I needed a new roof and by accident found the invoice from 2006 when I replaced the roof the last time. Luckily for me, Star Roofing is still going strong. Kris came over to do an estimate. When I opened the door he told me about the shingles I have and some issues with them from the years around when I had them installed. He helped me contact the manufacturer and I was able to get help with the warranty. Roof still needed to be replaced so Star did an excellent job about a week ago. The Team Leader Jim was very polite and professional. He explained to me what they are going to do and when they will be doing it. Kris didn't have to say anything about my old shingles or help me with a warranty claim but he did. I have since referred Star to 3 people. This is such a customer-centric and honest business. Didn't think it is possible but it is with Kris and Star Roofing. read more

I've used Star Roofing and Construction twice over the past 20 years and impressed with their professionalism, speed of scheduling and quality of work performed. We have 8 separate areas on our house that needed roofing replaced on. Access was a problem on one side of the house, along with a steep pitch. They roofed the entire house in 1.5 days, then installed gutters after that. The cleanup was perfect and now I'm excited to enjoy a rainstorm. They did our original roof in our complex and after I saw the work done at my neightbor's roof, I decided to hire them to do mine. They spread the work to 3 days due to rainy weather and cleaned up well after they are done. They were lower cost than other competitors and didnt have to wait for months for them to do the work. We had two experiences with Star Roofing, and both were great! I can't recommend this team enough. When the first big Seattle rains hit this season, we noticed a large leak in our fireplace that was coming from the chimney. We found ourselves constantly rotating towels in and out to soak up the water. We called every company we could find to help diagnose and fix the problem, and though everyone was booked up - Star Roofing went out of their way to find a time to drop by asap and help identify the issue. It turns out the cause of the leak was clear, and again - though their schedules were booked solid - they found time to stop by a few days later to make the repairs. They even identified other issues with the roof and fixed them at the same time, saving us from setting up another service call. Fast forward 2 weeks later, and we noticed another small leak in our porch ceiling. Star Roofing stopped by this morning in-between jobs to see if they could identify the problem. They helped me troubleshoot the leak for 30 minutes (it turns out it is a drain issue), and didn't charge me for the service call since they were in the area already. All in all, I was very impressed with Star Roofing's professionalism, timeliness, and great customer service. read more

For all those 5 star reviews in here, I'm guessing you were not asking for a roof repair under warranty. If your roof leaks, and it is under their warranty, this is what you can expect to occur... you will call and they will be super responsive and send Nick right out. He will look at it and take pictures, tell you he will call back to get you on the schedule. He won't. You will call every third day, not to be too pesky. The secretary will be really friendly and promise to have either Nick or Chris call you. They won't. You will finally call early enough to catch Chris in the office. He will say he knows nothing about it and that he can't get ahold of Nick to find out what his assessment was. He will tell you he will send out roofers on Monday to start the process over. You will take the day off work, because your roof is leaking... but, they will not show up. You will call and talk to a very nice secretary again, who promises that Chris will call you before 7pm. He won't. Then what will you do? Report to the BBB? Hire an attorney? Pay for an attorney? Give up and pay another company to do it? What would you do then? So, before using this company, consider... what will you do when they don't honor their warranty? read more

We could not be more happy with our experience with Star Roofing! My husband and I recently purchased a house knowing that it would need a new roof. We did some research online and got bids from three top rated companies in the area, as it is quite an investment. We decided that we were most comfortable going with Star Roofing based on their great reviews and good pricing. The first day of the job was all tear-off. There were probably a minimum of five guys working at all times and they never stopped moving. Days two and three were adding plywood and installing the new roofing. We decided to opt for a ridge vent system which basically eliminates many of the smaller vents on the roof and makes it much most aesthetically pleasing (we would definitely recommend this!). We chose to use the Certainteed TL shingles due to the fact that we have a rambler and have so much roof to look at. The thicker material definitely adds some dimension to the roof and in the end I was really glad that we chose to upgrade to the TL. When all was said and done, we had a new roof in 3 days. The crew showed up 8am each morning and worked until sun down. They were courteous and professional. We recently had our entire house re-sided (yes, our house is getting quite the face lift) and I was a little worried that the paint might get scuffed or dinged in the process of getting a new roof, but I was pleasantly surprised at the job they did. They protected the windows with plywood as they worked and used tarp to protect our patio from debris. Each night the did a great job of cleaning up and overall kept the mess and impact to us to a bare minimum. I can confidently recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a new roof. read more

Horrible employees, very rude and disrespectful while roofing at the Mill. They park in the undercover spots that we pay to use even though there are more then enough non paid spots to park in, they blocked an entire entry way with a pallet and roped off and coned the only handicap parking spot for the building making it impossible for anyone who can't walk or has walking issues to come over. I have complained to our leasing office, the Washington state attorneys office, mill Creek police HUD and human rights for ADA violations. read more

Simlar experience to the other review with the difference that they'd done 2 roofs for friends already with hearts and flowers all the way around. They just did a 2-layer tearoff and replace with IKO architectural. Architectural = better than 3-tab, some layered texture, but not fake-shake. Which on my humble single-story abode seemed perfect. Got the roof, rotted wood replacement, new fascia boards, gutters, venting at a better price than I expected (sssssh!). Looks great and the crew was exellent. Pleasant, worked clean. Yeah! ps. my color was Weatherwood. I like it better than the other manufacturers because it had less blue in the material. If I want brown-black, why add light to medium blue? Weird. Anyway, in the unlikely event I'll ever need another roof - these guys will get the job. read more

My roof was 21 years old--not yet leaking but certainly past its prime, looking tired and worn. I got 3 bids and chose Star Roofing based on the fair price, the Certainteed product, and referrals from two friends. Kris is knowledgeable and took the time to answer my many questions. After doing some research I chose the Ridgevent external baffle shingle vent system for better roof venting than regular roof vents, and the high profile hip and ridge which look amazing. My roof was done in two days and the crew cleaned up the yard well. I can't get over the dramatic improvement in curb appeal. I would definitely hire them again. read more

Absolutely the best contractor I have worked for thus far. They were the first to create a quote, they were 20% cheaper than any other roofer we quoted. Kris was very straight forward and did not try to cheat me into additional work. Other roofers told us we needed to buy new gutters immediately, while Kris told us our gutters were perfectly fine. We decided to go with 455lb CertainTeed Presidential TL with the 25 year warranty. Star Roofing did not try to up-sell any roof materials, he even said the difference between the higher end Presidential roof and the lower end roof is marginal, and let us choose what we wanted without any pressure. Kris met at our house several times to explain the work, the warranty and was extremely polite and cordial. Kris called us on a Thursday and said they will start work on Monday. His workers came on time, finished a full roof replacement in 2 days. Our neighbors told us the workers were extremely polite and happy to do the work. They cleaned up nicely, and was very careful around our yard and our neighbor's property. They were in no rush trying to get paid, they allowed me to use a credit card and only charged 1.5% transaction fee. Most roofers charge 2.5%-3.0%. Star Roofing was not forceful when sending us a bill, they said please pay once you receive the invoice. I would not go with any other roofing company, and I will recommend them to my sister when she repairs her roof. The best house contractors we have worked with, and 2nd place is a mile behind them. I wish they did Siding, Kitchens and Bathrooms because I'd hire them in a heartbeat. read more

No one has called and it's been over 2 weeks. Super disappointing. If you aren't going to call just tell me you are too busy. A waste of my time. read more

2/16/17 - I attempted to use Star Roofing and gave them a call - we talked and i emailed them the details of the roof repair/ I expected to hear back and didn't - a littler irked because the girl who answered the phone said she would get it to the right person. - Nothing happened so i called back on 2/27 and had the same conversation - i also verified while on the phone that she received my email - didn't hear back just like before - called again on 3/14 as i need to get the roof fixed for my tenant and let her know that this is the 3rd time. She apologized and said she would get back to me that day - which was 3/14/17 - it is now 3/23/17 and i am going to give up on Star Roofing. read more

I had the estimate in Aug 2016, they installed the new presidential shingles in Oct 2016, there are a few things didn't go well 1) roof leaking on the third day, the rain came in from ceiling, damaged the dry wall on the ceiling, water on stairs, they fixed the leaking on the next day. they also fixed the dry wall about 2 months after 2) they broke one of the windows, fortunately, it is double windows, so no leaking, they fixed the windows until Feb 2017, which is 4 months later 3) Downspout leak, they installed the rain gutter guard, but I noticed the downspout leaking, called them 3 times, still waiting for them to check and fix, no return call yet. the crew member were nice, the estimate is good, I compared with a few other Angie's list top company, their estimate is the best, but I only can give 2 star. read more

Had a leaky roof and called 3 companies. Kris came out that day and was the only person to look in the attic as well as on top of the roof. Estimate in two days, delivered in person, with all options itemized and explained. Other company gave me just one price for the estimate after waiting a week; the third never got back to me. All done with extras came to less than the other estimate. Roof looks great, was done quick and clean. My dad and neighbor are both contractors and were both impressed with how good the crew was. I do not recommend this company, here is why: - took twice as long to complete the job than what was promised - did not entirely clean the surroundings. Even after complaining they are not coming back to finish cleaning, it is up to me to know remove all the small debris they left behind that litter my backyard - left several dents and some bent gutters, refused to repair them and suggested I can hire them to replace the gutters at discount (no thanks, I will take my business somewhere else) - put their huge dumpster right in front of my garage even though there was space few feet nearby to put that thing, they refused to move the dumpster citing that would slow down their job. I am just glad this is over and I hope the new roof holds up for years to come. I would just hate have to deal with this company again. read more

This company was excellent to us. Saved us $7,500 from our highest quote! We needed some simple maintenance on our shake shingle roof. We rang 3 companies. The 1st company (Alpine) got up on 1/2 the roof, told us that there wasn't much that needed doing, and that our skylight was leaking. Quoted us about $8K. The 2nd company didn't even get up on the roof and quotes us $4K. Star roofing went up on the roof and took lots of photographs, and then looked carefully around from the ground. They went through the photographs with us - explained that not much needed doing; mainly ridge tiles that needed replacing. Showed us photos of the skylight where there HAD been leakage, but it had obviously been fixed years ago. (It had rained hard the last 2 days, and the water marks inside were as dry as a bone). Quote $550!!! They came and did the job very well - took them a good 2 days. The roof looks great, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

If they want our business and money then raise the standard of customer service and response time. Don't over promise and never follow through. I am giving Star Roofing 5 stars based on the quality of the work they ended up doing but want to call out it was not a simple process to get them to inspect, bid and perform the job in what I consider a timely manner (i.e. 1-2 months). So be prepared to drive this to completion a little more than you might expect. My experience: I first called them in March 2014 to inspect my flashing around roof, gutters, and chimney and make any maintenance/repairs necessary, missing pieces etc. The first guy came out looked around and was going to quote the job but never I never heard back. When I called back inquiring on the follow up a few weeks later I learned he left the company so we started over. It took a total of 4 calls spread over several months trying to get a date for someone to inspect, quote and do the work. Finally its October 2014, *seven* months later and the guy is actually doing the maintenance, and "oh my god he is doing an amazing job" making sure all the water gets off the roof and into the gutters and downspouts, so I'm going to say all is well that ends well. Honestly I would have gladly waited 7 months for a guy to come out and do the job right, only wish we had better communication up front setting expectations on when it would get done. read more

STAR ROOFING was great. We had a small leak in our roof and I was very nervous about calling any roofing company, because often they are too busy to come out, do not show up when they say they will, and the work is always questionable. So I searched the Internet, and found STAR ROOFING, who had 100% positive review no matter where I looked, even with the BBB. So, we decided to call, they came out the next day, figured out the problem, came back the next day to fix it, spent over 4 hours working on it (also removing old sat elites from the previous owners of our house).... all was done and they charged us exactly what they said they would, even with all the extra work they did. They were nice, friendly, and I will not hesitate to use them again! read more

Star Roofing reroofed my house in September 2012 and promised to provide a 50 year 5-Star Certain Teed warranty. After I called and emailed them many times, even after I told them I need the warranty to sell my house, they finally mailed me a 10 year warranty issued by Star Roofing on 1/10/2013. I was extremely disappointed so I sent them another email on 1/12/2013 asking if there was any miscommunication. They replied that the CertainTeed warranty is in the mail and will arrive in 10 days. Now 10 days after, I am still waiting for the warranty. I am filing a complaint with BBB... Terrible experience! Definitely won't recommend them to anyone! read more
