I have been to a lot of different nurseries, and this one is one of the best. That includes other star nurseries in Vegas and in Utah. This location has a larger lot so they have more plants and other gardening supplies. Every time we go there is someone there to greet us and help us if we have any questions about anything. Their prices are fair, and sometimes they have slamming deals. I can't wait to see some habaneros! (This plant was on sale). Staff is always pretty good but you're frigging prices are just ridiculous and now you can't even take buckets to go get a little bit of dirt Whatever you need to make a repair. I don't know what the excuse was now you have to use their 5 gallon buckets and you have to buy them and they don't take them back and it's $13 for a 5 gallon bucket of topsoil Highway robbery! we use just fill up our buckets and get on the scale like I've done for 15 years stop trying to screw people over man. Star Nursery is always packed! Especially on the weekends. They have a ginormous amount of plant and tree selection. The broad variety makes it a one stop shop with products such as soil, plant food, tools, pots, gloves, rocks, fruit trees, cactus, succulents, flowers, veggies, etc. They have red wagons and other carts to make it easy to load your plants into your car. This location feels giant, and they even have an info booth outside in which the employees are super helpful and knowledgeable. There's so much to love about taking a trip to Star Nursery. First, I adore the red wagons. They're great for holding my purchases, whether they're plants, soil, fertilizer/plant food, or something else. The staff is usually helpful and can explain the differences between product choices, which is important for me, as I'm relatively new to gardening. My favorite though is the back. First, there's a shaded "oasis," where many of the plants are kept. The oasis is especially tranquil first thing in the morning. (They open at 6am, and I took these photo the other day, shortly after 7am.) The assortment of plants that will survive in the area is impressive, and I appreciate that they give a 30-day guarantee on their plants. I also appreciate that they have large rolls of plastic sheeting, which I can spread out in my trunk and keep the trunk from getting dirty, when I'm coming home with plants, soil, and other gardening products. Regardless of all my positive experiences here, I took away two stars because my negative experience was so negative that it forever mars my opinion. In 2020, I hired a contractor to redo my entire backyard. After giving him a $2,000 deposit to cover his costs, he went to Star Nursery to purchase the plants. A day or two later, I received a notice that Star Nursery put a lien on my house!!! This was even though I had already given the contactor the money to pay for the plants, and Star Nursery didn't even try to call me directly to request payment for the plants. I would have given them a credit card over the phone or gone there with a check that morning and deducted it from my final payment to the contractor. No, they just put a lien on my house. I replied to the notice, sending them a written request for a copy of the receipt. The contractor was also sent a copy of my letter to Star Nursery, and the contractor told them to ignore me. As a result, they refused to send it to me. Put differently, they were complicit with the vendor's shady business practices. While I still go in person to make purchases, I'll NEVER allow myself to be put in that position again, and I'll NEVER fully trust Star Nursery. read more

Wow this place is awesome. I was only looking for the fungus gnats pebbles but man I found a couple of plants that even though I have one of the ruby rubber tree ... wow they have a brighter darker ruby than mine. I also took home another dieffenbachia and a plant called Caladium bicolor (a.k.a Heart of Jesus). They have a pretty good selection of indoor and outdoor plants. Here are a few quick things that stood out: Great customer service: One of their team members took time to answer my questions and recommend plants that are well-suited for frequent travelers. Plants Galore: Surprise, surprise! There's plants at the nursery. Lol. Seriously though, most of the plants I saw were in great condition. There were signs and labels everywhere with planting and care instructions for the plants. The design of the store was fairly intuitive. Everything was well organized. There was also such a wide variety of plants that I ended up buying 3-4 plant varieties that I had never seen before. Great value: Everything was reasonably priced. I got myself into gardening. It may be a bit harder initially but as you learn more and more is easy and fun. Star Nursery had a seminar about pruning. I always questioned myself if it was okay to trim trees anytime. So today I learned. Winter is the best time for certain trees. We learned about tools and fertilizers. When I get ready I'll go back to Star Nursery for the things I need for next season. The seminar was presented by the expert Paul Noe (I hope I got his name right). He was very knowledgeable and nice. I think Star Nursery should have been a bit more organized. Is this the first seminar? Maybe if you build a small stage where Mr. Paul can stand along the trees he was using to explain the pruning. A microphone headset, so he is able to use his hands. Sometimes it was hard to hear and definitely hard to see. Hopefully next time will be better. This is the closest Star Nursery and it stays busy! I stopped in here last weekend to get a few pots and soil when I found a few new to add to my collection. I'm not impressed with the uncleanliness of the restroom. My son needed to use it being that he had just got out of school and we made a stop prior to going home. Anyway it was filthy and didn't even have soap or tissue! I couldn't believe it! The only thing that made up for the restroom was the beautiful selection of ! Made a quick pit stop here for a yellow pot for Winnie The Pooh. He needed hunny though he is vegan now and eats Agave but I guess that is besides the point. The Pot was $7 as its on sale at 50% off right now. :) The store was nice, a lot of variety. They also had this pond with fish and turtles which I feel bad for because they should be free, in nature where they belong but it was still nice to see the turtles who came right up to me and wanted me to feed them or pet them or maybe kidnap them, I am not sure. Selection/Price: There are more vegetable plants ready for transplant here than in other nurseries around the area. I was overcharged for flagstone purchase by over 100lbs. I brought my receipt in to the very rude associate to politely tell her that something was wrong. I was told by her partner that the weight was 180lbs, but then it magically changed to 260 lbs, so her math came closer. I gave up after her attitude and just left. I needed many tons of flagstone in a few days, but will be buying it somewhere else. a little less attitude in the rock department is important. My fiancé and I have a tradition with finding the right Christmas tree! We came here last year and returned this year for another tree! We found the perfect tree! We got a noble fir 6-7 foot for $79.88 plus tax! It took us a while to decided, but the staff were always asking if we were doing okay or if we had any questions, which was great! After walking down the aisle we saw a staff bring out a new one. We asked a staff member if she could unravel it and it was the perfect tree! She brought it to the front and another staff member trimmed some branches and cut 1/4 inch off of the bottom of our tree. He also brought it to our car and tied it on for us. Spring is in the air! Time to bring some green, and any sort of color for that matter, into our desert landscaping. Our flowerbeds and vegetable garden need some TLC to bring them back to life. So, Star Nursery is a good idea, especially this time of year, when the temps are just beginning to rise. This is our neighborhood nursery and they pretty much have everything we have needed since moving to Vegas last summer. The landscaper we hired last year had an account with Star, so since then we've come here for all of our personal outdoor needs. They honor a military discount! Here's a tip that we recently learned. For any potted plant you wish to transfer into the earth, dig a hole that is 2x it's width and not more than 1" deeper than its original soil height. Prep the new soil with 25% Paydirt, Gold Dust Starter Fertilizer, and some Plant Tonic!! I've been to Star Nursery several times. This past time I went to purchase fertilizer. Being newer to the desert climate I really had no idea what to purchase and how to apply it. I found all my answers at the information center. The lady there was all smiles and happy to answer my questions and walk me through the process. Since we have A LOT of freekin plants and palms, it was nice to feel confident walking out of the store. I should have gotten her name, and I have seen her there several times at the cash register, but she has such a great attitude and is always smiling. Bought a flowering plum tree in 2018, last year for whatever reason half of the tree started turning green, thought it was maybe just growing and needed to mature into its purple color. But this year once again more than half of the tree is green. Clearly this was not a true flowering plum tree and it must have been grafted with something else, as even the leaves look different. This Star facility has a bountiful supply of decorative rocks in several sizes ready to be front-end loaded into your truck. They also have bagged rock. Just tell them what you're working with and they'll fix you up. As for me, a strong wind split my Palo Verde tree in half. That means after two years of nurturing and growth, half my tree is still thriving. It turns out Star has Palo Verdes in all stages of growth.
