Well, if food, service, and ambience are the three categories I should consider in my review, suffice it to say I wish I could give them negative stars. The neon sign outside says "Dine In" and yet the woman who stands behind the Covid era plexiglass will shout at you "take out only!!" To that end, there is no service. They only take cash, (so I'm relatively certain they're not reporting all of the income on their taxes). And when I say they only take cash, I mean there's no other options. No credit card, no debit card, no Zelle, Venmo, CashApp... Nothing else. Now for the main attraction, the Food. I'm reluctant to critique anyone's artistry, but this food is shit. There is no nicer word. Relatively certain the eggrolls, the chicken tenders, all of it comes frozen and is loudly prepared on a grill. Since you can't see it being cooked, all you can hear is the metal utensil clanging loudly against the grill. All of the sauce is store-bought, prepackaged, sugary, gelatinous slop. I suppose the only nice thing I can say about this place they have free parking. Seriously, save your time and your cash. Do NOT eat here. read more

BEWARE I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE 10 if possible . I ordered the shrimp egg foo young, a large fried rice, and cheese wontons. From the moment I placed my order, the woman at the front was very short and unfriendly with me. I asked if pea pods could be added to my egg foo young, and she immediately refused without offering any explanation or alternative. While I was waiting, I watched three White customers come in after me, and they appeared to be greeted and treated much more respectfully than I was. The difference in how we were treated was noticeable and left me feeling unwelcome. After reducing my order, she handed me my food in a thin brown paper bag even though the containers were oily and the bag was bulging. I simply asked for a plastic bag to keep everything from falling out. I also requested four soy sauce packets and some hot sauce. She told me there was soy sauce in the bag, but there were only two packets. When I asked for more, she said it would cost 50 cents. I gave her $1, and she didn't offer my change back. She set the bag on a nearby table and made no effort to bag it properly or even open the plastic bag for me. I finally asked, "Why are you being so rude to me?" She didn't respond at all. After leaving, I called and asked to speak with the owner. A man answered and said the owner was busy, which made me believe the woman at the front was likely the owner. There was no opportunity to discuss what had happened or address my concerns. Because of how poorly I was treated, I no longer felt comfortable eating the food. I ended up throwing it away because I had lost confidence after the experience. The first red flag was how dirty the restaurant appeared. The second was the rude customer service from the moment I placed my order. I should have trusted my instincts and left, but I wanted to give the restaurant a chance. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and courtesy. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Instead, I recommend China Moon, where the food is excellent and the staff has always treated me with kindness and respect. read more

The food was awful. The wontons were cold the hot and sour soup was like a thick egg drop soup in a brown sauce and the garlic shrimp with vegetables only offered tough broccoli, tasteless, shrimp and a thick sludge for a garlic sauce. I called to complain especially about the hot and sour soup. The woman that answered the phone at the counter started yelling at me. I told her all of my complaints about the whole meal and that we could not eat it that I wanted to bring it back and get a refund. She refused to compensate us. We wasted money on takeout that we could not eat. We have been going to Huey's for over 9 years. The last several times we have gotten takeout It was marginal but because it is a local restaurant we kept trying. Tonight however, was the absolute worst food and experience. I've had a cold all week and needed their wonton soup. I love getting the wonton soup every time I have a sore throat. It's just what the doctor ordered. It is very soothing on the throat and is always served piping hot. There's something about this soup that makes me feel better after eating it. Definitely recommend it when you're under the weather or even just in the mood for soup. Worth mentioning that with the large soup you get 8 wontons in it. My deceased grandfather's favorite takeout. I love to go now and then for old times sake, bland but filling. Tasty if you like "American Chinese food" This is old school takeout Chinese. The stuff American servicemen back from the war made a staple for so many families from the 50s through the 80s. I'm nearly 60 and I went there with my grandfather as a child. The guy who founded it still ran it then. The food is hot and filling and the portions are big! Which is nice. The only drawbacks are NO CREDIT CARDS or electronic payment of any kind, they do take checks, but when is the last time you saw a checkbook? The other is they need an option for some more seasoning. They assume like most places that Minnesotan "Chow Mein" customers like traditional Midwestern blandness. I know they can make spicier food, but I don't know how to ask. Classic Chinese-American food done well! Having grown up in a family with similar restaurants, it's always fun to order from places such as Huie's to bring back memories of my youth. Their food is great, portions are generous and prices are very reasonable! All of the dishes we ordered were wonderful, egg rolls and wings were crispy, broccoli was still vibrant and crunchy and the fried rice had that smoky aroma of the wok. Whenever I want quick Chinese food, this is nice option because it's super close to our house and doesn't take long to get to. We love the combination meals because it gives us a little taste of what they have to offer on the menu such as eggrolls, fried rice and an entree for a reasonable price! We've ordered here twice during the pandemic. They don't deliver but since we are super close it didn't matter. This is by the far the best chinese fried rice from all the nearby Chinese places we've ordered from before. The rice is cooked thoroughly and a good mixture of veggies and meat. I feel the sauce could be a little lighter or something because afterwards you'll need to quench your thirst. It doesn't taste salty until you've devour the whole meal then it catches up to you. The lo mein has lots of veggies and meat as well. I think they could go lighter on the sauce for this one too. I guess when there's too much sauce, the food looks so dark but flavor is still good. I never ordered food from Huie's before but have read good reviews about this long time standing establishment. I called in this evening at 8:00 thinking they were open until 8:30. Was informed by the nice woman/owner that they were now closed (at 8:00) but she asked what I wanted and that she would prepare it and would wait for me to arrive if within 10-15 minutes. Is this amazing customer service or what!?!? I arrived around 8:17, was greeted by the friendly couple/owners and handed the nicely packaged chicken chow mein. I arrived home 10" later and my order was still very warm. The dish looked and smelled fresh and contained substantial chunks of tender white meat chicken, perfect rice and a generous package of firm noodles. It was the best chicken chow mein I have ever eaten(and I grew up in the NJ/NY area where they have great chinese food. I will definitely be back to try some other entrees, and you should too! read more

The Vegetable Chow Mein as OK, but I've never understood why people eat American Chow Mein - mushy. I enjoyed the Egg Drop Soup and Cream Cheese Wontons, but couldn't get into the Vegetable egg Rolls. I wasn't sure what to expect; I've never ordered from this particular place before, but since Cleveland Wok closed I've been having a heck of a time trying to find a good Chinese place that isn't too expensive. People seem to like Huie's so I checked it out today. I got a lunch combo: Sesame Chicken and egg foo young. The sesame chicken suspiciously seemed like the frozen nugs that Wong's uses and they were a little dry, soggy. The sauce was pretty bland. The fried rice was good, although I would prefer a white rice option for next time. The egg foo young was pretty bland as well. This place may have been here for so long because of the blandness. Unfortunately wasn't vegetarian friendly. My veg partner ordered the Mushroom Chow Mein, disappointed to find meat still a part of the dish. We were up-sold to get the combo with fried rice and an egg roll, which also had meat. I felt the noodle packets were small and stingy. I'd probably ask for two next time. Huie's Chow Mein is our go-to local Chinese restaurant. It's a small, mom-and-pop operation, serving many of the usual standbys of Chinese-American cuisine as well as authentic Sichuan and Guangdong specialties. Their fried rice is amazing: not too salty nor too oily, with a perfect blend of rice, egg and vegetables (along with meat, should you order it). I usually go for their lo mein, though, which is also seasoned with remarkable balance. The braised pork they use, as well, is tender and tasty. Their shrimp and chicken dishes, as well, are excellent. The people who run the place are friendly and hospitable. There isn't much seating space inside, just a couple of tables around the outside. Before you go, though, make sure to bring cash or a checkbook! They don't take plastic in any form. But seriously, to say that it's well worth the stop in at an ATM beforehand is a vast understatement. read more

Huie's lacks decor, but who needs it when you're taking out anyway! Pretty standard Chinese food menu and tasty. The sesame chicken is a favorite. The Szechuan beef was also good but lacked much spice. We are impressed by the prices. You can get a generous meal for under $10. On a normal night, expect about a 30-40 minute wait.
