OMG I lived in Portland, Oregon for 25 years and we had tons of different restaurants to choose from and this food was amazing. I have not had such wonderful food since I left the Left Coast nearly 2 years ago. Warm, fragrant and full of flavor!!! I will definitely be getting food from here in the future. We need a place like this in Newport. Hint, hint........ Great job Thank you Juie Marckres Journey's Salon & Guest House in North Troy 316 N Pleasant St. North Troy, Vt. 05859 Minutes to Jay Peak Resort

Rating: 3.8 Came to…read moretry this hidden Nepali restaurant in a convenient store. The reviews were good and we were in the area so decided give it a shot. It's in morrisville VT which is close to Stowe where we were staying. We parked at the convenient store and went inside. The shop was located on the left side. We went up to the counter and placed order. The menu was pretty limited. They offer mostly curry with either chicken, pork, or veggie. (Pork was special at the time) and samosa as well as dumplings. We got chicken and pork curry with rice, samosa and dumplings . Samosa was ok. Bit stale as it's likely been sitting for some time. Dumplings were pretty good. Good chewy texture and inside was flavorful with some beef fillings. Used some hot sauce on the side to change up the flavor if you like mild spice. Curry was ok. Flavor of the curry was good but meat was overcooked and dry as it's probably been sitting for while. The rice was also overcooked and soft and sticky. Not a-lot of flavor on rice even though it has some star anise and spices in there. Service was good. Older Nepalese guy was running the area. He was nice. You get a slip and pay at the register for the convenience store. Price was pretty reasonable. Overall it's an ok place. I had high hopes that it may be a hidden gem but unfortunately was not as good as i hoped. If anything i would recommend the dumplings which was good and was reasonably priced but i would not necessarily go out of way to go there just for dumplings. If you are around stop by for quick dumplings. Otherwise there are probabaly better place near burlington.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here before going to a performance at the Lost Nations…read moretheater a few steps away. we were promptly greeted and seated by our hostess who explained that a new Southern Indian menu section was just added. We saw Masala Dosa was now offered. We are huge fans of dosa from our previous lives living and working in Singapore. We also ordered the Bindi (okra) and the lamb vindaloo. Food is super tasty - very authentic. the masala (potato) dosa came with a creamy coconut chutney, and spicy sambar, and a big bowl of gravy. We loved it. The Bindi and the lamb soon followed. Amazingly tasty, cooked to perfection. The lamb could be cut into smaller pieces with a fork. We were asked about the level of heat - spiciness - we preferred, and the medium had just the right level of burn for both of us. We also enjoyed a mango lassi (cool and very refreshing) and because my wife eats gluten free, I got to enjoy a wonderful butter naan. Portions are very generous, we both took half our meals home to enjoy the next day. All in all - a great menu selection, plenty of gluten free options, great location on Main Street, and plenty of on street free parking after 5 PM. The hostess was fun to chat with, and gave us good tips about SE Asian food in general. I highly recommend. We will come every time we go to a show at the theater or at the Savoy.

Go past the dashes for the review. I'm just giving context here…read more The Burlington I knew was 3ft taller, and had a human gyroscope on Church Street right outside a Japanese restaurant. What I don't remember are good momos. April 8th, 2024. The eleventh hour. We were short on time. The streets are never this crowded. Everyone was excited. Coming from the SF Bay Area, we have very good access to good momos at least in South Bay. What we got this day in Burlington would have been a great challenger to all the Momo shops in the Bay Area that I'm typing this review in right now. (Ignore the dashes in words. I don't want people to find my review using the words with dashes because this was a special day.) ----------------- 3 orders of momos. Chai. The restaurant was absolutely over-whelmed. The front of the restaurant were packed to the br-im with customers wai-ting for their takeout orders. We had to wa-it ha-lf an ho-ur for ours. After all, the steamers could cook only so many momos at once. Everyone was nervous, excited, and on their toes. Yet, service was not compromised. The owner, understanding our frustration, gave us some mango lassi while we waited. We're finally opened up the tin container when we got to our viewing location, which was around, 20 minutes? We loved it. The momos were still warm and juicy. The flavors were relatively basic, rustic, but also felt very healthy, in a sense that it was missing that je ne sais quoi, that roundness in taste, that I assume is a LACK of MSG. What kicked this into 11 was the chutney it came with. More tomato heavy than my average experience. You could taste how clean the tomatoes were. It was FRESH! Now, that was ahead of a special event that may never happen in this Burlington again in our lifetime. I imagine things would be even better on any other day.
