I am not very technical regarding laptop computers and found myself with a 3 year old MSI computer that had not been used since the purchase. The battery would not charge and I tried to fix by installing a new battery. It would still not function after the replacement so I found Starbase Net Computer online. Appreciate the amazing customer service! Had been struggling with PC Blue Screen of Death problems for over a week and knew that I needed an expert. Fortunately enough I found one at this shop that I can rely on, since he saved my desktop PC once before already. He was even flexible enough to allow me to pick up my fixed PC after hours because I get off work around the time he closes. Just a side tip: it helps expedite things if you can explain what problems you are facing and what you have already done to try to fix it. I rarely write reviews but I felt like I had to write one since Henry provided me with great service. I came to this shop because I accidently bent my CPU pins and I was too scared to try to straighten the pins myself. Henry did warn me that there was a chance the pins could snap/potentially break and I was okay with him trying to fix it anyway since the CPU was expensive. He fixed the bent pins and the cpu was working perfectly fine afterwards when we put it back into the motherboard. I would recommend his services to people to not only software/data problems but also for people looking to fix hardware technical issues (like my bent cpu pins). read more

I was extremely satisfied with Henry at Starbase. I had received 3 excellent reviews from friends and therefore I went there with very high expectations. Now I see why they recommended it! Within 5 minutes, the problem was identified, I needed a new hard drive. I had researched the cost in advance and Henry was a few dollars less and he upgraded me to a 1T drive for 4 dollars more. This was on a Saturday and Monday being a national holiday, I received the computer back on Tuesday AND it was all cleaned and shining! I have been taking my desktop computers to Starbase in South Pasadena since 2015 for both repairs and upgrades. Over the years I have been to many computer repair shops and Starbase is by far the best experience I've had, and consistently so for over a decade. This past week, I took a new desktop in for some upgrades and due to the small case enclosure, and a sub-standard motherboard, ran into some issues with installing the hardware I wanted. Henry was so helpful, informative and was great about communication. Now my computer is a powerhouse for the music applications I use. Henry appeared very eager to help when I was dropping of my computer but when it came to fixing it, he wasn't quite as enthusiastic. He fixed one issue but damaged another in the process and then wanted me to pay him more money to have it fixed as well. He is overpriced, and seemed to be more interested in getting as much money out of me as possible rather being of help. While waiting to pick up my computer I witnessed another customer complaining of the similar issue I had, Henry not fixing fully the computer she gave him and then asking her to pay more to finish the job. Next time I have computer problems, I'm going to look for someone else who cares more about their job. read more

This place is garbage... Brought my laptop in cause I had a virus, ended up getting me to agree to upgrade the OS and all wanted them to do initially was to reformat. But what they forgot to tell me was that none of my drivers would work anymore because I had a Sony Vaio and they don't get support anymore because theyre discontinued.. The cherry on top was when I picked up my laptop after they upgraded the OS, the battery was blown and had swelled so much that the screws to the battery lid was popping out.. I told them to replace it and Henry gave me a hard time about it but finally gave in... I wish I never went there... Now my 3k laptop has a 15 min battery life on a full charge and none of my drivers work because they failed to tell me the full details of what would happen to my laptop if I upgraded the OS fully knowing that the Vaio is discontinued.. Starbase computers is the place to go for quality, friendly service. My laptop fan started acting up. I brought it to Henry. He diagnosed the problem, located it in the controller and not the fan itself, ordered a new controller for me, texted me when it arrived (it took about a week), and installed it for me on the spot when I went to the shop. My audio had gone out on my computer some months prior, and though I went to Starbase because of my fan problem, when he installed the new controller, the audio came back, too. I am very pleased with my experience. I am thankful there is a place like Starbase in South Pas. The pricing is high, but so is the quality of service. Dude, awesome place. Brought in my old college desktop to see if I could get some data recovered. Haven't touched it since it crashed like 4 years ago. Thought I would try to get my old notes, pictures and essays off of it for keepsakes. I came around 1ish in the afternoon. Got a call back the same day telling me that it was ready for pickup. The tech, Henry, ran through what he did, had me check out the files and we closed the deal at 50 bucks! He even found the problem and fixed it. Dropped off my computer three days ago to have a harddrive cloned and installed. This is something I can do but didn't have time. Was supposed to take one afternoon. To their credit, they had some issue and had to start I over. Not sure if the problem was due to them or my machine. Now three days later my laptop is done and I have been standing outside their store for 45 minutes waiting for them to open. Supposed to open at 9:30. 10:15 and no sign of life. Epilogue: Picked up my computer only to find my screen is now cracked and before I could even bring it to their attention, my logic board went out. Related??? Don't know. A man came to my house to set up new printer and sync it to my wi fi and new mac book air laptop. Could not set up as wireless even though the printer had this capability - was only able to set so I have to use cable from laptop to printer. There is no problem with my wifi. the printer has never worked past that first week. I am unable to print anything. I was charged $200. I would advise caution when using this company. read more

We've been using Starbase for every type of computer maintenance and repair since forever. Nice, competent folks who have serviced everything from gaming computers to laptops. Recently we had a Macbook badly damaged from a spilled cup of coffee. They resurrected it, recovered the data and now working as good, or better, then new. Made the mistake of giving Henry & co a second chance. Starbase gets downgraded to two stars from three. (Honestly it should probably be one.) Communication is just terrible all the way around. I have come here three times in the last two years for various issues with my laptop. Once to replace corrupted memory, once to repair my charging jack, and most recently to check to see if there was any corrosion after I spilt water on my laptop. Each time Henry has helped me and been wonderful. His prices seem fair and he walks you through the issue. This last time I had to leave my laptop and he would text me pictures while he was repairing it to keep me informed. I do not hope that I will need more computer repairs in the future but if I do I will bring them to Henry's helpful hands. read more
