Finding yelp reviews to be more accurate than Google. Stopped by for the first time passing through. Next time I'll take the empty salon as a sign. Wanted to leave a few minutes in the process, but decided to avoid acting out. No ambience, hot, miserable, incompetent, it was physically bothersome having the electric file going too slow and overheating on the nail, nail pressed on too hard with the metal scraper, filed rough and slow, cuticles tugged at, nails shaped crooked, there are more weird issues I could keep going though it's sounding nitpicky. I did try to speak up about some things I seriously couldn't tolerate like the overheating around my nail, kept quiet about some things, and then after a few other questionable things they started to get defensive asking if I'm a nail tech which I'm not, just a routine kind of customer who knows how my hand feels when someone does their job well.. quite the opposite in this case. read more

Worse nail service I've ever had. If the spa wasn't empty when i walked in and I wasn't in need to get to my dinner date afterwards and it wasn't the day before my vacation, I would've left.‍ I showed the man (probably the owner) a picture of what I wanted done (full set, ombre French tips, coffin) and then he proceeds to put CLEAR acrylics on my fingers [thought it was weird since I've gotten this style done before and it's usually done in white, but I wrongly assumed that he knew what he was doing]. When I asked, he mumbled something, but yet I was under the assumption that he was doing some new 2-toned technique or something. On top of that, he barely glued them on my fingers; like 3 of the nails fell off before we even start filing. And then he handed my the ring of colors and told me to pick one! I'm like I showed you what I wanted to be acted like he couldn't understand me. I just picked one bc again I was in hurry and didn't have time start over. Then he tells me that he's going to use this new acrylic technique where they use a thick clear gel to set the nail, dries on clear by uv light, until it's ready for nail polish. I was like I guess why not. The technique looked like it would last longer then the purple solution/pink powder combo, but that wasn't the case at all! 2 days into the vacation overseas, a nail broke off, then another and then 2 more within 4 days. Since I was overseas, I couldn't go back to get it fixed/refund so I was stuck with my L and just tore (which was a little too easy) the rest off. So what ever you do, do not let them use a clear gel method for full sets!! read more

Really wonderful service--staff pay attention to what you want, and will continue to make small talk and joke with you. I purchased a groupon for a shellac manicure in February and use it a few weeks after purchasing. The staff were very patient with me, as I had changed my mind on nail color several times. I asked for a glitter ombré on each nail; however, after several tries, it became clear that my nail technician did not know this technique. I ended up asking the owner for a sponge and said "Let me show you, I'll teach you". The other staff members crowded around to see how this was done and to learn a new technique. They didn't charge me for the 10 nail designs, since I did them myself. They also asked to take a photograph for their Facebook page, and I agreed. read more

I am visiting from out of town, I normally have an amazing salon that I go to in Lynnwood Washington. This salon was okay, $10 more for a Shellac Manicure than I pay for back home. It's $30. The lady who did my manicure did a great job taking her time painting my nails, I just got them done yesterday so I am hoping that they last at least the 3 weeks that they normally do, for me. I noticed that unlike my salon at home, there was no application of oil on my very dry cuticles and the lotion and massage application only lasted about 30 seconds. I think overall, I'l come back but I'm definitely going to have to do more research and more other salons before, seeing as I'll be moving here in August. read more

They called me when I was a few minutes late for the appointment which was also nice because I was having trouble finding the location amidst all the shops in the area. This is my second try at finding a place I truly love to get gel manicures. I'm now noticing that I have polish all over my fingers. The technician was pretty rough when removing excess polish from around my nails with her own nails. I did go in with a severely broken nail (natural) that she fixed for free with dip powder before applying my gel so that was nice. I likely will not be back. Gel manicure was $30 so a decent price. Mediocre at best. I hate leaving bad reviews but I don't believe we received our moneys worth at all. My boyfriend and I came in for pedicures. We asked for the standard one (least expensive) which was still $36 as any standard pedicure is. During mine, the male (owner) did the whole let me try to convince you to get gel over regular polish blah blah blah. I know how this goes. They try to upsell you even if you already know the difference between standard nail polish and gel. I eventually was just like whatever do gel. I'm a female and know it lasts longer anyways. At the end of our pedicures he said gel was $29 EXTRA. TWENTY DOLLARS?! I have been to numerous nail salons across the U.S and never in my life has anyone ever charged me $20 extra for gel. It's maybe $10-$12 extra at most. I was pissed! My boyfriend also said that the women who did his pedicure barely massaged his legs / feet. If he's NOT receiving polish you'd think they'd go the extra mile in their other services. But nope. I was extremely disappointed with this salons services and I won't be back. I spent $90 and I definitely took the up-charge out of their tip. This was definitely not worth it. read more

Wanted to give this place a good review because the owners are so nice but this is the worst dip manicure I have ever had. So much dip powder was put on that I had large lumps on my nails, the dip was gritty and falling off in some parts. I had dip all over my cuticles and the edges were uneven. My nails on my left hand were square shape and my right hand had round shapes. Was really confused when I was asked if the nails were ok, wish I could've taken a picture during the process. Luckily the lady who works there took over and made them somewhat better but as you can see in the pic my cuticles are awful and my nails are still miss-shaped. read more

The owner Brian did my pedicure and even though he's a little guy he's amazing at massaging and pays close attention to detail when scrubbing our feet or giving you a hot stone massage. It was amazing! Also, I had my favorite lady do my nails a little more fancy that usual and she redid a couple because she wasn't happy with the way they were looking. People kept coming in and having to be turned away because they were so booked. It's not the cleanest place in the world but it's fine if you go in as little as I do. read more

Star Nails has become my go-to salon for mani/pedis! The staff is always extremely thorough and takes their time making sure that you have a relaxed experience with a quality result. Many times the owners are in the salon working as well. They just started a new frequent customer reward card that I'm excited to be a part of. Although it is not a premier spa and may not be the most fancy place, my nails always look great for a moderate price. The staff members are always friendly and really make an effort to get to know you, and when you get a pedicure they give some of the best leg massages around! read more

I do badly wanted to like this place because it is close to my house how we the place is small and a mess with questionable cleanliness. The owner did not disclose all options but only higher end options. She cut me twice while filing my toes and then when later applying alcohol forgot and therefore created pain. She then went out and talked to a friend from next door forgetting that she hadn't done my leg massage and that I hadn't paid so I waited 20 mins until she wash done with her phone call. The lady next to me got cut once, had one foot where toenails weren't cut and received a very poorly painted French. Their massage chairs didn't fully function and their personal kids were there running around. They did not apologize or take responsibility on their own for the deep toe cuts, forgetting she didn't finish with me or anything else. Huge disappointment. read more

My family and I went to have a relaxing time and get our nails and toes done. The owner was horrible to us! She rushed us with everything, nails, pedicure, everything. Once my two aunts were done, another lady came in and she was sweet to her and took her time with her pedicure. So terrible. I did have a great experience with the father, he took his time. I also asked for a simple nail design (swirls) and was told that couldn't be done.. which is strange because I see designs here on this Yelp page. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place. I have come here a couple times with Groupons and it has been an outstanding deal BUT I would say the services matched, with my nails coming out just okay. Most recently though, I had a shellac manicure in a plum color and it turned YELLOW within the week. It was so weird and gross, I showed my friend who I had originally gone with and she said I definitely need to return. I did and the lady who did my nails laughed and said she would redo them - but them she asked me to show the manager. I showed the manager and the manager basically said it is not her polish, she is not to blame -- it must be my lotion or something?!? Yeah, because my fragrance-free Aveeno body lotion is causing my nails to turn YELLOW. Anyway, they redid it at no cost but it is still gross and weird and very accusatory of them. Last thing, as a previous reviewer said, they act like you have an appointment and then make you wait or tell you they are closing which is really weird. This was my first time using Star Nails and Spa for any of their services and it certainly will not be my last. Chan, the owner, was very pleasant as well as her gentleman coworker. The inside is very clean and well decorated. Beautiful plants all through out and clear separators between the client and the professional. I was wanting to get my nails done so I could grow out my natural nail in preparation for my wedding ceremony and I had my ideas of how I would do that but Chan gave me a very well educated explanation for why that plan wasn't the best. After letting me know the best course of action, she began the manicure. She was very gentile and did not use the drill file on my natural nail which I LOVED!! I have to say that I have tried many nail salons in the OP area. Over time the good ones get way to busy and lose the customer service I enjoy. Also it's hard to get the same tech each time. Many nail techs move around the city and you have to find another nail tech in the same shop that you really like. However since I have been going to Star Nails I always get the same tech and she remembers exactly what I like done while getting a pedicure. Friendly service and speaks good English is a plus. The prices are fair and the quality of work is a 10. This is an excellent business for pedicure and manicures. Worth your time to try it. read more

I bought the Groupon for the Star Pedicure and Shellac Manicure. I only spent $29 on it for services worth $65 so it was a great deal. I do have to say I'm glad that's all I paid for it. The lady who did my nails was nice enough and she did an ok job on my toenails. She was pretty messy with the shellac and I think I would have been more picky if I was paying full price. Overall, good experience but I don't think I'll be headed back unless they do another great Groupon. It was good that I could leave a tip on my debit card and I didn't have to get cash. read more

We have been to this salon before and received good services. However this most recent visit my daughter had a manicure and pedicure done by someone we had not seen before. The manicure was the worst we had ever received anywhere. Polish applied was thick and had drips. Perhaps old polish? The woman raced out as she finished so clearly was in a rush.
