Came here for the first time and it was a good experience. It was $35 for a shellac manicure with a design which is a bit pricier than I'm used to, but I guess I don't always get a design. The ladies working there were really nice and friendly, and it also was done really quickly which is nice when in a rush. She said if I have a problem with my shellac that I could come back within a week and they'll fix it for free which is nice because the last place I went (Nordstrom), my nails chipped the next day. So I ran out of time so my last option was star nails. I haven't been here for a while and every time I leave their nail shop I remember why I stop going there. I don't have bad blood in fact I will can happily say every single person that provided their services had alway did a satisfying job plus they are nice. I observed if their is anything had displeased a costumer it's because of one of the owner which is the wife. The husband is very polite he provides good service with the intent provide his best with honesty how ever his wife makes the call and will put her employees under water and will call the shot. I am Vietnamese with that being said I speak, understand,read and write. She had talked bad about me I didn't say anything for a while because I wanted to see and hear all she had to say it was rude and very judgmental I had also witnessed her saying horrible things about other. In fact she's the only one all of her employees doesn't even know entertain any second of it you can tell they're focus on theirselves. Before you decide and be desperate because it's a last minute thing save yourself the trip. I got money to spend and I'm the the type to leave a good tip even if the service wasn't good. So this isn't out of hate or being petty. There was multiple of things, so I went into star nails with the intent to get shellac toes and nails done the length was short she charge me $120 remind you I've been to different places and by that I also mean high end locations like Bellevue downtown Seattle also in different cities and state I never got charged 120 anywhere I felt like she just me off of the jewelry that I was wearing in the car I was driving mainly because she look me up and down. She also tried to charge me extra because She felt like one of her employees took so long to cut my ingrown nail at first she say is extra charge because they always charge extra then she said because it took too much time. And it's not even on her menu anything that she was charging actually isn't Include it on the menu and she'll just freestyle these prices depending on her mood. There are times when I went there and got my nails done by her or someone else and she'll do more and change me less. You guys don't be fooled when they start having Smalltalk with you with the intent to make you feel comfortable I whatever the reason might be because the real insight behind that is she want to know what type of work where you live to give herself an estimations on what she think you Can afford. Oh yeah that's that's not it I Astor for two diamonds one on each pinky and that was seven dollars each I don't even have to say anything on that you guys know you guys can use it a lot so you guys know the real prices on shit but what killed me was she Will allow me to get five different colors with no fee but on her menu issues that will be charge an extra charge. With that being said you're not sticking to your message I understand you're the boss and you could pick and choose but you can't pick and choose to overprice somebody because you think they could afford it and it was not on the menu and then make up a lot of excuses why is she is charging extra price even one girl there was like well my shellac nails head and feet were only $75 and her nails was longer than mines. No she didn't have to go out of her way to remove the any old nails because I took em off because I knew she was going to use that as leverage yes I understand it cost a few bucks to take them on her a few bucks are a few bucks just like it cost a few bucks for a fake diamonds are your news why is too small diamonds $14 then she say OK honey you pay 120or we know no for you out loud as if I can't afford it it was trying to embarrass me. And I still gave her a $10 tip well her husband because she didn't stay wet 10 minutes after her closing time but that happens on occasion when she works there. I feel like her small talk with me is very disrespectful she say honey why Are you so skinny now that's not cute I told her that's disrespectful she implied you know We're been a mise that's how our people talk out of love and that's true that is how we talk but only if we know you so don't use that as an excuse so you could be rude. Because how I was brought up we clear on all the time at my house out and I don't get offended I love clown it and I hate people wit soft skin.With that being said I will never ever go back to her establishment ever again although she do have a lot of talented employees that work for her. Just because I look like I got it doesn't mean I got it enough where you could tax me however you want to tax me. I've been meaning to write a review of this salon for years. I've tried probably 50 salons in the seattle area from Renton to Lynnwood and this is the only salon I trust to do my nails. They are consistent in their services and do the very best work. I drive an hour to go here when I need a fill, full-set, or even my yearly summer acrylic pedi. Every time I leave I feel so good about the quality of my nails and the friendly conversations. Tri always asks about my family, and how work is going. There's free parking, awesome prices, very fast service and the interior is gorgeous - they even have their own water fall fountain for ambiance! I can't believe I've lived in Rainier Beach for a year and a half and never went to get my nails done. I had a set done in Spokane two weeks ago and the nail tech did a pretty bad job. My nails were a wreck, the acrylic was too thick, and they were lifting and breaking. After checking Yelp, I was pleasantly surprised to see a salon with wonderful reviews about a block and a half from my apartment. I walked in right after they opened (9:30 on a Saturday) and saw a clean, nicely decorated salon with a calm, muted atmosphere. Tri helped me right away. He went straight to work on making my nails look great while engaging me in a fun conversation. When he was done with my nails I had a fantastic set of nails just like I wanted them. And the price was right. $16 for a fill is pretty reasonable in my book, especially with the amount of work he put into fixing a mess. The pedicure stations were clean and orderly and I think I may just give that a whirl one of these days. I highly recommend Star Nails and definitely see Tri if you can. He's great at nails and a really professional, nice, and funny guy. By the way, there is a dollar surcharge if you pay with a card, which they let me know up front. I absolutely love this nail salon! Despite the south end neighborhood, the store and staff are very clean and friendly. I went to get my nails done for prom and the nails design I chose was a bit much for the average mani/pedi. However they pinpoint the design and I left extremely happy and satisfied! The pedicure process is also very lovely! The last time I went received one of the finest foot massages in my life. For a pedicure it was nice. Don't let the exterior fool you! This salon is spacious, beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly and professional. Mani & Pedi were on point and my technician gave me an extra long foot massage. BONUS: your service comes with a complimentary wine, bubbles, tea or even a Vietnamese coffee! Although it is a bit on the pricey side... $90+tip for mani, pedi and face wax. Just finished my first mani pedi. The pedi was awesome! Best massage ever and the woman who did the paint was meticulous. The mani, however, not great. Think I got a brand new person. Massage was 2 minutes and only the hands/wrists. Bummed, was really looking forward to the great massage others wrote about. The paint job was also kind of messy. Like many have said, the outside doesn't look like much but inside, there are two waterfalls, a huge, clean room with lots of stations, wheelchair access including bathroom with a grab bar, tons of colors of nail polish available, and great service. Unfortunately, I had very poor service here. I asked for a French pedicure and my feet looked like two different people, neither of whom were professional nail techs, did my feet. I asked for them to be fixed, as much as possible and they still looked bad. I was going to get a manicure here, but decided not to as my toes looked so bad. When I told the owner that I was dissatisfied with my service, she offered no discount or recourse and simply said just don't tip. I've been getting my nails done here for a couple years at least and I've HAD IT with the shady business practices! Every time I go the price changes...especially if you have a gift certificate. Between today and two weeks ago the price suddenly changed again... First off do not add a tip to the price...I can do that IF I choose to not because u think u deserve it, second, don't have the price listed on ur brochures and tell me "it's changed" because last week I paid $20, and third A POLISH CHANGE INCLUDES REMOVING THE OLD POLISH, YOU CANT CHARGE MORE! What the hell am I paying for if u add another $2 to it for "removal of old polish"!??
