I am still waiting for any evidence that this is too good to be true. After reading all of the horror stories online of people getting screwed by other solar companies customer service, I was very hesitant to invest in something like this. Jared was the initial salesman to come to my door. He was very friendly and straight forward. Dallas came over and was obviously the closer. He put everything on the table and helped me realize how much money I could be saving using solar panels. They both were very professional and were not overbearing. Everything is better than expected. They factored in roof repair which my house desperately needed into the price of the panels at a price that was VERY reasonable. It has rained hard since then and there are no more leaks in my house and the roof looks better than ever. They also paid completely for bee extermination and hive removal from my roof. The extermination company removed 33 pounds of hive from my roof. They also gave me a substantial military discount. What else could they possibly do for me?! Solcius is the actual solar company that did the installation but Dallas is my liaison for everything. I contact him by text or by phone call and I have never had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a response. He is kind and professional and he always answers the phone greeting me by my name. This guy obviously loves what he does and takes pride in the services he provides. The savings are substantial which makes the 20 year loan very bearable. My monthly savings over paying an electric bill should save me anywhere from $150 to $600 a month. Last summer SDG&E billed us nearly $800 in August when we ran the AC almost every night. I may update this post after we have a year of service but the projected output of our 19 panels should cover all of our electricity needs for the entire year with a little surplus. I've had several solar quotes from multiple companies and every quote I received had excessive work leading to an over the top excessive price. I received Dallas's information from a friend and decided that I would give solar one last shot. When I first met Dallas, I found him to be courteous, honest, professional and personable. During our consultation I spoke to him about all my other solar quotes and the excessive work (i.e. full roof repair) they were writing into the quotes. Dallas explained that my particular roof shouldn't need to be repaired and for good measure he will have it inspected before the solar project would commence. He also alerted to me about the NEM 2 program and that he could get me on even though the deadline to close the program was fast approaching. After much explanation from Dallas regarding the NEM 2 program, it was very important to me to get onto the program. I also spoke to Dallas about getting an Electric Vehicle and he stated that he would have his Technician Ruben come out and hook up a 50 amp Level 2 charger for free. After very little deliberation, I said yes to using Dallas for my home solar project and it was the best decision! Dallas and his Technician Ruben were the best team anyone could ask for. Ruben and his crew were thorough, clean and careful throughout the installation. Permitting did take a little while and that was because I changed the installation location of the solar equipment from originally on the side of the house to inside the garage. Other than that, the only hold up was Edison because of all the people trying to get on the NEM 2 program. Dallas was very responsive and always available throughout the entire project. He was very informative and helpful. Even after our project has been completed and we are on the grid with Edison we still ask Dallas questions and he still responds to us quickly and is still very helpful. Believe me, you will want to work with someone that can hold your hand throughout this process. My wife and I are still learning about the break down of solar credits, the new energy program we are on now with Edison and how it all works. Edison makes this very confusing when you call them so it is nice to have Dallas to help provide clarity. When we were first approached to go solar in OC, we already knew our answer; would love to, but we have zero dollars at this point to put into it. We owned panels before and paid a fortune before having to leave them behind when we sold our home in LA. It was unfortunate as they were the best panels at the time (SunPower 345w). We let Dallas know and said thanks but no thanks, perhaps in the future. He mentioned that his company has a partnership program with a lender to provide a 20-year loan on the panels so that our monthly payments can be half our electric bill without requiring any upfront payments. Given that deal and with the fact that we were going to be immediately saving dollars on day one, we concluded it was a deal we didn't want to give up. We signed our contracts early May and within 6 weeks we had new panels on our house and approval from SDGE to operate, just in time for the summer. Most of the waiting was with Mission Viejo city inspections but apparently that was approved in record time. In terms of the design process, I was presented with a set of really nice black on black panels but I noticed that the wattage was only at 300 per panel (LGs). I said, I like the design on our house and the use of the attic for wiring and plumbing, but I wanted higher efficiency panels. They provided black on white panels (not as sexy) but more efficient 330w panels from LG. I think I could have done a little more shopping on the actual panels but regardless I already had more than enough wattage to offset all our electrical use and from what I am seeing there is definitely a law of diminishing returns on the greater wattage panels meaning a lot more money for incremental increases in power. Regardless, we are net/net very pleased with the professionalism of Dallas and Solcius and were particularly pleased we had some customization to future proof ourselves as much as possible. In the era of companies with "high say, low do" this one delivers what it promises!! We have lived in Covenant Hills for 15 years now and have watched our SDGE bills get out of control, we have all LED recessed lighting, Nest controls, and have lived in darkness trying to reduce our energy bills. Out of nowhere a knock on the door from UCP and in less than 3 weeks we had solar panels up and running, (after homeowners and SDGE approvals). We just received our first statement from SDGE and will not receive a bill from them for one year! BTW, our first bill would have been $13.86 dollars! Our payment for the panels is less than one of our normal months utility bill with an average of $275 a month! UCP has a great app and you can see your daily production, it's now my husband's favorite thing to do is to see how much energy our panels have generated every day! Almost everyday I have someone knocking on my door to sell me solar and I immediately say, we are getting ready to move so that they will go away. A young man (I don't remember his name but I think it is Dallas's brother) came to my door and was not pushy, was not "used car salesman like" and had a totally different approach when trying to talk me into solar. He asked if he could send someone back at a later date to discuss the benefits, I said sure! After getting ridiculously high quotes from several solar companies I thought solar was out for us. After meeting with Dallas of Utah Clean Power, I was pleasantly surprised that we could install solar at a more reasonable cost. I also liked the fact that his company has been around almost 10 years, something you don't see with many solar companies. The process from start to finish was 35 days after HOA approval, installation, and final inspection. I was referred to Utah Clean Power by a friend of mine and was a little hesitant to make the switch to solar because I knew my roof was on it's last leg. Dallas came by and explained the process, did a roof survey and determined I would need a new roof in order for solar to work at my home. I've been interested in having solar installed for many years now, but each time I've been approached by many different companies I haven't found it to make sense or be cost effective.
