On March 31st, 7-11 in Pacific Beach had our car towed illegally at 3:30pm for being parked to long in their parking lot. Being a Mercedes they had to tow the car from the rear and put the front wheels on Dollie's. For what ever reason the driver decided to take the I-5 north to the 52 east to the convoy exit instead (we think to add on mileage to tow) of a direct rout up Grand to Balboa then to Convoy. Somewhere near the 52 the Dollie's came apart somewhere the 52 according to the tow driver. He also stated that he noticed the car was kinda wobbling behind his truck. Meanwhile my wife had called me at 3:41 to come pick her up and take her to the tow yard. I left got gas and drove 13 miles to pick her up at 4:10pm and we drove to the tow yard on Armour dr. We arrived at tow yard around 4:40 and were told the car had not yet arrived and after 5 there is a extra $150 added to tow it's not their fault driver was not there. It had been almost a hour and a half since they hooked the car. Their truck arrived at 4:51 and the driver came out to talk to us about what had happened. He fully admitted to the accident and said the company would take care of all damages. I asked to see the car and speak to the owner. They took me into the yard where I meet Reza who claimed to be the owner and another employee named Ron. Reza repeatedly said they would fix the car he offered a auto body shop but I told him I wanted to take it to a Mercedes certified auto body. I asked Reza for his full name which he refused and I also asked him for the drivers name and was also refused. I then asked for their insurance company's name and was told not to worry about it just have autobody shop call him. He would not give me his business card only a generic card. Reza also offered to replace two tires with a exact same new at Evans Tire immediately so we could drive home. But he also demanded I pay for the tow. I called BS on that after what damage they had done to my car. Eventually we negotiated to change only one tire so we could get home and the fee for the tow would be dropped. Ron was very helpful in deescalating the situation. Tire was replaced. My insurance company have tried several times and I have tried to speak to Reza and he will not return phone calls and his voice mail is full. Fortunately I have a video of them accepting responsibility and if legal action is needed it will help. read more

I had a pretty miserable experience with star towing today. I've never had a car towed without warning. The front desk lady was extremely rude with me and was not helpful. Quite possibly the most expensive payment I've had to make for my car which is already annoying and upsetting. Absolutely the worst towing company we've dealt with. To the man who works their front office, I can't even begin to think of any worse customer service experience we've had. We went to pick up our car, paid the $484 dollar fee, we're put on "hold" as the man answered numerous incoming calls without excusing himself, didn't get a thank for the payment, and lastly we had to remind the employee/ignorant front desk associate to open the gate as we waited patiently for 5 minutes for him to open the gate to let us out. I am now trying to get it fixed and they have been completely uncooperative and Reza the manager has refused to take any of my calls or return my voicemails like a pathetic coward. I have never had a positive experience with a tow company until today! Star towing was fantastic. Victor was friendly and thoughtful and efficient. They kept me updated from an hour away, to a half hour to 15 minutes to 5 minutes away. That never happens!! Victor navigated some tricky turns, tight roads and funky driveway and could not have been more professional. He grabbed the car loaded it and safely delivered it to the dealership. read more

The person picking up the car was nice. He was later than he stated and I was running out the door to a commitment and he arranged for me to pay invoice separately so I could go quickly. HOWEVER, then they called me incessantly while I was out, so I finally picked up and was threatened that they would go get my car from the shop and take it to storage if I didn't pay right now. They have wrongfully towed my car. I noticed that all the other license plates in the parking lot are from California mine is from Arizona. They towed my car but nobody else's. I'm standing here talking to people that have left their car over night because they had too much to drink on the 4th of July. They are now arriving to get their parked overnight vehicle at 7:17 am. Star towing says they towed my vehicle last night at 4:11 AM at the owners expense. They are targeting out of state license plates. My point is all the other cars were not towed but mine was. I ask them to show me paperwork and the lady that spoke to me on the phone says only with court ordered documents. That means they just came in and towed it because they thought they were in the right. I hope I have the same right as the people that live here parking in the same parking lot. 5 people have come up to pick their cars since I've been here and they have all been left overnight. Yesterday I woke up to a dead car battery and was supposed to take it in to the dealership for it's annual service. My wife and I have AAA so we called to get a jump. 6 hours later and 3 different drivers my car wouldn't start and I was extremely frustrated because without power it couldn't be move out of my garage to be towed. Since it's a newer high end car I called the dealership who recommended Star to come help since they tow their vehicles. The driver Martin was very knowledgeable and was able to get it started within about 20 mins. He also gave me good insight to how to avoid the issue next time. I was able to drive it in to the dealer and would have save 6 hours and a headache if I would have just called Star instead of AAA. I recommend Star and special thanks to Martin. read more

I kept my hazards on to show that I wouldn't be long while my daughter used the restroom as I didn't want her to pee on her self. When I went down my car was already towed. Our truck was totaled. My husband was in the hospital and I was responsible for taking care of the insurance and the truck. Stars Towing was a blessing. After they towed the truck to their facility, I went to get all our belongings. At 77, I was having a hard time getting in and out of the badly damaged truck. The gentleman on duty went out of his way to help me unload everything. He even found things that I would have missed. He carried all out belongings to my car and loaded them for me. He then climbed in the bed of the truck and took lawn chairs, walking sticks and fishing gear to my car. I could not have done this without him. When I left, he was leaving also. I suddenly realized I had not emptied the glove box. I flagged him down, he reopened the gate and went back for what I had left. He then declined the tip I offered and told me to have a nice day. I called for a tow at 1:30pm and was told that it would take 45 minutes. After 1 hour I called back and was put on hold for 5 minutes while they contacted the driver. The dispatch returned to tell me that they could not get a hold of him but it would probably only take another 20 minutes. After 25 minutes dispatch was nice enough to call me back to tell me that they got a hold of the driver and that he had a drop off a few 'numbers down' and would be there in 20 minutes. 40 minutes later, no tow truck. I call dispatch again who promises me that the driver will call me back within 5 minutes to let me know where he is. It is now 4:05pm. No sign of a tow truck driver, calls not being answered by dispatch, and no driver ever contacted me. I will never deal with this business again. read more

Today my car was towed after a long day of grocery shopping I finally get home & go upstairs to get the wagon go down stairs my car was still there loaded 1 part of all groceries take the elevator 1 floor up quickly unloaded my wagon at home went back down & my car was GONE!!! All this within like 5 minutes.i can't even unload groceries in my own apartment complex because my car gets towed! That's literally where everybody unloads there is no sign that says no parking at anytime! Nothing at all they literally just prey on your car that's illegal asf. I go try to take out my car my license is suspended so I had to take my mother in law since she has a license! & that asshole tells me she can't use her license to take out the car that it has to be me with the license so he can let us take the car. Star towing was referred by our insurance company to tow our car to our mechanic's shop. We made a reservation in advance. Vice was our technician and tow truck driver. He arrived ahead of schedule, quickly loaded the car on the flatbed of the tow truck, and quickly took the car to the shop. Pricing was significantly better than others we called.
