Here is my overall reason why I gave them 5 stars: - The planning and installation: This was great. Smooth as can be especially since our main panel had to be upgraded to a 200A panel. Our house was built in 67 so retrofitting and upgrading is ALWAYS a chore. Q-panels and Enphase micro-inverters were our choice as I didn't want to run a string panel design...which was exactly what they designed. Could've gone with the newer micro-inverters to have a micro-grid but the cost difference was not worth it for us. - The worst part about this project was the inspection delays and requirements (2 Ground rods had to be installed) which delayed the process. It is what it is. - PTO (permission to operate) from SCE took a bit but once we were up and running I can only say that I have been completely satisfied with the project. Totally glad we installed our project in 2022 before CPUC decided to change the NEM (Net Energy Metering) rules starting 4/01 2023...... Overall, I think what differentiates solar companies from each other is their ability to communicate and provide clear and timely updates as to the status. Enlightened checked those boxes and delivered.

$30k and FIVE MONTHS AFTER permission to operate granted and I'm still producing 0 solar. A few…read moreweeks after my system was deemed complete by Stellar, I noticed that my consumption from the grid had remained the same. I pulled the data from the Tesla app and lined it up with the data from the SDGE app. I sent this spreadsheet showing that I was producing zero power and getting 100% from the grid to the guys at Stellar. The immediate, defensive and accusatory, response was that I should've went with the number of panels they suggested. Keep in mind, I was producing 0 kWh, not 1 or .3 but ZERO. They did not look into it all. A few weeks later, I sent the SDGE bill and they saw the problem but stated that's a problem with SDGE and not them and that's it's my responsibility. They did not validate that SDGE was receiving a signal showing my systems production. Twice, stellar asked that I've paid for the system completely before it was done. I held out payment until it was complete, but did not realize that this step had not been completed. As of this writing, the situation has not been resolved. I have called SDGE more than 10 times and spoken with management. Stellar has offered nothing to make this right after several conversations. I am unable to comment on the system as I have yet to see it operate.

She offered a free panel cleaning, which she set up internally and had their team come out this past Friday without issue. Since the cleaning the panels have been much better performing especially after these past few weeks of misting and rain, about 25% higher output. I didn't think much of it but I get now it's worth doing to get the most out of the panels. Overall a very good response and experience with OC specifically for this issue. I feel that they do want to stand out from the crowd and responding proactively to feedback gives me more confidence they'll take care of issues as they hear about them.

Lucien called his team and found Dillon, who was close by and able to come out quickly. Dillon was very friendly and competent. He quoted me $200 for a house call...very standard for the area. Dillon uncovered the faulty circuit breaker. He cleaned it as good as he could that afternoon and returned the next day with a brand new "contemporary style" breaker which he installed. Problem fixed! Prompt, clean, efficient and friendly. Who can ask for more? The $200 service call included the new circuit breaker. If I ever have another electrical issue, I'm only calling the team at Laguna Electric.

Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.
