I have a family member that comes here who does not speak English, and she told me that they take advantage of her here. When she does her gel nail polish it comes off within a week. When she is checking out, she says that some of the women that work there make sure that she tips they say "tip tip" and they don't take just five or ten dollars. She also says they are really rough with her nails. They try and get her to pay more for the tip.. I told her not to go there anymore unless I'm there because I will not allow that to happen. I have been going here for years. Most recently I paid for a gel pedicure. The "star" pkg. which is the next one up from the basic. They always scrub my feet too much and make me bleed. She did the tops of my toes! I am not sure why they would use the metal tool for this!! It made me bleed and is still there from a week ago. They almost always do too much when you ask for any other package other than the basic. My feet don't need all this but I pay extra just for the extra time for massaging. They made me bleed so much one time I could not go to work as it hurt to walk. They scrubbed the bottom of my feet to the point of bleeding and it stuck to my sock the next day. Had the worst experience of my life. Went in for a pedicure and callus scrub and the lady scrubbed both my heels off to the point I was redoing from both. Only said she was sorry didn't offer me anything else. Told me put something on it to keep moist. Both feet but the left is the worst and to two days later gel polish coming off. I have been going to this salon for about 3 years. At first it was nice and friendly. However, they have recently been very rude, not just to me but to other customers. They manager doesn't care an actually messes up the operation more than he helps. At one point another customer even yelled at him because of how he was treating me. It made her uncomfortable. It is slow season and they are chasing away regulars. I work in the area and used to refer people to them. Not anymore. My response, for what? well we file your nails as if you got a fill. But I got a fill last week and did not need one. The girl did not file my nails and she did not fill them either. It had been a while since I visited Star Nails, and I suddenly remembered why. I got a gel pedicure and a full set. The pedicure was great! I wish I caught his name, but it was a younger gentleman who did my pedicure and his prep was fantastic. However, my full set was a complete 180 of an experience. My tech was rushing through the service, did the wrong nails the wrong colors (2 nails were solid, the rest were checkered - I don't personally think it was a complicated design). My biggest disappointment is how crooked the nails ended up, even after I asked for them to be fixed! It's barely been 24 hours and I'm starting to experience lifting, all while having slanted nails. I'm really disappointed in the final result, and in the $100+ I wasted before my trip. read more

The most awful service I've gotten in YEARS from this place. Came in trying to get a gel pedicure and full acrylic set. One he rushed and left my cuticles a mess. Two he couldnt figure out how to get genuinely square nails which is weird because the clippers can do most of the work for you. Three I asked him TWICE to fix the shape and it didn't improve. Four he never applied a base coat. Five after the first coat of polish I told him it was streaky and uneven (texture wasn't smooth either). He told me he would file it down after the top coat which doesn't make sense. Six the polish didn't go even close to cuticles, was all over my knuckles and finger tips. Seven I asked for a single heart on my ring finger and both hands looked comparable to a child. Eight he continued with the top coat (never let me wash my hands) so there was grit from the electric file all over my hands and under the polish. Nine when he finished I decided to not get my pedicure because it was an hour of garbage. He then tried arguing with me blaming me and saying that I should have mentioned it before he finished which I did MULTIPLE times. I was willing to take a small discount (literally just the cost of gel or the small design which is reasonable) and leave but he chose to take them off and DID THAT POORLY AS WELL. He left most of the acrylic on, did that same bs where he left file powder on my hand then rubbed cuticle oil on it like it made a difference. I left with acrylic stuck to my skin that I can't even get off with hot water. Absolute worse service. My nails look worse off than if I just never came in. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Nothing felt clean. Typically when I go to the nail salon, they open individual packets and use cleaned tools. ESPECIALLY IN A PANDEMIC. The base coat on my gel nails that the tech used was old, and when I went to wash my hands she was smelling it...it made me feel uncomfortable. She also dug into both of my big toes and cut the edges so deep that I fully anticipate ingrown toe nails, especially in my left foot since she cut it, and now it is THROBBING. Avoid this place. I have a feeling I will be going to the doctor very soon for an infected toe nail :( Worst nail experience I have ever had. UPDATE: I went back to the salon and they did refund me for my pedicure. I am now getting the dip method because my nails are strong and the process stays nice until my nail grows out and I go have it done again. I love the pedicures. The girls are so good at preventing ingrown nails for me and the foot, leg massage is soo relaxing. It's out pamper time together. I have now visited this nail spa four times. The first time being the best. I did not have to wait for my gel manicure and I was pretty pleased with my nails. The second time, I called and made an appointment. I had to wait 30 minutes after the scheduled time for the first nail tech to be available. I wanted two colors, gray on four of my nails and black on the other two nails. The lady working on me insisted I have a pattern/glitter. I had to decline more than 3 times before she did it the way I wanted, just plain. The third time I was basically in and out for my simple pink gel manicure. I did have to decline an eyebrow wax more than twice. Immediately leaving the salon, I thought my nails looked nice. Clean and pretty color. My gels started to lift about 6 days later. The fourth time my 5 minute wait turned into 15 minutes because my nail tech was currently working on a client, checking in all new clients and answering the phone. After I was able to get started one nail tech started to remove my current gel and in the middle she left me to start on her client who had made an appointment. I than waited about 10 to 15 minutes for the next nail tech to finish and start my polish. The second tech just rushed through and said not one word the entire time. I was done and left to go home. The next day in the sun I could see bubbles on four of my fingernails, 2 on each hand. For the most part the bubbles dissipated and I was I fine without going back to get them fixed. I got my nails done Friday after 4pm and it's not Monday night around 9:30pm and almost all my gel polish has lifted and looks terrible. I know some brands work better with different nails beds but gel should last more than 4 days. I am uploading photos so you can see how my nails looks after 4 days. I will go back tomorrow and see if they are willing and able to fix what I payed for. I will leave an updated review. I went into the nail salon today, I received a vigorous nail inspection and a lecture. The "manager" was extremely unhelpful and very rude. They did not offer to fix, I had to ask for a refund before they offered to do anything to fix the situation. Disappointed at the lack of any customet service, I left and said I will never be back and I will let anyone I know in the gilbert area to avoid this place. These are my nails THREE DAYS after getting them done. They look like total crap. The man who did them didn't bother to push back my cuticles, glue the nails on correctly or paint the whole nail. You can't tell but there's a chunk of nail missing on my pointer finger. This was the worst way to spend $25, a total waste of my money and my time. I do NOT recommend going here at all. I have to say I was very disappointed with the service we received here yesterday I live in California but come to Arizona a lot to visit my kids and this has become my go to place for nails I bring my daughter here and many out of town guests so I've spent hundreds here I came in with my two young grand-daughters for mani/pedi they only had room for me and the older grand daughter until a pedi seat opened up for the younger one they left her there soaking for an entire hour while they did countless walk ins and just ignored her but when it came to paying it was the same as everyone else it was her first time and she was so disappointed she really did get treated like a second class citizen and to top it off her polish peeled off right away put on way too thick. TL; DR: Cheapest in town *with Money Mailer coupons*, but stick to basic pedis, fills or manis...and don't come here in a time crunch (even with appointment) Their work is fine, but I'd recommend sticking to Holly or Long for acrylics. I've only had pedicures and acrylic fills done here, so I cannot comment on gel manicures or anything else. The reason for the low rating is they are absolutely ABYSMAL at being timely, even if you make an appointment. Today is a Wednesday and I made an appointment for 9AM when they open. When I arrived on time, there was a cluster of ladies outside waiting for them to open. The owner finally arrived at 9:07 and then magically 3 other workers appeared. I wasn't started until 9:18 and a woman after me waited more than 30 minutes for her pedicure (she had an appt as well) Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened, either. Furthermore, if you have one of the more seasoned workers (including Holly and Long) expect them to frequently stop working on you to answer phones, help walk in customers, prep pedicure tubs, even to "quick wax this customer's eyebrows" (yes, that's happened before!) I don't recommend for nail designs (not impressed the couple times I've asked for one) and wouldn't trust for special nail colors/art/etc on my acrylics, nor for backfills (when my tech is constantly stopping to attend to other tasks I don't trust that my color/tips will be even, plus once they started filing off my color powder INSISTING it was gel. I had to argue with 2 different employees about it) So, why do I continue to use them? Because they have Money Mailer coupons EVERY month that make them the cheapest in town, BY FAR. They have coupons for $18 fills (includes the gel topcoat!), $20 pedis (includes hot stone and sugar scrub) and best of all, $38 for fill AND pedi (and all the extras mentioned above!) That's nearly a $40 savings over my usual place, and why I continue to use Star just for every-other-month fills/pedis. You can find their coupons online if you don't receive them in the mail in your area. For my backfills and if I want designs, powder color fills, etc, I use Greenfield Nails on Warner (and highly recommend! Pricey but worth it!) However, if they ever stop running those coupons, then peace out. Lol. read more
